I have to agree prices are good when compared to 99 ranch but it’s a great stop for Korean staple items. They had a great deal on the pickled radishes, and while I only took home a couple, several other shoppers took advantage of the deal and filled their carts to the brim. No limits here! The ready made foods, like their japchae, are on the pricey side so consider making your own. You are of course, in the right place to do that. Looking to save time and craving marinated korean meats? Their refridgerated section(toward the back right corner of the store), has them ready for the taking and grilling.

Market World is a godsend for me as I am a primarily Korean food eater and I hope i hope i hope i hope it doesn’t close down… BUT this place is terrible. I say this in hopes though, that the owner reads Unilocal(SUCH a smart move for any restaurant/food proprietor!) and learns from this very caring input! The produce is old — ridiculously old. The quality of produce — if you can access it at even Stater Bros. do it. It is over-priced and just total crap. I know harsh, but seriously, it’s really unacceptable. Everything else is okay. Selection is okay but the thing is, could be economy, could be not enough Asian-food lovers are frequenting this place, but everything seems just a tad too old and stale. I know this is a difficult thing for a large grocery business to deal with but for crying out loud, the MAIN factor that draws customers to a grocery store is the quality of the produce. You just don’t skimp on that. The banchan are terrible. I keep trying and trying and trying a new one here and there but they’re always seasoned just a little off. The only thing these little dishes do is always inspire me to make it myself at home and trust me, I am no Korean culinary genius but even I can make better banchan. The best banchan I’ve gotten was when I finally tried those vacuum-sealed ones next to the terrible little plastic containers of tastebud doom. And the dduk and gimbap? Completely tasteless. Once bought TWO whole packs of gimbap for a road trip up north and we ate four pieces — one from each pack between husband and myself — threw the rest away. One was too salty(aside from having no flavor whatsoever) and the other was not salty enough(aside from having no flavor whatsoever). The only dduk worth buying are the rice cakes — and that’s probably because those have like one ingredient: rice. I’ve been going to Hannam regularly for years but a few months ago when I was in my third trimester pregnancy an incident also occurred that has reduced my visits down to about one visit every month or so. My mother and I were there; we were just walking in and had picked up two bags of some sort of chip or another. But then Mom realized we’d need a cart, so she almost walks back out of the sliding doors with the bags of chips but catches herself and hands them to me — it’s at this point we realize there’s this elder Korean man — obviously a proprietor of the store — standing like ONEFOOT away MADDOGGING us!!! Oh. Em. Gee. That was so shockingly unacceptable. First, I was a FULL-TERM pregnant woman. What was I going to do, sprint out the door and run down the street and down the nearest alleyway? Second, I was with my MOTHER — tiny older Korean woman. I surmise perhaps there had been a rash of store-thefts but also, two bags of chips? Really? REALLY??? And as any Korean should know — disrespect to my mother is what pisses me off the most. Do you WANT to drive away two people who would obviously be primary income potentials? Well too bad, there wasn’t much attracting me in the first place but I haven’t even gotten to mention the generally consistent unfriendly service I get. One would think that because I’m Korean I’d get a little more enthusiasm for my patronage, but I’m treated like they don’t give a crap whether I live or die. Another pet peeve is when any cashier anywhere TOSSES my produce across the checkout counter. My Korean parents always taught me that that is RUDE and DISRESPECTUL and these people do it almost every time. It even bugs me when non-Koreans do this but Koreans??? So yes, I go here out of sheer necessity but yes, I agree, this place is currently for EMERGENCYONLY. But. I hope i hope i hope the people at Hannam will read this and learn. You will lose your business in this delicate economy if you don’t even provide the basic services expected in a flourishing economy. I’m sorry I cannot write this in Korean but I hope there is someone in this business who can read and fully comprehend my well-meaning intentions with this critique!

The best place to buy asian ingredients and products. Don’t buy curry at Albertson’s, it is $ 2 cheaper here! They have Korean, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, etc. products here at low prices. Most employees are bilingual and some are even trilingual. The management speaks Korean and a little bit of English so a small language barrier is present, but she will go to LONG lengths to help you out and knows the layout of the store well. Some of the employees speak English, Korean, AND Spanish all fluently. A lot of the products are imported and don’t have English translations on the product, but the manager will translate for you. If you are looking for Sushi ingredients, buy them here! Along with ingredients for mitarashi dango and other recipes. The floors are clean and the place looks great, but the lighting on the left side of the store is dim and gives off a horrible gloomy feeling. They also offer sushi already made and have a bakery on the right side of the store. The restaurant recently closed down, but everything else is great. If you are preparing recipes or want to buy cute Japanese products for an Animé Convention, come here.

