Great dinner with friends at the Tavern. Waitress was very attentive and the food was great. Much appreciated was the willingness to switch salmon for vegetarian burger in a quinoa salad.

We were seated out on the deck immediately. I guess we got there a little earlier than the normal dinner crowd, and after the after work crowd was finishing up. Service started off a little slow as there seemed to be some confusion about who was supposed to be our server. However, once that was straightened out, the service was good, the waitress was attentive, and fairly quick. I had the«po-boy» sandwich. I must say that I’ve had better tasting, but the sub roll was packed. My girlfriend had the Tuesday Night special of three soft shell tacos. There was plenty of meat choices(6 or 8) with a nice range of spiciness. My girlfriend says they were good. There was a very nice, laid back atmosphere with plenty of space between tables.

Who knew there was a cute place like this in Reading? I surely didn’t! Haha, I’m glad I came across this hidden gem! The location is really perfect for the Spring/Summer months. It really makes you feel as though you’ve escaped the Hell hole that is Berks County and you’re in a mini tropical paradise. My friend and I sat outside and really got to take advantage of the gorgeous weather we had last Sunday. There was a nice breeze too. They had a rather impressive drink menu; we had attended a wedding that was open bar the night before so we just ordered a $ 2 coors light that came with a lime wedge. It was nice and cold, so refreshing! Once again, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of food on the menu. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with boardwalk fries(extra $ 2) The crab cake itself was tasty; the bun was good as well but it was just too much bread for me so I ended up taking the bun off. I would definitely come back again. such a cute place!

Love the atmosphere and food was good but service was disappointing. We came as a large group to enjoy the warm weather and show people who are not familiar with the area a local favorite. At the end of the meal the waitress asked how we wanted to pay for the meal. We asked if it was an issue to do separate checks and she said no. It took almost an hour and we still didn’t have checks despite seeing the poor waitress run around to multiple tables. At that time the manager was contacted, Bart H, who provided poor customer service. Instead of apologizing or assisting the server he became defensive and combative. It truly was a disappointing end to a gorgeous night.

Very disappointing meal-we were here one week ago and had delicious brisket so we came back for the same. Bad decision! Brisket was served in large«chunks» and several pieces were 100% fat. Very unappetizing, not edible! Our waitress was left to deal with our complaints when the manager should have taken that responsibility. Very poor experience!

Beverly Hills Tavern has existed in Berks County as long as I can remember and is one of the county’s hottest nightspot. But with that said, I never went there until a recent class reunion was held there. Our reunion was in a private room in the main building. There was our own bar there and they had appetizers set up for grazing. As a beer drinker, I was a little disappointed that the craft beer scene hadn’t made its way to BHT yet so I was stuck drinking Yuengling which is ok and a step up from Bud/Coors/Miller. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. After the reunion, many of us went outside to the beach themed bar in the back which is huge! There’s seating around the bar and several bartenders working. At least back here they had some craft beer with Victory on tap. Outside is a great place to enjoy catching up with old friends and new ones. I think some of us closed down the place. Been a long time since I did that at any bar.

What an expensive dissappointment. I was hoping when Jimmy G took over the restaurant that the quality of the food and service would improve, but it has not. I was excited to see that they had a Bloody Mary menu. I ordered my first drink — the waitress brought it out in what looked like a plastic soda cup. It was missing all of the garnishes described on the menu. I took a sip and quickly realized that no alcohol had been added. Five minutes later another bloody mary came out, which looked more like what I had ordered. Barely tasted any alcohol. Ordered a second, and again what came out was not what I had ordered. Was missing all garnishes again, and again tasted very little vodka. Tried a third time(I’m a glutton for punishment). I ordered the«Dillicious Blood Mary». The drink is centered around a dill pickle theme. Came out, again no garnishes and my waitress informed me that they ran out of pickles. How does a restaurant run out of pickles??? At $ 7 a pop, I was expecting at least what I had ordered. Each time I let the waitress know that the drink was not what I had ordered, but I guess the message didn’t get to the bartender. Ordered food next. I ordered the crab fries. The fries were covered in canned orange cheese sauce and lump crab meat. I could have made this at home and for much less than $ 9. We also ordered the crab dip, which basically tasted like cream cheese with some crab in it. I will not be going there again any time soon. It’s a shame because they have a really nice outdoor area.

