Finally! I was impressed by a restaurant! Food and service were impeccable. I can’t wait to return for another amazing meal.

This is the best fine dining restaurant in New Jersey, full stop. The décor is elegant, with these amazing glass sculptures on the ceilings. The tables are spacious, providing a quiet and romantic atmosphere. The service is absolutely stellar and top notch. Every utensil is inspected before being placed in front of you. Each dish is explained. They will customize and meet your desires and needs. The food is of course the main appeal. I’ve been here probably a dozen times over the past few years, and sampled many different dishes. All are good, and usually one or two in each tasting menu are ‘best i ever had’ kind of experience. Though there are no Michelin stars given in New Jersey this is easily a one-star caliber place and it rivals many of the one-stars I’ve been to. The wines are excellent and if you come here be sure to do the pairings. They have a house champagne which is hand picked by Chef Nicholas which is one of our favorites. Though this meal is expensive if you compare it to your local pizza place — for a Michelin caliber experience its actually pretty cheap.

Dining at Nicholas is always a wonderful experience. There’s something to be said about the service here. Between the incredible service and the phenomenal food, you leaving feeling very special and full! Many people express feeling hungry when they leave, but I’ve always been very full and trust me, I love to eat! You can’t go wrong with what you choose to order. They change the menu seasonally and there are lots of options for all tastes. If you’re considering dining here, do It! You won’t be sorry.

Everything about Nicholas is outstanding; the food, the cocktails, the service, the ambiance. Each time my husband and I go we feel as if we are away on vacation — we never feel like we are just 5 minutes away from our house. The staff makes everything so special. Our favorite server is Nahum. I have specific dietary needs and they have NO issues with accommodating them which is very much appreciated. We love that you can go there to enjoy a fancy meal in the dining room or watch a game at the bar for a more casual night. We look forward to celebrating special occasions at Nicholas and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Restaurant is near to where we live. Knew of their reputation, but as it was Pat’s 60th, wanted something special. It was that and more. BTW… everyone knew it was her birthday; the valet, the coat check, the person seating us, the service staff… Started with valet… pulled infront of the place and the valet appeared as if by magic. Inside, took coats and was immediately seated. Even before ordering, they start you with an amuse-bouche of squash and chocolate soup… very good. We both did the 7 course tasting menu; mine accompanied with a different wine for each course, Pat’s not. They do this by having meal stages where you have a choice between two different dishes at each stage. Throughout the meal, a person came around around offering a choice of three great breads, another one with 3 choices of water, etc. When you are seated, you are assigned your own matri’d…he does no serving(except for pouring(and explaining) wine… he’s just there to make sure your expereince goes well… he’s got a serving staff for the different courses. BTW… if you can, ask for Nahum… a really friendly Australian chap who’s been doing this for about 7 years and really knows his shit. Anyway…meal went for about 2 hours and since each table has only one seating per night, there is no rush to get you out and the next seating in. The place isn’t cheap… My seven course(including 2 different desserts) with different wine at each course, Pat’s seven course with 4 fillings of a cab…$ 291

My fiancé took me to this restaurant on my 30th birthday. Really good wait staff and my favorite is the Nova Scotian lobster.

Get there early so when you finish you can go somewhere else because you will still be hungry! Just look at the posted pictures and judge for yourself. P.T. Barnum said it best, «there’s a sucker born every minute.» A great example of the Veblen effect.

This is the place to be for a special occasion. The food is phenomenal and the service is almost perfect. You can select from a tasting menu or the pre fix. We got the pre fix with the gnocchi and filet, and the tuna tar tar and the organic chicken. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked and mixed in with the sauce right before we were served. They were to die for. Even though it’s a smaller portion, it was perfect. The filet was cooked to my request and the sauces were so good! They blended well together with the mushrooms and potato pancakes. It was a good amount of food despite other reviews. Dessert was the rook rice pudding which wasn’t impressive or good. By this point we were so full it almost didn’t matter. The service started out strong and decreased as they got busy. It took very long to get the bill as they slowly lost interest in our table. Before that everything was going at a normal pace and it was spaced out well.

Small servings. Rushed dinner. 3 courses in 25 minutes. Expensive! New Years Eve disaster. Never go back

Best restaurant in New Jersey. Hands down. Venison was incredibly crispy and juicy. Service was impeccable and ambience was New York City Esque. I will definitely go back again this deserves all the praise I can possibly provide

Delicious food, excellent service. Last night I took my fiancé to Nicholas for our anniversary and we were very happy we had dinner there. First and foremost, I ordered an Old Fashioned cocktail and if you like a stiff drink then I recommend you getting one(or two). For appetizers, I ordered the Ricotta gnocchi with braised lamb and she had the roasted pumpkin risotto. The gnocchi was very delicious but the risotto was AMAZING! For entrees, I had the Venison and she had the roasted chicken. The venison is cooked medium rare and melted in your mouth and seasoned to perfection. For dessert, we shared a cookie and cream ganache and a rice pudding with hazelnut ice cream with toffee crumbs. Both complimented each other very well and capped off our wonderful evening. The bill was expensive but well worth the price for a special occasion. Bravo Chef Nicholas.

