I’ve been to many coffee shops, usually to study and never have I been FORCED to buy something to stay. As I was studying I was told that I needed to buy something to stay. The employee was rude, he did not even ask how I was doing, he just asked if I was going to purchase something and if not I had to leave. After they told me this I was too frustrated to study and left. I am very displeased with their policy and will not be returning here.

So I was driving to my dentist the other day when I came across this restaurant. I told the girlfriend Later that I wanted to eat there for lunch the following day. Well, we are glad we went. She had the Redlands salad with chicken and avocado and she loved it. I had the Kale Caesar salad. Their Iced tea and Chai latte were good. we shared a bowl of Ratatouille soup. This was a coffee shop before but I can’t recall what it was called. The current owner kept most of the original décor in place and only made minor cosmetic changes. I like that actually because it was comforting for me to be in a familiar place

I hate to be that person but I just don’t see the hype with this place. Was the pizza good? yes. Was it worth the $ 13– I just don’t think so. Was the salad I got good?(the birks I think it was called) it was an iceberg lettuce with a pesto dressing– I thought the dressing was delicious but overall the salad just seemed plain no wow factor.

My fiancé and I tried Bricks and Birch for a light lunch. This place is A-OK. The price is the biggest negative here. Atmosphere is pretty cute and hipster. This place is small with few tables, so I don’t think it’s the best place to go for larger groups. We ordered a Rocket Man pizza for about $ 15, a cold brew, and a small honey cinnamon latte. The beverages were pretty good here, but we can get the same quality and a larger size at Augie’s coffee shop down the road for a cheaper price. Rocket Man pizza was also cooked well brick-oven style and tasted pretty good. Nothing blew us out of the water about the pizza though and I don’t think it’s worth $ 15. To be honest, it’s kind of hard to screw up a brick-oven pizza anyhow. The toppings weren’t super plentiful on the pizza either. The size of the pizza here is comparable to Pieology and the quality is pretty similar, but Pieology is half the price. If you have a big appetite, one pizza will be really cutting it for two people. I think one pizza is only enough if you both want to eat on the lighter side. Overall, I think Bricks and Birch is worth a try if you live in the area and want to try something new. I’d also maybe give it a go if you want a more slow paced/laid back atmosphere to have your coffee and a light lunch and you don’t mind spending a bit more. If your on a budget though, you can definitely get more for your money elsewhere.

This is my favorite place for studying, getting coffee, or just hanging out. They have free wi-fi if you are looking to study here. There’s lots of seating, but during lunch time it is usually packed. It is really hard to find parking, but it’s so worth it. Their pastries are so yummy and they add new treats all the time. The pizzas are great. I’ve had the swineapple pizza(without sausage), mushroom brie, and eggplant parmesan. I’ve yet to try the others. Their pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired oven which gives it a unique smokey flavor. The coffee is sublime. They also serve stumptown coffee. I enjoy getting the cold brew on hot summer days(or any day actually) because it is just so refreshing. On colder days, I look forward to getting their lattes to warm me up.

The ambience is very nice here. They have a lot of seating which makes me more likely to come because I come to these places to stay and study. With headphones I feel like it’s very easy to keep to yourself and study, or have a group study. The staff seems friendly but the ones I saw were not wearing a uniform and I found that to be a little off putting because I don’t know where they’ve been or what could be on their regular clothing. Not a big deal though. Everything except for mostly the pizza is at a pretty good price. I didn’t look at the salad prices unfortunatley. The scone I bought was around $ 3 and my tea was also around $ 3. Pretty good prices. But the 4 stars is because I really do have an issue with how expensive the pizzas are. $ 15 for a pizza? That keeps me from coming back and ordering some. I don’t care how good it is. They don’t seem to be that large either, could feed two, maybe three people. Parking is crap. And the closest spaces are only two hour parking. Not very good for students who want to stay and study long term. Overall good experience.

