We’ve been to the Great American Saloon about a dozen times over the past few years. Every time has been a good experience. The staff is always friendly and professional and the food is really good. The menu is different and you don’t get the same ol same ol. We’ve had pasta, steak, burgers, the pineapple bake is really good also. The décor is dusty and tired and it’s a bit dark. Everything is clean but I’d enjoy it more and probably frequent it more if it was brighter and less cluttered.

Alright. The food wasn’t bad and the waitress was friendly, there were a couple booboos though. The waitress offered complimentary bread as most restaurants do, but it never arrived. Secondly i ordered a house salad which comes out prior to the meal. My family received their meal but no salad. My mom had to interject as I’m too shy to ask for most things. Finally got it nbd. My father however ordered a crab dip bowl which came with chips for me to munch on when he finally had his fill, i was in mid reach for the last chip when she picked up the plate with the rest of our plates and took them back. Sadly i didn’t get to eat it. So yeah good food friendly staff, but not so great for your neighborhood social anxiety girl.

Excellent food with even better service. Came here tonight 5÷23÷16 with my parents. They are from Maryland wanted to go to the best place to eat in York County. Waited for about 10 minutes for a table which wasn’t bad at all considering how busy they were. Food came out at a reasonable pace for the dinner rush and the food was great! My mom found something in her meat loaf(turns out it was just an onion sprout) but the waitress took half of for her having a brief moment of worry. Excellent customer service and great food. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great place to eat with a friendly staff!

We enjoyed the food, our waiter was very nice and came back to us often to see if we needed anything. I got the fried seafood platter, and my boyfriend got steak. The loaded baked potato soup was wonderful. I also like their bread and honey butter.

I am writing this review so that management does something to make the service and food the way it was when I went there for so many years. things are changing rapidly and it makes me very unhappy. when we were told the waiting time would be approximately 15 minutes we were okay with that. It took over an hour which we sat at the bar and had cocktails which were very good. my husband had beers and I had a vodka martini. we were then seated and placed our orders. my cream of crab soup came and I waited until my husbands onion soup come to the table which is approximately 15 minutes my soup is cold. our Caesar salads were never delivered. and our dinners have arrived my rib eye steak was extremely tasty and very fatty:(. mashed potatoes were preplated and microwaved. and molded together… you can keep mashed potatoes hot and fresh by putting them in a container in a frying pan with boiling for an extended period of time water. my husband said his dinner was good and we got in the car he told me his French fries were cold and his steak sandwich was not very good. this soup is very good. we were never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert we came home to have an amazing crumb cake that I made for breakfast I’ve heard of freshly brewed coffee

Great food and fast service once seated. We’re always happy to come here. We also love the wide variety of choices on the menu. This is a pretty popular place so the wait times can be a bit long on the weekends. I typically get the filet and have never been disappointed. The side of skillet beans are the best.

1st time here… Food was outstanding!!! Service was perfect!!! Thank you Kristen!(Our waitress). The ONLY issue(which doesn’t really matter) we were told 20 – 25 mins for the table, but waited 45 mins… But the wait was worth it. We had the fried Mac-n-cheese to start and I had the Ribeye Tuscan steak, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. In today’s Craft Beer craze, they were slightly lacking, but a selection of about 6 drafts and another 8 – 10 bottled brews. I totally recommend this place. We’ll def be back and start taking our visitors from out of town here.

Awesome local restaurant, not a chain. The atmosphere is a nice sort of old time theme, but not dingy or outdated, just right. The food is awesome! Steaks are cooked perfectly, the pasta is both delicious and enough for three meals, and the cream of crab soup is the best I’ve ever tasted. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous for everything. Great alternative to chain restaurants in the area!

Everything is always good. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and wonderful drinks. It’s so much food we always have left overs.

I have been going to this restaurant for years and have always had great meals. The dishes are so consistent from one year to the next, I was disappointed that they dropped the lemon chicken with capers from the menu. It was outstanding, but I now have a new favorite.

Foods good unfortunately the service is horrible. They make a good steak and almost everything else but the wait staff is always missing when you need something.

Please do not go here unless you are starving. I ordered the meatloaf and ate so much it was like thanksgiving. Service was good, bread was good. I wasn’t a fan of the meatloaf sauce. I like gravy instead. This is one big restaurant with two separate themes. The kitchen is the same one. We have eaten at both so you cannot go wrong at either one.

Not too many choices for good food in red lion. This place is pretty good! I came with a large table of 10 people. We each ordered something different. Most of the food was good. One miss was the crab cakes. The rest of the food was yummy, our service was great, and the drinks were better than expected.

I have always heard about this place but never been here until recently. The food is outstanding, I have never had a bad meal here. The staff members are all very pleasant and helpful. I look forward to going back and trying more!

I’ve been to this place twice. Both times I ordered a ribeye medium rare. First time it was dead only 3 other tables seated. The steak was cooked perfect our appetizers were great and service was good but not great. Second time it was packed no wait. Ribeye was overcooked. Service was HORRIBLE server got all of our drink orders wrong(only 3) and she was mad that we wanted them corrected. Nothing worse than a place that’s inconsistent and judging by the reviews this seems like the case. I will not return

Beware future banquet event holders! We’ve eaten here many times(in the restaurant section) and the food was fine. But we just ate here last night for a banquet and our food was awful. My meal was chicken: a rubbery, dry chicken breast that couldn’t be eaten dry no flavor rice frozen peas and carrots(really? I didn’t know this still existed and surely shouldn’t be served in a restaurant!!) Why not a baked potato and a normal vegetable? Service was unfriendly and waitress removed full plates of food without even asking if we were finished(including the people who were not seated at the time of the table clearing.)

I was very very surprised, how delicious the food was. Discovered it while driving home one night, even our son enjoyed the food. The portions are huge, but still tasty. Service was excellent. We will surely be back.

. Our favorite local restaurant. Is a little expensive, but worth it. There is almost always a wait, but the food is always freshly made and tastes phenomenal. We have yet to order anything bad and like to try different things. Don’t leave without trying the Grilled Meatloaf. We think it’s worth dying for! The best local calamari too. When we don’t feel like fighting the weekend date night crowds, we order take out and is just as fresh and good!

Sat at the bar tonight. Good food as usual. We had French onion soup a favorite! Tried the fried Mac & cheese balls in tomato cream sauce, YUM! The sauce went with it perfectly. Bar tender was a bit stand-off’ish, my only negative of the visit. Bartending 101-make your customers feel like they are visiting an old friend.

Always friendly staff. Food and wine reasonably priced. Although it is called a «saloon» I don’t see it that way. It is a nice restaurant with a bar. My ribeye was nice, although I ordered medium and it had blood throughout. Wife’s sirloin was order medium well and it was dry. Almost well done. Salads were huge. Potatoes were dried out. Would I return? Sure. No place is perfect. If it happens again, maybe I would say something. At least we were not rushed.
