This has long been one of my favorites for special celebrations. Every time we go, the service and food are wonderful. I also like that we can make reservations. Recently I’ve started taking my elderly mom for lunch. There are only a few places I can take her because of her challenges with dementia, hearing, and walking. But at the Cask, the manager and the servers(in particular Lauren in the bar) are so kind and show such empathy that it’s a real treat for both of us every time we go. And, who knew? Their lunch menu is terrific!

LOVELOVELOVE this Place, they have a Fantastic Happy Hour, The Bartenders are Fantastic, when we come in, they know to have my Bloody Mary ready. My Wife & I would go there anytime, even if they were the only place in town. They are very friendly and the Rancho Cask has the Best Servers. We always make Reservations, never a problem with seating. The Food is Fantastic, Steaks are cooked to perfection. The Salad Bar is Fully loaded. Our Birthday’s are in March, so we Celebrated in the Bar area, invited about 20 friends service was great as usual.

I always when down to cask for the bar portion after class. I can;t speak much to the food that is not snacks but the drinks are ace. The servers and bartenders were always way nice and happy to help and make suggestions. I do suggest that you order some appetizers when you get in cause they have some really nice options but anything may taste great after an AMF.

Today I learned that a steak can be both dry and undercooked at the same time. My guess is that it was frozen and they did not let it fully defrost before grilling it. The most disappointing part is the fact that this was a $ 30 steak. It was their 10 oz filet mignon. Needless to say I will not be returning. The calamari was pretty good though and so were the mashed potatoes. Definitely not worth the money though. I do not recommend. The staff was very nice though. I would add another star for that reason if it was not for the fact that the steak was the worst steak I ever had in my life.

I went to The Cask n Cleaver last night for my Birthday on 2−15−16 in Rancho Cucamonga. I have been going there since 1999 a couple of times per year and the food was delicious as usual and the Manager George Franov seated me and took my order. Very Very friendly as usual and if you ever want the best tasting salad Bar in the area you must try it here. Everything was so fresh and you start out by picking up an ice cold plate from the line. There are many many toppings and of course a cover to protect contamination. I then sat back at my table and the Manager brought back some hot bread in a basket with real butter. I ordered my steak medium and got it exactly that way along with my Baked Potato with all the fixins .1st class all the way down to the charming old style booths and tables. I’ll be back again count on it. I just wish they would lower the light some a bit to bright for my taste.

Today was my second time there. After my first visit, I was so disappointed by food and service that I waited a few years before giving it a second try. Well, now I remember why I had’t gone back in so long. To start, the food quality does not match the prices. They are way overpriced for what you get. Second, immediately when you walk through the door, you smell cigarette smoke. Initially I thought it was my imagination, yet when I got up to go to the restroom, I had to go through the smoking room to get there. It was closed off and there was a thick cloud of smoke. So much so that I had to hold my breath going into and coming out of the restroom. Also, the décor is outdated. Definitely not the place to go for a nice evening out.

Wife and i are here 2 weeks ago. Waited over 5 minutes before anyone greeted us at the podium, host was busy socializing in the bar. The steak was ordered medium well, presented to us rare. Sent back for more fire. Steak had no taste. Would not rush back.

Haven’t been to this place since the 80’s, last night reminded me why. The so-called 8 oz. lobster wouldn’t have filled a cavity, it was also very chewy and tough. The fries were awfully hard, rice was very good, the chocolate cake for dessert was so-so, water was good. Had an honest server who apologized for the size of the lobster. Their prices are outrageous for what you get, I was truly embarrassed for my friends Will not go back under any circumstances!

The overall rating of a 3 is very accurate. This place is not horrible but it is definitely not amazing. Their Top Sirloin rivaled Norms and Sizzler, with this steak distinguished mainly by the price – not worth it. I will contest the rating of the service. They are very friendly and accommodating. Last, the décor was akin to a Las Vegas casino all-you-can-eat-buffet…if that’s what you like, you’ll like it; if that’s what you don’t like, you wont.

This Cask ‘n Cleaver was founded in 1967& the first one opened at an old ranch house, amidst the vineyards of historic Rancho Cucamonga. The restaurant is inconspicuous, it’s a bit hidden, nestled in a residential area, and the structure of the house is very, very old. It is DEFINITELY rustic. You can feel and smell the age upon setting foot into the establishment. Good news is that there is PLENTY of parking! Such a huge parking lot for this restaurant. The interior looks so outdated… it doesn’t look like any upgrades or changes were ever made. Perhaps the owners want to preserve the original structure & design? The place is not classy at all. If you’re looking for a place with a romantic ambiance, you’ve picked the wrong restaurant. The interior is all dated oak, the lighting is dim, the carpets are old & smelly, the décor is unappealing, & there’s this heavy, lingering musty scent throughout. Don’t expect much from this place. Why 2 stars? The service was impressively great. Our waitresses were soooo nice, so attentive, and kept checking up on us throughout the meal. Moreover, their mud pie ice cream dessert is gargantuan and amazingly good! The complimentary bread basket and steaks(10oz filet mignon &13 oz ribeye) were very disappointing. According to the restaurant, their steaks are all top choice Midwestern corn-fed beef, aged a minimum of 21 days to for flavor and tenderness, and they custom cut all of their steaks before charbroiling. However, the steaks lacked flavor and tasted poor quality. I can tell that these were not good quality cuts of meat. Our sides of mixed veggies and baked potato were pretty sad, too. For the low quality food, I feel that the prices are unjustifiable. The steaks were around $ 30 each(the filet a bit more). I liked the big portioned dessert and the service, but nothing else. Therefore, it wouldn’t be worth the drive from where I live & I’d have no incentive to come back…

Been coming here for years and are never disappointed. Yes it could use updated décor but then again it’s part of the charm. Most of the staff have been here fur quite some time so that’s says something fur the management.

