This place has some decent charm and the potential to be great. As of the time I write this review, they’ve been open for about 8 months. Sadly, the bookstore side has gone out of business. Summary: food 3⁄5 service 3⁄5 price: $ 13 – 18 per person Other reviews have complained about the service and I experienced none of those problems. Keep in mind this is a relatively new business and there will always be growing pains as they mature. Service could be a bit more attentive. The Benedict d’cork was spot on at $ 8. The eggs were fine but the yolks were just a tad over cooked. The Irish soda bread they used seemed a little dry/stale but was hardly a problem with runny poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I think it was a good dish and a great value. 4.5÷5 stars I also tried the cork’er baked cheese. It’s basically an open faced grilled cheese sandwich. Too much cheese I think or needs a thicker piece of bread. Too rich the way it is with the cheese and bacon jam. For $ 5 was a good deal. I should shared it with someone, but that bacon jam kept asking to be eaten. 3⁄5 stars. Beer $ 6 local craft beer. Total tab: $ 17.50(with a 10% discount) + $ 4 tip = $ 21.50 Fullness: stuffed Satisfaction: 7⁄10

Bacon jam!!! ;) Came in here for brunch after bookmarking this place for a while now, nothing but good things about this place so I knew I had to try and it was a pretty good experience :) First the parking is spacious; I always appreciate a private lot. Second it wasn’t crowded at all for brunch hour so that was nice. Third the ambiance was nice, not loud, great decoration and clean! And of course the food itself was tasty. Everything I had had was well seasoned and simple, nothing fancy, just some good solid eats, which is nice for the first meal of the day :) the waffle was flavorful and the bacon jam just made everything. The Irish nachos I really enjoyed because of the texture, it wasn’t crispy like a chip but wasn’t too soft like a wedge, I really enjoyed it with the bacon jam of course: p Overall, It was an enjoyable experience, good food, pretty good service, a bit slow, but you could see they really cared for their customers, and of course bacon jam :) I’ll be back! Happy eats, loves! ^_^

It saddens me that an Irish place doesn’t do potatoes well. First time we had the: (1) $ 8 Benedict d’cork which was a nice twist on eggs Benedict. Pleasantly surprised (2) $ 7 American Breakfast — the toast was wonder bread :/the home fries were some freezer burned medley with bell peppers that was burned and frozen all at once. (3) $ 4 waffle with bacon jam. It was ok. I guess the cost is in the bacon jam which is chopped up bacon with maybe lard as the binder? (4) $ 3 americano — undrinkable (5) $ 3 fresh squeezed orange juice — pleasant surprise with blood orange added! Second trip today: (1) $ 7BLT Jam — wonder bread again. The white stalk parts of the lettuce :(flavorless tomatoes, more bacon and jam. They know how to do bacon which is why I keep coming back (2) $ 7 pastrami — I liked it. Not too greasy. They make«house baked Kennebec potato chips» — I did not like them. They were stale. The oil or oven wasn’t hot enough when they were cooked so they were greasy without a nice crunch. (3) $ 3 fresh squeezed OJ — with blood orange again (4) $ 7 they have Guinness on tap! Yay! We ordered«lunch» at 9 with no problem. But a couple tried the same thing at 10 and were told to wait until 11. So I’m not sure what their policies are. I’ll keep trying because I like the bacon. Maybe I’ll try the stuffed waffle next time

There’s no place like this in North Redondo. Tasty, locally sourced food, fresh juice, great coffee in a modern Irish pub looking restaurant. You can find something similar in Culver City, but you’ll pay double the price and get triple the attitude from a skinny jean wearing hipster who thinks he’s too cool for you. The breakfast burrito with sausage was delicious. Chunks of juicy sausage, cheese, home fries, fresh eggs, with a side of vinegary slaw that cut through the heaviness nicely. The coffee was great, and gave me my requisite caffeine high. My wife tried the Eggs Benedict and she said it was as good as the best she’s ever had. At first she was surprised that the corned beef was cold, but nevertheless, she loved it. After reading reviews, I was worried service would be bad, but it was fantastic and made me want to keep coming back. I was there the morning of 5/21, and the young lady working was really sweet and she made sure to keep checking on every patron. My wife was there on the morning of 5⁄20 with a group of her girlfriends and they had great service as well. They have decided to keep meeting up there because they had such a good experience. They have 2 large tv’s, a clean bathroom, and a bookcase with coloring books, crayons, and board games. Just a really cool place to hang out and enjoy good food.

