Mellow Mushroom

So, the family of five heads here after picture day and we’re happy we did. The kids ended up with slices that were large enough to have some left over, which is no small task for my boys. The avocado sandwich and the holy shiitake pizza worked well for the wife and I. BTW, the server absolutely KILLED it and was one of the best I have recently had anywhere. He should get a raise if he is always that good.

Just keep driving. We were starving lunch was a long time ago ordered the house special and special it was especially bad. The crust was burnt hardly any cheese no sauce to speak of. Our water glasses where never filled and a waiter with an attitude. Over all a very bad experience.

I come here because I like the freshie pizza and I will keep coming back. My input on this visit was the wait staff asking me if I was ok every 5 minutes. I was half way thru the pizza and she asked if I wanted dessert. I found out it was because her shift was ending and she wanted to cash out to get the tip. There has to be a more palatable way to transition for early to late employee coverage…

Their pizza is usually above average but tonight’s endeavor has me asking questions. Was told I had a valid coupon when I called in for our take out order. Upon arrival, a different employee told us said coupon was invalid and decided he could give us half its value. Then he proceeded to inform us about what a huge favor he was doing for us. He would have been more convincing had I not actually opened the sausage pizza I ordered. I believe sausage is a generous descriptor of this pie. It looks more like a cheese pizza that may have have accidentally had sausage roll onto it from the toppings of another one.

Great food — bad attitude. For years, I’ve been getting pizza from them, and coffee in the morning from the Starbucks next door. Today, Mellow Mushroom had their parking lot blocked off — preventing Starbucks customers from using it. AT 6:00 AM. Mellow Mushroom was not using it — they just wanted to prevent Starbucks customers from using it. Well, I’m one of those customers. Correction — I used to be one of those (Mellow Mushroom) customers.

Recommend the ‘White Rabbit,’ half and half vegan style with daiya cheese. Never realized how incredible Mellow Mushroom crust was.
Sat outside on a beautiful day, and the service was flawless.

We parked at mellow mushroom, ran across the street to use the atm before going back to eat. When said «owner» started yelling at us to come back. We tried saying, just a minute. He kept yelling saying our car would be gone by the time we finished… I went across the street to talk to this guy and tell him I was just using the atm and that he was being extremely rude. He proceeded by calling all of us bitches loudly, as he hid in his car and drove away.
What a coward, and poor customer service yelling at a bunch of females.

Great place! Once upon a time I went on a first date here. It was actually a group date (weird) and we ended up dating for 6.5 years, moving to Chicago and getting a pet bunny together after that. It didn’t work out in the long run but I’ll always love him. The pet bunny. I don’t remember what I had that first time, outside of witty banter, but this time I built my own calzone. They added green bell peppers which I actually kinda hate so that’s why the 4 stars and not 5. And honestly I feel bad about «hating green bell peppers» because there are starving children in the world and people who arent privileged enough to be able to choose green bell peppers on their calzone. Otherwise the food was yummy and I was served quickly.

Tasty pizza. Little bit pricy, but good service. Nice outdoor dining area if it is warm enough.

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite restaurants! I really love every food item I order here, there hasn’t really been anything that I find disappointing. The pretzel appetizer is PHENOMENAL and the pizzas are always perfection. I really enjoy that they have a tofu topping option – so good. Their margaritas are great and I’m very fond of their new veggie burger and the yummy potato side item that comes with it. Love the atmosphere too. It’s just as good as it gets.

We usually have a buce experience at Mellow Mushroom but this time was an terrible experience. I do not know if they chaged management but large parties have preference. We waited more than 50 minutes and they couldn’t accomodate us because we were just 2 people and they have in the whole restaurant just two tables for two people. We talked to the manager and he said that large parties have some sort of preference. It is not fair because we pay as the other costumers.
Tip, try to avoid this place if you’re dating someone because you are not going to be sitted.

Mellow Mushroom offers very unique pizza flavor profiles that you won’t find at your typical pizza restaurant. I love the fluffy pizza dough and fresh top quality ingredients they use. The dough is so soft and fluffy and isn’t really dense and filling to eat like at regular pizza places. We ordered a buffalo chicken pizza that was topped with grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch, mozzarella, carmelized onions, and bacon. It wasn’t too over the top buffalo flavored, which I liked, and the bacon and onion gave it an extra crunch and flavor to break up the buffalo and ranch flavors. It was an overall well balanced pizza that wasn’t too over the top buffalo flavored.
We also tried a limited special pizza whose name was a play on «don corleone». It had pepperoni, Italian sausage, mozzarella, fontina, basil, and various other Italian spices. It was very good and definitely has a more «Italian» taste to it. I really liked the fontina cheese and fresh basil. It was a great addition to offset the salt from the meat. Overall, I’m a fan of Mellow Mushroom and would recommend them if you want to be adventurous and try some unique pizzas. While the pizza is pricey, you are getting good quality ingredients and pizzas taste fantastic.

