This review is for their cake. Ordered an eggless cake for a birthday. It was ready on time as promised. The cake was moist and tasted close to the cakes we get back in India. Their menu seemed on the expensive side though.

Desi mentality in customer service. We ordered 3 items for lunch, one came about 15 – 20 minutes late, the other two were promised to follow but didn’t come in 30 minutes. When we asked again we were told they were having a food inspection so weren’t sure how long the items would take. Any self respecting establishment would have been upfront about the inspection at ordering time and would have refunded the full amount for a partial meal but not these guys. They wasted another 5 minutes in figuring out how to partially refund for the items not delivered but couldn’t. So a fast food meal which should have been ready in 5 minutes wasn’t in 35 minutes and I have to wait and hope they will refund the amount for items which were not provided.

I ordered a chole bhature and a got a highly diluted sambar. Now I’m sitting at home wondering what I’m gonna do with with a whole bhatura and no chole.

Tried this place for a evening snack and I must say I was very excited to eat masala puri after such a long time. We didn’t have a proper chat stall back in Madison, WI. I was excited to see this on Unilocal and went there immediately. Ordered two different chat items and both were mediocre at best. Their price seem to be a little higher considering the some of the same chat items are priced the same or lower in proper dine in restaurants. If you consider service, ambience and other things you get in a restaurant for the price this seems a bit higher. I may give it another try and see if other chat items are any good.

I have been to this place several times since I moved to Seattle area three years ago. Basically there are three parts to this store: Bakery: This section is actually their best! Of course, Mayuri being the only Indian bakery in the area plays a role here, but that is not the only reason. They are actually quite good. Their pastries and veg puffs are awesome. What prompted me to post a review today was the awesome cake they prepared for my son’s first birthday. They had a good number of custom designs to choose from. I went ahead with an Eggless Pineapple cake with a Winnie the Pooh design to go with the Jungle theme we had chosen for the party. The cake was a hit at the party with everyone asking where we ordered it for!(See the cake photo that I have uploaded in the photos section) However, the cake was definitely on the pricier side. Sweets: Quite good. Probably the best on the eastside(although there are not many choices here). The Besan laddus and Gulab Jamuns are my favorite here. Indian street food/fast food: Not bad, but not exceptional either. It was a good option for Indian chaat and fast food three years ago, but since then, better specialized stores have opened in the area.

This is a food and chai review., I have not tried their pastries or cakes yet. I’ve been here numerous time now. They have good food, and I love their chai. Just writing about it makes me crave it! Very few Indian food places get chai right — which is very surprising, but true. I have tried their chana and roti, biryani, some chaat items, and jalebi. The chaat items such as papri, aloo chaat, pav bhaji etc. are OK(2⁄5), the roti which was served with the chana was not well done, but the chana itself was good. Jalebi here is not good, and I actually have not had good fresh jalebi anywhere in the US. I’d give their food a 2.5÷5, service is 4⁄5(always courteous) but since I like their chai so much I am giving them a 4 overall! Tip 1: They started accepting the prime card a few months back, and have 10% off. Tip 2: Don’t try to finish their chicken biryani all by yourself! It is perfectly spiced, and you don’t want to stop once you start eating… but I’d recommend sharing it with someone as the portion is good, and along with the raita and the water you’ll probably need, it might make you too full to move!

A mixed bag restaurant. Say big no to chaat items. Tried one different chaat item every time I visited this place, but it went from bad to worse to worst. There was no taste in Bhel Puri, and it was like crunching south Indian mixture. Save yourself from Dahi Sev Puri and Pani Puri was neither sour nor tangy nor spicy. Besides the chaat mishits, what brings me back to this place are their Dosas, Cakes and Chaais. Ground Masala Saambar(Arachuvitta Saambar) is the highlight for their Onion and Rava Dosas. One of the best Saambars for Dosas in and around Bellevue and Redmond. I’ll be making a visit for their Chai after a hard day at work. Also their cakes are authentic like you have in Indian Bakery. This is the only bakery I found selling my favorite Plum Cakes. I am not a big fan of American/French cakes which are overpowering with sweet and cream cheese, also too pricey. So I found the cakes’ quality here worth its price.

I do not understand why some people recommended this place to me. I’ve tried several things from the menu here but none of them appealed to me much. The only dish which I thought tasted decent was chicken noodles. The chaat is not up to the mark. Desserts rather okay though. I would not recommend the food there.

Ordered a Chole Batore recently and it was crap. The Batore was too stuffy and oily. Chole was tasteless, cold, and the chole was not boiled properly. Had a eggless butter scotch pastry and the upper layer was hard while the lower layer was soft. Left a bad taste. wont venture out again.

