Excellent. The food was great & so was the service. Nice casual burger place with upscale tastings food. We had the grilled chicken — very good & fixings to order.

1st time here. I had the bacon burger with goat cheese. I went with goat because there other choices didn’t appeal to me. They don’t have provalone which I thought was strange.. Just American jalapeño jack… goat and blue cheese. The burger was ok. Not gods gift to burgers. there are better burgers for the same price point imo. What was amazing and makes this place stand out to me was the shoe string onion ring. Where the hell have these been my whole life??? They where expertly fried not burned. not too much grease and I could tell they were onion, with a huge onion flavor. As for the service, I started off by saying to more than one employee that this was my first time there and I wanted to know what was good. They gave me the typical«everything» answer. which I hate. I was left with guessing. The guy who took my order was multi tasking and training someone and at one point I just stood there after he took my order wondering if we were done or not. He apologized and finished the transaction, it just stood out as weird to me. Train others second.. customers first. I’ll be coming back for two orders of shoestring rings and skipping the burger.

Our family favorite for a quick weekday dinners. Truffle mushroom burger with jalapeños on side and sweet potato fries is a winner for me. They have really good service. Highly recommend this place.

I loved the food and the service! The Smash Fries should be illegal they are that good! Food quality is stellar! I was with a huge group with small kids to grandparents, vegetarians, and everyone loved their food! We will definitely be back!

This is by far the best burger place in town! I love their seasoned fries and their sweet potato fries. Their chili burger is my favorite thing there. I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere of the place. And they have pickle chips! What’s not to love about that?

Great to have different options for your burger than other places, but still the same overall quality and price for value as Five Guys.

First impressions. It’s 2 pm, so not the hype of the shift. Walk in and are greeted. Lady working register seemed a little laissez-faire and ready to get off work. After ringing us up, she shouted, «ugh, I can’t believe it’s not 3 o clock yet.» She was ready to go home and it showed to the whole restaurant. Food: burger and fries were great. Meat was moist but still a little chewy. Well done burger is the way they’re done here. The normal bun(egg bun) is fantastic! Soft and slightly sweet to the palette. Sweet potato fries were perfectly done and super hot upon delivery. Food earns the stars and customer service brings it down to only 3.

Sweet Potato Fries were TOP Notch! If it were not for my Friends Birthday I would have never come back! Out of everywhere in the World this was his Choice(I guess he did not want me to spend too much)? He enjoys a well-done Burger too… Burger was pretty good, not my Favorite and for the Price I guess I would give it 3 stars tough the Pretzel Bun was closer to 4 stars and WAY better than the buns at Kamado Grill ! ! ! For the Price I would NEVER come back because I can get the Best Burger in the Triangle for just a little more and the BEST is way better than here, though those sweet Potato Fries best a lot of places! My first visit I only got Onion Rings

Weak! You can get a better burger and fries at Wendy’s. Not worth it and won’t be going back.

The burger was fresh, tasty and hot. A little bit pricey for me 13.00 for a bacon cheeseburger, pickle chips and drink. My order came out pretty quick and cashier was really nice. Hands down I love FIVEGUYS way better!!!

Meh. I had the classic smash burger. It was good. I would have it again, but I wouldn’t rank it near the top of best burgers in Raleigh. My daughter had the hot dog(the bun was ridiculously hard) but the dog was tasty. All in all, decent food experience. The service is good and the establishment is clean.

Had my first try at the latest burger concept to hit Raleigh. I had the barbecue burger and the signature french fries. The burger was decent although a bit small and overwhelmed by the much larger done. The onion rings were but tasty edition. The french fries are mediocre. They were not hot and did not have as much flavor as I expected. For me, Five Guys is far better.

OK first, when you arrive to a fast food join and the cashier does not even greet you but keeps reading a magazine, completely ignoring the fact you just arrive to the counter, that’s not good so zero stars on customer service; even more awkward, the person who ignored me did not even took my order, another nice lady did so I went ahead and order the basic hamburger, nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just what you are supposed to do best, right? I have to disclose the fact that the only reason why I came to this place was before I had a discount coupon for $ 2 so I thought it would help in case I did not like it so I would not feel guilty for spending that much. The cheapest item on the menu is $ 4.99 which is the small classic burger so in order the big one for $ 5.99, $ 6.42 with tax minus $ 2 for my coupon…$ 4.42 total… what a steal, right? Well, even at $ 4.42, I consider this thing not worth the money; it was not bad bad a $ 7 burger should be at least good, this one was nothing different than five guys and over there they give me peanuts for free and the combo with fries cost me what I paid here for the burger alone. Did I have any issue with the food? No. Do I think this is a $ 7 burguer, nope. This is a $ 4 burguer Max, nothing fancy, nothing spectacular, overpriced and disappointing. Chargrill or five guys do a better job and I get most for my money.

