I love this shop… they listen to what you are looking for, they’re friendly, super knowledgeable, willing to take your bike and fix it up upon a request or willing to share knowledge if you care to do more than just swipe your credit card. On top of that, you get the benefits of a local bike shop with national buying power… they don’t even frown at taking in returns for things your ordered at
. (Which makes it really easy to find the right size on clothing for instance…)
I’ve used them both to purchase specific bicycles, parts, repairs and general knowledge transfer and I can’t say enough good things about all of the team there including Sean, Brett, Jeff, Mike and Jacob — true bike geeks and I mean that in a good way. Yes, they do only carry certain brands but that’s true of any shop and they don’t mind ordering in stuff on the higher end of their catalog whereas it seems most of the other shops I have looked push you toward what is on the floor.
(BTW, I really don’t have anything against the other local bike shops but unless they sell something specific that Performance Bike doesn’t carry, your probably paying too much.)

If you are a tall person looking for a bike definitely get hold of Hoz. He was very patient and helpful and being a tall guy understood my requirements. Overall all staff is great and friendly. End of summer deals are good too. Thx Hoz.

Very happy with my purchases at Performance Bike including my 2012 Fuji Newest 1.0 which I purchased for a decent price in early 2013. Salepeople are, with very few exceptions, helpful and friendly.
Very unhappy with my recent two experiences paying for tuneup services for my Fuji. In April, I paid $ 133 (including tax) for a full tuneup. Before the tuneup, the bike was performing okay despite a bit of chain slippage during shifting on steepish grades. After the tuneup, the chain slippage was far worse. After 2 or 3 rides, with no improvement, I returned the bike (on a Sunday afternoon) to the store and explained the dilemma.
They offered to immediately take a look at the bike. I said the repair wasn’t urgent and told them it was okay if they kept the bike for a couple of days. They told me the bike would be ready by Tuesday afternoon and they would call me to verify the repair was finished.
Tuesday afternoon, despite receiving no phone call, I came into the store to (hopefully) pickup my bike. The same guy who spoke with me on Sunday said something along the lines «um, I didn’t get a chance to take a look at it so… let me take a look now.» I’m a calm guy and I rarely to never show anger toward service people. I bit my tongue and said, «sure, I can wait a few minutes.»
He spent about 10 minutes adjusting the derailer and noted the rear wheel was slightly misaligned. I acknowledged the wheel has only a few hundred or so miles remaining and I’d likely have it replaced once the fall season arrives.
His no-​cost adjustment made no positive difference — the chain slippage problem continued. With no faith in their ability to tune my bike, I ended up spending $ 100 at another Bellevue bike shop I found on Unilocal.Fortunately, 425 miles later, over the past 3 months, I can attest the other bike shop permanently fixed the chain slippage problem.
I will continue to purchase gear at Performance Bike, especially during their competitive sales which occur frequently. I will, however, spend my repair dollars elsewhere.

They were terrific! They really tried to down sell me! The bike I wanted for my daughter cost more and she would not have used the extra features. We bought a new bike several hundred dollars less than the one I picked out recommended by the sales person.
They probably could have sold me a new bike, however, they told me the one I had was a good bike!
They put a new seat on it, new pedals, tuned it up, and cleaned it. It looks like a new bike! Not many shops have your best interest in mind! Great job

We stopped by to see if they could help us find a very particularly sized bolt\nut to attach my son’s ridealong. I only half expected to find what we needed… it’s not like it’s a hardware store. Mike took it as a personal challenge and came out of the shop area within 5 seconds with the exact thing we needed and told us to have a great day. This is the reason we keep coming back for everything we need. Mike and the team are so helpful and go above and beyond. Thank you!

Stopped by on our way to vacation to get a bike rack and got AMAZING service today. HIGHLY recommend this shop and the staff! Thank you for getting is on the road so quickly. If you need an extender so your bikes won’t hit motor home go to u haul in Rose hill and they will fix you up!