My mom was absolutely hellbent on coming here, during my visit back to the IE. She had heard from her friend about how awesome this market was. So after our shopping spree at Victoria Gardens, we made our way over to Market World. We were very surprised about how empty the lot was. There weren’t a lot of cars, could be because it was a weekday. She was also excited in the car because she said there were little shops inside. Well most of those shops are empty and have become storage space for rice. The for lease signs looked really sad. The store has a different yet somber vibe. The staff all look down and not happy at all. I will say that their abundance of frozen fish cakes is mind boggling! So many styles, brands and flavors. Their meat and seafood department was alright, but you could definitely see the products starting to lose their freshness. Their produce department is very sad and sparse. Mom was looking forward to getting some vegetables, but a lot of them were starting to go bad and rotting. Not good. We ended up buying some seasoned seaweed, and frozen Seafood noodle soup(jampong). Our cashier was pretty rude and curt. English was not an issue, he was just rude. Sad that this store couldn’t be more. I guess the only good thing is that if you need some asian goods and live in the area, it’s very convenient, and another star for our purchases. They were decent! Also got a decent selection of Soju.

The only reason why this place gets anything close to decent ratings is because it’s here in the IE where there are no other asian markets. If you’ve ever been to any other asian market in your life you can tell that this one is sub-par. I went there to get some marinated KBB to cook at home and was extremely disappointed at their selection. Make a trip to DB if you really want to get something good and don’t want to go too far.

I’m totally amazed when I see anyone giving this market 4 or 5 stars. I will ONLY go here when it is an absolute EMERGENCY(Oh Crap! I’m out of Curry Sauce!!!) and I must have the item within 30 minutes. If not, I’ll wait and go to the Marukai in West Covina and save yourself from having to experience this: Just today I was in the produce department. DIS-GUS-TING!!! I wanted to buy a potato. ONE potato. I picked one at the top of the pile up and turned it over. UGGG. MOLD. MOOOOLLLDDD!!! That was it for me. Packaged food only. Yeccccch!

PROS: this place is very clean, well-organized, well-stocked, and best of all– not crowded at all. we went on a saturday afternoon(usually the korean markets in OC are totally packed, especially on weekends), but there was barely anyone there. CONS: the bakery was disappointing, very small and no fresh cakes available(at least not on display). the food court was closed, which was strange to me, but upon reading other Unilocalers’ reviews, i guess that’s normal for them to close on weekends? also, there’s no cute little stationary/accessory small stores within the grocery store.

Probably the coolest place to hit my neighborhood since the invention of the hard boiled egg slicer. Fresh produce and an excellent meat and seafood department. On the side of the supermarket there are a few small eateries/mini-restaurants. I love the soju selection here, nothing can beat $ 1.99 soju bottles as well as soju that’s in 1L aquafina-like bottle(this is how you know Koreans drink a lot). We just bought a sh*t ton of meat for NYE because we’re korean bbq-ing it up tonight!

Living out here in the 909 I kinda find it hard to get certain spices or Korean food… so I am quite happy that there is one out here. :) Hannam has all the essential foods/spices to make the best Korean meal. They have a fresh meat and seafood area. There are already pre cut shabu shabu meat for a great price… as well as cut sashimi combo plate. In the ‘deli’ area there is a large section for pre-made food and all the different types of kimchee(a lil korean girl’s dream! :p) I especially liked the fresh bakery shoppe they have on the right side of the market. I love their red bean cakes… So YUMMY~!

I love that there is a Korean market in this area. Its not too far from home and is easy to find. They have a great selection of all Asian foods and ingredients and even a bakery with fresh goods everyday. Their ready made dishes are super cheap and beats going down the street for a fatty burger and fries. The store is super clean and the staff are really nice. Ever since I found this place, I have the whole family hooked too!

Tiff digs Korean Food. Korean people. not so much. Just Kidding. I love that there is an Asian Market in the immediate 909 vs having to travel to 626 or 949. The market is smaller than HK or even Zion, however they meet the demands of the clients they serve. Yes, I’ll try the sample, I’ll try them now. I love the fact I can get fish. snacks. metal chopsticks. possibly a small child to make me jeans. sweets and they have small bakery inside. The cookies are fun to nibble on(Not 85/Diamond/Phoenix Bakery, but works for location) The somber tudes of majority of the employees leaves one feeling like they had just solicited an amputee midget wearing a crusty eyepatch for midnight rodeo role playing. but overall I’ll be back. Woot!

Good: 1. Clean 2. Abundance of 5ft tall Older Korean ladies to point you to the right direction. 3. Ample Parking 4. Great selection. 5. Food court that is clean, trust me this is an amazing feat for a korean market, what clean is to Japanese, leave it there until closing time is to Koreans. Cons: 1. It’s like Alaska inside, it seems these Korean ladies want to wear their fur despite the rancho weather. Bring a jacket. 2. Already made Kimchi Jigae. Good idea, bad product. I dont know what is going on with the chef but he/she really loves sardines. I mean it’s gonna be sardine soup with bit of kimchi in it. I am not sure about this but I am pretty sure the chef is a Dolphin. Overall, go there, it doesn’t get any better in the IE when looking for Korean food.

