I’ve always been a fan of Shane’s Rib Shack. I was surprised to find one in Raleigh, NC! It was a further north for me but I didn’t mind the drive. The food was consistent like the other locations that I’m used to(Greensboro, NC). I ordered the full-rack of ribs. It came with 2 large sides. It was enough to feed 2 – 3 people. The mac-n-cheese was on point. The potato salad was on the sweeter side and was just as delicious! I love the variety of bbq sauces that Shane’s Rib Shack offers, it goes well with the meal. Overall, the price was fair! I’m a fan of the peach tea! I can’t wait to visit again!

I stopped here for dinner w/family. We had the ribs, burger, wings, shredded pork, fries, fried okra, chicken strips and apple cobbler. I’ll admit this is not your smokehouse kinda barbecue, but it’s the best we have in Raleigh. The ribs were falling off the bone. The strips were ok(I wouldn’t order that again) but everything else I would come back for. My favorite was the shredded pork. The apple cobbler was surprisingly good. Cashiers are young and smileless…

Decided to try this place for BBQ and ribs. Got the Sampler platter which had ribs, chicken tenders, and pork BBQ. Also got okra and mac and cheese for my sides and the peach sweet tea to drink. Everything was pretty good. I enjoyed the food, but wasn’t wowed at all by the BBQ. I’m a NC guy, and our BBQ(Eastern NC pulled/chopped pork) is the best. I’m willing to try and enjoy other styles, by theirs was just OK. I liked the ribs and tenders though. Sides were also good. I liked having the choice of side BBQ sauces too. Staff was great here… they were doing their closing work a little prior to close but left/made everything a customer would need available. I came in a bit close to the bell on a Sunday night, but didn’t feel rushed at all to leave and was still there a few minutes after 9pm. Restaurant was also very clean. Overall, pretty good spot. Try it out!

Great food, but untrained cashiers will over charge you and make you repeat what you just ordered because she wasn’t paying attention

Whereas this place may pass for a BBQ joint in NC, it wouldn’t last a day in central Texas. Seriously disappointing from the overcooked ribs to the galacticly overcooked and dried out chicken to the canned Mac n cheese. No BBQ product saw fire much less smoke. This one’s marked off the list permanently. As long as hungry and naïve shoppers abound, establishments of this sort will flourish.

My husband and I ordered the barbecue sandwich with coleslaw. It was tasty but very light on the barbecue, heavy on the slaw. For the money, I expected more barbecue. The sweet tea is just okay, not great. I would possibly go back but won’t go out of my way.

Weekday lunch before getting on the road. The chicken tenders sandwich I ordered included bacon and cheese, and the tenders were coated in bbq sauce. I ordered mac n cheese as my side. Food was delivered quickly. The sandwich had a good portion of chicken tenders. The barbecue coating gave the sandwich a nice flavor kick.

Fantastic ribs, great barbecue chicken. Would have liked it if they had greens for a side dish, but bit enough to dock them a star. Both myself and the wife were very satisfied. With other local places liker The Pit dropping in quality, we were looking for a new barbecue place. Had been to City Barbecue a few times, but was underwhelmed. This is going to be out new BBQ place.

I’ve been to Shane’s Rack Shack a couple of times so far. I usually get their sample combo so I can try different. Rib selections always been tender. Chicken strips meaty & sides were adequate. Always plenty of seating & spacious interior with outside seating. Nothing fancy but for eats.

Yummy! Down home feeling w delicious food and lots of it for a great price! (Only complaint is that they would play country music and not pop.) lol! Still 5 star worthy!

This is my favorite rib place. Ribs are always meaty and juicy. The barbque sauce is awesome. The staff is pretty nice. Price a bit high, but worth it. Always fast service!

We went to this place last night for dinner and it was amazing. The cashiers were very helpful since we had never been there before. It was a quiet, clean, family atmosphere. We didn’t wait ling for our food and when it arrived it was hot and smelled amazing! The pulled pork was mouthwatering, the sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly, and the Mac n’ cheese was creamy. My girlfriend had the half rack ribs with dry rub, baked beans, and regular fries. The dry rub on the ribs were just the right amount of heat and sweetness, the baked beans tasted homemade and her fries were perfect. I tried the different sauces they have on the table and we liked the original and spicy bbq the best. We will definitely be going back for good southern bbq!

Unilocal really let me down on this one. I had the sampler with a side of potato salad and mac/cheese. The buffalo strips were okay but the pulled pork and ribs were barely average. The food was flavorless even after dousing it with 4 of the possible sauces and not really warm. The macaroni side was cold. We waited over 10 mins for the food and it was not particularly crowded for a Monday night. The servers were friendly and helpful. It was clean and the staff did work to keep the areas neat. I wouldn’t go back because there are plenty of other better choices.