Don’t come here if you are looking for an authentic Italian pizza, because the pizzas here are super Americanized. But that isn’t to say that they aren’t delicious! I love their crust and the uniqueness of many of their specialty pizzas.
My favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza, with ranch and as «hot.» But «hot» is still pretty mild to me. I’ve also tried several of the other specialty pizzas such as the Maui Wowie and Holy Shiitake Pie. The only pizza that I wasn’t a huge fan of was the Thai Dye. It wasn’t bad, but I just realized I didn’t really like curry on my pizza. Another item on the menu that I have had a lot is the Garlic butter and Parmesan pretzels. They aren’t like your typical salt pretzels. These pretzels taste more like their pizza crust and they even come with a side of their red sauce.
As for the décor and theme-​ing, they really have it nailed down here. It is a very laid back, mellow atmosphere, as the name suggests. The staff is very friendly and pretty laid back, but still attentive. On our latest visit, we went for my Dad’s birthday and our server let us know that on your birthday you get a free cinnamon sugar pretzel! So at the end of the meal we were surprised when he brought it out in this huge pizza box. They had made the pretzel into a huge peace sign, which was pretty cool! So if it is your birthday, then let them know!
Tips:
–Parking can be an extreme pain during peak hours.
–Download the Karmma app on your phone to earn rewards! And they even have a game that can earn you reward points. So let your kids play while you wait for a table!

I’ve gotten to go pizza here twice now. Both pizzas were great. I like the interesting selections and haven’t been disappointed either time.
They have a nice outdoor seating area and I hope to dine in as the weather cools.

I’ve never actually been a huge fan of Mellow Mushroom. I don’t really like their pizza (I’m more of a Brixx or Ruckus pizza gal) but after playing tennis yesterday, I was outvoted about which restaurant to visit. ;)
All the other girls at my table ordered salad and kept gushing about how amazing their salads are so I decided to order the Greek salad and add shrimp…
And boy did Mellow Mushroom prove me wrong! The salad was downright amazing. I absolutely loved it. They did mess up a few parts of our orders though which is why they only received 4 stars.
Dressing was mixed up for two of us and one person did not have their ham on their chef’s salad but still delicious!
They have a $ 5 mimosa and $ 6 bloody mary special on Sundays. Those really aren’t «special» prices in my opinion. I would drop them both down a dollar to be comparable with other Raleigh restaurants on Sundays but I will DEF be back! (which I’ve never said before about Mellow Mushroom). :)

I brought my bestie and husband here because I had only been here once about 10 years ago and wanted to try something new before heading to the movies. It wasn’t very busy and I think it was last Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Our waitress was amazing. She’s kind of short with a short, blonde cut. She was attentive without being hovery and our drinks were never empty! We all shared the pretzel app and they were super yummy then we all got personal pizzas with varying toppings. I regret getting the pretzels because I couldn’t finish the personal pizza. It is fairly sizable and really filling. Very happy about our food and the general ambiance/​chill vibe. I would love to get a table outside this summer for some people watching! I will be back here today more pizza!!!

This was our first visit to Mellow Mushroom and we really enjoyed it. We sat outside, it was a gorgeous day and the whole vibe was chill. Service was great and we found the menu selection to be very good. We had pizza the night before, so we went for hoagies.
The hoagie roll was perfection. So good in fact I’m trying to source it to use at home. No matter how delicious the sandwich filling is if the bread is lousy, the sandwich is not good. This was not the case. We ordered the Mushroom Club, the Spiked Sausage and the Meatball.
The Mushroom club had tremendous flavor– the bacon, Swiss, caramelized onions and grilled mushrooms on that wonderful roll– it was hoagie heaven. What the Spiked Sausage lacked in curb appeal it more than made up for in flavor– that hoagie was delicious. The Meatball was a meatball sub, very good, nothing out of the ordinary and we would order it again. We will definitely go back to Mellow Mushroom.