First time we went under new management. Never really liked the food before so we were excited to try it again now that the menu was«new». I ordered the fish tacos and my wife ordered the nachos as a meal. She asked for extra beans instead of chicken or beef. Kids each got chicken fingers and grilled cheese. My tacos were bleh. They were fried«cod» strips obviously had been frozen topped with coleslaw that was not really that good. And a special soy sauce that was ok but not that impressive. I’ve had waaay better fish tacos at chain restaurants. My wife’s nachos were also really bleh. The cheese was that imitation nacho cheese not melted real cheese. Some people may like that though. The«extra» beans were non existent. She didn’t finish half. The kids meals were good but its hard to mess up chx fingers and grilled cheese. Actually the grilled cheese was awesome. Service was good but really slow. It’s always been really slow there. And the only beer I really wanted was victory summer love and they were out. The only reason we go to this place is for the sand play area for the kids and the atmosphere. It’d be nice to hear some live music but I’ve been told they aren’t aloud due to noise restrictions? Weird.

Not sure what to do… This place is doomed. Used to love this place back 15 years ago. Unfortunately, Jimmy G hasn’t been able to turn around the service or the food. My server was Lorin… & my plate was ½ full when it came out from the kitchen. It was the poorest looking chicken sandwich ever. It looked like a kids meal on an adult plate, I should’ve taken a picture. I waited multiple times for refills… I was never brought utensils however we were able to make due. That being said, I was still hungry so I ordered scallops and they came without anyone checking my utensil situation. I then waited an additional 4 minutes until someone checked on me. To finalize the experience there was no credits offered on anything even though I expressed dissatisfaction. When the bill finally came we had to search out someone to pay. Oh, &BTW… It wasn’t busy. Sorry Jimmy G, it’ll be a good while before I come back. At least you’re serving beer in stylish plastic cups instead of throw always. Prices are high for this level of quality and ineptness. I wish you luck… You’ll need it.

First time here since new ownership. Beer was Luke warm. We decided to split a club sandwich rather than do appetizers… and told the server this. They brought out a sandwich with a chicken breast in it on one plate. No big deal, I asked for another plate and a knife, a few minutes later we get a plate and a dull butter knife. After waiting to get our drinks filled again we decided to add the scallops. They were promptly delivered with no silverware. We waited for quite some time before someone surfaced to flag down and ate them luke warm. Now we were really ready for the check… by the way it’s about a ten minute wait to ask for the check and another ten to have them pick it up. Not impressed… I will take the drive to other«outdoor» venues before I come back here.

I went last night for the 2nd time since the restaurant got new owners. I was never a fan of Beverly Hills in the past– food never really tasted great, lack of craft beer choices… well, unfortunately, it’s still the same. I ordered the nachos with extra salsa, and the waitress returned to tell me that they ran out of salsa. So, I ordered the boneless wings. They were terrible. 7.00 for dry, crappy boneless wings. I asked for extra barbecue sauce, but the sauce even tasted bad. My boyfriend ordered the special– lasagna. He did enjoy that, and it was a large portion. However, it was clear that the lasagna was just reheated, as the sides were all hard. When we asked our waitress about drink specials, she told us there were none, but explained when happy hour was(we missed happy hour). However, there was a huge sign posted that we didn’t see until paying the bill that noted a Yuengling special on Fridays. Not that I really wanted to drink Yuengling, but it would have been nice to have been told about the special. Get some good craft beer on tap and get a better menu. Maybe I’ll return.

NEWOWNERS, it’s now called Jimmy J’s Beverly Hills Tavern. Hadn’t been here in a while, went last night and man was I impressed. They really stepped it up with the quality of food, very fresh ingredients. Had the crab fries as an appetizer, yum! And crab cakes for dinner, double yum! Even tried the edible orchid that garnished the plate, tasted like lettuce. Place seems a lot cleaner now too. Everyone was very friendly and professional. You should go for dinner, tonight!