I wish I could give negative stars. Where shall I begin? TODAY is my birthday(October 1st) My boyfriend made a reservation here over 2 weeks ago. On SUNDAY, September 27th(5DAYSNOTICE) he had called to cancel the reservation because my cousin was in a horrible jet skiing accident and broke every bone in his face. Let me get graphic for you: His nasal cavity was completely detached from his skull, both eye sockets were shattered, jaw hanging, lost the majority of his teeth. When my boyfriend called to cancel the reservation they had told him the deposit of $ 150 was non refundable. He was NOT told this when they were so quick to take our credit card number when booking. They said they were going to send us a $ 150 gift card instead. Why in the world would I EVER go there after this??? So I called today, yes on my birthday because I finally had a free second away from the hospital. The man that I spoke with when trying to get a refund couldn’t have cared less. He was so short and rude. Fine. I called back about 10 minutes later because I forgot to get his name. A girl answers. I told her I wanted his name. She LITERALLY told me there’s too many people here and she doesn’t know who it was. Are you serious?! I don’t know who these people think they are. Then I said to the girl ok, so since you’re not going to help me… give me your name. She goes have a good night. I said what’s your name? You’re not going to give me your name??? SHEHUNGUPONME. I had a trip booked to go to Jamaica tomorrow. Guess what? Delta airlines and the Royalton hotel even allowed me to cancel everything. Delta gave me a credit and the hotel REFUNDEDEVERYPENNY. Sometimes things are out of your control. My cousin is still suffering in the hospital right now. But this«business establishment» wouldn’t give back $ 150??? I will never go here and I will tell everyone I know never to go here. What horrible, horrible business. The owners should be ashamed and the managers should be taught customer service. We’ve been all around the world and never had this happen to us before with such horrible business«policies». I thought I was going to a restaurant, not to what seems like some corporation that has NO compassion for their guests. I don’t care how good the food is and honestly I’ll never know because I won’t go here. Terrible, disgraceful, sickening. Especially to be treated the way I was when I called today. Place is a joke.

We’ve had great meals in Paris, NYC, San Fran, Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, DC, Rome, Vienna and now you can add to the Jersey Shore to the list, yes… Red Bank has a world class restaurant and it’s Nicholas. A strong wine list, superb service, and the food. It’s all about the food. The Foie Gras is a must, my wife had Cod… which was perfectly prepared, not over or under cooked. I had Suckling Pig… oink friggin oink!!! It’s their signature dish fr a reason. The deserts are inventive and competent. Nicholas is a winner.

This was one of the best dinning experiences I’ve ever had. The cuisine and service were over the top awesome. I was expecting a lot based on reviews I had read before this visit. To my delight they were even better than my expectations. We were a party of five and could not help but taste each h others selections. The presentations were perfect. My favorites in the appetizers were the scallops and the soft shell crab. The entrees while all good I particularly liked the duck and the suckling pig. For desert, the peach soufflé is to die for. This is a higher than average priced restaurant but well worth the expense.

This was hands down the greatest dining experience I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable. I had gotten up to use the restroom and came back to my napkin folded perfectly on my plate. Little things like that make the experience special. The food was incredible. Besides the 3 course meal, you receive an amuse-bouche, which that night was an excellent almond gazpacho, as well as a sorbet intermezzo with homemade croutons which tasted like cookies. Yum! We told our waiter in conversation how my fiancé and I were getting married in 2 months, and along with the 2 desserts we ordered, they brought out a 3rd with a candle. So amazing! The night ended with a goodie bag of homemade banana bread and homemade chocolates. Simply amazing. See the pictures and definitely go! Worth every penny.

We sat at the tables near the bar. Freshly baked bread was brought with our drink order. We ordered the bar menu for the night: scallop appetizer, halibut main, and almond cake dessert. What a great deal for $ 35. Comfortable seating with friendly and attentive service. A very nice evening. btw There is a business casual dress code for the dining room but if you sit in the bar it is much more casual.

This is for the bar menu dining. We did the prix fixe dinner menu, three courses. Appetizer: beets, dinner: suckling pig, and dessert: beignets. All were seriously awesome. We did the wine tasting menu as well. Great value eating at the bar! Hidden gem.

We were here in January for my brother’s birthday. We booked the Chef’s table with the wine pairing. Overall a great experience. Met by valet at the door, greeted with champagne at the bar while waiting for the table to be ready. We were then ushered downstairs and greeted by the kitchen staff on the way down. Head Chef Nicholas(not owner Nicholas) was fantastic, as was his help in the kitchen. Every single dish that we had was fantastic. They even accommodated my wheat allergy without making my dishes a far cry from the others at the table. We were able to ask questions and had a fantastic evening. My brother enjoys cooking so this was a treat for him especially. The champagne was very good as well. We bought a few bottles to bring home. Overall a fantastic time with great food, company and view.
