Food is great, but attitude of the female employee that worked this Saturday night was actually crazy. Got there 10 minutes before closing, multiple people there and two came after me. As I was walking up, the employee, in front of everyone, yells«Oh my God are you kidding me?!!» Pointing at me & the other customers & starts swearing then storms off in the back. I wish I was over-exaggerating. She then gets an attitude with the other two people that came afterwards. I was so surprised I had that reaction where you inappropriately giggle lol. I just couldn’t believe it. The older man working the grill didn’t react one way or another, so I have no idea if that is normal or not. When I paid I apologized for coming so late but the man didn’t answer me and just rang me up. My thing is this: it sucks that you have to work up until closing. It does. But you if you are open until 12, then you are open until 12. If you get annoyed or mad, that’s fine, but don’t pitch a fit like a toddler?! And treat customers poorly! I love Chargrill, but I’ll just go to another location lol.

I have eaten Char-Grill hamburgers and barbecue since 1965. I now use mostly the call in service which is always on time and am always greeted with a smile.

Being from NJ, I may be tougher than most as I compare every burger to Arthur’s from home. I had the ½ pound cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. A big serving of food, but really lacked in flavor. Maybe it’s because I didn’t get to choose how well done and a fully cooked burger is going to lack more flavor. That being said, the fries were delicious and the service was great. I may give it another go just may not get the burger next time.

I like the paper slip ordering, the feel of a place that doesn’t have an indoor seating arrangement and just a good simple burger. Nothing fancy here, ¼lb steak burger with mayo, cheese and extra pickles. The fries are also just as good. Kind of remind me of french fries you find at a county fair. I like this place so anytime I’m back in Raleigh I’ll be sure to stop by and grab some lunch.

If you are in the mood for a great burger, then you have to eat over at Char-Grill. You can get an old-fashioned experience and have a juicy burger. They were in the USA today years ago for one of the best burgers in the nations. The burgers are cooked made to order, so you might expect a little wait for your hot and juicy burger. But you can call or fax your order in for a shorter wait. They also have some great tasting thick milk shakes.

This classic burger joint just got new furniture and it looks nice. The food is fast and delicious; perfect for a family!

Forget the automated touchscreen computers at Sheetz… Char-Grill is going old school! They have little«order pads» at the window and you write down your order, and then stick it through a slot in the window. Very cool and unique. The big favorite seems to be the Steak Burger — which is pretty darn good!

I had a dream about Char-Grill last night, which prompted me to leave this review. The burgers are awesome. They may be frozen, but they taste like something right off the grill at home. I love thick-cut fries, and theirs are some of the best– usually cooked between«limp» and crispy, just how I’d prefer them. And the shakes are creamy and always just melt-y enough to suck through a straw. Perfect! I need to go here more often!

a SIMPLESTEAKBURGER stand that seems to get it right time after time. if you want a cheap tasteless burger, go to Micky Ds. If you want a good quality steak burger come here.

Burgers were all right. Fries were disappointing. Shakes were ok. Bathroom was quite gross and I honestly don’t know how they could get a 98 – 100 score(2 pts for food safety class) on their sanitation. Wonder if the health inspector is a regular there or she/he got a few meals for free…

I just don’t get what people like about Char-Grills. The«steak» burgers are frozen, are they not? I’d rather have 5 Guys or Cook Out where the patties are formed from fresh, never frozen quality meat, and a comfy place to sit down and a bathroom that isn’t icky.(note, i’ve never been in a Cook out restroom but still, i don’t like Char Grills). I can see where it might be a good midnight stop for a greasy burger and fries, or to get some munchies while walking through the Car Show that is there in the Summer, but as a place to purposely head out the door to go out to eat, this lil’ lady prefers fresh meat and a comfy seat!

Another great location with more parking than other Char-Grill locations serving burgers, BBQ pork sandwiches, hot dogs, BLT sandwiches. This location does a few picnic tables to use. The milkshakes at Char-Grill are not too bad either. Food B Staff B Décor C Location B Health Inspection Grade 100.0

When the weather is good for having the windows down, I’m surprised there aren’t more wrecks near Char-Grill with the smell of hamburgers cooking making you crave one right that second and swerve into their parking lot. Their burgers are consistently good. The hamburger steak jr. with fries is the perfect amount of food. If you’re still hungry, the apple turnovers(think McDonald’s old school apple pies) are great! Just know that they’re filled with molten apple lava which will burn your mouth badly if you don’t let them cool a bit before diving into one. The shakes are also nice way to finish off your meal. They only come in chocolate and vanilla(or zebra if you can’t decide). The hot dogs and char burgers are also very tasty. If you want a trip down memory lane with a good meal, Char-Grll is the place to go.

