Tortilla Flats

I will not eat here again. Slow service. Food was horrible. It was not hot… Luke warm. They charge you for Xtra tortillas. Will not be eating there again.

This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. A step below Taco Bell. I do not suggest this restaurant.

Old restaurant, looks like a faithful local crowd, service wonderful, we tried it once, won’t be back. Hardly any chicken in the chimichanga, lots of beans. Priced high for the quality of food. Left with our stomachs full because we wanted to eat what we paid for and then regretted it. I feel bad leaving this review because the people were so nice but I have to be honest.

Great burrito and tamale, delicious sauce. Ambience is kitsch in a good way. Funky dark restaurant. Very nice waitresses and I give them points for wearing supremely silly mini skirt Mexican peasant dresses.

Met my girlfriends there for lunch. The salsa was tasteless, so we ordered guacamole and had to doctor that up because is was awful. The chips were stale, but the drinks weren’t too bad, we opted to pay up and went to another Mexican rest. not too far down the road. So glad we made the choice to leave. Will NEVER come back. My question is how come the cook doesn’t taste test the food they serve???

Hands down, absolute worst experience ever. From the time we sat down it was a disappointment. The water tasted like it came from a hose, lemons were soft. The tortilla chips were so hard it almost broke my granny’s tooth out ! When our meals were put in front of us, the appearance was NOT appetizing, we were hoping it would taste better than it looked but were proved wrong. The chili rellano looked nothing like a chili, it was a nasty slimy lime green color that resembled a banana slug. The chicken taco was Completley flavorless and totally soggy, and the fajita burrito had nothing but dry Nasty beef inside. The best part of the meal were the beans and rice and those were even terrible ! When we told the waitress we were disappointed in our meals they were rude and sarcastic and The owner tried arguing with us. She tried to get us to pay 25 $ for the couple bites we took off our plates but We left without paying for any of it. To sum it up, we will NEVER go back or recommend this place to anybody, I would give this place zero stars if I could.

I hadn’t been here in a long time –because of past experiences– but i think they have stepped up their game. Although things are still dated and the waitress uniforms are a little demeaning, we had great service and food. Next time I’m in the mood for nachos this is where I’ll be going.

Some of the worst food I have ever eaten. I should’ve saved my money and went to a better CHEAPER Mexican food place. The service was awful, it was impossible to get a refill or more chips and salsa, and the employees were all fighting and arguing. Completely awful experience

Went to this place back in 2011 while on a road trip. The mediocre nachos I got were burned while and when my grandmother left a bad review, she was greeted with a very mean spirited reply (presumably from a tortilla flats staff member).

Just finished dinner here and all I can say is horrible. Just horrible. The service was good, but besides that… Bleh. My stomach already hurts. I’d rather spend money on a dinner at McDonald’s than this place.

The staff was very good and seemed concerned about their customers. The food on the other hand was the reason for the 3-​star rating that I gave it.

Some of the absolute worst food I’ve ever had; horrible. Don’t waste your time or money because there’s no reason to ever have bad Mexican food in California due to the abundance of restaurants of this genre. Cheap tortilla chips from a bag, the «salsa» was chopped tomatoes and water and the meal was just gross. I can’t see why or how they’re still in business! Disgusting!

I would give this restaruant 6 stars if possible. The food was excellent. Four of us had: a seafood burrito, tortilla soup, and two taco salads. Every dish was perfectly prepared. They have a full bar with generous pours. The manager was welcoming and our server «Lori» went overboard to be sure we were all satisfied with our meal. As a person who writes reviews on Unilocal often, I say forget about the previous low marks on Unilocal and give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

I just attempted, I repeat attempted, to have lunch here with my family. No exaggeration we waited for thirty minutes for someone to offer us a drink. When no one even said they’d be with us shortly during this thirty minutes we had to leave, without lunch.

If you are looking for bland Mexican cuisine than this is the place for you! I went there with my wife and three kids. None of us finished more than a quarter of our meals. In fact, we went right to McDonald’s afterwards. The salsa is disgusting and is basically crushed tomatoes from a can. I ordered the Carne Asada. The meat was flavorless and over cooked, as was the beans and rice. The lettuce was brown and the tomatoes tasted funny. We thought we would play it safe and order chicken nuggets and fries for my four year old daughter, but she spit out the first bite of a French fry and didn’t eat her
chicken nuggets because they were burned and overly saturated with grease. Even the water tasted funny! This place is gross!

Don’t let the «rough» exterior fool you, the staff is very friendly here and the food is pretty good. As a mexican, I can say that I approve. I was very skeptical when I saw that this was the place my family had chosen for lunch but it was a nice dining experience. I’m a sucker for good frijoles and they sure delivered!

I’m not even going to get into how bad the food is. Read the reviews they say it all!

Went for the first time today. Worst decision I’ve made in a long time. Food was horrible. If you think about going here, grab a $ 1.00 frozen meal from the grocery store instead. Cheaper and will taste the same. Their salsa is from a Pace Picante jar. For real. Waitress was totally awesome though. I’m so mad that I spent $ 25 it’s not even funny. I never write reviews but took the time on this one because I don’t want anybody else wasting their money.

Their food gets 4 stars and their vibe gets 2. Could definitely use some updated interior design and I think the waitress’s outfits could use some updating as well. It honestly just feels stuck in the early 90s. Seems like the kind of place that only regulars are going to really appreciate.
The food however was actually really delicious! I got a chile con carne burrito and my fiancé got a chimichanga — both were great! Their chips weren’t my favorite but I’ve had much worse. The salsa was pretty good though. If the vibe was more welcoming it could be one of my favorite Mexican food places in redding. The prices for the food would be more reasonable if it were redesigned as well.
In the end if you’re looking for some well-​made Mexican food and not get hung up on the vibe this would be a satisfying place for lunch or dinner.

Tortilla Flats has been owned by the same family forever. Service is good. Kathy is an attentive and friendly waitress! The food is okay. My sister likes to eat here, so when she’s in town we stop by for lunch. I don’t feel very healthy when I walk out the door. The food is on the heavy side, but the good service is worth feeling a little lethargic if you don’t want to cook.