I was very excited to try this place, since I lived close and have been to Mysterious Galaxy plenty of times in the past when they still had Catalina Coffee. But I’m sad to say that I was disappointed. We walked in, not really sure what to expect. We went up to the counter, thinking that’s where we’d order… but instead we were asked to be seated if we were dining in. So we did. I noticed that the décor is really nice and very different. No more couches, just wooden benches and tables… so unique. We then ordered our drinks, and then she came back with a tray of our coffee. The coffee tasted funny. So I put some milk/creamer and then Splenda, and it didn’t do the trick. So we had display menus to pick our food, and we ordered waffles a la carte(with bacon jam) and breakfast burrito. They didn’t give us our utentils, until after we got our food lol. And the servers don’t seem enthusiastic to serve either, so it felt awkward. But anyway, I was very excited to try the bacon jam, since I love me some bacon ;) lol and other Unilocalers seemed to like it. But it just wasn’t for me. You get a little bit of smokiness from the bacon, and a little bit of sweetness too. It was slightly spreadable, but the bacon bits were too big. And the waffles were cold. Sigh. The breakfast burrito, according to the other person with me, was alright. This place has a lootttt of potential. And I might have tried the wrong items on the menu, but for now… three stars.

Has potential… just not there yet. Ambiance is pretty cool, the surfer dude working tonight did a good job. The food is what disappointed. What we ordered. . — bangers and mash, was the best thing. Really good. –Sheppard pie, was very dry and bland. The carrotsand peas were RAW, like added as an after thought befpre the mash was put on top. There was no sauce like a typical sheppard pie would have, was incredibly dry. –corn beef and cabbage, same vegitable issue peas and carrots were raw and the corn beef was dry and flaky, not good. –stuffed waffle, waffle tasted like it was made yesterday morning and served cold. Just eh, not worth $ 10 –plain waffle with bacon jam, first time out was cold second was better. Bacon jam was tasty. In the end it it just fell short. The server mentioned they are working on a new menu. I really hope the head chef or owners check Unilocal and take notice of the feedback. You got a cool location, and could have an awesome irish menu if executed right. Id give ya anoyher another shot if I hear back that the feedback is acknowledged.

I’m super surprised by the high ratings on Unilocal for this place. I headed out to this place, expecting a delicious breakfast, but I was oh so disappointed. The food is super mediocre. I think that had I stayed in and whipped up something at home, it would’ve tasted better. The only saving grace was the bacon jam, which wasn’t great(a bit too salty), but had enough flavor to keep me from throwing a fit that morning. The coffee was also super meh. I got a latte, and it was way too wet. Meh. I don’t recommend this place. Not sure what the high reviews are about…

This review is for their cookies. My husband had a hankering for a cookie, so we decided to swing by the Cork’er. Walked in, and absolutely loved the atmosphere. I asked for the cookies, and there was a display of small snickerdoodle and molasses cookies. Great, one of each. Despite their size, the cookies were $ 1 each. A little steep, but I figured they may taste heavenly that that price. Hard. As. Rocks. My husband thought the molasses cookie was hard because, well, it was molasses. But the snickerdoodle was even harder. Two small, expensive, stale cookies. Bummer. I did get a chance to take a look at their menu, so I hoping our next visit warrants a better eating experience.

Ordered the waffle with bacon jam and cup of Americano. The bacon jam is more like extra small bacon bits that are slightly more spreadable. While the waffle batter is tasty, the waffle itself was a tad bit too hard. While on the watery side, the Americano here is admittedly better than what I’ve had at most cafes in the South Bay. Pros: quiet, tables are long Cons: not the most welcoming vibe Would I return?: Only if I’m in the area. I’ll give the soda bread a go next time.

Excellent service and beer selection. Guinness, of course, as well as some really good local IPAs. I had the shepherds pie(lamb) and the meat was shredded vice ground which makes for a leaner dish. The mashed potatoes were creamy rich and the peas and carrots cooked perfectly. I thought the lamb tasted like beef(and appeared so as well since I’m used to ground lamb in this dish) so the chef was gracious enough to let me sample the beef. I highly recommend the beef! Try the Cottage Pie! The portions are not huge but who cares? The flavors and richness surely make up for that! Also, the restaurant shares a space with an independent bookstore. Check that place out too. A great combination of breakfast, caffeine, great food and intellectual goodies!!!