My hubby & I went here on our first date. We really only go here in the Summer. They have an awesome outdoor area with a bar, tables, and lots of sand. The kids have fun pretending that they’re at the beach. The food is OK. It’s a little pricey for bar food. The service is also a little slow. I’d like to see them add more selections to the menu.

This place absolutely exceeded our expectations! We had an event here for 40 people that we had to plan and execute in 5 days and everyone, from the owner to the waitresses were so helpful and helped us pull it off beautifully. They worked with our budget, our decorations and all of our needs. It couldn’t have been better! Shout out to our waitresses, Emily and Andrea, who went above and beyond to help make our event a success. We will, without a doubt, plan future events to be held here again!

Went here in May as I was visiting from NYC. I loved this place. Very spacious and has a great outdoor area/bar. Lots of tables and for a busy Saturday night in the summertime, the wait was short. Food was good quality. Had some shrimp for starters, followed by the Turkey club with crab fries. So good those fries were! They have fast service and good prices. And there is a sand patch in the back for the kids to play. There were quite a few of them that night having a lot of fun!

Went here because it was the only restaurant open on a holiday. They have a huge parking lot, and the place is a bit deceiving from the outside — mostly due to the great amount of vinyl beer signs plastered on their 7′ wooden fence. As we walked through the opening in the fence, we, like the majority of other patrons, discarded our shoes. It seemed like the thing to do because the entire outside dining area/bar was covered in sand. The bar was cabana style with tables strewn about the«beach» area. I say beach because there was a huge man-made lake toward the back of the outdoor area. What’s more, is upon this lake, was a «boat.» It looked more like a floating plywood platform with a shed on top. First, I thought it odd to see this sort of thing in Sinking Springs. So, naturally, I inquired to the waitress about the boat. She said that they rent it out for business lunches, birthday parties, and other special events. It only costs $ 100 to do so. If it was much more than that, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would ever do so. That aside, onto the menu. Fittingly, it was Caribbean/Island style fare with things such as Coconut Shrimp, Mango Salad, Seared Ahi Tuna, and Ceviche. There was also a selections of American fare, including panninis, chicken sandwiches, and, of course, burgers. I chose the Caribbean Spiced Burger. My friend elected for the Jerk Chicken Pannini. As we waited for our meals, I enjoyed a Mango Mojito and my friend sipped on some unsweetened iced tea. Perhaps it was the beach environment, but this was the second best Mango Mojito I have ever had(second to the Shady Grove in Pittsburgh). Also, I ventured inside to use the restroom and couldn’t help but marvel at the sight before me. Although the interior was small, it was dominated by a breathtaking«fish» tank. Behind the bar, on the back wall, was the largest tank I have ever seen outside of an aquarium. In the tank was a huge shark! I asked several staff members about the size of the tank and the species of the shark. While no one could tell me the size of the tank(it had to be at least 1,000 gallons), they all confirmed that it was a Bull Shark. The shark’s name was displayed on a large wooden sign with text fashioned with a wood burner and read«Munchie.» Incidentally, the tank was clean and the shark seemed to be in good health for being in captivity. The bathrooms were, again, island themed, and clean. The men’s room had a stainless steel trough. As I returned to my table, the food had already arrived. My burger was cooked properly and was served on a Hawaiian-style roll. The Caribbean spices were perfect — just the right amount of heat, sweetness, and salt. They didn’t overdo it. I had a bite of my friend’s Jerk Chicken Paninni. It was well prepared, but the actual slices of coconut on it were a bit overpowering. The service was spectacular, although they all looked like Parrotheads at a Jimmy Buffett concert. This is an awesome place to go if you are looking for an island-inspired cocktail and a quick bite on a sunny summer day. If you do go, make sure to venture inside and check out Munchie!

One of the best cabana/outdoor bars in Berks county. Great place to people watch and enjoy the weather. Beyond that the food is average at best and for being owned by Al Hulsizer owner of California Bar and Grill, the place runs like a mom and pop guess as we go shop. This place has always had a lot of potential since it was first renovated but never had an owner with enough imagination to make it a winner.
