Really cool club in a great developing area of downtown Raleigh. Right across the street from a great bar that’s much more casual(i.e., wear anything you want) as a change of pace from Myst which made me remove my hat(i had to put it in the car) to get in. The club has a good amount of space on the inside and a good-sized stage. The bar is huge.

I came I saw I conquered. I paid a five dollar cover and then seven dollars for a rum and coke and that’s well rum. Back story: I’m a white female from Chicago and LOVED this club but complained To the bartender about the expensive drinks that coupled the cover charge. He claimed we wouldn’t like the club in about an hour(implying we were white and the majority of the club is black. Little did he know this was our culture being from Chicago). I LOVED this place. Everyone was friendly and approachable and he music was GREAT after 11. Seriously. It worth it to check out but be willing to pay a cover and an expensive drink price. That’s why is four stars for me.

While I am not into this club scene, this place was sold to me as being a lounge. Nope, its a club that has lounge seating. The VIP area is very plush and by far the best that I have ever been in. It’s spacious and ideal for dancing amongst your crew without strangers stepping up to you. Outside the VIP seating, is a midsized dance floor that stayed crowded. There were plenty of guys on the dance floor which was a plus for me. Since ladies are free all night at Myst, I assumed the floor would be filled with ladies dancing. However, There were ample of dancing men to shake a tail feather with. I didn’t notice anyone smoking in the venue but there were plenty of fights throughout the night. This is actually how my night was cut short; I can’t do drunk, ignorant fights. The saving grace is the bouncers were able to escort the fighting participants in a timely fashion without causing much disturbance to the ambiance.

LOL, does no one go here? Only one review? Decided to explore Glenwood a little more then just the usual Solas and Noir. You can definitely hear the music blasting across the street if you get a room at the Hampton. Its totally a typical club. Bouncer, free cover for ladies, one long bar with limited quality whiskey on the shelves. The dj was mixing it up and had some very artistic transitions but skillfully executed. Dancing floor was crowded. Two dudes and a girl were getting in a heated conversation, but the two bouncers were there trying to dispel the situation. VIP seating looked comfortable, surrounded the dance floor. No coat check, smoking on the patio outside for decent people watching, round the corner from Zaky for a late night bite. Stay hydrated and make safe choices after leaving the club, the streets are lined with cops.

I’ll start off by saying I’m just not a big dance club goer in my last few years, but I did like them in my younger days. I did have the chance however to go to Myst recently and enjoy an event there. I have to say, I enjoyed my night out there very much. A very nice club addition to the Glenwood South area of DTR. The space and club interior are very cool. Lots of open space. Great sofa/table lounge or VIP looking areas lining the perimeter of the dance floor, very comfy to park and relax. Great light show(see pic I nabbed before the crowd came) and general layout, I liked it. The bar was well stocked and had great lighting as well. The staff was the plus that night, as my interactions with staff and management/ownership was two thumbs up. That makes a difference in these type of places. Bartenders with great positive attitudes, smiles, and attentive with service… I enjoyed it. The owner checked on the patrons to make sure everyone was having a good time as well. Security maintained a presence without being overpowering or overbearing, VERY important to convey a good attitude(as a past doorman myself, I can relate). DJ did a great job with music and keeping the crowd pleased. People were on the dance floor enjoying his music all night and the crowd all appeared to enjoy the club. I enjoyed the visit for sure. The club does have coat check($ 1 that night), but just note it is in the back as you are going towards the bathrooms(not at the front door). Bathrooms were clean and well maintained at this time, no complaints there. Bottom line: Great dance club experience on Glenwood South. I hope these guys have staying power and keep the party going. Fun night out!
