I really like this store! The variety of fabric colors and prints is so wide it’s almost overwhelming, but they lay it out and organize it so well that it’s like wandering through the library(I’m a bibliophile, so that’s a compliment). The employees are friendly and laid back, so you can shop in peace and confidence. On one visit they let my 1yr old son stalk their dog around the store, which was very nice. I’m not a quilter, but I shop here whenever I need a cotton for something I’m making for my kids because, holy smokes, the quality and selection is SO much better than JoAnn, where the selection never changes and is tacky/juvenile/boring. But the fabrics at Sew What are stylish and gorgeous and high quality. I found a print there that determined my daughter’s nursery décor in entirety and I’ll use it for 20 years(hopefully she won’t live at home that long…) You get what you pay for here, so if you’re used to bargain basement fabric from the big boxes, it might be tough to swallow these prices, but you’re getting better stuff and the money stays local. Worth it. The only drawbacks are that it IS a quilting store, so I can’t really find fabric for my own wardrobe or any sort of furnishing, and the stock of notions and hardware is pretty limited, and their hours aren’t conducive to my kind of evening fabric binges. I get that a wide range of fabrics and notions is tricky to achieve while keeping your prices competitive, but hey, I can dream right? Maybe if enough of us ditch the big boxes and shop here they’ll be able to expand a little :) Definitely give this store a visit.
