Avoid the drive thru after midnight. Service is always extremely slow, and staff are frequently rude.

Food was great. Waitress was very nice. Cashier slow, unconcerned and unapologetic. Stood in front of her for about 5 minutes waiting to check out. Never spoke a word to me the entire time.

We had been here before and had a decent meal and service so that was what we were expecting. Well… our server took the order… delivered it and DISAPPEARED. I mean she completely disappeared never returning to the table again. I did not apply a tip and did leave a scathing comment on the receipt. The food this time was off compared to first time. Won’t be returning.

I am absolutely obsessed with the Garlic Steakburger(bacon added). A little greasy, but what tasty burger isnt?! The fries are a toss up. Sometime hot and fresh, other times saltless and soggy. Still worth a visit! You cannot beat the deals on their $ 4 and under menu!

Waited 10 minutes to get seated but I couldn’t sit down the table had not been cleaned then she cleaned it with a dry napkin. Then we still couldn’t sit the chairs had food all over them. She got another dry napkin and just pushed the food on the floor. Then she left her tip from the previous meal behind letting me know she’s not the person who is up posed to be cleaning the tables. That’s why she only had a dry napkin with no spray or cleaner. Then she gave my kids menus with no crayons. After 10 more minutes my server finally arrives takes my order. 10 minutes I still don’t have my food yet. Let see what happens I’ve been here 30 minutes and all I have is a drink and an attitude. I hope they have another location because I like there food. But the service stinks.

Waited over 10 minutes for our server to get to us. Then it took 8 minutes to get our drinks. Place is half empty so this shouldn’t be a problem. When our food finally arrived we weren’t given any utensils. After asking for some we were finally given plastic utensils. We then had to ask(again) for napkins. Table next to us got their food before their drinks. WORST service I have ever received at a Steak n Shake. We will NOT be returning to this location!

Worst service ever. It was not busy and the food took forever. Milkshakes didn’t even come out until the end of the meal and we ordered them for when we first got there. She also took forever to bring us the bill. Will not return.

Worst service ever. Ordered Chicago hotdog with fries and a milkshake. The hotdog was gross to say the very least. Very inexperienced server and she was inexcusably slow. Milkshakes didn’t come out till long after the meal was over. Then we had to wait forever to get our ticket so we could pay. Do yourself a big favor and do not bother with this location. I normally enjoy Steak ‘n Shake but this location really just doesn’t have it together

Great shakes, good burgers! Sweet and polite waitstaff. Absolutely freezing inside restaurant! Some people even left before ordering because of temperature inside. We were told ‘We can’t do nothing about air conditioning’. Hmmmmm

Tried to call this location to order take-out late at night but no answer. We had to drive there and wait for our food at 2 am.

Had lunch here on a Friday a little after noon. I was immediately greeted and seated. Ordered one of the $ 4.99 specials — the Western BBQ Double Steakburger with fries and sweet tea. The meal was brought to the table quickly. Good flavor to the burger. This is a really good meal deal. For under $ 7 I dined in a restaurant with a server coming to the table to take my order with my food on a real plate and using real utensils. Certainly a good alternative to any fast food counter — seat yourself — eat wrapped food with plastic sporks place.

I haven’t been to a Steak ‘n Shake in about 2 years and I was craving it majorly. The last one that I went to was in Fredericksburg, VA and it was kind of crap to be honest. I was really craving it last night though so my bestie and I dropped by. Our server was Ben and I think he was new, but super nice and tried to be as attentive as possible. Frida(I think that’s right) was also really nice and super sweet. We both got double burgers but hers had Swiss and portobello on it. We got fries and an extra order of fries too because they are delicious. We threw down so immensely and it was pure happiness on a plate. The décor is cutesy and a nice throwback. There were at least 2 servers that were acting unprofessional and raising their voices near the registers along with arguing with each other, but our server wasn’t involved in that bit. Who doesn’t love a little drama with their 24 hour food experience?! I do, a little. Anyway, we threw down and we got milkshakes to go and they were freaking yummy. I left feeling full and happy. Our bill came to $ 24 for the two of us so we got 2 double burgers with fries, another large order of fries, 2 sodas, and 2 shakes so it wasn’t bad at all. I will definitely come back on a cheat day.

Food is good. But the service is the worst I have ever had anywhere. It is completely awful! They are rude, and are very slow to bring food and take order. When you get ice cream or milkshakes they are melted by the time they get there.

It seems to be poorly managed as the waiter took no less than half an hour before he came along and was brusk with us. Why not treat it as a fast food place and thus ease off the load from the people who have to wait? It is a hamburger, right? So why treat it like a sit-in restaurant when everything about it has the ambience of a fast food place? This has been the worst restaurant ever! Certainly I am never going back there. I had to come back home, starved and thankfully the house was in 2 minutes driving distance, opened a can of sardines and it hit the spot and there was no need whatsoever for Steak ‘n Shake.