They have almond and soy milk! Have lots of vegetarian options available for snacks and meals and soup is always vegetarian I believe! :) gluten free and vegan pastries, fresh fruit juices. I love the variety. 2 hour free parking in the streets Love the ambience. I’m so amazed of the changes this coffee shop has made over the years. It just gets better and better. I love studying here. Just wish the parking situation was better.

I’ve been here a bunch a times and I’ve realize this place is nice and rustic to the point where it seems your in some kind of lumber area lost in the forest lol! I really do enjoy this place, the location is perfect and the outside does not look like the inside at all! The moment you walk in this coffee shop, your experience starts its kind of like walking in Narnia from an ordinary outside to an extraordinary inside! Parking sucks because everyone wants to go here, so you would have to drive around for a bit. And you could also park across the street but most people don’t think you can, but you can. «Behind every successful person is a substantial amount of coffee»

Been here 3 times now and every single time I have been satisfied. Usually no wait, staff is friendly, and both their pizzas and salads are fresh and delicious! Their crust is on par, and the seasonings are just right that it doesn’t overpower your taste buds. I haven’t had the pastries yet, but one of my patients have told me how they make them there and delicious they are. Drink: Chai Tea Latte — superb, lemonade — not too sweet and yummy Pizza: Mushroom Brie, Margherita, Caprese, Rocket Man — ALL great Salads: Redlands bowl — ordered it each time, only thing missing on the consecutive visits was the piece of bread that I had gotten the first time. Not sure if they forgot or if this isn’t part of their salads anymore. But fresh and good! So support your local spots and check this place out.

Brooks and Birch is a cute little spot in Redlands. Its located right around the corner from Wilson’s Classic Barber Shop(a place I frequent regularly) and The Vault Martini Bar(a very popular Redlands night time hang-out) Wifey and I tried the place out a few weeks back while before my appointment at Wilson’s was due. The place is hard to pin down with an easy description. Its kind of a bistro meets bakery meets Starbucks meets pizza spot meets gastropub(sans the alcohol). Confused yet? No real need to be, you’ll «get it» when you walk in. Delicious and interesting selection of wood-fired pizzas, a yummy selection of salads. mouth-watering pastry treats and baked goods… mmm mmm mm! Wifey and I tried one of their pizzas and found it delicious and just the right size! For those of you interested in their cold brew coffee. I only recommend it for the true coffee lovers out there. The taste is very strong and bold. I was only able to get through half of their small size. This stuff will put hair on your chest whether you want if there or not! A neat little spot to hang out, enjoy a bite, listen to the music and study while enjoying their speedy free Wi-Fi!

Everything is for the most part great here! It’s cute, the pizzas and pastries are good, and the service is always wonderful. I love the pumpkin pastries and the iced tea is a nice simple tropical one that I love! My husband and I come here a lot. The one thing is: the wi-fi setup isn’t the most reliable, so if you’re there to work and you need Internet, make sure to save save save your work as you go along or do it somewhere else, because every time I’ve gone it cuts in and out, and one time I lost a huge piece I was working on because the page crapped out and when it reloaded, everything I had done was gone. :(

