I remember enjoying the dinosaur cookies, thumbprints, and cakes many years ago from the Kirkland location. The strawberry genoise cake is the first item I tried from the current spot in Redmond. The cake was good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It looked pretty… covered in white chocolate shavings with a dollop of whipped cream and a whole strawberry on the top. The outside«frosting» was light and fluffy whipped cream and the filling was an equally light strawberry mousse. The strawberry flavor was subtle but tasty. The cake itself was a sponge cake. It was decently moist but could have been even a little moister, I think. I also prefer a higher cake to frosting ratio. This cake seemed to be about 65% mousse/whipped cream/chocolate shavings and 35% cake. Overall it was satisfying and I wouldn’t turn down another slice in the future.

Had a pastry there and what was suppose to be flakey and crunchy was soggy. Probably won’t be going back after paying $ 4 for a pastry that I threw half away of.

We ordered a cake for our son’s second birthday which turned out as the best cake we ever ordered. The cake was beautiful and very tasty(especially the raspberry fillings inside the cake). This was the first time we ordered the cake here and it was a beautiful experience overall. They have multiple options(designs, models, cake varieties to choose from).

Updating this review with an additional star. The pastries have definitely improved, and their coffee continues to be awesome. The staff are still nice and friendly which is great too.

I have only tried a few pastries here, one of them being the cheddar and onion scone. The scone was absolutely delicious! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I recommend this place 100%.

I have been a huge fan of Hoffman’s for years — all their baked goods are amazing. All my birthday cakes are purchased from Hoffman’s. They were so good that I had them make my wedding cake. We got a princess torte and everyone loved it. The whole process was great. We started with a cake tasting. It was super professional — an employee sat us down with all sorts of different types of cakes, frostings, and fillings and let us mix and match until we found our perfect flavor combination. Then came the styling. They had a large catalogue of cakes for us to draw inspiration from. Anything you could have wanted, they had an example of. I was very impressed with the range of cakes they were able to design. In the end, we decided to go with a very clean and modern design that looked wonderful! We also love Hoffman’s so much that we decided to get our party favors there too. I am from Texas and my husband is from Michigan. We got cookie cutters the shape of our home states and they baked sugar cookies that were in our wedding colors. Everyone also commented on how delicious this simple cookie was. It was a perfectly balanced between sugary & buttery flavored goodness!

Delish! This is our first time here. We had a ham and cheese croissant, a blueberry scone and a cheese danish. Everything was so tasty, light and you could tell it was freshly made. The sandwiches looked amazing. They said they make their own bread, but don’t sell it alone. It’s reasonably priced and the service is good. Go in — you won’t be disappointed!

We went there last Sunday around 10 am. The display case was mostly empty — no croissants. We opted to get a few muffins and an egg sandwich. The egg sandwich was okay, though a bit overpriced. The seating area was pretty dirty(tables need to be cleaned and floor was messy) so it was hard to find a clean place to sit. Based on this first visit here, we likely will try over bakeries in town.

So I have been visiting this bakery for the past 15 years, and the Princess Torte is just as amazing as the first day I had it ! I like the other cakes they have at their bakery but my favorite is the PT Plus they always have a monthly special going . That being said about the cakes, I am definitely not a big fan of their baked pastries and savory stuff! I haven’t had it in recent days but back when I used to try it, it never satisfied me, so my review lies purely about their cakes and of course they have great customer service ! It’s possible that since their relocated shop in Redmond they might have made some changes to that but I for one am always there for the cake and many a family birthdays have been a hit with their cake being eaten to the last bite ! And they also do decent decorations on the cake for an additional fee! Happy desserting!

On a cool April afternoon I decided a little dessert would be in order so I stopped at Hoffmans fine cakes & bakery. Of all the interesting offerings I decided upon an éclair for devouring there. Imagine my surprise when it was no better than week old éclair anywhere else. I suggest they begin a little quality control on some of their desserts. Pastry was dense and chewy with filling the consistency of marzipan paste. I am giving 3 stars because the turkey/cranberry sandwich is great as well as the tomato basil soup. Both of of superb flavor.