As I was having a conversation about ribs I had a craving. I wanted to try someplace new that I hadn’t been to before, or at least go somewhere that I knew had smack yo’ mama good ribs. After a toss up between The Pit, & Chili’s, I decided to go to Shane’s. It was totally left field. First parking can be a nightmare in this location, unless you feel like a little walk. Not far anyway, just park at Babies R Us. This is not a normal restaurant with waiter service, but more of a fast casual style restaurant. You walk up to the register to place your order, then when ready, they bring it out to your table. Then again Hardees does that too. Well, the cashier was extremely nice and helpful with plenty of menu suggestions. She suggested the 2 meat combo so I could get ribs, and ½ chicken. With the food, I think the cashier is young, and just does not know what good food is with the yes, this is all great recommendations. Let me start with the ribs. They had no flavor. Sure, I could have added tons of sauce to the meat, but I didn’t go to taste BBQ covered tasteless meat, I went to taste ribs. On a 1 – 10 flavor scale, I give them a 2. They were tender, juicy and fall of the bone, but lacked flavor. For the ½ chicken, it was smoked almost done, and very juicy. It had a little bit of flavor to it, more than the ribs. They add minimal seasoning to the meat before smoking it seems. Sometimes less is more, but not in this case. I would give them a 5 our of 1 – 10 on the flavor scale. For sides I had a salad. Yes, I did add salad dressing because salad is bland, and you add the dressing to cover up the bland taste. But the salad was not even cold. The worst part is that they ran out of bowls, so they poorly ripped take out containers in half, and served the salads in that. The presentation was low budget. Also I had a potato salad. The out of the container potato salad was the most enjoyable thing I ate, and it was not even that great. Most rib/BBQ places give you hush puppies with your meal, but not Shane’s. I was told that I could get hush puppies, or a side. How cheap is that. Eating here tonight was an experience. An experience like hitting your pinky toe on the coffee table. You might do it again, but that doesn’t mean you really want to.

Four stars for the ribs! Three for the BBQ Pork. Two for the sides. One for the tea! First and only experience so far was a weeknight. Husband had been before and wanted the Smoked Chicken Salad, which he really liked again. He likes the smoky flavor of the chicken which is coated in mayo and served on buttered Texas Toast. If all that wasn’t bad enough for him, he got fries to go with it. Bad for him or not, he did like it! Then again, I sure as heck couldn’t say anything about his lack of healthy eating when I got the Pick 2 with ribs, bbq pork, mac n cheese and green beans, with a slice of Texas Toast. You pay at the counter, get a number on a skewer, get your own drink, then sit down and wait. They have booths and tables. We chose a booth. Warning: maybe the worst tea I’ve ever tried! I’m an unsweetened tea gal, but appreciate a little added flavor(usually lemon). When I spotted peach tea, I added a few squirts to my unsweetened tea. YUCK. It was beyond sweet. I couldn’t drink it. Poured it out, got plain unsweetened tea and that was mildly yuck. Food: Took awhile… this is definitely not fast food! It’s also a LOT of food, and let’s face it, beyond unhealthy. This style of cooking is for veggie-haters. Broad Green Beans are cooked to death in a greasy broth until they have no flavor. TIP: Add some of their cayenne sauce to make it edible). Mac and Cheese is tasteless mush. TIP: Add some of their mustard bbq sauce… it makes it edible!) Saving grace: the RIBS… meaty, smoky… finger-lickin’ good! BBQ Pork… plentiful, not too fatty… better with added sauce. Sauces: Love the CHOICES! Spicy one was not spicy though. Faves for me were the mustard one and the honey bbq. Even the cayenne sauce was not spicy. Quantity: Large! I had dinner from my Pick 2 with 2 sides, ate more for lunch, and still have another meal left.(For $ 13.99). The question at this point is, do I even want the rest of the leftovers(now that the ribs are gone?)

I’d give Shane’s 3 stars but considering I only order one thing here which I absolutely love I’m bumping them up a star. I go to Shane’s for Baby Back Ribs, smokey baked beans and slaw. That’s it. Period. End of story. The ribs are fall off the bone. The chicken is dry. The ribs are fall off the bone. The pulled pork is bland. The ribs are fall off the bone. Well, you get my drift. I like the ribs. Not the best Baby Backs in the world but for a semi fast food establishment they ain’t bad. If you like ribs like I do it is great to find a place you can get in and out of quickly without breaking the bank.