The Cask and Clever is a sleeper. The food is outstanding and the service is 5 star. Jennifer was our server. She was knowledgeable, dependable and personable. The wine list is second to none. I can’t stress enough that this stop, is a Home Run… James

Ah, the old Cask and Cleavage… As we used to call it back in the day! There used to be one in Redlands, and when I learned that there was one in Rancho, I was eager to give it a try. I seem to recall being served warm, fresh dark bread(a la Outback) … But what we got was a couple of dry old pumpernickel rolls and two sourdough rolls. The rest of the meal was great — we split a prime rib entrée and the chef plated it for us on two plates. Cooked to perfection– with fresh steamed broccoli, baked potato, and a very crisp green salad. The service was prompt and polite as well. Now let’s talk about ambience– yes it’s still the old décor from yesteryear — but it has a certain charm. I noticed there is a smoking patio outside the bar area, and the smell of old cig smoke pervades the indoor bar and the front entryway. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant, and the air was much fresher there. The salad bar was right by us and it looked scrumptious. This is a nice mid-level steakhouse and is close by. Casual dining, and overall good service with good food. A nice bang for your buck. I will return! Thanks!

I’ll be generous and say this was 3 stars. It was very loud, crowded at 7−8p Friday night. The décor seems to be in need of a facelift but it was clean. Servers were nice and friendly. The food was not up to par for those prices they charge for steak($ 25 for 8z filet). My brother and I both ordered filet Med rare. And what came was well in the thinner area and a dry med on the thickest. We had the baked potatoes with everything and what blew me away was it used cheese sauce, not real cheese, as a topping. Seemed a bit of a gap between one half the meal and the other. The Ceasars salad had black wilted lettuce that I picked out and set aside and the server didn’t notice. He really didn’t come and ask us how the food was, he kind of tossed it out as he was walking by. So, disappointing overall and wouldn’t go back again.

Rather unfair… a 3 star rating overall. I really think this CnC is better than that. We have been coming here for many decades now(even though infrequently because of distance). Like many other restaurants, this rustic, nostalgic steakhouse has had it’s good times and it’s bad. And the recession really took its toll on this usually reliable dining experience. But times are better now, and CnC still manages to please us., Part of the negative impression is because of the location. Pick up your phone and use your app to get directions, as it is rather unrecognizable as a restaurant to passer-bys. There is a huge parking lot, poorly lighted at night, that may cause some pause. But never you mind. Darkly lit inside as well, and built with dark wood and local river rock, it is a throw back to gentler times and hearty appetites. The salad bar is possibly one of the best in the area. Everything is fresh, with many more offerings than most, and delicious house made salad dressings and seed and homemade croûton toppings. Double yum to their cole slaw and potato salad. Addicting. Note: If you are thinking about ordering the peanut cole slaw as your side dish with your meal, and feel tempted by the salad bar, that cole slaw is one of the choices on the salad bar. So choose something else as your only side. Adding a trip to the salad bar will run less than $ 5 and is worth it. I cannot eat here without filling up on this and loving it. I usually stick with their Teriyaki Kabob dinner. I love their teriyaki sauce which comes in its own dipping cup, not already slathered on. While only one skewer, there is plenty to eat. My only regret is the interspersed, raw onions. Can’t eat them raw, but that is because they surround 5 – 6 big chunks of sirloin(no fat) that have been cooked to a perfectly medium rare with a great fire-grilled flavor. I also choose the pilaf as my one side, which I have learned is consistently perfect and buttery great. It comes with a pile of crispy onion strings too. Around $ 16. The Rib Eye this time had a good, outdoor grill taste, but not the best of cuts as in prior visits. It was priced at nearly $ 30. Kudos for doing a perfectly done medium rare, and great flavor, but it was a smaller steak than some(maybe under 9 oz), it looked hand cut as one end was thicker than the other, and had some gristle. Mr. B’s one side was a big, fat baked potato with all the trimmings. Didn’t see him having any trouble making this disappear. For that price, though, you would think there should have been some veggies on the plate as well. It wouldn’t have broken the bank, but here, an additional side means an extra charge. Their bread basket comes with both squaw bread and white dinner rolls and a cup of real whipped butter. We always enjoy the warmed bread, especially the squaw. Yes, it is pricey, but we are always willing to return for a good, old fashioned steak meal and the friendly atmosphere. We just need to speak up if not up to their usual par.

Celebrated my birthday last night here with my family. Everything was great. Food, cocktails & service were Excellent. I wasn’t expecting much because I saw a few bad reviews before coming, but that was not the case here. I had the blackened salmon scampi style with steamed broccoli. It was perfect. My husband had the porterhouse steak with rice pilaf. Also, great! No complaints from any of the rest of the family either. Our server was great too. Very friendly and attentive. Loved dining there during the Christmas holiday. There was a couple Christmas trees beautifully decorated. Our server offered to take our picture by one of them. Definitely will be returning. Thank you for a memorable Birthday celebration!

This place is located in a really odd location — part residential and commercial. My client’s business is located nearby and suggested Cask N Cleaver for lunch. The building seems like it’s been here for decades and in need of a remodel on the exterior and interior. I was impressed with the service we received once we entered the establishment — seated asap and our waitress took our drink orders. I went with a prime rib sandwich with mixed fruit as my side. The sandwich was served on a french roll was really tasty and included ajus for dipping. I finished my Sammie and started in on the grapes and cantaloupe. The grapes were sweet and satisfying but my cantaloupe was not ripe and inedible. Overall a decent lunch with solid service although I doubt if I would go out of my way to return here again.