Fabulous bakery, fairly new to Redmond, smack downtown on Cleveland Street! Parking on-street may be problematic, but there’s a garage in this building(usually with a «Hoffman’s» placard facing the street) and you can park there for free. Or there is a public parking lot behind the building. I recently visited this bakery around 5pm on a weeknight. Despite the sign on the door saying they were open until 7pm, I was a little surprised that the lighting was so dim inside, and other than myself, there was only one other customer present who was picking up a cake. I was struck by how roomy and spacious the store interior was, with plenty of tables and chairs for eating. And I noticed on the wall-mounted menu how they served sandwiches and salads, in addition to their many pastry offerings. This looked like a great place for lunch. And the pastries! Oh my. Soo many, all beautiful! The few employees behind the counter were friendly and knowledgeable about their wares. One guy brought out the cake for the other customer present and it was a show-stopper: a large, domed cake with the most beautiful cursive script wishing Cindy a happy birthday! I asked the man about it, as it was spectacular. It was a princess torte and had some sort of raspberry layer inside. It is one of their most popular items, and the customer buying it said it was to die for, they get it every year on his wife’s birthday. It rang up at $ 35 and change. I took mental note of this, for future reference(!). For my part, I purchased a variety of cookies for the family, all cost 80 cents each. After all was eaten at home, the consensus was that all were great but some were a little harder than others(note: I did buy them late in the day and they didn’t get home until later in the evening). The consensus was that the chocolate thumbprints and the poppy pockets were the most flavorful and the most buttery/moist. I should note that all were inhaled, soft or not, within breakneck speed. I will be back. Often.

Princess torte– that is all! I’m not particularly big on sweets. Mainly cakes. I will take a mini teeny tiny bite of one and be done. Most of the time, I won’t even touch it. That icing, all sorts of cheapo looking colors. Eeee not my thing. When fondant came to the scene about a decade ago, I was thrilled. Finally cakes made without icing! And all structured. Pretty! Stunning! Ahhh! There was a period I only brought well made, well designed fondant covered cakes as a present for almost everyone’s event. You want a cake shape like disney land? Oh you didn’t know you want it? You got it anyway. Oh you get the point. The problem with fondant is most people don’t eat them! Gasp. It’s stunning, it’s marshmallow paste. But still! Then came this place! Princess torte– stunning white dome shape cake with marzipan covered white cake & raspberry filling. Marzipan covered!!! Eeeeeee. You can get about 10 servings(big slices) from one. And it’s only $ 40 ish. Now that’s one cake I will never say no to. That’s one cake I’ve been having it on my birthday every year for the past several years. It is ahhhmazing, mind blowing and finger licking good. Also try chocolate éclair, marzipan(all cute animal shaped), cream puffs, chocolate torte cake! It’s a small enough space to be cute but also big enough for you to sit and eat there. It is in that strip mall like shopping plaza area. You can find plenty parking on good days. They also take custom orders. All you need is 24 hours notice. Whatever you do, don’t miss the princess torte! They’ve also decorated for me so well when I did custom orders. We’ve added sugar sculptures, sugar shoes, cute little baby carriages for friends baby showers, even some sugar diamonds ! Unlike fondant, marzipan paste is much tastie and softer. People love that stuff. Watch out if you have allergies though. Eggs. nuts and all that stuff! Overall, this is my favorite place to get birthday cakes and gift cakes! So uniquely tasty and good. Who doesn’t love watching everyone swoon over cakes that they brought! Without fail every time! I just love it! And the décor for this place is that much nicer!!!

Princess Cake has been my favorite for a long time. I was so happy when I discovered that it was Hoffman’s signature cake. I love the Kirkland location but I love the new location a lot better. The warm ambiance, try the Caffé D’arte«White Mocha Coffee» with your favorite pastry like an «almond crescent» or a black forrest cake. Or, try the add-on lunch and sandwiches that are fresh made everyday. The colors in the store, the layout and the people behind the counter and in the back are warm and welcoming. This team makes Hoffman’s Fine Cakes & Pastries as fine of a place as they come! I recommend anyone to try this place anytime. You will want to come back every week. Please give the team a congratulations for their hard work. ! Congratulations Hoffman’s on your new location in Redmond…

Positives: The staff are really friendly, and the wait times haven’t been very long on all occasions that I’ve visited. I have been lucky enough to get served amazing coffee on each occasion. Not so positive: Interestingly, for a bakery, the food is just ok — maybe I’m not picking the right items, but I’ll keep trying! I give this a 3 star, because they definitely have things that can be improved, but also this is just newly opened and has that just opened vibe. Once the kinks are worked out I’m sure it will be a 5 star for sure!

