Good coffee, good pastries, good sandwiches, good tea, good lemonade… OK prices. Try their Bfast Burrito. You won’t regret it.

I love that I live close enough to a place that offers to fulfill my dangerous chocolate crave-attacks. So yeah, imma give you guys a solid four stars but you’re gna have to teach your staff to hustle bc one order takes approximately eternity.

Per my son, Budd’s is the talk of Bard college. We’re both vegetarians which is great since Budd’s has a ton of vegetarian food. We both got the veggie burger and I can honestly say that it was one of the best I’ve had(I recommend getting it with cheddar). They have a large number of coffees and my son had an overpriced-but-deservedly-so latte. We noticed a «roasted butternut squash quesadilla» on the special menu. Made with goat cheese and filled with sweet things, it was basically a tasty dessertadilla [trademark pending]. We enjoyed our burgers and dessertadilla while watching a bluegrass band(Man About a Horse out of Phillie) doing covers of classic rock songs(I Will Survive on banjo is epic). Apparently, there’s live music every weekend. On the way out, we stopped in the back at the homemade fudge and truffle area. My millennial college son got Heath Toffee Fudge & Butterfinger Fudge. I got Dark Chocolate Fudge cause I’m a purist(and dark chocolate is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy). If you buy a pound of fudge, they’ll give you half a pound free. It was a great experience. I recommend this place.

It’s definitely a cute little café with lots of drink options & threats. Great place to sit and talk with a friend or get some work done. However, the baked goods that I have tried are not very good… rather stale-tasting actually. But the atmosphere definitely makes up for it. Plus the workers are nice. I’ll have to go back to see if I can bump up the stars.

Food is okay, coffee and chocolates are good. Literally every time I order food it isn’t prepared correctly(no bacon in bacon and egg sandwich, no dressing on salad, or avocado missing which they charge extra for). It’s just super annoying to pay full price for something that was half assed.

Once upon a time there was a mother far away from her college-aged daughter. The daughter was having a very tough time and Mom wanted to hug her but sadly, her arms weren’t long enough. Mom thought about flowers? In a snowstorm, they’ll likely die on the way there … much less, freakin’ expensive! She closed her eyes and thought«where’s daughter’s happy place?» TASTEBUDD’S! Online Mom went and there was a place to order some Macaroons and chocolate covered strawberries that could be delivered THATDAY for a mere $ 5!!! It sounds like a fairy tale but it’s so true! I got a prompt, personal email explaining there was a snowstorm and potentially the delivery would be delayed but there was a break in the clouds(undoubtedly accompanied by angels) and Mom’s love was delivered to a girl who cried happy tears. Thank you again, Daniel(hug for you forthcoming next time I visit) for being the postal service and creator of simulated Mom hugs in the form of delicious macaroons.

I used to frequent the place quite a bit. It’s a great place to gather, for parents and kids, students, anyone in need of a casual meeting place. But I must say the coffee(for a café especially) is sub standard.

Everything you could want in a college town café We have come here year after year and every time are happily pleased to find that everything is still sumptuous. The soups, the sandwiches, the pastries, and coffee drinks are all just PERFECT — every time. Yes, it can be slow when packed on autumn weekends. But there are far worse ways to spend time than sipping a beverage, listening to good music, and chatting with each other as we wait to be served.

My breakfast was amazing, my large ice coffee was perfect, and the staff and the lady that I assume was the owner was beyond nice. Lots of foot traffic in and out during the AM locals getting there coffee. Fun times. Can’t wait to come back.

You wouldn’t know it from my(recent lack of) check-ins here, but Taste Budd’s is one of my favorite spots in Red Hook. I have fond memories of meeting friends here for lunch, over-caffeinating on their coffees, lounging here on a Sunday afternoon, or coming here after dinner for cappucino and dessert when I didn’t want to pay more for the same type of thing at a nearby restaurant. I’ve enjoyed the variety of salads, sandwiches, wraps, baked goods, etc., and hot and cold beverages. I similarly enjoy the variety of seating options where you can select from a lot of reading materials or scan your own devices. This is, for me, one of the places that gives Red Hook its charm.

This place is crazily overrated. The coffee is not very good, and the food is overpriced. I came here twice with friends who are crazy about it, and just didn’t get it. You will find a lot of students here who seem to think that coming here magically helps with their coursework, like the kids who brag about hours spent in the library.