Local bike shop service backed by excellent corporate customer service and return policies.
Mike and team are great. I always get great service when I go in. From picking up spare tubes and food/​drink, etc, to getting help finding obscure parts and odd nuts/​bolts for my homebuilt fleet, this shop always delivers for me. If they don’t have something they’re always helpful either trying to order it online or referring me to another store.
It’s also nice that they’re cyclists themselves so they recommend rides and other activities one would find interesting.
Highly recommended.

I’m rating this particular store in comparison to the other Performance Store locations while my overall includes local bike shops.
My most recent visit was 06/​14/​2015.
The cons are:
You may have to really do some homework both online and at the other store locations to know if you’re really getting an accurate price for a product. For example, I found a few price inconsistencies:
1. Sram PC-​971 9 speed chain online at $ 24.99; in store $ 29.99? I highly suspect the staff are very lazy about changing the prices.
2. I found two 2014 GT Zaskars of two different trim levels at the same price of $ 1199; the Comp and Elite. At the Tukwila store has the exact same make and model Zaskar Comp for $ 999. That’s a major price difference.
3. Staff customer service is exceptionally volatile, inconsistent and at times, incompetent. For example, at the Seattle and Tukwila Performance stores, you usually get greeted and both will go the extra mile to help you out while the Redmond store most times than not, you don’t get greeted or helped out. The phone customer service, well… here’s an example:
–Had called looking to see if they have a GT Zaskar 9r. Kevin at the store picks up and I ask if they have any GT Zaskar 9r (29″ wheel size) bikes. Kevin replies they don’t. I end up visiting the store on the way home and I find two GT Zaskars; the Comp and Elite as of 06/​14/​2015.
4. The service department… make sure you can call (maybe somebody on the phone will be honest this time!) and schedule in so you don’t have to drag your bike in to find out there isn’t room to drop it off. The back up can be as far as a month most times.
The few good things about this particular store:
1. Bikes of a high price point, say above $ 2k can be found at this store more commonly than the other Performance Bicycle stores.
2. The two guys there named Mike; they’re what really makes the store a bike store. Somebody here replied Jacob, the store manager is patient with customers and many times that is accurate.
3. Product selection generally is wide ranged as apparel, parts and bikes are offered at low and high price points.
4. You can ride the bike (slowly) in the store.
The store needs to improve on:
1. Customer service. It’s still inconsistent even after I had mentioned this to their district manager, Brian Onutz. This store needs people who are willing to answer the phone and do the work to find a product versus saying that it’s not there (Kevin).
2. Inconsistent build quality on the bikes. For example, sometimes the bikes with disc brakes are spongy, tires are significantly under inflated, jumpy shifting.
3. Pricing should be consistent but it is does not match other Performance stores or online although it is the same exact product.
My advice is, must you shop at Performance, the stores by customer service and quality rating go as such:
1. Tukwila (Excellent customer service, service/​repair dept., merchandising layout, test riding space outside, and product selection)
2. Seattle (Excellent service/​repair dept., excellent customer service)
3. Lynnwood (Good bike variety, good customer service)
4. Redmond
If it wasn’t for the sheer volume of foot traffic this store has to keep them very busy, I wish they’d improve their image as it’s no way near the quality of the other stores. I’d recommend Cycle Center of Renton, GHY Bikes, Kirkland Bicycles or even West Side Cyclery over Redmond Performance because if the dishonesty of the staff starts with a phone call and the pricing is not accurate by the range of $ 5 to a couple hundred, then how confident can you be as a consumer? And with some questionable bike assemblies that affect braking and tire pressure, how much extra should you pay for safety?

Nothing but outstanding service at this bike shop. Called about a bike issue on Friday and they told me to arrive on Saturday at 10 AM and they would fix me up. I was there on the dot. Only took them 20 minutes to fix the issue, and I was back on the road again. Great Experience.

