Stuck in the Middle

Now, I’ve had cupcakes from all over the place. Sprinkles in Palo Alto. Esther’s Cupcakes in Sacramento. Let Them Eat Cake in Davis. And I have to say that Stuck in the Middle has given me the best cupcake experience of my life.
What makes it so divine? The cakey part, that is moist and not overly chocolatey? The beautiful decorations? Nope, I have to say the icing is the star. Not too cloyingly sweet; it practically melts on the tongue but still has a soft, tangy texture and taste.
My first taste occurred at a friend’s baby shower:

I was hoping to eat the tasty chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, but it was saved for the parents-​to-​be, who relayed to me later that it was perfection. But that’s okay — my cupcake expectations were exceeded! And when I brought one home for my mom she became a big fan, too!
