Went here several years ago, when they first opened this location. Thought the food was good but the staff was completely RUDE with a take it or leave it attitude. I said to myself I would never go their again. Was hungry and in the area today. Stoped in at the drive up. No welcome to the Taco Barn, just can I have your order. I was the only person in driveup. When I got to the window the cashier was unfriendly and more interested in carring on a converstation with another co-worker. I paid, and received my order. I was not offered hot sauce but had to ask, I was not asked hows it going today or greeted in anyway, NOR thanked in ANY way, but was just allowed to drive off. Well I guess I will try them again in another five years if I have to.

I was in Redding for a couple of days and was hit hard with a Mexican food craving. I wanted something cheap and fast. Cheap and fast I got but the craving still persists. I had the carnitas burrito. The meat tasted as if it was cooked in cooking oil and then not even drained. The guacamole was tasty enough to make me consider a second visit and a different menu item. I would not order the carnitas burrito again.

I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it was pretty tasteless. I also ordered extra sour cream and guacamole. The guacamole looked like soup and both condiments, like the chimichanga, were tasteless. What a shame. Cost– $ 6.99 chimichanga +1.90 extra for sour cream and guac. My daughter ordered a beef taco $ 3

The cali burrito was good, the french fries would have been a lot better cooked crisp but it was ok. I’ll go back to try something different next time then update. Still haven’t found taquitos like they make at a favorite place of mine in Portland Or yet, maybe this place can compete we’ll see.

Dear Taco Barn, I love you. I love your California Burrito with Chicken, the one with the french fries in it. I love that you already know my crazy custom order when I come in and never get it wrong. I love that your food tastes just like that of a taqueria in SF. Please don’t ever change. I love you, I really do. With Love, Stephanie Stika

I think the food at Taco Barn was outstanding. The ambiance was not fabulous but I was there to get a quick mexican meal so ambiance was not really important. We had taquitos, burritos, chips and salso. All of it was great. They have a salsa bar so you have your choice of salsas. The people were nice. Would reccommend to my friends and will definitley be back!

This place has a drive through… and good food! A lot of times the thought of fast food makes me sick but I can’t stop for lucch. Solution = Taco Barn. Fast service and food that tastes good. Not the best Mexican I have ever had, but up around top 75−80%. Get a torta!

Taco Barn is our once a week must have. I love the Buce tacos. Rich flavor and perfectly seasoned. Try the fish tacos or the carnitas burritos. I would recommend the food it’s some of the best«fast-mex» in the area! Good service and a drive up window on those night you need to pick up dinner!

Couple weekends ago, after taking in a show by The Gourds and Patterson Hood, I had a carnitas burrito at 2:00AM purchased from one of the food stands in downtown Portland. That, my friends, was a 5-star taqueria meal. Taco Barn has this new location in Redding, and the original on Deschutes Road in Anderson. Neither comes close to living up to the standard set by that joint in Portland, but both are good. I give the one out on Deschutes Rd. higher marks for its weirdly out-in-the-sticks location and funky ambiance. The Redding place is quite a bit more pedestrian — set in an old fast food joint in a strip mall parking lot. But the food is very good, and the carne asada tacos are great. Yeah, there’s the name. «Chimichanga Chicken Coop» or «Pozole Pig Stye» wouldn’t have been much worse. Don’t let the unfortunate name dissuade you, though.
