Wait for service is not up to par yet. When a place is not full n there’s no greeter and u stand waiting table and service it’s an issue. The food has always been good but new management needs to hire more people or implement better workers to service front of house. Believe me if I didn’t want to fight downtown traffic I would gladly give Oakwood Café it’s small but very efficient and food is perfection for Latin flavors.

Drove from Fayetteville to try Latin Quarters food, the asthmosphere was good and drinks were good enough. Now the food honestly wasn’t what i expected, i order the Mofongo that comes with the shrimp and meat and the sauce that they put on too destroy the flavor that i was expecting to have. Tasted like Ragu Sauce, customer service was good since the waitress was willing to change my plate but i don’t think that i will be back. I asked for lemons and they denied them but were serving them with my drinks… Doesn’t make sense i know, but regardless overall the place was ok.

The dinning was exceptional. Puerto Rican cuisine was just like the island. I had a great experience and plan to return soon. The music was good salsa from the DJ. The dance club was not open. I can’t wait to check it out. Viva la isla de encanta

I had habanero chicken that was wonderful. The heat was just right and flavorful. The yellow rice was a bit dry. My friend had the cuban sandwich and was very happy with. He didn’t even want to share! That should tell you how good it was. Ashley was very attentive and help us picked a nice smooth tequila. Go and ask for Ashley

Amazing food! Great prices, hefty portions, and a lot to choose from. Half of the establishment is a restaurant and the other half is a bar and salsa dance floor. There were a few minor downfalls. They have a lunch menu but you cannot order from it during the weekend which is not apparent and made ordering confusing. They should have a separate menu or clearly tell you this when you are seated. It is a bit unsettling that they did not take the time to set up basic accommodations in the restrooms like placing paper towels or toilet paper in their holders and making sure the soap dispenser was filled. It is not a good place for vegetarians. There was not one main entrée for my friend to order so she could only choose appetizers. The appetizers were a little weird. She received guacamole but it did not come with anything to eat it with. Her empanadas also did not come with any dipping sauce and she had to request it. The service was okay but at times it felt unwelcoming. This place has so much potential. The food is fantastic, even as leftovers!

I came here for lunch and dinner quite a few times before. the food was good but the service could be a little better. Anyway, After 6 months I came back for lunch again on Saturday. I was surprised about the change. The host can speak good English and greeted us with smile. Then later our waitress came, frozen face, she apparently cannot speak good English. I asked for lunch menu and then she kept telling me the price is more expensive on Saturday. I said it doesn’t matter, do you have lunch menu? She kept saying it’s different price… I was confused and uncomfortable, I left without ordering anything. Personally, mediocre food plus horrible service? I will not come back again.

One of the best meals ever! Staff is helpful and very friendly. Empanadas and Arepas a must. You will have more than enough food… you will be able to share.

Horrible service. Restaurant had NO heat and it was freezing during the entire visit. Food was decent. Also, did not honor Groupon. Gave some lame excuse because we were a large party.

This place had delicious food and caring wait staff. They were a bit unorganized, but the food and friends wait staff made up for that. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

I don’t know where to start… but this was an atrocity from the jump… started as soon as we walked in the door. No one to greet or seat us… don’t know why it mattered since the place was empty… but we waited as proper dining guests would do… while we waited to be seated we were hit with a smell of poop. Now I don’t know if it was from pork or just sewage… but wherever it came from and whatever it was — STANK! My twins snickered and giggled because of the smell. Well we pressed on and ordered… we received our drinks in the cutest little mason jars. The tea was weak. Next our appetizers came out which was an empanada which was tasty which is more than. I can say for my pernil. It was cold and flavorless! No seasoning whatsoever. What? Are they watching out for people’s blood pressure? Hubby had the bistec which wasn’t seasoned. They had no hot sauce… wait staff said they were«looking» for some??? Nor did they have any sauce for my son’s tacos(chicken shrimp and steak) and they were drrrrrry. Mind u our yellow rice was hard as though it were old rice from the day before. We hurried thru our meals bc the smell was turning us off as well as the bland food. We went here because someone said that the food here was reminiscent of their abuelas cooking and based on that review and a few others that said the cooking reminded them. of home. We’ll apparently granny can’t cook! I shan’t return… EVER!!!(super cute dinner plates though)

Latin Quarters has delicious plantains and black beans and they make an amazing Mojito! My husband and I went there on a double date and everyone loved their meal. The guys ordered a pork dish that they all raved about! We are looking forward to going back.

