I’ve been here 3 times since they opened, and all i can say is that they need to improve their service. First of all restaurant business is not only for serving food but its more than that. I agree with some of previous review regarding their service and about forgetting their order. I was there with my mom to have a late lunch. When we walked in, the waitress were having lunch and there was no other waitress to help us. So they just told us to sit where ever we want and to wait. So we sat and waited and finally a man came out from the kitchen and asked if we wanted a glass of water. After we got our water than that gentleman gave us the menu. While we looked at the menu, the waitress finished their lunch and came to our table and asked if we were ready. I was not going to say anything about the waitress but since they messed up my order, i have to say something! She was rude and from the look of it, i sense that she does not want to be there and very careless about working there. If i was a restaurant owner, i would not hire her as a waitress, because that would ruined my restaurant. Anyway, my mom finally got her food and i was waiting for mine. I waited for 20 minutes, and did not get my food. I thought that maybe my food is not done being cooked. So we waited and finally my mom finished her food. We still waited a bit for my food, and finally mom asked if they are making my food. And ITWASNOTDONE! I knew it! They forgot my order. I was so upset that i cancelled my order and, pay the bill and left. I wish that this review will help the owner to change their management, service and etc. They need to fix something! Hope to see some changes there because there are not many indonesian restaurant around IE. Their service is very poor. Their food is so-so Ambiance is ok Price is moderate Parking is ok

Kurang enak. Cendol, bami, nasi bungkus did not have much flavor. I was so excited from reading the high praises. Maybe it was an off day. The service was very nice — the people were nice. The restaurant was clean. But the food today was flavorless.

This place is clean. My Boss take me here this is the best Indonesian reataurant in the Inland Empire. I tried the dish wrapped in banana leaf its spicy(Nasi Bungkus Padang) but good. I tried thier fried chicken rice dish also and good portion also. Trying different dish everytime I come here today i will be tasting the Soto Ayam.

Wandered in here thinking it was a coffee shop, but found some pretty great fusion food. Dishes can get quite spicy so be on the look out for that. Dishes are made fresh to order so sometimes they take longer to make your food. I would recommend calling in ahead of time if your are in a rush. Indo food is somewhat of a rarity for me, so I’m glad this place is up and able to provide another type of food we would otherwise not be able to try.

I am beyond thrilled that there is an Indonesian restaurant near by! It is about time. The service needed a little work at first, but they have ironed out the kinks and now I feel like family every time we dine, as we walk in all servers smile and greet us as they now know us. The only problem I have had is when I order by phone. There is a bit of a communication barrier. The Risoles and Kroket are always fresh and almost always sold out. The Sate Babi and Sate Ayam are one of my husbands favorites. The Mie Goreng Jawa is my go to dish and of course the Gado Gado and Cendol are a must. Dine or Dash? Dine and take out.

Best original Indonesian food in Inland Empire! I said this because some indo restaurant are Americanized on the flavor. Portions of the food are perfect. The only negative is the wait on the food which is kinda slow but worth the wait. They do have B grade but original indo food are made on street stands mixed with all the vehicle exhaust anyway.

I am not sure why Unilocaler’s are whining about the service, it is simply typical Indonesian… you just need to be patient. Our food was hot, served at the same time and with a smile. We had meatball soup, pempek telor, mie goreng jawa, nasi bungkus jawa, and nasi ayam goreng kremes… all quite tasty. Since I know good Indonesian flavor and I was with my wife and her mother who are Indonesian, I can tell you the flavor is there.

Food was great(huge plates of meats, noodles, strange new fluffy dough, and tofu!) and the drinks were fantastic as well(especially the Avocado drink). Beyond just the food, the hostess there was incredible. She was by far one of the most loving and caring individuals that have ever served and catered to me and my family(and(and we have visited many many restaurants over the years). She genuinely cared, and so did the other restaurant employees, and for that, they get 5 Stars.

To start this review is based more on the customer service of the restaurant. Food is pretty ok so that wasn’t really the problem resulting in the review rating but it wasn’t memorable. It started with placing a to go order. I had to keep repeating myself and reminding the guy at the counter what I wanted. Turns out he forgot one thing on the order anyhow. I had to replace another order for what he forgot. He also could not remember if we had paid for the first order or not! The to go order itself took over 45 minutes. The wait is entirely too long and what looks like the main cook or the owner of the restaurant would come out of the kitchen and look stressed and speak in a loud frustrated voice. There were tables left uncleared and people waiting a long time for their food and to place orders. Sometimes the owner would come out and ask what we ordered. The guy at the register couldn’t keep track of orders and who got what. It was really chaotic. I placed a drink order to go as well and I was told that the kitchen stopped making drinks so they can focus on food! So I asked for the money to be refunded since I had waited for 45 minutes and my food was nearly done. That was when the main guy came out and said he will hurriedly make it. I don’t even know if he cleaned out the blender from the last drink before he made mine. A woman who ordered a drink waited so long she had already finished her food and decided to cancel it and left. When we did finally get our food the peanut sauce and soup were cold and obviously straight out of the fridge. And super minor but I asked for napkins too and they weren’t included. We really didn’t think our order would take close to an hour and we were on our way to catch a flight so we didn’t really have an hour to spare waiting for food. It looks like they are understaffed and need a better system. I feel bad for small business owners and I understanding they are trying to get the flow going but oh my god they need to do something quick! I hope we can return and have a better experience to review. I would give the food a 3 star and the customer service a 0. I personally hate giving bad reviews. I hope it was just a bad night tonight.