I don’t understand the complaints :) Their Indian Chinese is fantastic and its unbelievable how large their paneer portions are at sub $ 8. The quality has been great — specially loved the Chilli Paneer, Bombay Sandwich and EGGLESS pastries. Always fresh food, prompt service and consistent quality. It serves some of the better Indian snacks in the greater Seattle area.

Paneer puffs are tasty. The entire bakery looks like it’s straight out of Bangalore. Would have tried more pastries and puffs but I think they’re over priced at $ 2.5 each.

Hopped in just to check how Indian snacks are catered to in US. This place was a bad choice. Poor hygiene that you get to notice, only once you are in. Ordered a papdi chat just for the heck of it. Its funny papdi itself was substituted by some other fried item. Left it as is and walked out. Place looks stuffy… ambience is not all that great gives a dull feeling. Never going here again.

This is my first visit to the bakery and I got Moti Choor Ladoos and Son Papidi. I am really disappointed to say that the ladoos were really bad. They were hard and also smelled like they were old. Son Papidi was okay but still not good enough for me to recommend. I would not try their sweets again.

I have been to this location 3 times now and I am not at all impressed. Their pastries are average at best and too expensive at $ 3 apiece. The chat is truly horrible. The bhatura in chana bhatura was oily and overfried. They have no clue how to make chole and make it like a weird curry. The papri chat and dilli chat tried 2 times was bad as well with an insipid green chutney, a food color red chutney instead of tamarind goodness. I had a troubled stomach both times I ate here. My friend ordered a sweet corn soup only to discover there were 2 teaspoons of sugar added at least in the soup and had to throw it away. A masala tea was over sweet and under spiced with elaichi. Since I cook decent Indian food myself I won’t be back here despite the convenience. I brought my mom– the superstar cook — here once and she was truly horrified at the newly increased prices and the substandard food. She wanted to open her own chaat place… just so no one has to experience this fare. They need to get better cooks and stem the upward creep of prices even though Microsoft is just around the corner.

This was first introduced to me by my roommate who would go nearly every week. He’d always offer me a taste and each dish he brought home made my mouth water. I knew there was the Mayuri supermarket next door, but I never walked past it to see their café. The chicken and vegetable puffs almost remind me of a light Spanakopita, but without the cheese. Try the chaat, which I was told is like Indian street food, and their manchurian, which is the main course. If you like spicy, try the chili manchurian. I guarantee it’ll knock your socks off. If you like sweets, you’ll like Mayuri Bakery. Although they’re a «bakery,» it’s really just the term for«a place with food.» If there’s one thing I know, Indian people LOVE milk and sweets. This café has over 30 items total in the sweets and pastries section alone. Unbelievable! Not to mention, this bakery’s Rasmalai is by far the best I’ve had in Seattle. I love Rasmalai and would go to every Indian restaurant to try it, but this café’s is the crème of the crop. If you really enjoy Indian food, try it out here. The restaurant is clean, the employees are patient to explain the items on the menu, and the food is worth trying. It’s not terribly crowded and they usually have most of their food stocked well so they don’t run out early.

Stopped by for some chaat(street snacks) before going on an Indian grocery run next door. Tried the chilli chaat, samosa and elaichi chai. Chilli chaat isn’t such a standard chaat item, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It turned out to be a chopped up chilli bhajji(a cousin of chile relleno) with chaat fixings(chutneys and assorted crunchy bits). A nice idea, but the execution wasn’t fantastic. The chile stalks had been left on, so there were some unexpected fibrous bits. The samosa was better; the potato filling was nicely spiced. The crust had lost some of its crispness, though, as reheated fried foods tend to. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the thimble of thin tamarind chutney it was served with. The geometry of dunking a samosa into a thimble is non-trivial. I ended up dipping it in my chilli chaat instead. Not much to be said about the elaichi chai(cardamom tea), except that it was nice and heavy on the cardamom, but a bit light on the tea. Besides chaat, they sell bakery items, mitthai(sweets) by the pound, and some actual full meals, including a few Indian-Chinese dishes. The stuff I tried was pretty middle-of-the-road, but it is nice to know I have a source of Indian junk food available if I ever get nostalgic.

Parking can be a pain with a small parking lot and a number of restaurants, groceries and other shops around. The bakery offered a multitude of Indian sweets, pastries, chaat and other snacks. At the second I entered, my eyes went crazy looking at all the colorful pastries. We bought honey cakes and chicken puff. The seating area is huge, with several tables and chairs. The honey cakes were okay; I would have expected honey to be the dominating ingredient, but couldn’t even taste a pinch of honey. However, the cake was moist and soft and I still liked it. The chicken puff was a dud. It was salty and didn’t like the chicken filling inside the puff. Will return probably for the honey cake, but I don’t plan on trying anything else here.