I like this place. It’s nice to know that if I ever need Asian products, I can shop locally instead of having to drive out to Rowland Heights or West Covina. Granted, the language barrier plays a role in preventing me from being able to enjoy this place as much as I could, there are still a number of products you can shop for, just based on their physical properties. Heck, I can shop for kimchi with the best of them. The place is clean and it’s easy to get a grasp of the general layout of the store.

I have been working at a Korean test prep center for over a year now and have been exposed to more aspects of Korean culture than I ever could have imagined. But despite all that, I’d never been a Korean market until today when I visited Market World with my father. Stepping through the doors you’ll immediately notice how cold it is! I guess this keeps the items fresh longer, but still, it was in stark contrast to the outside world. As far as their selection, it’s like a full-size grocer, so you’re bound to have a large selection of Korean and Western goods. There seemed to be everything here that I’ve tried at work after all these months. We even picked up some bottles of Soju, a Korean rice vodka, for very reasonable prices: $ 1.99 each! As far as produce, the selection is a bit limited, but the prices are reasonable and holy cow are their fruits massive! Each apple was almost the size of a football! Their selection of premade foods was really good, and the store even has mini«boutiques» where you can buy all sorts of items. Stepping inside is like a short trip to Seoul, not that I’ve ever been. Even if you’re not into Korean food or have never tried any, it’s still worth a trip just for the experience.

clean, organized, easy to get to(right off the 210), korean food! large selection of frozen items, kimchi, meats and seafood, produce, pre-packaged food, and all the sauces and dried korean goods you can imagine(the largest selection of vinegars i’ve ever seen — who knew they made pomegranate and persimmon vinegar?)! only thing missing are pre-marinated meats. VIP card(2% back) is free. i agree — prices are slightly more expensive than other asian markets but still reasonably priced produce and an extra star for offering items that we’d otherwise have to drive a lot further for.

This place is great. My friends live just a couple of miles away from here. We’ve been here a couple of times already. The prices are good. Nice selections of produce and meat. They usually have a sell on soju and other alcohol. Last time we were there, they had a sell on Johnny Walker Blue Label. It was only $ 108.99. My friend couldn’t resist so he bought a bottle. It’s a nice asian store to go to. Mostly korean items. So it’s the spot to grab some soju and korean bbq meat for an afternoon of grilling.

I love Market World, the prices are really good– not like 99 Ranch good– but comparable, and the selection is okay. I love that they have these huge pieces of garlic already skinned in these huge bags for CHEAP! The fish/seafood is totally like an asian market– the thought ran across my head about cleanliness/contamination, but then I remembered… asian markets are JUSTLIKETHAT! I marvel at the live blue crabs, the variety of fish available– rock cod for $ 2.99/lb today! I was going to buy one, but they were whole. I like pieces or filets… Anyways, daughter had to visit the bathroom(with a roll of my eyes– AGAIN???) so I took her and was pleasantly surprised that it was CLEAN! And plentiful stalls– we’re talking like 10 clean stalls in an asian market… what can get better than that… I have been trying to find Thai Basil here forever though, and though they have signs, it seems I just hit it on the wrong day. But I love their little bakery area, the lady there is really really nice! Great addition to Rancho!

I recently moved to Rancho Cucamonga from San Diego for grad school. In San Diego, I had a lot of variety with Japanese, Korean, Filipino, and Indian grocery stores. There is a large diversity of ethnic cuisines to eat around Rancho Cucamonga, but I had yet to find an Asian grocery store. Everytime I googled for one, it would refer me to LA. I happened to find Market World through Unilocal and decided to check it out. I was impressed when I walked in. It was clean and organized. When I arrived, the food court area was closed already and I didn’t get to see what was at the bakery. But I did enjoy the fresh produce. I generally prefer buying my produce at asian markets because they usually are cheaper and they have produce not regularly found at other grocery stores(i.e. thai chili, lemon grass stalks, thai basil, etc.). They even sell tupperware, cooking supplies, and asian hair/face products. Outside of Korean items, I was also able to find Filipino and Indonesian spices/sauces/food. I didn’t buy any meat/fish, so I have yet to rate that portion of the store. The people working there were friendly and helpful. There was no wait when checking out and the registers have monitors/televisions(i didn’t really pay attn to what was showing though) When I got home, I decided to eat all the Korean side dish items I bought for dinner and it was very fresh and very tasty! One thing I did not like was that the strawberries I bought for $ 6.99 were mostly bruised and some had mold in the bottom of the containers(I did not realize that at the store because it was boxed and plastic wrapped). I know that I will be shopping there on a regular basis while I am up here!