It’s not so great burger like how other people described it, i suggest don’t order your food online first they do not label anything to help customer which are the burgers or shakes, 2nd even though it’s been an hour as soon you get to the restaurant your order still not ready.

Yeah. No. My burger was gross. The patty tasted weird. Like super freezer burn. The fries were cold and greasy. The location wasn’t the best at night. Even my milkshake tasted funny.. However the staff was very nice. Will not return. Go to cook out instead !

Two stars for the poor service, decent food, and run down furniture. I like the late hours, serving sizes, and vast shake flavors. But it is lacking on the service. My group of four stepped in with fours workers sitting down, and a manager and two workers behind the register but no one acknowledged us.(Possibly a shift change?) Although they saw us, they didn’t greet us and continued on their conversations. At this point I would’ve turned around but really wanted a shake. It took several minutes until they told us to just sit anywhere. After sitting down, someone came with the menus and only one(young, hardworking) person was working the floor. The manager and a worker constantly were just staring around and doing nothing while the main worker is obviously busy. This was very annoying and making us so unsatisfied due to the lack of service. I’m just glad the one worker was god at her job. Unfortunately, she had to do everything.

This visit is only the second since I have lived in Raleigh. At first I didn’t know why and then I remembered. The setup in here is great. Almost like it’s a diner from the 50s complete with table service and a hostess. If just for that I would totally be back multiple times. The menu. Yes yes yes I know. The pictures on the menu NEVER look like the actual item. So many burger options! My guest and I went for a double cheeseburger made the way we both liked it. When it arrived… NOW I remember why I haven’t gone back. That burger has to be ordered as a double or you wouldn’t even know there was meat on the bun. Very thin burgers. Not that it wasn’t good in the four bites it took to devour it. It was good though. And the fries are the thinnest shoestring I’ve ever seen. You have to grip a half dozen fries just to be able to dip them in ketchup. The sweet tea is liquid sugar and they are certainly proud of that fact here. My glucose level has probably never been higher since I dove off a railing into a silo of Jelly Belly beans(I am hallucinating due to the high level of sugar). Our server was Tabby and she was pleasant enough to joke with us a bit. Besides the grandmother who was extremely inefficient in disciplining a misbehaving child it was an A-ok type of visit. I wouldn’t come back solely for the burger and fries experience but I may come back to a decently priced quick meal. Those dessert shakes. When next I visit… you will be conquered.

I guess @SteaknShake has all you can eat(AYCE) pancakes too like everybody else now. The choice was $ 6.49 at IHOP, $ 4.00 at Denny’s, and $ 3.99 at Steak ‘n Shake. I decided to go to Steak ‘n Shake over the others, mainly because I am not a fan of IHOP’s pancakes, or Denny’s. When I went in the server walked me to the back and sat me right beside the restroom. There were plenty of empty other places as there were only 4 other tables in use. I was thinking, WTF, I know this place has a retro look, but this ain’t the 1950’s where you walk certain people to the back by the restroom and make them dine there in an empty restaurant. You only sit people by the restroom when the establishment is full. Who wants to sit and eat by the toilet anyway? I politely informed the server that I wanted to sit somewhere else, and she let me pick anywhere I wanted to sit. When I went in the server came over, and asked me what I wanted to drink, but never introduced herself. I told her what I wanted, and what I wanted to eat. the AYCE pancakes. She brought me my drink, and a few minutes later out came a stack of pancakes, with a tiny 1 ounce cup of syrup. What did they expect me to do with that? You get more syrup from McDonalds. Why they don’t have actual bottles like other full service restaurants is beyond me. I had to request more syrup as the single ounce of syrup left the pancakes dry. After I got more syrup I went ahead and put in a request for a second stack of pancakes. The first stack came out in a decent time, the second stack took 11 minutes to come out. I was wondering if they were waiting a long time to bring them out so the food would settle in my stomach and I would not eat as much. The server brought out another tiny cap full of syrup with the second stack of pancakes. After I finished the second stack, the manager was walking by and I asked her for a 3rd stack. This time it only took 4 minutes for the pancakes to come out. But they didn’t bring out any syrup with that stack. I guess they are trying to cut cost. Each time they brought out a stack of pancakes with one less than the previous stack. Maybe that was their way of counting down to let you know when they wanted you to leave. I don’t know. I would say that the quickest way to ensure you have a steady supply of pancakes is to sit near the server station, since they all huddle together and stand over there, that way you can request some when you are half way done with the stack you are working on.
