Went on a Friday afternoon and the place was not very lively at all. The pictures of dogs on the walls are cute. The Red Dog beer apparently wasn’t available anymore even though it was on the menu, along with several other items(the waitress said she was really frustrated they haven’t updated the menu because customers often get angry). No big deal but I can see others getting overly upset. The food was alright, a good selection and everything seemed pretty fresh. The food was super slow to come out which was confusing for how empty the place was.

Horrible service and burnt burgers. That and the waitress looked like she HATED her job. Before we left home we checked their website to see what time they closed and it said 9pm. We showed up at 7:30pm thinking we had enough time for a beer and some food. Wrong! We sat down and they started turning off signs. When we asked if they were still open the waitress said«Yeah…we’ll be open for a little bit longer if you order now.» That should have been our indicator to leave. The only good part about my first visit to Red Dog was the beer and I could have gotten that else where. Don’t think I’ll be returning.

HORRIBLESERVICE! Showed up at 7:30pm, checked hours beforehand to see that they close at 9pm… shouldn’t have been a big deal… evidently it was the worst thing to have happened to our waitress who treated us like the biggest inconvenience that had ever walked through the doors. My food was fine, but the fact that she was turning up benches before we even got out food(around 7:45pm) made us feel extremely unwelcome. I also ordered one of their own brews(Monkey Face Porter) and it was served to me in a bottle… which I wasn’t given a heads up about… wtf?! It’s one of your brews! It should be on draft! NEVER going to again…7th St is ran by the same brewery and has far superior service and menu. Don’t waste your money here.

Really good hamburgers. Nice addition of a wood burning stove. Being an old, drafty building it needed it. Thank you!

Loved this place, food was great and all the dog photos on the walls kept us busy for the entire dinner. Will go back next time I am in Oregon.

Ok, full disclosure. A picture of my dog is on the wall. Easy to spot… It’s the cutest one. Keep in mind that this is a great choice to or from the airport due to its close proximity. Good beer, part of the Cascade Brewing group. Good pub food. Nice atmosphere.

What a nice concept. Pictures of dogs all over the walls, who can argue with that? Othe pluses: Decent beer selection, staff that know a little something about the food and drink menu. Food, great! I am a b**** about service, I will admit it. But our server was fantastic, I wish he would have introduced himself so I could give him proper credit here. He knew the menu, suggested something I loved, brought beverages with meticulous attention, hard to get better than that. I had fish tacos, hubby had fish and chips, friend had a burger and this fussy crowd all left happy. This would be five stars except for screaming children, how close the tables are(I felt like I should be trying to engage the neighboring tables in our conversation, it is THAT close) and they fry the fries with the fish, and fries pick up that fishy flavor. Take out the unused pool table, space out the tables and get two fryers! We will definately be back!

If you want some pub grub in Redmond go to 7th street brewery. Service is lousy and food is blah.

This is easily a five star watering hole for those who like a laid back experience to their alchoholistic journey at 5pm. High-Five. Stiff drinks that read more like rum, rum, rum, rum, bleep coke than a regular rum n’coke. Think old man pub meets walls covered with dogs? Go figure. You won’t find a pounding dance floor, or the bend version of hipsters, but you will find a rarely used pool table, tvs with sports, and an atmosphere that is inviting enough to make you linger through an entire game. The Red Dog Depot is best personified by it’s laid back demeanor & the seat yourself mentality. Drinks are stiff & quick, but expect a delay on the food side as you’ll often find the place egregiously understaffed on a busy night. This is where the 3 star rating comes in — If you have a full house you can’t have two waitresses working the entire floor and pouring drinks with one cook in the kitchen. They don’t skimp on quality, but you end up leaving with a sense that somehow you weren’t looked after. But, hey, what does it matter if you’re getting tanked off of two margaritas and your cheeks are flushing red? Your call, but I will still keep it as a personal local favorite.

Red Dog Depot 3716SW21st Pl Redmond, OR97756 The Red Dog Depot opened in 2007 in the appropriately historic Oregon Trunk Railroad Depot built originally in 1912 just east of downtown Redmond. The 2,263-square-foot building was relocated to its current setting at the corner of Airport Way and 21st Place, just east of U.S. Highway 97 and renovated in 2004. Today Red Dog Depot’s notable turn of the century style brew pub atmosphere is enhanced by literally hundreds of 8×10 photos of pet pooches decorating the walls, contributed by enthusiastic local patrons. Cold local brews is the specialty as is quick-served standard brew fair food such as burgers, wraps, fish and chips along with an assortment of the odd offerings of Yakisoba Noodle Bowl, served as you might expect, and a Curried Chicken Pita which comes with grilled chicken breast, mixed with celery, golden raisin, red onion, mango chutney and curried mayo, served in a warm pita. One of their more successful appetizer menu items has to be the Pulled Pork Nachos consisting of corn chips topped with tender pulled pork, cheddar and pepper jack cheese, black bean and corn salsa, guacamole, and sour cream, all for $ 8.50 and plenty for two people to enjoy. Some items on the menu are a success(Brew House Burger, Turkey Melt) while others are better avoided(Fried Calamari). But no matter what you choose it’s always better with ice cold beer and the Red Dog Depot has a nice selection of local brews to choose from including Sinister Ale from 10 Barrel Brewing in Bend. The wait staff is normally quite attentive and food is quick to your table. When you get bored of checking out the assortment of dogs decorating the walls, you can always pick up one of several handy game distractions available throughout the restaurant including checkers and Trivial Pursuit.