Sunday evening visit to Smashburger — 1st visit to the Raleigh location. I like that as you enter the order area they have menus for you to pick up and then leave at the counter — so much better than waiting until you’re at a counter and making a choice from a menu board. I ordered the Carolina chili Burger(chili, slaw, Duke;s Mayonaise and yellow onions which I omitted) with fries. My guest had the Bacon Cheeseburger. Order didn’t take long to be brought to the table. My burger was a delicious multi napkin mess! I think the slaw was the special touch to the burger. Appreciated that several employees checked on us and made us feel like they were glad we had chosen to dine here.

Smashburger is really a 3.5 to me but that’s close enough to 4 stars to round up. It is really yet another burger joint in the triangle. I usually go with the make-my-own option to keep it simple: chipotle bun with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, fried egg, pepper jack cheese with a side of smash fries. I like that they keep their menu simple with a few signature options and then the make-your-own option. I’ve always had good service here that was prompt and efficient. The food is always fresh – juicy burgers with fresh veggies and crunchy shoestring fries. However, it’s not anything special. Nothing would prompt me to pick smashburger over five guys or elevation burger or even red robin. It doesn’t stand out, but it serves its type of food well. It’s a good place for a quick, simple, and delicious meal if you’re in the mood for some burgers!

My parents were in town for Mother’s Day & of course, most all restaurants were packed. None of us had tried Smashburger before & since it’s near my house, we decided to check it out. SO many choices, but that’s a good thing! I chose the Avocado Club. Thankfully, my parents ordered fries & I was able to eat some. :) The burger was fabulous. It was juicy & cooked nicely. The toppings were fresh & the bun was soft. Oh & the fries … lightly seasoned & cooked perfectly. The staff here are very nice & quick. We didn’t have to wait long for our food. The restaurant was also clean. Prices are reasonable, but parking can be tricky, since they’re in a busy strip.

I really wanted to try Smashburger before leaving LA, but I never got around to it. I was downright ecstatic when I heard that not one, but two locations were going to open in the Triangle area. Now, both locations are rather inconvenient for me, but omg Smashburger! Smashburger centers around the idea that the patty of a burger should be well-seasoned. They accomplish this perfect level of seasoning by smashing the patty and then using their lovely seasoning blend. I’ve had the privilege of trying most menu items, and my favorite is the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger — truffle mayo, sauteed crimini mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. «Truffle oil can make doo doo taste good.» — Lil Jon. While I don’t quite have Lil Jon’s experience with doo doo, I am a big fan of the taste of truffle oil. Mushrooms and Swiss make any burger awesome, and the truffle oil takes the burger over the top. Burger patty sizes are comparable to Five Guys’, possibly smaller than Char-Grill’s, and probably about 3 – 4 times the size of BurgerFi’s. The chicken is as formidable as the burgers, and the salads are absolutely huge. Smashburger has many quality sides to go with their quality burgers. Their Smashfries are fried in olive oil and rosemary. My favorite, however, has to be their buffalo fries. They are tossed in Frank’s Red Hot in seasoning form and served with ranch dressing. These are tasty, and worthy of the«buffalo» name, but probably not worthy of the upcharge over regular Smashfries. Tastes differ. Still, I’m disappointed in my fellow Unilocalers for their low ratings of this place. Smashburger is very good, and I’d highly recommend everybody to try it for themselves. If this place were either closer to me, or had slightly lower prices, then I’d probably weigh 500 pounds by now. Smashburger rules the higher priced, no-waiter-service tier of burgers. It is a cut above Five Guys/Char-Grill and light years beyond BurgerFi.

Smashburger is a fun concept that has just recently come to North Raleigh. It’s a sit-down burger spot that features hot, fresh and tasty burgers and fries with premium ingredients plus table service. The burgers are juicy, well cooked and nicely presented. The fries I tried were the Smashfries, tiny little shoestrings intensely flavored with oregano and served hot and crisp. Other offerings include grilled chicken, salads and home spun shakes. It’s a notch above your average burger joint, with premium ingredients and fast, friendly tableside service. While it seems to be popular with families and kids, it would also be a fun date night during less noisy times of the evening, and they are open till 10PM. It isn’t fine dining, but it’s got all the ingredients a good burger joint needs to deliver what you want in a fast casual meal. Overall do recommend.

