Sonic Drive In

I generally do not rare fast food establishments unless the service is exceptionally good (or bad) or if I encountered an issue the public should be aware of. Well, unfortunately, the service at this Sonic was way below standards and the cleanliness of the kitchen and employees was just as disappointing. Also, did you know the score is 90??? I have never seen a rating so low! But this was my 3^rd attempt in 3 years to patronize this Sonic. Each time my food had been served lukewarm (at best). I’ve never been to a fast food place that doesn’t serve hot, fresh food. Secondly, I tried to speak to a cashier and accidentally walked into the actual kitchen. The place was FILTHY. Like really dirty. Crap all over the floor, smelled awful. Disheveled kitchen staff. But what really got me is the Manager came out to speak with me and his clothes were dirty, he was unpresentable. Face was dirty. I was extremely confused and fully regretted eating the food they bought to our car 15 minutes earlier. Actually, they have me a free soda because of an issue with my slushy and I left it on the table for another patron to take. There’s no way I’m going back there or eating/​drinking anything from there ever again.

Food here is great… When there isn’t plastic or a hair in it.
My friend got a shake one time and it had a huge piece of plastic in it that he almost cut himself on, not only that we go back a few weeks later and gets a hair in his shake.
The wait times here are unacceptable. The drive through line mon-​fri at 10:45 is usually 10 – 15 minutes. The last time I got drive through I ordered 2 burgers and 2 sodas. I sat at the drive through for a solid 15 minutes waiting. After playing I never got a receipt and they immediately closed the windows and started chatting with coworkers when I needed to ask for sauce, waiting even longer.
Overall I like the food, but for the wait and terrible customer service I give them a 1 star.

Half priced slushes everyday from 2pm-​5pm! The best flavor combinations I’ve tried have been Lemon Berry and Pineapple Lemon. I’m a sucker for their cheese fries too! Lines can be long but I’ve been coming here for years so I dont mind.

The food is very good at this sonic however the employees on the morning shift are not all that friendly. I was told today that my bacon egg and cheese croissant is not something they carry which is what I almost always get, so I left without anything at all. Had a very friendly associate at the window a few weeks ago and was very happy with his customer service. So I went back today, was not pleased with the unfriendliness of today’s stop so I will be staying away from this sonic.

This location is horrible and SCARY!!! I don’t know how it has four stars.
I ordered a shake and there were granules in it that I hope were cookie bits, though they didn’t taste anything like cookies.

Friendly employees and decent food at a value price. I’m not a fan of the southern red hot dogs so if I want a Northern version, particularly regional, this is a good bet.
The Coney dogs are consistent, with lots of cheese and chili. The Chicago dogs are pretty decent with the poppyseed bun, tomato, sport peppers, relish, mustard, pickle spear and even the celery salt! Really can’t beat it for the price!
Wide selection of tasty milkshakes. Next time I’ll get it with out the whipped cream, which tastes as fake as it gets!

I thoroughly enjoy myself a Route 44 Cherry Limeade and some Ched «R» Peppers. But I am way more impressed with the service at this particular location than I am with the quality of the food. We stop here often because my kids play sports down the road. Each and every time we have stopped in, no matter what time of day or night, we have received not only good, but excellent service. I have spoken to the manager on a number of occasions to commend his workers and he has the greatest attitude. He really tries to mentor and train his folks to do above and beyond the usual fast-​food type of service. I will continue to give this location my business just because I want to reinforce the good work that is being done here that is rarely seen in other fast food restaurants. I would encourage you to do the same!

I love sonic and I’m so happy there is one close to NCSU. I find their grilled cheeses to be delicious– as well as the orange-​cream slush (if you like dreamsicles, try it). All their slushes are delicious too. and chili cheese tots. and hot dogs. I guess I like a lot here. The food is always hot and well prepared. Sometimes the employees here forget things like the sauce you asked for etc… which can be annoying, but if you aren’t driving through you can just press the button and they’ll bring you some. Also they have happy hour where drinks are half priced (great after a long day, especially in the summer) and right now I think they have a deal on milkshakes after 8pm. As far as fast food goes, this is one of my favorites.