Redlands has really been stepping it up in the last few years in terms of offering the community with great small local businesses, and this place is no exception. I also love that fact that the pizza scene has recently exploded with options! Want a fast-food Chipotle style pizza? Go to pieology. Want to feel like you’re in Chicago? Go to Romano’s. How about weird toppings? There’s gourmet pizza shoppe. This place just opened up two months ago and I was curious to try it out, knowing that another wood-fired pizza place exists in the area(La Volata). I remember when this place used to be the coffee shop Café Royale, which I have fond memories studying here when I was a student, so I was also looking forward to seeing how they transformed the space since then. First impressions walking in was that this place was totally hipster, which I love! Also, the atmosphere is much more casual(you order at the front and seat yourself) than La Volata, so even though the two places both offer wood-fired pizzas, this place is much more approachable for the casual diner. Since it is casual, the menu is also much more streamlined, offering just pizza, coffee, and pastries. There is no alcohol served here. My husband and I ordered the butternut ricotta pizza, and it was great! Their house-made ricotta was amazing, and the butternut squash was roasted just right. I have no complaints about the pizza. What makes this place stand out is that they’re the only place that carries stumptown cold brew in Redlands! And not only that, but on TAP!!! My husband said it reminded him of beer, and even almost tasted like a beer version of the cold brew coffee. Maybe it was the nitro in it? I’m not sure, but it was nothing like I’d ever tasted before. I’ve had stumptown before, since I also frequent N7 Creamery in Rancho Cucamonga, but it tastes sooooo much better on tap! If you love coffee, pizza, and need a place to study, this place is perfect!

Loved the brie and mushroom pizza. Excellent! Lots of flavor and perfect texture. Also had the Brick Salad with pesto dressing and I really enjoyed it. Went well with the pizza. Iced tea was yummy. Tried two desserts — neither one turned out to be my preference(Phil’s Bar and Peanut Butter/Choc bar), looking forward to trying others. Pizza was fantastic!!!

Tried this new place for lunch pretty good. Basically they serve brick oven pizza and salads. Also have pastries and Stumptown coffee. Ordered the«Starch de Triomphe» pizza which my wife liked and the Kale Ceasar Salad which was quite nice. Nice ambiance. Will be returning to try some items. Kinda of a casual place though with paper plates and plastic utensils, also you need to pick up your own items when they are ready.

Bricks and Birch is a new coffee shop and pizza place in Redlands. They offer Stumptown Coffee, which is really good. The pastries are homemade too, which is nice. My favorite is the cinnamon roll and Phil bars. The pizzas are artisan personal style pizza. Ingredients are fresh and everything is made in house. My favorite pizzas are the margherita and the butternut ricotta. I’ve also heard really good things about the kale salad. Really great little place! Check it out!

First time walking in and ordering. Staff was laid back and friendly and attentive to our needs. We ordered the rocket man & major pepper pizza, the Italian chopped and Redlands bowl salad. Food was very flavorful and good. Food was ordered and made fresh in less than 10 minutes! Prices were fair for food quality and presentation. Atmosphere resembled a laid back indie coffee or casual café vibe. Place is small so great for small groups. Dessert: Ginger lemon Cooke was delicious very sweet and chewy/crunchy combination. The cold nitro brew was smooth and deliciously medium coffee flavored. The strawberry scone was moist and thick. Very smooth. Once again super fast service. Looking forward to trying new things from the menu such as the espresso ice cream. The only reason we didn’t rate 5 stars was because we kept getting attacked by an annoying fly! They need a fly blower installed over their door when walking in.

This was our first trip to Bricks and Birch. They just opened fully over the weekend. Now I usually visit someplace a couple times before my review but I wanted to add some pros and cons, so here goes: Pros: Great historic location Like the coffee selection and pastries looked good, but I did not get to try them. Concept is good and the décor is fun see photo, dining room is relaxed and reminds you of a coffee shop, with pizza! Cons: Gourmet wood fired pizza was not excellent, not bad but not great, see photos we tried a couple, the dough was a little tough and a tad undercooked for my taste. I think they will settle into it and we will definitely update it. The salad was good, a bit overdressed but I am usually an on the side type so take that for what its worth. Parking can be a little challenging as they are downtown. I miss a good glass of wine or craft beer with pizza Staff seemed competent but not to chatty, likey newer and getting into a routine. No, I had more cons than pros but I think that many may be fixed in their second week in business. I am so happy to see this type of place in Redlands and will go back Update We stopped by for coffee and desert pastry after dinner time last week. The cappuccino was a little slow but not bad, the s’more brownie looked good but may have been a little old, it was the last one in the case and it was pretty dry. We will try in the morning.
