I love walking into a place with a language barrier. The staff is nice and learning so be nice. The food is what you are there for anyway. I got a salad and a burrito for my wife and I. So good! Will be back.

Unilocal… stop it. Stop giving me unrealistic expectations! I walked into this cute restaurant thinking that I was going to get a tasty CA burrito. Instead, what I got was so underwhelming that I actually had to take stock of where I was to make sure I didn’t walk into the wrong place. First of all, I’m not from San Diego, but I *am* from SoCal… and I’ve never heard of putting freaking *fries* into a burrito. That is not CA style. That is un-burrito style. Second of all, I got a steak burrito with both green and red sauce, hold the *&^%$#& fries. The burrito tasted like the love child of Taco Bell and Taco Time. I don’t mind either because I know what I’m getting myself into when I walk into those places… but this was surprising and disappointing. Again, maybe I went into the wrong place. All of these stellar Unilocal reviews can’t be wrong??? Suffice it to say, I’m glad I tried it so I can cross it off my list and only ever go if I’m so starving it’s a choice between this burrito and gnawing on my own limb.

From the reviews, you would think that this place was on the border of Mexico. It’s good, maybe even slightly better than good, but far from life changing. I could name two other places within 15 minutes of this place that serve a better burrito, but if you are in the neighborhood, by all means give these guys your business. the most impressive thing here were the 3 salsas. Each one was a home run and I think they should made a better stride to feature this with meals and sides. I had the pork and it just didn’t move me like other places. I can’t speak for the beef or chicken, but one day I may return to sample them. 10 times better than Chipoltle, Qudoba and Ooba Tooba, but not ready to be any more than the current single location burrito bistro.

Delicious so cal burrito… i had forgotten about the addition of french fries, so good! My burrito was ordered with tofu. Perfect amount of fillings, with no bites of nothing but tortilla. Fresh chips and guac, you’ve got a delicious, quick, and hearty so cal mexican meal. Enjoy!

I’ve been to S Diego’s a couple times and am sold. I’m not a burrito fan but when I had the carne asada california burrito here my mind was changed. I’ve also tried the street tacos and would recommend those. The only downfall here is they don’t have beer. But the food still makes it a 5-star review!

Expectations met and exceeded. Simple and fresh ingredients. Better than Chipotle for sure. Better than many burrito places in SoCal.

Friendly service, tasty burrito. I ordered the California Burrito with chicken and red spicy sauce. Not super hot but some heat. My wife got street tacos which she liked. «Everything tastes fresh» is her exact quote. Location can be a little tricky to get to with one way roads so use a GPS to get their quickly. Would certainly return! A for sure solid location.

Finally! A fish burrito worth raving about! We decided to give this place a try since it’s relatively new to the area. I had fish in every bite of my burrito, and it tasted fantastic. Just the right balance between the fish, slaw, fries, cheese and classic white sauce. It was the first time I’d had fries in a burrito and it was surprisingly good. My wife also enjoyed her chicken burrito. We’ll definitely be back! (Note: This place beat the pants off a well-known ORGANIC taco joint in San Diego — well, Leucadia actually — that was simply a rip off).

This place is a welcome addition to Redmond, and has become one of my favorite places to pick up a carry out meal. The burritos are huge and delicious– with or without the French fries. My favorite thing on the menu, however, is the Ensalada de Col: a salad made with crisp, fresh cabbage rather than boring old lettuce. I especially like the cabbage salad with added grilled vegetables and the green salsa– yum! It is filling and(relatively) healthy. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is tidy and bright, with cheerful colors on the walls and videos of surfers on loop on a couple of televisions. There’s some seating available if you feel like eating inside. This is a great little restaurant.

I’ve been to San Diego many times and have family that lives there but have never heard of San Diego burritos to be honest… but when a friend took me here and wooed me because the thought of potatoes(one of my favorites foods) inside burritos(another one of my favorite foods) I just HAD to try it. I’m glad I did! They are very fast and the food comes out quick — even during a busy lunch rush. The burrito was just as good as I thought from walking in and smelling the food. I got the chicken california burrito with white sauce and it was so delicious. Loved the fries and guac and how it tasted topped off with their medium salsa. I do think that the burritos could be bigger for the price. It’s probably 1⁄3 smaller than a Qdoba burrito for about the same price. For a bigger dude, one burrito doesn’t seem like it would fill you up — so maybe order something else. Overall, I think this is a must try if you’re in the area but not something to go out of the way for.