I just found another perfect place for late night grub after awesome BOSSE nights at the Big Boss Taproom. The other night I happened to head up north on Atlantic, and came across Char-Grill just when the munchies started to kick in. Everything here is your standard, no-frill, drive-in/drive-thru diner stuffs. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers, chicken sandwich and(Carolina) BBQ sandwich; of course there are less meaty options like a BLT or grilled cheese sandwich. But no matter what you choose, add a side of thick cut fries and a milkshake, you got yourself a nice meal even close to midnight. By the way, check out their website, and you can even download the menus from any one of their four locations, you can even fax in your order prior to pick up.

Stopped here because I love burgers. Good place if you like something good and cheap. I do think their burgers and fries taste ALOT like Cook Out’s, but it’s all good regardless. You can immeditately smell the food as you walk up. Extra points!

Consistent delicious burgers and fries every time I go. And the smell when you drive up, it is intoxicating in the parking lot. I love the junior burger and the cute bun it comes on. Not too much to eat with fries, just the right amount. The taste is perfect, it is grilled just right. I have been eating there since we moved here many years ago and I will continue to return as they keep up their standard of excellence. Thank you Char-Grill on Atlantic Ave. I know there are other Char-Grills but you & I have a perfect relationship and I don’t want to tempt fate.

I am always in search of a great burger. I have very tight criteria for what I like and Chargrill fills all of those. Number one is the service. Always fast. I like the walk up to the window. The smells of the grill hits you immediately and takes me back to the days of true drive up burger joints. The menus are great and you can pick and choose immediately what you want on your burger or to just upgrade it to a combo. Second, the food I always go with the ¼ lb hamburger Steak Jr Sandwich. The meat is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The buns are slightly toasted to add an addition crunch. Fresh condiments on the burger add to a great experience. The fries are fries. Nothing more, nothing less. The one thing that is good about them is the fact they don’t salt them to death. So many restaurants drown their friend in salt and it’s all you taste through your entire meal. Not with Chargrill. It has been around the Triangle area forever, and with one taste you can see why.

This place is a little walk down memory lane — not because I’ve been here, but I am old enough to have been to places like this. The architecture is mid twentieth century modern. All straight angles and abundance of glass. The ordering was a mystery until I saw a regular customer scribble her order on the order form. The staff just sort of shuffled around behind the glass and made no attempt to throw me a hint as to what I was supposed to do. At moments like this you feel equal measures of being stupid and infuriated that things are so ambiguous. I figured that a quarter pounder and fries would be more than enough, and it was. Although I initially thought my order was botched, as the wrapper looked to be concealing a hot dog! Well, never fear. It turns out the buns here are not round, but elongated. A very untraditional shape to be sure. The burger though is very traditional in flavor. We’re talking about a nice smoky flavored beef patty. Real slices of fresh onions and tomatoes. And nice fat fries cut from real potatoes, not reconstituted from mashed up potato matter. The truth is that the burgers taste more like something I would grill at home. Or the burger I once ate at a place in Harbor City called — Char Burger. Of course there were the trips to the old A&W drive in restaurants, which were similar to this, sans the smoky grilled flavor. All in all a burger that is more than a cut above the national chains. The only minus is that the setup is very impersonal. The non interactive ordering, and the very robotic waiting and pickup just doesn’t fit the retro feel of the place. Suggestions — save some trees and ditch the order forms. And may be throw in a little smile, huh?

I have not been to Char-Grill in a few years, so when I was working nearby I took advantage of the opportunity to partake in this great Raleigh experience. If you have never been to a Char-Grill, you have missed a most unique experience. It starts with you filling out the order form and sliding it through the little slot, then heading over to the side window to wait for your order number to be called. I ordered the Char-Grill Jr. with chili, mustard, and cheese. It comes with an order of fries. And as any good Southerner would do, I washed it down with a sweet tea. While I was tempted to enjoy this at one of the picnic tables, it was still a little too chilly for that, so I took it back to work and enjoyed it there. This is good local«fast food». Great sandwich, and a wonderful part of living in Raleigh.

This is my favorite Char-Grill location in town. For the most part they all have the same thing, but this one has a few picnic tables under a covered area as well as a few in a grassy area to the right where you can eat. On the weekends during the summer they’ll often do an old car show here so you can get some great food, and look at some vintage cars from the past-pretty neat stuff.
