Sweet pulled pork or pastrami sandwiches. All the Calfire guys were there as regulars. The service was quick and pleasant. Little place, doesn’t look like much but worth stopping there.

I stopped at Smoked on my way to an appointment looking for a salad. What a gem! No green salad, but they had«boxed meals,» that included meat and a side dish(potato salad, cole slaw, smoked sweet potatoes and a few other things to choose from). I don’t typically like BBQ because I don’t like messy sauces, especially sweet messy sauces all over my food. They serve the BBQ sauce on the side, and it’s not super sweet, it’s more tangy… I loved it! I ordered the tri-tip box with potato salad(I’m gluten-free, so this was a perfect meal for me.) I had my meal and I was out the door in 2-minutes. The tri-tip was tender and perfectly cooked, with a light pink center and sliced at about ½″. Typically potato salad is too sweet, but this was definitely NOT sweet. I’ll be back to try their ribs soon!

It was all good. Driving through Redding and needed a quick bite to eat. We each had the tri tip sandwich with homemade Cole slaw. Great bar b que. Cole slaw had fresh apple pieces and dried cranberries with just the right amount of dressing.

Today was a long travel day and Redding was the perfect stop for lunch. BBQ sounded good so I picked Smoked based on my buddies at Unilocal.I had the smoked chicken boxed meal and he had the pulled pork sandwich. The chicken was falling off the bone delicious. I think the BBQ sauce was 50% of the delicious but it was melt in your mouth good. He felt extremely satisfied with his pork sandwich. The chicken comes with a side so I had the macaroni salad. It was too peppery for my taste. But definitely go for the Smoked meats they are really good!

I went after seeing the reviews, and I did enjoy the tri-tip plate. For about $ 10, it was four thick slices of trip-tip with one side. It would have been even better if they threw in a roll of something of that sort. My girls got the two meat combo with pork ribs and chicken. That comes with 2 sides. We had macaroni salad and roasted sweet potato, and the sweet potato tasted just like the Asian sweet potato! I noticed that the pictures on Unilocal show the same 4 slices of tri tip in a combo meal. That would be a better deal to get the combo, which for 5 more dollars comes with more meat and another side. My husband said the pulled pork sandwich was good, but I didn’t try it. I liked that they put the sauce on the side. It had a nice flavor and wasn’t overly sweet. I don’t like sweet bbq sauce much, so it was good for me.

Excellent BBQ. I had the stacker sandwich with coleslaw. The bread was soft and fresh. The pastrami, pulled pork, and tri– tip was tenter and juicy. The coleslaw was fresh and homemade.

Simple and delicious. Had a tri tip sandwich… just meat and bread with a side of BBQ but the meat was very tender and juicy and the roll soft and fresh. Great service.

I made the beautiful mistake of coming in here one day in the middle of November of 2014… I’ve come back 3 – 4 times a week ever since. These sandwiches are seriously next level. I get the stacked with toasted bread and a side of chili if they have it. Enjoy:)

This is damn good BBQ. And I mean«slap yo mama» good! Stopped by for lunch after houseboating on Shasta before heading home to Reno, and this grub may have saved our lives! Hubby and I shared a Smoked Stack, and a Gut Buster, the day’s special… both were fantastic! The meats were superbly cooked, juicy and flavorful. And homemade sides… yes, HOMEMADE sides! Macaroni salad and potato salad were both delish… nicely seasoned and not swimming in mayo.(Dontcha hate it when someone tries to slide that nasty«supermarket tub salad» in on ya?) Not here… tastes like Grandma made it, cuz it’s his Grandma’s recipe! Nice folks, great food, good prices and a full belly! Grandma’s gotta be proud of that!

Omg! If only lived closer I’d come here more often. Too bad I was just passing by … service and food was perfect! Definitely a destination I’d consider, and recommend, if I was passing by again.

I wasn’t even aware of this place until today. It’s down airport rd where I’ve never been but it’s well worth the extra couple minutes drive to get there. The food was exceptional. When I go to BBQ restaurants I look for tri tip and ribs. The Tri tip had a great smokey flavor. The ribs were sooo tender. You will crave them and go back. Homemade BBQ sauce was cherry on top. Oh and customer service was exceptional. The owner is one of the nicest guys you will meet.