I was excited to hear that Smashburger opened in one of my favorite shopping plazas in Raleigh(shout out to TJ Maxx and Home Goods). Initial impression is that the space is modern, comfortable, clean, but the floor is slippery. The menu seems to have something for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten free and the price point is good. I ordered the Truffle mushroom Swiss crispy chicken with a side of Smash fries(which cost extra). To start, the chicken filet was overcooked and the toppings, a spoonful of mushrooms and a small square of Swiss, were lost on the bun. The buns are grilled in butter and it was too much, it actually dripped while I was eating it. The Smash fries had a perfect balance of garlic and Rosemary, but were very greasy, almost too greasy to eat. By the end of my meal, there was a puddle of grease on the bottom of the bowl they were served in. With any new restaurant the opening struggle is real. Here the staff is clearly new and you couldn’t help but notice because they were so loud. There was one guy servicing the dining room, sweeping and talking to customers, while the rest hung around both sides of the register, at one point two were hugging and having some sort of moment. Overall, I found the food to be mediocre and greasy and the overall experience to be below average. I may give Smashburger another shot since it’s new and it’s in a plaza I frequent, but I’ll order carefully.

So this is the first @SmashBurger in Raleigh, NC. I must say that I am a fan of the food. It is Fast Casual, not your fast food type of place. So don’t expect a drive-thru here. The food is made fresh when you order, and you can custom tailor it to your liking. All of the food is high quality. The staff is nice, and the food is really tasty. I like the seasoning that they put on the fries. They do have many different options, including gluten free if your diet requires it. One thing that they have here as their local burger is a nice burger on a pretzel bun with chili, cheese, and coleslaw. I must say it is tasty. Now if only I could get it with Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, and crispy onion strings. Everybody that works here takes pride in what they do, and the food they serve you. So here is what I have tried The Smashfries: They are shoe string fries tossed in Italian olive oil, rosemary, & garlic. They seasoning adds a nice flavor to the fries. Bonus, they don’t charge you extra for the seasoning like Zinburger. Classic Smash: American cheese, Smash Sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles & onion on an egg bun. The Smash sauce adds a really nice flavor to the burger. BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar: BBQ sauce, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar & haystack onions on an egg bun. You can’t go wrong with a bacon cheeseburger. Well, you can, but they didn’t here. I am glad they used real cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. Carolina Chili Burger: Beefy chili, American cheese, chopped yellow onion, Duke’s Mayo & coleslaw on a pretzel bun. This was a really tasty burger. It is a little messy, but the messy burgers are the best. Truffle Mushroom Swiss: Truffle mayo, sautéed crimini mushrooms & aged Swiss on an egg bun. It has an interesting and unique flavor. Not for everybody, but you have to try it for yourself. Avocado Ranch Black Bean Burger: Fresh avocado, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato & ranch on a multi-grain bun. All vegetable, no meat«burger». For the vegetarians, or those trying to lose a little weight. Spinach, Cucumber, & Goat Cheese Chicken: Cucumbers, spinach, goat cheese, tomato, onion & balsamic vinaigrette on a multi-grain bun. An interesting thing, you can order this as a salad or a burger. Which is great if you are cutting out your carbs. Buffalo & Blue Cheese chicken: Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Sauce, blue cheese crumbles, lettuce, tomato & mayo on an egg bun. The blue cheese on this burger is definitely fresh, and very aromatic I will say. That means, it has some kick when it hits your taste buds and nostrils. The chicken was cooked just right, and I like the hot sauce. Veggie Frites: Fresh green beans & carrot strips, flash fried. I honestly don’t think everything should be fried(NC State Fair) but these taste pretty decent I must say. I have also tasted the Chocolate and Oreo Shakes. They were both very tasty. They serve them sort of old fashioned style, and give you the tin missing cup with the extra shake in it. I have to say, the price of the shake is cheaper than many other places that sell high end just mixed shakes with real ice-cream. I didn’t get a chance to try the salad, but I have to go back for it. The salad is ginormous compared to other salads that you get from Wendy’s or other places. When I saw them with a salad, I was like, it’s so huge. It was only $ 5.99. That is cheaper than Wendy’s and other places, and it looks like two of their salads. Full disclaimer, it might be an optical illusion with the odd bowl shape, but it is still cheaper than other places. Overall, I would say, this is a new burger place in Raleigh, and they will be able to compete with BurgerFi, Elevation Burger, Five Guys and the rest of them, as they are high quality. Plus I heard the owner say they are going to start selling local brews too. #345
