This place is horrible. The food was flavorless, the beef as tough as shoe leather and overall, unsatisfying.

Better than kanki and half the price. Hibachi is awesome and the appetizer’s are really good too.

Best shrimp sauce I’ve ever had in my life! Everything is fresh and tasty. My kids love the kids selections. You can get a plate of rice, shrimp, broccoli, and a drink for under $ 5 for your children. Much better than a fried fast food. Great hibachi!

My hibachi steak was fine I guess, I ate it because I was starving. It was hot. That’s about all that’s good here. The place is a dump. The staff did not speak English and I was only able to get a question about the menu answered because I speak Spanish also. Yes you heard that right, the language that the staff spoke instead of English at Japan express, was Spanish. The condiments are thrown together and looked old, I did not touch them. The forks were unusable, unable to pierce a piece of steak. They really skimped on that, I hope it was worth saving a little money. I ended up using a spoon to eat with. The bathrooms were not clean, and neither were the tables, which gives me an idea of how much effort they put into keeping the kitchen clean. I would avoid this place unless you are in a food emergency and simply must have a hibachi dish with white rice. Otherwise go elsewhere

I walked in and the gentleman behind the counter asked me if I was ready to order. I stated that this was my first time here so I would look at the menu for a moment. He took a long time to come back to me, there were no customers waiting behind me, thank goodness. I ordered the combination of spicy shrimp and cucumber sushi. It was awful. There was no flavor in either of the two kinds. The fish was cut into little pieces as if it was supposed to be used for something else. And even though it only cost around six dollars, it was six dollars I threw in the garbage because not only was it not filling, it tasted bad. There was a ton of spicy mayo on top, maybe they thought that would camouflage the lack of fish with flavor. If you are in the Kohl’s shopping center and are hungry for sushi please stay away from this place. You’ll thank me.

Went here the other day– it was ok. Not the best but passable. Sushi is made to order(instead of premade like other hibachi places) but was blah. I’d go back in a pinch but won’t be rushing. Service was fine.

The hibachi chicken is out of this world. I love the veggies that come with it. Yum!

I loved this place and so must others because almost all of the booths were full when I left and people were still coming in. I got Shrimp Fried Rice, a Spring Roll, Salad with Ginger Dressing, and Crab Rangoons. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I loved the YumYum and Ginger Sauces on my rice(mixed it in) and loved the hot mustard on my rice as well(I always mix that into my rice and LOVE it). The restaurant is super clean, portions are generous and are very reasonably priced. They are very nice and really care about good customer service. Call ahead so you don’t have to wait for them to cook your meal. Not a bad wait though…8 minutes, maybe. I will DEFINITELY go back. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal!!! If you want fancy, expensive Japanese go to the Kanki. If you want a more casual atmosphere, more reasonably priced, and a quicker, more convenient meal, go to Japan Express. Highly recommend.

The food is not satisfying and lacked flavor. I got the yakisoba which really was just lo mein and it was very overcooked so it just fell apart into small pieces. There was a lot of the noodles but minimal chicken and veggies. It was a good thing I got it to go because when I got home I added lots of my own seasonings to it.

I’ve had the California roll and hibachi chicken. Never been disappointed. If you are looking for an upper scale Japanese restaurant then go elsewhere. I like it because it’s affordable, tasty and quick.

I ordered the Hibachi Chicken. Chicken was good quality and veggies were fresh, but the food was so salty that I couldn’t finish it. Lots of potential, but a bit of a let-down.