The employees at this Sonic are great. Since this is the closest fast food place near my home, it tends to be my default food source when I’m feeling lazy– so it’s needless to say I’ve been here many times. I’ve never dealt with an employee here that was anything less than pleasant. Competent however, is another story. I’ve dealt with wrong orders multiple times, although unfortunately I often haven’t noticed until I’m at home. While the food here has never been horrible, there have been times where it wasn’t great. I’ve learned to not order Sonic Blasts from them anymore because they skimp incredibly with the toppings and I end up paying WAY too much for, in essence, gloried ice cream.
I’ve also learned to never order the chicken tenders from here. I did twice, and paid $ 7 for a meal with the tiniest, skinniest pieces of chicken I’d ever seen. I felt utterly ripped off (and still hungry after a $ 7 meal). Because I’ve never ordered chicken from any other Sonic though, for all I know this is just how Sonic rolls.
So overall this Sonic is by no means horrible, but it’s not great. I’m happy that if I’m going to get a messed up order and get ripped off for a meal, at least I’m getting a pleasant attitude and a smile with it. That’s more than I can say for many fast-​food restaurants.

We had our first meal here when moving to NC. Coming from LA and Boston i pride myself as a health nut (well, not the extreme type) and i generally drive past these places with distain. But food here is really not bad. In fact it’s awesome! I guess what makes a common (actually Sonic’s hot dog is very tasty) hot dog better is their service. Instead of the type of cold, indifferent and sometimes impatient attitude you get attentive service and people that bring good food to you with big smile. They even explain to us about the menu a little bit (just waaaay too many drink options there and they all carry a fancy name!) Not a bad start for a new life in the South!

I love their Strawberry Limeade! It always hits the spot. Their burgers & onion rings are always good & hot. They haven’t messed up my order once since I’ve been going there, it’s close so I go there a bit. I also have to get some Cheddr Poppers when I go too. That melted cheese mixed with that twang from the pepper is delicious. I think everyone should try them!

This particular sonic’s is not that bad, I really feel like this review is kinda cheating as I only get drinks from this place. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying there foods not good because I don’t know but what I am saying is there lemonade is off the chain. That being said there service is pretty good and the staff is friendly enough so I can’t complain. Next visit I have to try there food so I don’t feel like such a cheater, but until then get a cup of there lemonade and tell men its not the bomb!

Over the past couple months this local has exceeded on all these standards. With fast friendly service your food is fresh, hot, and the same every time. With a value menu that offers smaller portions of their big brother counter parts you can have cheaper alternatives without sacrificing on the quality of the food.

The menu is typical fast food fare but they’re grilled cheese is awesome and you can’t go wrong with tots. They’re drink and shake selection is to die for and the service at this location is spectacular. Head on down between 2 and 4 for a half-​price cherry limeade.

This place rules. It may be typical fast-​food, but these kids are on roller-​skates! I can barely walk with a tray of drinks, let alone jump off the curb on roller-​skates with them, so serious props to them. All of their employees are really friendly, even though I am usually just ordering a cherry limeade. The food is what you would expect, but at least it’s a cute alternative to any other chain in their area.

In my old town, I started a Facebook campaign to get a Sonic there. Now, of course, it ended up being a major coincidence that around the time I started this «campaign,» Sonic already had plans to build there. I still like seeing myself as a hero, however.
I set this backdrop so you get an idea of how much I love Sonic. The food isn’t that great – it’s mainly just fast food with a few unique items. But what really makes this place, to me, is the Drive-​In atmosphere with the folks rolling around on skates, and the huge variety of drinks and desserts!
I like this one on Jones Franklin because A.) It’s very close to my work, so when I bring gross-​looking veggies for lunch and decide to ditch it, I can hop on down to Sonic without missing much time. And B.) The staff are very friendly, and quick to point out how much I will «enjoy the Oreo Sonic blast,» and the service is quick.
At this particular Sonic, they have live music on Friday nights and Cornhole, (which, by the way, I had never heard of before and had quite the case of the giggles when I first saw the name.)
Sonic is a quick, inexpensive way to have some fun, and don’t forget about Happy Hour from 2−4pm for ½ price drinks! Mmm… cherry limeade.

Newly built so very clean and service is great. Chocolate milkshake is decent.
