Gouge alert: This Valero is selling gas for $ 0.45/gal more than the Valero on Shasta Street, a mere half-mile away. Scumbag alert: For the extra cash, you get to deal with about 10 times as many tweakers, bottom-feeders, dirt-bags, weirdos, winos, né’er-do-wells, perverts, deadbeats, flops, mother-grabbers, washouts, scofflaws, creepers, and riff-raff. Not to mention the incredibly horrible music they blast non-stop over the incredibly horrible sound system. And not to mention that the ingress/egress is a lot like driving a car inside an M.C. Escher lithograph. I can’t explain why this Valero attracts such a high density of losers compared with the one on Shasta Street. After all, the Shasta Street Valero is in the same neighborhood as some of Redding’s gnarliest fleabag rent-by-the-week hotels, with high percentages of shirtless, prison-inked AB109 parolees and registered sex offenders as residents. My best guess? The draw at the Eureka Valero is all about proximity to lots of cheap fast food and the two high schools. At the end of a hard day of smoking weed and watching TV you can do a little bump of meth, grab a Monster Energy drink at the Valero, score cheap smokes at the Less Smoke Shop next door, jaywalk(or ride your tiny BMX bike) across the street through traffic for a cheap burger and fries at Burger King, sit near the sidewalk, and leer at the freshman and sophomore girls as they walk home from school.

Convenient location and offers gas at less expensive rates than a vast majority of other places in town — probably the best deal on Eureka Way. However, as other reviewers mentioned, the lot is unfortunately pretty small and cramped, so this place is convenient as far as non-busy times go — throughout most of the day; rush hours and days when people are heading to the lake being the exceptions. Also, I noticed that this place doesn’t offer squeegees for people to clean their windshields with.

This Valero is about the same as any other. They do have a very small lot, so larger vehicles pulling RV’s or boats will block other drivers in. If you are in a hurry, this can become quite the inconvenience. Saturday’s when boaters are heading to the lake is not the day to stop in for a few gallons.

Would not accept valid out of state ID to purchase beer. Liqour store a few blocks away had no problem with it.

I always liked Valero gas. It usually one of the least expensive but I feel that the quality is good too. This is my go to station in Redding.