I was in Redmond, OR and needed a place to eat. Not a greasy spoon, not a pizza joint, but good food. I came onto Unilocal and searched through some reviews & decided up on Red Dog Depot. Boy am I glad I did! They have a nice selection of beers. I enjoyed the French Dip. It was the BEST French Dip I’ve ever had. Seriously. French Dip is my fall back menu choice when I cannot decide. I am now thinking through excuses to come back to Redmond so I can eat here again. I have a sneaking suspicion that anything I chose would have been good. The only compliant that I have is that I couldn’t order more food…

Good for when you’re hungry. Bad for when you don’t want to deal with loud kids. Has a nice family atmosphere in the front, and a tucked away bar in the back. Great for watching sports as well– tv’s galore. Oh, and various dog pics posted over the wall which I would presume were from patrons. Also, they had a couple bar-style tables that had inlaid checker/chess boards. You could also choose from a variety of other games– cards, dominos, even trivial pursuit. Food was really good. The cole slaw could have had a little more flavor, but the Depot Burger was really delish. Brought the cheesecake back to the hotel to eat later and I couldn’t even finish it because it was drenched with maple syrup. Way too sweet for my liking– I prefer good ol plain NY style. Good eating, good atmosphere, not bad on prices. I’d go back again!

Was down here visiting recently on New Years day and needed to get out the hotel room. Alas I looked up Unilocal and found this NICE little spot. We arrived at the perfect time because the Rose Bowl Game JUST completed and a bunch of limp Ducks fans waddled to their cars and proceeded to weave out of there. I had the Depot burger which consisted of cajun seasonings, blue cheese and bacon… What an AMAZINGBURGER… We got stuff to go, Loree got the cheesecake, which was super maple heavy, and I had some wings which were not the greatest. But I am writing about the place itself. The great perks were while waiting for your food all of the tables have a checker/chess layout and pieces so you can play whilst waiting for your food… I dont drink so I can comment on the beer selections, but the menu looked more than adequate and intriguing… All in All I WILL return upon my next journey to Redmond in the summertime…

Great casual restaurant — pub in an old Railway Depot building relocated here. As others point out, the dog photos on the walls are a nice touch. Convenient on /off from Highway 97 and near Redmond Airport. Parking is easy too in the private lot. But the big reasons to go to Red Dog Depot are the food is good. For our visit, so was the service. We had lunch for two and split the pulled pork nachos(on the appetizer menu) along with the Ale House salad of fresh mixed greens served with chipotle ranch dressing as well as a side of the delicious homemade coleslaw. We noted a number of people around us were ordering burgers or sandwiches and being offered the choice of slaw or fries with most choosing the fries. All we can say is if you don’t try the slaw, you’re missing out! Everything was quite yummy and served at the perfect temperature. It may be a little thing, but it’s an important thing we think and it was great to have the coleslaw and salad both nice and crispy cold and the nachos good and warm but not too hot to eat. Part of that was due to the server, the only one on duty that afternoon but doing a super job of keeping up with taking and delivering food without missing a beat. Plus she knew the menu really well to answer questions. We don’t drink beer, which seems to be the libation that draws people to Red Dog, so we can’t comment on the brew choices. Wine is our beverage of choice and we thought the wine list was slim but respectable. Mid to lower end wines by the glass but just the thing one would expect to be offered with a burger or home made beef stew(the special) or a Cesar salad or other items on the casual menu. They also have a full bar and a few house special cocktails on the menu. We ordered the house bloody Mary(bloodhound?) and it was very good. We live less than 15 miles away from Red Dog Depot but would not have known this place existed were it not for the other Unilocal reviewers, so thanks to them. Convenient location, fun ambiance, yummy food, friendly and efficient service, good libations and reasonable prices to boot(before tip our total bill was just about $ 21)…what’s not to like? It is definitely a «keeper». We plan to make it back soon and take along friends for happy hour!

This week in Central OR, I felt like Goldilocks. Most places I visited were too big, too small, too fancy, too corporate, too dark, too grumpy or just plain ‘not right.’ On our way out of town we had lunch at Red Dog Depot which is just off Highway 97 by the airport and it was — sigh — just about perfect. It has some of my favorite things… A little history since it is housed in a cool stone building that used to be the Redmond Railroad Depot(they actually had to disassemble it stone by stone and move it 2 miles down the road). It is owned by the Cascade Lakes Brewing Co. so my husband happily sipped a Blonde Bombshell with his meal. It is a brewpub, but also family and canine friendly. There are framed pictures of customers’ pooches all over the walls up to the high ceilings. OK, that was a little much. But, we just ate outside on the covered patio and they had water bowls, etc. if you want to bring your dog. Lunch was great and our meals were under $ 10. I had the Friday lunch special — fish tacos(cod) and my husband had a curry chicken pita. The coleslaw on the side was tasty and the kids enjoyed their meals too. Service was fast and friendly and the whole place was a little cheeky which I always enjoy. So it is easily 4+ for me.

Oh Emily, you beat me to it! Yes, agreed about liking dogs — holy wall of dogs! They’re everywhere, and if you don’t like dogs, or think that you just might have a secret fear of dogs, then do not go to this place… you’ll have nightmares for a long time. However, if you are a dog lover — especially your own dog, bring a photo, and you won’t miss your dog too much while having dinner here because you can see him staring at you while you drink your beer. It’s just like home — except they have some good beers on tap, pretty good food, and lots of TVs to check out the current sporting event(s). The el cheapo burger for happy hour on Mondays was pretty darn good. In fact, another person at our table ordered the regularly priced burger, and it was exactly the same sans bacon. I was very impressed and thought that the overall value for price was top notch. It’s been hard to find people… and I’m now thinking about a return visit and it’s 9am! If you like beer, and you like dogs — then this place is not to be missed.
