«Where everybody knows your name.» After a hard day of work, or to celebrate something special — this is the place to be! The wait staff is quick to remember not only your name, but what you like to drink. It’s truly like going to a friend’s house. The back patio has heaters and is a true respite for those of us who like being outside.(Quaint and homey). My ONLY complaint is that it would be nice to have more vegetarian options. They do their very best to accommodate my dietary restrictions, but would love to try something new. Great Job!

Good hamburgers for lunch but a recent dinner there was very disappointing. $ 21 New York Steak was only slightly better than what’d you get at Sizzler. Used to be pretty good but ownership or management not sure which changed over a year ago. The service even at lunch can be very spotty. They never seem to have enough help. Stick to the hamburgers & chili.

Total disappointment!!! My husband and I had a great first visit to this establishment so we decided to enjoy another one. WRONG!!! We were seated at a booth which was great considering there were only about maybe 15 people in the restaurant. We ordered our drinks and crab cakes. Our drinks came in a timely manner. Then our server came back to tell us they had no crab cakes so we ordered spring rolls(they were fried). My husband ordered prime rib($ 30.00) which was«fair… Corky’s is better» as he put it. I ordered salmon and it was VERYVERYDRY so I waited and waited and waited for our server to come back and ask how we were doing or if we needed anything well she didn’t. I had to get up and find her to let her know what I needed. BADCUSTOMERSERVICE!!! As we «finished» up our horrible dinner, she asked if we needed anything because more than half of my meal was still on the plate. She looked at my plate and said«It was a bad night» referring to my plate. There was no offer to change the plate, discount the bill… NOTHING! We paid our bill and still gave a generous tip and all we got was a piece of cheesecake. Needless to say we will not be returning to dine again. Word to the wise… BECAUTIOUS!!! This is a hit or miss type of restaurant.

Fabulous food and outstanding service made for a memorable birthday celebration for my husband and me. Lori, our server, and the rest of the staff were friendly and accomodating. All of the food was delicious and attractively presented. This was our first time dining at Tartan and will definitely not be the last!

Had a wonderful first time experience here. Called in the morning and made reservations for my wife’s birthday dinner. Linda was gracious and even accommodated my special menu request. When we arrived we were greeted by our lovely waitress Lori who took great care of us. Her service was outstanding. The food was delicious and the Tartan Special dessert was to die for! Jeff, the owner came by to chat with us and wish my wife a happy birthday. All in all, we had a terrific time and will definitely come back soon and often!

My husband and I were regulars at the Tartan. Service is friendly/efficient. But after last night’s experience, we will never return. Last night I ordered Halibut which was a very small portion, and it came to just over $ 27! This is outrageous! On the menu, it stated Market Price. With the exception of maybe lobster and steak, dishes are reasonably priced at Tartan. I wanted to order salmon but the last two times I’ve ordered salmon, both times it was served over cooked. I thought I was safe with halibut. I also had to spit out my jacket potato as I found hard grisly bits. We were so tired(after a long day at work) that my husband and I left the food on our plate, didn’t bother complaining to the waitress, paid, vowing never to return. I really don’t recommend the food here. The place is so dated and the menu never changes. There are far better restaurants in Downtown Redlands and a great Italian one which has just opened across the street from the Tartan.

We came here for Valentine’s Day and although they had it decorated really cute the music was way to loud and the food was over cooked! Our bread was burnt on the back to where you couldn’t eat it. The porkchop was over cooked and dried out. We order crab cakes and they were dark on the outside and cold in the middle. The staff were friendly and helpful! But the food needs some quality control. We will try again on another night that isn’t a holiday.

If you’re a Redlands local you must go here! Cute little old classy«diner» style restaurant with amazing food and even more delicious drinks! The waitresses are super outgoing and friendly– they make you feel like you’re one of their best friends right at home and the atmosphere inside the restaurant definitely screams comfortable. I highly recommend any of their martinis, steaks, fried zuchinni, fried green beans, and the bistro chicken salad… all to DIE for! They also have a cute little side patio you can sit in when the weather is nice out, which helps it’s already positive aura, too.