Hoffman’s is located about a block away from The Matador in Redmond. It’s bigger than their old Kirkland location with a nice modernized look. The pastries are more on the pricey side, but will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. Over the years, I’ve tried the Princess Torte, Black Forest Cake, Espresso Torte and Tiramisu and enjoyed them all. In addition to sweets, sandwiches, soup and espresso drinks are also available. On my most recent visit, I picked up a single slice of Tiramisu for $ 3.50. The cake was light and airy with layers of mascarpone, covered in whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Although a wonderful dessert, there was a little too much Mascarpone /cream for my liking… it ended up masking the flavor of the coffee-soaked cake. It was 6:30pm when I visited and they close at 7:00pm. Being near closing time, I was surprised they weren’t offering some sort of end-of-day sales as a considerable amount of baked goods were available. It’s better to sell at a discounted price than having to discard perfectly good pastries.

I was picking up a pre-ordered Princess Torte cake for my grandma’s birthday, then spotted my favorite(the triple mousse) cake in the case and added it to my purchase on a whim. It was raining outside and as they packed up my cakes, the girl ringing me up offered to help me to my car. I felt bad making her go out in the rain with me, but she said she didn’t mind, so the poor thing ended up walking a block in the rain with me to my car. It’s so refreshing to see that Hoffman’s provides great products as well as great service to their customers. As someone who has been purchasing/consuming Hoffman’s products for years, I am grateful to see them reopened in their new location!

I was expecting more after reading all opinions. The cake was average — it was too sweet. I have felt like I was eating only sugar with few drops of fruit. Cakes shouldn’t taste like that!

Poor customer service. I also felt mildly judged since even though I had been standing there for five mins waiting to be spoken to they continued helping people that looked more well off first. There was 4 people behind the cash wrap. None of them could find time to say“one moment” or «can I help you». I paid to an overpriced macaroon and it was so-so.

PRINCESSCAKE!!! Princess cake is my favorite cake. Being half Swedish — it is in my genes. But I just adore it. I always have it for my birthday and for our wedding anniversary since it was our wedding cake. Since moving back to Washington I have tried what I believe to be the only three places that serve princess cake — and Hoffman’s is the best. The cake is light and moist. The slices were obviously fresh(Princess cake does not hold up and needs to be eaten the same day it is made). It has a lovely layer of raspberry jam and whip cream. Topped by delicious marzipan. My only complaint is that there is not enough whip cream(it should have a nice big layer — see Berolina Bakery in Montrose, CA — the best I have had in America). But other than that — it was excellent. We even called a day ahead to have two pieces put aside so I would not miss out on my birthday. They were kind enough to oblige. We also tried a cinnamon crisp and a raspberry shortbread. Also excellent. I took home a spinach croissant for the next day and it was also fantastic. I think they make it with Boursin. Yummy. My only complaint is the coffee was not good. My cappuccino had that over extracted lemon taste. So I would not get coffee again — but this will be our regular bakery for princess cake. And I look forward to trying other items in the future — especially their cake slices.

I last visited Hoffman’s when they were in Kirkland. I have visited them twice this month at their new location before deciding to write a this review. I stopped going to the Kirkland bakery after the Hoffmans sold the bakery several years ago to move to California. I loved Mr Hoffman’s pastries and his family’s passion for quality and service. The new location is very trendy and has an industrial feel which I understand is popular but misses the feel of a Bakery and is more like a Starbucks. The coffee is ok but not delicious which Café Darte is usually an amazing coffee and the scone I had was dry and not very tasty. Prices ok but I ended up throwing my scone away. This bakery is mediocre at best and their new location is also not parking friendly. I plan to come back to try them for a third time to see if they improve. Customer service was almost unfriendly and not happy with my coffee and scone. This is the reason for a two star review at this time and hoping my next visit will be a higher review.

They moved from Kirkland. I am disappoint. They were so very good — they had nice soups, good sandwiches, decent coffee. The cakes were most excellent — the signature chocolate was well appreciated by the wife as the cake du jour on a birthday several years ago. Anyway, enough about the past. This year, for the wife’s birthday, I got the fruit torte. It was very good, fresh and not super sweet. The cream was just right. It was super impressive. We also got the blueberry muffins which were much appreciated. So, residents of Redmond, enjoy Hoffman’s.