Oredered a Fuji Track Elite from the store only because they were the only shop who would order one for me. They charged me $ 150 over MSRP but that’s not the real issue. I ordered the bike on a friday, paid for it then, and they said it would be there from the warehouse the following friday. As a Fuji dealer, I’m sure their shipping time estimate from the Fuji warehouse is pretty accurate. After no call or email, I waited until the monday after it was supposed to arrive to call and the employee who answered the phone was obviously annoyed that I had called. He told me to wait until they give me a call.
After no repsonse for another week, I walked in, and to my surprise my bike was sitting there completely built up (I had only ordered the frame), waiting to be sold. Instead of letting me know my bike had arrived, they were using it as a display to sell more of them. I know this because I spoke to one of their employees before I ordered the bike and he informed me they were trying to get more track bikes in there.
When I arrived unannounced, I’ve never seen a manager so panicked. He glanced at me, and grabbed the bike to take it in back and disassemble it. I wont buy from him again.

My son is 4 years old and perfect size to just fit his leg in like photo some how. But once in, the leg is not coming out with out pain. These kids bike has break system that does not allow pedal to rotate back.
Luckily, he was not in pain and stayed calm for 30 to 40 min as I tried to loosen the pedal but no success. We picked him up with bike into back of mini van and decided to go to bike shop instead of hospital. I figure bike guys know the best how to disassemble it to free his leg.
Mike from performance bike on Bellevue was a hero. He stopped his work immidiately and rushed to him and took bike apart in 5 min and freed him. He did not charge me and reassembled back bike for him!
He was glad that bike knowledge was more helpful than ER doctor! Awesome staff who is willing to help anyway he can! 911 or ER would have cost me a lot!
I hope a great karma will return to Mike. Thank you very much and wish more more customers to come for your great service.

Bought my first bike there during the double point sale. Michael was the first person to greet me the moment that I walked into the store and was so patient to be my personal shopping guide and help me find all the accessories. He was not pushy and tried his best to select gadgets that worked for my budget. I had a lot of fun shopping there besides feeling a little sad to see my purse losing some weight.

I see a lot of cry babies here complaining about this fine bike shop. It’s usually those who fail to communicate well with the staff that has issues. My bike has been serviced here several times without any issues. The comment about buy a screw in Tacoma was likely a joke that the typical sensitive person from Redmond or Bellevue would be offended. The kid likely meant nothing by it. I recommend this bike shop.

Be Warned: Last year we decided to join Performance Bicycle’s membership in order to get small discounts on future purchases. We paid $ 30 for the year. Little did we know that Performance Bicycle keeps your credit card on file and automatically charges your credit card year after year! It’s a sneaky, deceptive way to quietly withdraw money from your credit card account year after year. I can’t understand how this can be legal (it’s like magazine subscriptions that lure you in with freebies and then require YOU to call and cancel if you’re not satisfied).
No business should be able to keep your credit card on file and then automatically withdraw funds from it year after year unless you sign an agreement with them (we did not). After purchasing an expensive bike last year, we bought tires and several small things throughout the year. We would have kept shopping there if it hadn’t been for this sleazy business practice. We’ll report this to the BBB and hope they can stop Performance from doing this to other customers.

The Good: The manager who helped us when we were shopping for a bike for my wife was very helpful and patient while answering our many questions. Various other staffers were also quite friendly on other visits. When I bought a bike, the tech who helped me set it up spent a lot of time with me tweaking fiddly things like the adjusting the position of the brake lever hoods. I’m pretty happy with the deal I got on one of last year’s leftover bikes, and the 10% cash back you get from joining their points club adds up to real money if you’re buying a bike.
The Bad: The sales guy who helped me when I was shopping for myself tried to send me off on a bike that was obviously too small because it was what he happened to have in stock. When the bike that I insisted that he order from another Performance store arrived, they gave it to me with the front dérailleur unable to shift onto the big chainring, and the tires inflated to 35 psi when the recommended minimum is 100 psi.
Summary: The quality of the staff varies greatly; the good ones are quite good, but the bad ones… aren’t. Trying to sell me a bike that was too small for me was pretty slimy, and is it really too much to ask that the shifters work when you take possession of a brand new $ 1300 bike? Caveat emptor…