This place would be one of my favorite spots in Redlands, but every time we come, the service is spartan. The food is fantastic, the décor is great(feels like stepping into the mid 20th century), and the servers are nice, just overworked. Our waitress had to cover about 8 tables inside plus an unknown number on the patio. We never got extra napkins, and only one refill. It’s really too bad, because everything else is great. We won’t come back for a while because of the service.

I give this place a 5 star because I have been coming here since I was 7 yrs old and it’s one of the last of the Mohicans in Redlands, it’s been there for 51 yrs or so. I think the food is great and it’s right in downtown Redlands. Enjoy

This was my first time at this restaurant. Not only was the food amazing. But the staff was fantastic! They made last minute accommodations for a large group two days before the event. Linda was so great to work with. And our waitress rocked! Didn’t mess up a single order every individual check was correct she deserved and earned every bit of every dollar that was tipped! We will definitely be back. Thank you!

You’re always going to get great food at a fair price with friendly service at the Tartan. How else can you be in business for decades without that? They haven’t updated the décor or the prices in years. So it’s got that old school vibe at 1980’s prices. While you can’t go wrong with anything you order, there are two things that you should try if you’ve never been here. Have a Tartan Burger. They’re fantastic, a great value, and filling. For a drink, have a Tartanic. You can’t drink them all night because they’re too sweet, but you can start off right with one. All of the food is good and there is a different special every night of the week. You can sit inside where there are no windows, or you can sit outside on the patio. I’ve always found parking in the parking lot in front of the restaurant.

I only come here sporadically and to be honest I have no idea why because I should come here way more often. I’ve come here on and off for the last 20 years and EVERY time I’ve come here the food and service have been nothing less than outstanding! From a basic Cheeseburger to the soups to Grilled cheese or Grilled Steak it’s all delicious quality food. The Prime Rib is a taste experience all in itself. I find it stunning, the consistency of the quality of food and quality of service that Tartan of Redlands has Miraculously been providing FOREVER. Not to mention a great location right at the corner of beautiful Historic Downtown Redlands. They also offer dining indoors but also outdoors in an awesome patio area. Bravo! Tartan of Redlands… Well done.

Awesome throw back atmosphere. The burgers have been constantly amazing over the years. Prime rib on Saturday’s, best in town. As for the staff… GREAT people!

This is definitely a locals place– my group was the only people there that wasn’t well acquainted with the staff. We had decent service, but that could have plenty to do with one adorable mini me(yes, brought a baby into a bar). We all pretty much ordered the same thing, one gigantic burger with enough toppings to make it $ 15. Worth every penny, it was stupid amounts of delicious. Overall a cool low key place that I would revisit, the patio is actually quite nice during the day(don’t let the front scare you).

Lori was the best! This place needs 10 stars!!! They have a burger that tasted prime! How do they do it? I will definitely bring clients here as you will get a great outcome every time!!! Oh, and the onion rings. What a great discovery, long live the Tartan!

If your looking for an old school/divey vibe type of restaurant/lounge — this is your place! I liked it a lot! The service was good, they were very attentive. It’s dimly lit in there, but a cozy, laid back vibe. The food was good, I had a salad and zucchini(oh goodness it was good!) hubby had a steak, mashed potatoes, salad, etc… Yum! Nice sized portions I might add. They proudly serve Hangar(who doesn’t out there?) and it’s just always the best ordering whether draft or bottle out there, because it’s the freshest and they have little tricks on maximizing your taste w/the orange residue that forms on the bottom(it’s good, trust me). I recommend this place to couples, families, parties, large groups, people who love the old vinyl booths(red) and divey feel to it. It’s old, but it’s just so awesome to go in there, people of all ages(yes you got lot more old folks there, God Bless them) and the younger crowd were sitting out in the patio, this being a hot summer night, it looked perfect. Definitely going back, whether to eat dinner or grab a drink(s), it’s a cool establishment!