Supposedly the owner is from San Diego and the carne Asada burritos are done San Diego style. Not true! I lived in San Diego for 15 years and miss their carne asada burittos almost as much as i miss Pacific beach. These ain’t them. And this isn’t there! French fries in a burrito!!! Come on! If you’re going for funky fusion just admit it. In truth i knew that i was in for a letdown when i was asked what kind of sauce i wanted in my burrito. That’s not an option at any burrito stand in San Diego! And while you’re at it, admit that all those fries are FILLER! There was MAYBE2 oz of meat in a 16 oz burrito. I can get that kind of belly plug at Taco Time for cheaper and with more traditional filler, beans. If i want the best carne asada burritos on the planet, i still have to wait for my annual trip to San Diego. Just handmade, almost transparent tortillas and a mass of steak mixed with guacamole. All salsa is on the side. Elegantly simple but apparently too simple for this imposter. Ahhhhhhhh! I’m booking my flight to So Cal right now. Meet me at Alibertos! If you’ve been to San Diego you know where they are. In the same places and frequencies as coffee huts in Seattle.

Damn. I realy wanted to like this place. So Cal vibe. Nice owner. Surfing vids on TV. But boring burritos.(not a review on their tacos, did not try them) There was nothing there. I’m sorry. These babies need a kick! The sauce in the burrito and the 3 sauces on the counter, like a fellow Unilocaler mentioned, were all watered down. Even the habenero had no bite. Both my wife and I didn’t finish it. Because we didn’t want to. There were 3 issues we had with it. The steak seems to have been precooked, and had the texture of having been slow cooked. There was no char which would have helped a ton giving it more of a grill flavor. The«home made fries» made us excited to try, but they were too soft, making them blend in with all other ingredents instead of standing out. When I take a bite, I want to notice, yep that’s a french fry. But I couldn’t. It was just soft potatoes, like breakfast homefries. And then 3rd is the hot sauce. Need to be kicked up 10 notches. Make a 4th one super hot and challenge people to try it. Set yourself apart a bit. I want to see the place succeed from one Californian to another. Just needs some construcrive criticism implemented. And my best advice would be to create your own California Burrito that you know is kickass, and serve that to me. Don’t let me choose what to put in the burrito because I will mess it up every time. Every place I’ve been to that allows me to «create my own» has been a dissappointment. I don’t know what should taste good together so you tell me. Experiment and come up with something amazing that everyone needs to try.

I had to try this. I’m from SF and had never heard of a California burrito. My friends who had gone to college in San Diego confirmed that it is indeed unique to SoCal. We ordered one carne asada California burrito and two fish tacos. Both were with green sauce. We ate the fish tacos first and while there was a lot of filling, I agree with the other Unilocalers that they were on the blander side. The burrito, however, was packed with flavor. It had a good amount of meat, cheese, tomatoes, guacamole, and french fries. I don’t normally like beans, but I think I sorta missed the rice, but this was a good change. I was super full after eating just half a burrito and one fish taco. I’m definitely coming back for their burritos. And, free refills on drinks!

Fast, cheap, and simple. Menu is focused, which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. I will be generous today and give them a four star because they do what they do well. But don’t expect too much variety or choice on this menu. These are southern California style burritos. Again, depending on your perspective this can be good or bad. It’s good because things like guacamole aren’t considered extras as they would be elsewhere. And they don’t fill your burrito up with rice. No rice in your burrito! Big, big plus. And of course they have the classic southern California french fry burritos(not my thing but I know lots of people love this). That said, there aren’t any beans here either. I almost docked them a star. I used to live in San Diego and not having beans on the menu is not a California thing. Well at least not when I lived there five-six years ago. How can you not have a bean burrito on your menu? They do have veggie friendly substitutes and the tofu is not just tofu, but bits of tofu sauteed in Mexican spices. A nice touch. The all veggie burrito is full of nicely grilled vegetables, fajita style. Finally a place that knows how to make a proper vegetarian burrito. These are very rare up here. The burritos are good-sized and well-priced. We will definitely be back. Aside from the bean situation, I really wish they had grilled fish tacos/burritos available and not just the typical fried variety.