I’ve tried about 9 – 10 dishes now and I’m a fan of this place. Their food is pretty solid and most of their dishes are just amazingly flavorful and authentic. First off. their fried rice is amazing. I’ve tried 3 different fried rices and they are all extremely flavorful and have great texture. The fried rice is made from a very long grain rice and is on drier side, but the dryness gives it a wonderful nutty texture. It is distinctly different from Chinese and Japanese friend rices as their fried rices use fish and shrimp sauce/paste as major flavoring ingredient. My favorite is the Anchovy Fried Rice with Sator. Sator is some type of bean about the size of edamame with a slightly bitter finish that gives the savory fried rice a really good flavor contrast. Their noodles are great too. Their bowl noodles are wheat based and are thick and chewy. Mie Singapore with ground pork and veggies and sauce on the bottom is my favorite. I’ve also tried other not so commonly found Indonesian dishes such as the East Java salad. Peanut and fish paste, beef tendon, jicama, mango, and cabbage. It’s weird tasting to me, but I appreciate being able to try this very Indonesian dish. The Indonesian Fried Chicken rice comes with an interesting soup. The soup is red with green beans, turnips, and maybe some tomatoes. What is interesting about it is that it has a slightly savory, sour, fermented flavor. At first I didn’t like, but when I ate it with the vegetables that were at the bottom, the flavor was quite complex. However, I can really see how many ppl wouldn’t like the slightly sour fermented flavor. It was interesting… a taste that I had never encountered before. The Grilled Chicken with Rice is pretty good too. it’s served on a hot stone plate and with a very flavorful hot sauce. The hot sauce is very spicy but it has amazing flavor and depth. There’s a myriad of ingredients that went into the sauce with bits of savory vegetables. All in all, I’ve really really enjoyed this place. I’ve eaten at other Indonesian places before, but the flavors and textures at Java Bistro really make it a standout against other Indonesian places. My next dishes to try are the fried fish cake and sweet and salty yanmin noodle.

I am pretty picky when it comes to Indonesian food because I am Indonesian and that is what I grew up eating. So when I found out about this place I had to try it out. Indonesian food is definitely one of Asia’s best kept secret and I am glad it is getting its recognition on mainstream social media(Buzzfeed). This restaurant is located in Rancho about 5 mins away from the Ontario Mills shopping center. Once you enter the restaurant, you will notice that they have a little section where they sell snacks and other Indonesian products. We barely beat the lunch rush but we were automatically seated and given menus. WARNING: If the menu says its spicy, its definitely spicy. Indonesians pride on their food being spicy so if you think you can handle the heat, then be my guest! Although there are many highlights on the menu(satay, fried rice) I decided on ordering the Mie Singapore. This is a noodle dish with spicy ground chicken and baby bok choy. It also comes with a soup on the side. The flavor of the dish as a whole compliment each other. Instead of pouring all the soup into the noodles, its better to put as necessary. The Indonesian food at this restaurant is as legit as they come outside of the mainland itself. Again, I am a little bias because when I order this food in the mainland, it would cost about 10−30k rupiah(1 – 3US dollars) so this restaurant is definitely a little pricey for my standards but it isn’t too overwhelming on your wallet. As for the service, this place can get pretty busy and I notice they tend to help customers that are regulars and/or Indonesian a lot quicker. This is an asian owned establishment and thats something that will always be a problem with the service. I suggest coming with friends when you have time. The food can come out pretty quick if you beat the rush. I will definitely be coming back to order more items from their menu. TL;DR — Great tasting authentic Indonesian food with American pricing.

This place is very good, the best Indonesian food I’ve had(I’ve only been to a few Indonesian restaurants). We went with our Indonesian friend, and tried about 5 different dishes, and they were all good. Our friend thought that the food tasted just like the food she grew up eating in Indonesia. We went on a busy Saturday evening, and the food was served relatively quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. I guess this restaurant has finally fixed all the shortcomings that were mentioned by the early reviewers.

After hearing other reviews, we decided to order in advance since we were an hour away from the restaurant. By the time we arrived, our food were ready. The restaurant was a small size with modern interior. We ordered bakso gili, nasi goreng ikan asin pete and batagor. Generous portion with reasonable price. All tasted good and authentic. At 5 pm they already closed because ran out of ingredients. So better come early on weekends.

Went to the grand opening today. REALLY slow service, but you can’t knock em down too much for that since it’s their first day. There were actually quite a lot of people considering there was no signage out front(I wouldn’t be surprised if it was friends/family that came). The space itself isn’t terribly large, but they have quite a few tables for diners. We ended up waiting a good 40 min from lining up to getting our food. I ordered the beef noodle soup(beats me what it’s called in Indonesian). It was actually really really good imo. I’m no expert on Indonesian food, but it had a nice flavor … albeit on the salty side. Inside the soup, there were chunks of beef, noodles, daikon radish, and some seasoning like lemongrass and ginger. I scarfed that dish down really quickly. They have a lunch special menu with maybe 7 – 8 options. There’s a more extensive menu that I’m not sure if you can order from during lunch… but will find out! Given that the restaurant is across from where I work, I’m pretty sure I’ll be frequenting it often. The lines died down after 1pm(after the usual lunch crowd).