My bike rack was stolen on Christmas Eve last year. Someone got a very nice Christmas gift. Well, I also got a free bike rack from a friend of mine in the triathlon training group since she upgraded hers. It was very nice of her. However, I couldn’t get it worked. And, I’ve asked for help many times. The bike rack just didn’t seem to work for me. So, I decided to get a new one when Performance had sales going on.
I ordered a clearance bike rack online and had them ship to the store. The shipping is free if your purchase is shipped to any local store locations. This is nice because I don’t have to worry about missed or lost shipment. And, I have excuse to shop in the store.
I went there around lunch hour. They sure had a lot to do for customers. After I got my bike rack, I was excited to install right there because it just seemed very easy to do it! I was in the parking lot trying to put it on for like 5 minutes or so. Finally, the staff in the store came over and offered me a hand. Yes, even it’s simple to install, I still had a hard time. In addition, the rack shipped to me was a defect item. And, they happened to have the same model in stock. Therefore, they exchanged for me and installed right on my trunk.
Now, I have a bike rack again! Since this is not super expensive, hope I can have this one until I can afford a nicer one. Thanks for friendly service and installation. It certainly made my life a lot easier!

While on a bike ride today I dropped in to have my tires checked and one more thing taken care of. The place was crawling with people (evidently the bike industry is thriving) I was in awe with how well they took care of me and my bike even while they were super busy. Keelor in the service department is AWESOME!

This store has plenty of bicycles, ranging for casual purpose, road bikes, hybrid bikes and mountain bikes. There’s even apparel and a changing room. The service center is very busy serving with a lot of bikes coming in. What makes this an average rating review is the lack of command-​n-​control structure and fundamental knowledge of the entire staff.
I’ve been here on a few occasions to buy a hybrid bicycle, and when I’m here — the staff is seems flustered and dumbfounded. It appears that only one person knows what’s going on, or what to do. However, if all of the staff is relying on this single person for passing off customers to this knowledgeable person, then this becomes a problem of command-​n-​control and delegation.
The staff needs to be trained and committed to memorize and understand information about working at a bicycle store. Everyone should know all of the major bike routes in the area and be able to direct people around on routes. All staff should be aware of how to use a cash register, use an inventory computer, use a service order computer, and know where everything is in the store.
Because of the lack of command-​n-​control, and lacking in essential fundamentals of retail management, and customer service, it makes me concerned about the future, about using this facility to continue to provide support and service for my bicycle.
I would’ve enjoyed making my purchase here — as I have allotted my budget to do so. However, given the lack of coordination, self-​discipline, command, and efficiency with the essential fundamentals of operating a retail store, I won’t be spending my money here, unless it’s for a simple component or accessory that I can service by myself for my bike.

Good job servicing my road bike. Lifetime adjustments with bicycle purchaes and their sales are always pretty impressive.
Performance branded equipment like shoes and pedals seem like a good bargain. They also have a weekday lunch discount somedays that you might want to call about.

Helpful, striving to keep you happy, and talented, this shop does repairs and renewals to old bikes in real time, usually less than a week. Their sales of the week table is always overflowing with interesting stuff and usually for pennies on the dollar of the original price. This is where I take my families bikes.
Update: Called to get my new vintage bike worked on. And they said the repair shop was backlogged. The tech did not seem to be too interested in seeing the bike asking me to not bring it in until I had an appointment.
No worries, I’ll wait for them to check their calendar. 5 minutes later they hung up on me. Oh well, I’ll take it to Redmond Cycle who took it immediately and promised it by this Friday. Maybe I’ve found a new fav bike shop.