I was sad to see Mikie’s close, but relieved to see that another local shop popped up in its place. Went for weekday lunch date and we tried the street tacos and California burrito. Their burritos have no rice/beans, and you can get them with french fries instead. If you are the kind of person who puts potato chips in your sandwich or fries on your hamburger, you will probably appreciate this variation. I stuck with the straightforward street tacos, which have super generous portions of fillings. In fact, the fillings were overflowing, forcing me to pick away at it before attempting to eat the taco with some degree of civility. Not a bad problem to have. Carne asada was dry, but the carnitas and fish were excellent. The carnitas actually had nice big chunks of pork, and the fish was crisp and went really well with the creamy green sauce. I discovered the bottles of house sauces about midway through, and they were a good addition. Happy to see another local restaurant doing well in this space!

Super good! Just made our first visit to S Diegos. Had the carne asada burrito with fries in it. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the addition of fries made it the perfect meal. We also ordered a steak street taco — simplicity at its finest. Décor is simple and clean, service was quick and friendly. Can’t wait to make a repeat visit — quite simply delicious! Come with a hearty appetite, I only had half of a burrito and I’m stuffed!

Having grown up in San Diego, I gave up on authentically-tasty Mexican food here in Seattle. Don’t get me wrong, there are places with good Mexican food here, but they just lack a certain something from Mexican food you can get back home. I’d just accepted that I had to lower my expectations slightly so I wouldn’t be disappointed. NIXEVERYTHING I JUSTWROTE. With the first bite of my California burrito, I was transplanted back to San Diego. The carne asada was perfectly cooked, the fries added a robust potato flavor, and freshly-made guac came INCLUDED(always a good thing). Paired with a refreshing cup of horchata, it was pure bliss. I chatted with one of the owners, who was behind the counter prepping all the food, and he said he grew up in SoCal(the Valley), so he’s got firsthand experience as to what a California burrito should taste like. We got street tacos with carnitas, steak & pork, for the kids and the meat was all perfectly-prepared, flavorful and tender. We’ve already told as many people as we can about S. Diego’s and their reviews have all been glowing. The lunch rush hit just after we ordered and the place stayed busy the entire time we were there. Go before word gets out and you have to wait in a long line to get your grub!

You’ve gotta come check this place out. My first time to S. Diego’s, but the Carne Asada California Burrito came highly recommended by some friends who had moved up from San Diego. We came for an early dinner(around 4:30−5), so the place was pretty quiet when we went. But the food did not disappoint. Wrapped up with cheese, house fries, house made guac, and your choice of house salsa, each bite was better than the last! The Carne Asada came out medium well, but it wasn’t too dry or tough. The burritos came out hot(as in, take a bite and you can see the steam coming out from the contents), and didn’t take long at all. It’s a hole in the wall place right now, but they’ve got their own lot so parking isn’t too bad. Topping off our first visit was an outstanding customer service experience. It’s going to start out sounding not that great, but it ends on a high note. My wife doesn’t like tomatoes, so she ordered her burrito(Pollo California burrito, no salsa and no guac) without tomatoes. Unfortunately the burrito she got still had the salsa in it. She’s used to it, so she just started picking the tomatoes out of her burrito. This is where the place wins. One of the cooks noticed what she was doing and came over to inquire about it. Not only did he apologize, but he made a fresh Carne Asada burrito right away, no charge, exactly as she wanted it. At the end of the day, went home with one extra burrito for later. All-in-all, a great first experience! Come down and try it for yourself!

Can’t get enough of this place! Burritos are fantastic: hot, flavorful, fresh, satisfying. I love the tortillas they use. I wish I knew where to get those tortillas because store bought tortillas are garbage. I’ve tried four burritos so far: pollo, carnitas, carne Asada and fish. Carne Asada one is my current favorite. Fish in the fish burrito is fresh and perfectly cooked. We gave their burrito sauces a shot today as well and they are pretty spectacular. The red medium spicy sauce seemed the most flavorful to me but I’d be happy to eat all of them. This place also makes me so nostalgic for my years in San Diego. Here’s to all who left their heart in SoCal.

If you’re looking for authentic Southern California style burritos this is your place. Moved to Seattle a few years ago from SoCal and have been missing my french-fry-laden burritos. The Carne Asade California Burrito with red sauce was amazing. The sauce is spicy/creamy, the guac is not a purée, french fries were definitely not greasy, and the meat is juicy. Kids got a carnitas quesadilla which was surprisingly tasty for just being meat/cheese and came with chips and an orange. Horchata was not overly sweet. The place is clean, kid-friendly, and conveniently located on Redmond Way. Also has a nice selection of sodas. The feel is very SoCal right down to the surf competition on the TVs. The only thing missing is the hot pickled carrots. Definitely going to come back.