Best BBQ in Shasta County by far! Although the inside seating is very limited(3 tables), it was worth it. The tri tip was tender and had good flavor, as did the ribs. The BBQ sauce was just right for a middle of the road flavor — not too sweet or spicy. The potato salad was very good(4 out of 5 stars) — so not the Reese’s carton yuck that most places resell. Joe was working the counter all by himself and he was great! Very polite, friendly and fun to talk with.

Swung by on a 8 hour drive home with our 3 kids — everyone loved the food and environment. Service was brilliant, bbq sauce wonderfully smokey, chicken juicy, sweet potato a nice touch. Great meal and atmosphere all around! Go get some bbq!

I was in town on some business and this joint was about a mile away from my office here in town. One of the guys I work with mentioned this place so we have it a try. Now me being from Texas, of course I had some high expectations for BBQ. I was told the tri tip sandwich was good so that’s what I had. I also didn’t realize they don’t call any kind of meat tri tip down in Texas. I didn’t realize that! I’ve had it a few times in San Diego and never realized I had never had it in Texas. I ordered the tri tip and the sweet potatoes which also I learned that this whole time in Texas I had been eating yams that they called sweet potatoes! Man I learned a lot from this place lol. Now back to the food. The tri tip was very bland, like no salt whatsoever! Thankfully the bbq sauce was good enough to make up for it. One of my co workers had the pastrami and he said it was spicy which was strange. The strangest thing was some of the other guys at the office never even noticed that there was a BbQ place here and they go to the coffee shop almost every day that’s next door in the Peking lot. So maybe they will enjoy this place better than I since they are not accustom to real Texas BBQ. I will not be back. When I pay $ 10 for a BBQ sandwich it’s going to be back home in Texas. Lesson learned!

Synopsis: Super, duper good! What this BBQ place lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up for with their tri-tip sandwiches and slaw. Not to be missed! Full review: Tucked in a small, nondescript shopping plaza lies the heart of a true grill master. The pulled pork and tri-tip sandwiches should not be missed by die hard BBQ fans and light-weights alike. While there, I recommend the homemade coleslaw. I have never been a fan of slaw until now. Poor hubby can no longer claim my portion! The in-house dining facilities are small. Just 3 tables so be prepared to share this experience elbow to elbow with other lucky diners. Or order your sumptuous lunch to go and enjoy at your leisure. I am happy to report the unfortunately small dining area is fully wheelchair accessible.

This place looks like a dive. I didn’t even think it was open. There wasn’t a sign with a name I could see and the drive up menu simply said, «pull forward». But I did see a sign in the window that said BBQ and my curiosity was piqued. Luckily I didn’t need a menu. I pulled up to the window and ordered the same thing I get at every BBQ place I go to. Tri-tip sandwich. I’m really skeptical at this point and also put off by the $ 10 price tag for just the sandwich. I pull away and peek in the box intending to head home and eat. I get about 10 minutes down the road and I can’t stand it. The smell. I have to taste it. One bite and the bread and meat both melt in my mouth. The smoked flavor is one of the best I’ve ever had! I’m hooked. Best bbq in Redding by far.

OMG!!! This place is amazing! The BBQ and sides were all so good. What stood out the most though was the pork ribs. They were seriously the best ribs that I’ve ever had. The meat was so tender and flavorful it fell right off the bone. The sweet potatoes and cole slaw were also very very good. There were even diced up apples and cranberries in the cole slaw. For such a small place off the beaten path this is the best BBQ that I’ve had in Redding! Highly recommended! AAAA++++

Great place in Redding to grab BBQ, wasn’t disappointed with Unilocal reviews about this place. Worth the drive out of the way for good bbq from the rest of the places. Will be back for sure when I’m craving ribs, will also be looking forward to trying their links and chicken next time. Coleslaw was also really good, comes with apples and raisins in the slaw. Only thing I will skip is the baked beans, they were ok but not disappointed as it’s not the star of the meal anyways.

The ribs are the best that I’ve had, and you can even buy them vacuum sealed to take home with you to heat later! The prices are good. The food is not slathered in BBQ sauce(eeew) and instead you get a container of it to use on your food, which is nice. The BBQ sauce is also good, not sticky sweet or designed to cover the flavor of the meat. We’re definitely going to be back there. Absolutely delicious.