It’s been a year since my first review and we just enjoyed another delicious, authentic Latin dinner at FlavorTown. So I thought it would be a nice time to update my original reviews again. We started with the spinach cheese empandas. The pastry is super light and fluffy and the melty cheese so yummy. Hubby had the Pernil — marinated pulled pork with mojo onions, rice and red beans. I had the El Pollo Caribeno — spicy jerk chicken with yellow rice and balck beans with the BEST salsa verde anywhere in Raleigh! It’s my favorite dish at LQ so it’s what I always order. The flavors are as spot on today as they were the first time we ate there. The jerk chicken literally falls off the bones(YES! The meat is served in a caldero on the bone!) The seasonings are *just right*. Hubby loved his Pernil and we finished with a nice Tres Leches. It was such a pleasure for Yesi to be our server again tonight; we always ask to be seated in her section. Her attentiveness to us(and all her guests) has been consistently excellent for a year now. It matters to Yesi that you have a great dining experience at LQ and she goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need, without being intrusive. If you haven’t had a chance to check out LQ, put it on your short list if you’re looking for some fantastic Latin cuisine in a friendly environment!

Pros Service was good, food came out really fast. The yellow rice was tasty and the tostones with ceviche were pretty good too! Cons I ordered Ropa Vieja and the consitency of the meat was horrible. You can tell the meat was overcooked cause it was a mushy blob instead of actual shreds of beef. I’m Cuban/Miamian so trust me when I say that this dish was jacked up. Not to mention it was super bland and they didn’t even have salt & pepper on the table for you to fix it! My husband had pernil, it was OK but we’ve had better. Lastly, the bar tender cannot make a Margarita! He tried like 3 times to no avail. I personally wouldn’t go back. Maybe the issue is they try to focus on being able to make a variety of dishes from different Latin countries, but don’t specialize in any. I’d rather go to a Cuban restaurant for Cuban food, a Dominican restaurant for Dominican food, etc.

I ordered the Caribbean style jerk chicken, it was great but can be a little more spicier.

I had the Cubano sandwich and my husband had the pulled pork mofongo. Generous portions. Could share entrees. Friendly waiter. Food was good. Ambiance was not really done which I didn’t mind. Food was good.

I don’t remember the last time I wrote a Unilocal review but I truly believe this place deserves it. A friend stumbled on this place on Unilocal and based on the reviews we decided to try it out one Friday night and we were not disappointed. They had a banquet event in the back section which made for some interesting music plus the place was a bit chili but those were the only odd points. The service was great from the server even up to the manager who did great interacting with our table. Now on to the food… it was awesome!!! I ordered the carribean style jerk chicken with the yellow rice and side of beans and it was delicious. Very tenderly cooked, though a bit spicy it was very good. My wife and I were later too stuffed for dessert but everything our table ordered was great. Even though my wife and I were visiting from out of state, I’d highly recommend this place.

Great food and great service. We have been here a several times and tried a number of dishes; none of which have disappointed. Ask for Yessi; she is lots of fun, and will add to your experience. For an appetizer I recommend the EMPANADAS. You get three flaky fried shell filled with your choice of beef, chicken, jerk chicken, guava, spinach with cheese, or pork with yellow rice. Get three different ones to try; they are are all great. My go to entrée dish is ELPOLLOCARIBENO: a spicy jerk chicken slow cooked with habanero, red chili pepper, jalapeño, & tropical spices. I usually order it extra spicy for some additional kick, but either way you cannot go wrong with this dish; spicy, juicy and delicious. If you have room for dessert, try the TRESLECHES. Be warned it is a large piece, so plan to share.

This is my spot! It’s close to my house and I can dance the night away. $ 10 cover after 10 or I should say at 10. 21+ The food is really great and the dancing is even better! I love the Spanish culture and this place lets me get my fix on a regular. I honestly go as much as I can. Lo mejor de todo! Bailemos

Best place to eat in Raleigh!!! They have daily specials and staff is amazing. ¼ chicken with yellow rice and beans is my favorite. Large food portions and I have never waited long to be seated. Check out their Facebook for buffet Sunday’s. Huge selection and you get to taste a lot of their signature dishes. They are great for birthday celebrations and Dj and live bands are outstanding.
