Definitely worth a visit, cute charming deco, little house with small outdoor seating, two great owners and eager staff. food is fresh, not overly sauced, yummy flavors. we weren’t terribly hungry so we shared a delicious pulled pork and shrimp tacos and salad, will be back multiple times for sure and GREAT value. A wonderful addition to the hood!

go if only for the chips. I have eaten a lot of chips, and these are the best chips I have ever eaten. the mashed sweet potatoes are dense and flavorful; whipped and topped with cotija cheese. the spicy pepitas are a zesty and satisfying cocktail snack. if only the margarita lived up to its complements. it was weak and underwhelming. next time I will order straight tequila. and chips.

Ate here last week, had the special seared scallop entrée. F’N DANK. Need I say more? Great ambiance and friendly service as well.

Cute little mexican place, hip design. Great mezcal drinks,(grilled pineapple-mezcal sour) and great tequila drinks also. Really good tacos that come with rice and beans. House-made corn tortillas. Super chocolate pot de crème dessert, chocolate with a little peppery spice. Can’t go wrong here.

Our first time here and a really fresh experience in an upscale but casual setting. The spinach and mushroom quesadilla was a surprising gem and was gobbled up with sour cream. The black bean soup was a smooth and tasty with a drizzle of sour cream. The stars of the show were the steak tacos made to order over slaw and the giant burritos with fresh spring mix. I was not as big of a fan of the BBQ pork as compared to the steak, but order it if you want something mellow. For dessert, you have to get an order of churros for the table. They melt in your mouth and are nothing like the hard sticks you would find at any other place. The wine and beer selection are decent and not over inflated prices. This is a must-try restaurant for anyone who wants an authentic Tex mex menu in a hip and new edge environment for a decent price.

Nice location, 7pm booking for 4, easy free parking. Great choice of appetizers, nice ambience inside, great drinks. Waiter was just the right amount of attentive, we were there to take our time & catch up with friends so we were in no rush, and we were nicely not rushed. Main courses were 10⁄10 for all 4 of us! Chocolate Habanero desert was a great finish to a 3 hour evening… with no rushing! Yay! 5 stars! We’ll be back!

Another hip eatery(along with Mercato, Flat Iron and Bread and Bottle) comes to Red Hook. An intimate dining experience in a cozy spot with a mixologist that creates and serves complex and delicious libations to compliment the diverse selection of handmade tacos and burritos that are made with fresh jícama, avocado and shredded cabbage. The guacamole is deilcious with chips like none other, and a smoky wonderful salsa may be ordered too. Can’t wait to visit again. Recommend getting there soon, it’s trending and soon there will be a long line of repeat customers trying to get in.

Come here before the lines are too long. Make a reservation. Dynamic. Drinks taste like entrees. Fresh the operative word. The most unique take on this popular style of cuisine ever?

It was okay. A little too pricey for what you get. The burritos were large but not my style. It was like chipotle: you get it(actually served in foil) and there’s a little salad on the side for $ 14…and its dry… and chipotle is bigger… and actually tastes better. Lol! Service was pretty slow but friendly. Very small inside. I had to do some odd maneuvers to get in and out of my seat. So because it’s small, it’s also very loud and hard to hear someone right across from you. Also, my friend complained that the drinks weren’t strong enough but I think that’s a personal preference, haha! I mean, there were four of us and we only got burritos so there has to be something to be said for that. Which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 because the place is called modern taco not modern burrito. So I wouldn’t completely dismiss this place. At least give it a try because the food is fresh and the place is clean and new.

Since our food was served last night, my friends and I have done nothing by rave about how good everything was!!! I got the Chipotle Shrimp Tacos and the cupcake for dessert(the name is escaping me now!), while my friends got the spinach quesadilla, spinach burrito, and the cupcake. All of the food was delicious, wonderful, and amazing! This was definitely New York City quality food, but at an affordable(and comparable to other places) price. We’re already planning on going back and trying other things! The atmosphere was great and the wait staff was attentive! It is a little tight, but the experience far outweighs worrying about that! Great place for great food!

Wonderful Mexican food with a «modern» spin… Everything is cooked to order using what is obviously excellent quality fresh ingredients. The flavors and texture of ingredients shines through. For example, the corn and black bean soup tastes of fresh sweet corn and the deep, rich earthy beans along with notes of cilantro and other herbs and spices. The trio of salsas was also excellent and served with addictively delicious tortilla chips that appear to be house made. Tacos were great, especially the fried avocado(you can mix and match… The taco entrée gives you a choice of two types). The stuffed poblano pepper over quinoa was a guilt free delight. I can’t wait to return and sample more of the menu. Service was cheerful and attentive. Modern Taco is a great addition to the Red Hook dining scene and I highly recommend it. The only issue is the relatively small dining room that makes reservations critical if you plan to dine during a busy weekend evening.