Just ate here today. It used to be «The White Rabbit», but it still has the same whimsical and unique vibe. This place is atmospheric! There’s a pretty archway at the entrance and outdoor tables. Inside, there are couches to relax on and the walls are painted with dreamy tree branches and clouds. It kinds of feels like you’re Alice stepping into Wonderland. Taste Budd’s has a wonderful array of beverages. I got a frozen latte today — it was creamy, refreshing, and had just the right amount of sweetness. Actually, it was one of the best frozen coffee drinks I have ever enjoyed. My breakfast panini was excellent. It consisted of an omelette, cheddar cheese, and vegetarian bacon(yup — they cater to the vegetarian crowd as well as the most carnivorous of folk). There are some fantastic wraps and sandwiches here, but I would say this restaurant’s strength lies in its drinks and sweets. One can find an impressive assortment of teas, hot/cold coffees, etc There are baked goods like chocolate croissants, muffins, and cupcakes. Miniature cheesecakes, fruit tarts, and chocolate desserts are expertly arranged behind glass to tantalize even the staunchest of health nuts. There are also gourmet chocolates in various shapes and colors(today, I saw some in the form of tiny purple pyramids). These works of art are hard to resist(did I mention there were chocolate-covered popcorn balls on a stick?). If you’re in Red Hook and are looking for a laid back place to enjoy lunch, coffee, or a sweet goodie(or perhaps all three?), try Taste Budd’s Café. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to enjoy the chocolate scone I took home from there.

I love Tastebuds! and I haven’t even gotten to have the full experience of the place yet! The food is wonderful! the atmosphere is casual and fun. Coffee… excellent! Very important! I always read that there is live music and things to do there, but I never get the chance to get down there. They are very big in the community doing local street fairs, the big County fair. You want good coffee, great food and a laid back atmosphere, check them out!

I was looking for the overall coffee shop experience. This place doesn’t have great coffee, but it certainly one of the best places to hang out in the upper Hudson Valley. And the speciality drinks, smoothies, and some of the food are pretty good. here is my detailed review: The exterior of the café portended a cheap experience, with plastic furniture on a grass lawn and Christmas lights hung without care. At the end of a walkway into the coffee house a sign advertised an open mic night with poetry welcome. The inside of the shop was a completely different experience. It had a little of everything, including an impressive array of coffee syrups, fudge, books, cookies, and pastries. Several employees moved about behind the counters, each attired in tie-dye tee shirts and jeans. I ordered a raspberry smoothie. The patrons sat on the sofa, comfy chairs, stools with high tables, or comfortable wooden chairs pulled up to game tables. The pleasant scent of mocha seeped through countertops. As I sat down on a stool, I noticed the two beautiful stained glass windows opposite me. A painting of Easter Island Heads adorned the wall along with about a dozen other paintings. The smoothie was cool and flavorful. The semi-nerdy clientele looked like they were variously studying automata theory or Dostoevsky. A pair who must have had a part in The Royal Tenenbaums was carrying on a polite conversation to one side at low volume. Clearly this was a serious study zone. On my way out, I ordered a small regular coffee to go: probably Columbian, but the country of origin was not evident or offered. It was a largely tasteless liquid with a mild hint of coffee, reminiscent of Panera Bread or McDonald’s coffee.

Awesome hot choc. Broccoli cream soup hardy and tasty. Wide selection of sandwiches, wraps, quesadillas etc. Great. Not inexpensive. But worth the $$$.

I come here a lot. Actually, I come here almost everyday. It’s a given that I will be at Taste Budd’s at least once a day, if not two or three times a day. This is mostly because it is open longer than most of the other places in Red Hook, and is one of the only coffee joints in Red Hook. As is with many places, they have good days and bad days. I have had coffee that has turned out to be a cup of half coffee grounds(gross), and sandwiches that were literally burnt black on one side. The food tends to be overpriced in general. The bagels are probably my favorite bagels from anywhere, and the breakfast sandwiches are always tasty. I am also a huge fan of the soy chai latte. I feel like the drawbacks are in general a result of allowing high schoolers to cook the food, and lack of clear management. But it is my most frequented hang out spot, and I would never stop coming here!

In my latest pursuit, for the purrfect Soy Chai Latte, I have been been disappointed and I have been brought to the heights of Chai rapture. I needed to console myself after going to Red Hook to visit a specific shop. Which closed. Yesterday. Buggers! We spied down the street a groovy flash of signage and went to have a look. It was Taste Budd’s. Catchy outdoor space but when we went in, I was surprised. I anticipated a chocolaterie and coffee joint but not the hipster vibe and the hunker down selection of furniture and seating. With Bard College nearby, I should be not surprised. If I were a student there, I would live here. Besides dessert and«cofferings,» they have sandwiches and other bites. I would certainly make this spot a must redo when next in Red Hook which has many other enticements lining its pretty streets. Today the Soy Chai Latte was good but the search continues… For purrfection.