Hoffman’s is God’s gift to people who love pastries. They are perfect every time. You can’t go wrong with Hoffman’s, I’ve been having their pastries for 25 plus years and they are awesome. They’ve expanded their menu to breakfast and lunch including some deliciously looking salad. I am very excited to try them soon. If you’ve never had princess torte, you MUST try it.

My family has become new regulars! We have been to Hoffmans in Redmond 4x since they have opened. Remarkable staff and great pastries and cake! I, for one, enjoyed the vegetables on my croissant breakfast sandwich! Everything delicious! We truly enjoy watching the pastry chefs cook thru the window. Street parking has never been a problem, but there is underground and a HUGE lot behind the building.

First time going to this place. Originally went to the address that came up in google(Kirkland) but it moved. Then made the trek out to Redmond, and it was well worth it. The Lemon Chiffon cake(which was recommended) was incredible, as was the lemon bar. I will definitely be having again/recommending. My friend had the Princess Torte(which is why we came) and she said it was amazing. I could not have due to an allergy — note, they use Almond products in the marzipan. Definitely 5 stars and will definitely be going back. I’d pro baby go right now since I am thinking about this place but they are closed…

We’ve been going to Hoffman’s for a few years now, of course starting when it was in the old Kirkland location. I can’t really remember exactly what menu options have changed, I think the sweets are similar to before, as are the sandwich options. They do have soup served now as well. The new location is very modern, which is probably a necessity given that it’s in a new building, and much larger than the old place. There is enough room for a good 10 – 15 groups(2 – 4 folks each) inside, with seating split between tables and the long bar facing the street. I’m going to assume that with the awning and wide sidewalks outside, that they’ll have street seating in the summer. The storefront has public parking along the street, but this can be frequently filled; note that there is actually a parking garage under the building, so check there if you can’t find street parking! The food as always is of the highest quality. You’ll definitely find other places that offer a more spectacular presentation for example, but the staff always seems to take the greatest care to do what they do, right. It’s consistent, well-made, and tasty. There’s a fraction of time where I value glitz, but there’s a majority of the time where I value quality and taste. Over the years, I’ve probably had every kind of pastry and sweets they offer, and haven’t yet found one that I’ve disliked. I think that Hoffman’s will probably change focus somewhat given the new demographics in the Cleveland St. location, where they’re going to have a lot more foot traffic. Folks that live in the building, folks walking by, at the park across the road, etc; this is going to call for a lot more individual servings, and so I’m excited to see what they come up with or iterate on. They are still selling cakes and custom orders, which is usually what we get. When we went in yesterday, they were offering several kinds of sample bites of cakes, so if you’ve never been then you can definitely get a taste. It’s always a great, quality item to bring to a party, and there are a TON of kinds to choose from. We had our wedding cake done at Hoffmans, incidentally, with three different layers(3 different flavors)… it was fantastic! I usually scope out the website before calling in a cake order, since they have their selection listed, along with any seasonal specials(like coconut in winter I think). All in all, very happy right now that even though they’ve only been open for a few days, they’re still nailing what counts; will definitely update as I see any change or iterations. With the summer upcoming, I expect a lot of visits!

A so-so typical bakery/café that moved into a new location with nice interiors. The pricing is fair, the sandwiches are nothing spectacular, and the pastries are overly-sweet for my tastebuds. I’ll go back because the place is really close to where I live, but it’s not something to go out of your way for. Also the tea is just hot water with a tea bag you choose, nothing extraordinary. Hoffman’s previous location seemed to fit the theme more, and honestly the new location is a bit too modern of an aesthetic for the presentation of the bakery items that they serve. — side not: not sure why they serve tomato slices with a ham and cheese croissant. Doesn’t make sense and the flavors certainly don’t blend well.

Hoffman’s did a fabulous job on our Wedding cake. Shortly after ordering our Wedding cake, we received a phone call that the Kirkland location was to be closing, and moving to Redmond. We had pre tasted Hoffman’s Coconut cake and it was by far better than any we had ever had. Hoffman’s told us that they would still make our cake since we had previously paid in full. The cake was absolutely beautiful and tasted as good as always. THANKYOU Hoffman’s.