I have not eaten here, but I will say the mocha I ordered was good, and the thumbprint cookie was mind-blowing. They use almond instead of peanut butter, and it was rich, moist, and chewy, with some jam in the middle. I would come every day just for the cookies. I am only giving it 4 stars due the fact I only ate a cookie. If you are into places that source everything local, this is your jam. From the food, to art, even your seats are all sourced locally. Local artists, farms, all that jazz. You forget that you are in a eatery in front of a bookstore. Cool vibe, can’t wait to to go back and try their food and beer. it looks like a great list.

I only go here for their cashew nut cookies… and let me tell you, it is the best cookies I’ve ever had. The staff are really nice! I came in twice for the cookies and they offered to bake it. So a couple of minutes later, voila, fresh cashew nut cookies. While it was a pain to go twice in one day to get the cookies… delayed gratification is the fabric of what makes our nation… so it was worth it ;p plus, i can’t beat the fresh cookies. thank you!

Great food, drinks, and people for a decent price. They have a wide array of local craft beers always available. Fresh fruit is used for all the drinks. Come for breakfast or dinner, you won’t leave disappointed. Also, bacon jam. Yes.

Amazing selection of delicious local craft beer, the coolest guy you’ll ever meet behind the counter, and food that tastes like an Irish pot o’ gold! This place will rock your socks off. Came for lunch and got the spicy pulled pork sandwich and the cider brined chicken sandwiches. Already planning to come back for dinner to get the shepherd’s pie. This is a quaint little place attached to a bookstore, but feels like a family kitchen… Large wooden tables, awesome art for sale, delicious baked goodies. I love local places like this! Bring the family, your work friends for lunch or buddies for dinner and drinks then walk to the mall for shopping or a movie.

Just had a drip coffee, but it had a smooth finish and great flavor. Pleasant atmosphere, nicely designed interior, hipster-friendly ;) free wifi(not sure if there are any outlets to charge). Great place for a small business meeting or to grab a bite with a friend. I’ll def be back. It’s neat that a bookstore is attached. This business model is what Barnes & Noble would be doing if it was smart.

If leprechauns needed to have the best made to order coffee, then this place would be it. It’s a lovely little café within a bookstore, with a pinch of Irish. I ordered a Latte, with a order of home made pumpkin bread and might I say… it really hit the spot! super delicious in fact! They also have a wonderful selection of brews on tap, for those seeking a tasty alcoholic beverage. If you’re hungry, they have a fine selection of Irish dishes fit to fill your belly, and really make ya feel like you’re back in Dublin! Aye! Tis a fine place, and if you appreciate good Irish food, then this should be your next destination! Plus there’s a lovely book store to browse after the epic meal!

Serving bricfeasta, lon, dinnear as well as coffee drinks and beer and wine, this is a unique place to grab a bite or drink in the south bay. I had the opportunity to visit here when I met with a client for a morning meeting. It’s a fairly big space with wooden chairs, tables and booths. The theme is Irish as Cork’er is a nickname the owner’s dad had given him when he was growing up. Sticking with their Irish roots and the County Cork in Ireland, they serve up some authentic plates such as Bangers and Mash as well as a really special eggs benedict called Benedict D’Cork which is made using homemade Irish soda bread, with corned beef, poached egg and a hollandaise sauce that is really tasty! I really enjoyed the combination of flavors in this breakfast plate! The cappuccino was decent as it tasted slightly light for my taste but still good enough to drink to wash down the tasty breakfast! The owner also gave us a complimentary side of toast along with his original bacon jam which was really interesting and quite good. Spread the bacon jam over the toast, this was a nice appetizer to whet the pallete and leave you begging to try more things from their menu. They’ve only been open since December 16 but I can see that with all the original offerings as well as the fact they serve beer and wine, this place is going to be a mainstay in the southbay. They have free wifi and there is ample free parking in their huge lot out front. So if you’re in the mood to try something unique and tasty, head over to Cork’er and say hello to Larry the owner and enjoy some delicious Irish-inspired cuisine!

Hands down this is a Great Place. The staff is very nice and efficient. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. In terms of the food it is fun, Irish influenced, California fusion. The dishes have a really unique flavor as the chef takes the time to add interesting ingredients. Plus, not only do they have coffee and espresso based drinks but they also have alcohol: Beer and Wine. This is a fun place. Highly Recommended !!!

Very clever name. Cork’er means so many things appropriate to being the type of eatery that this is, plus it’s in a bookstore! The spicy pulled pork sandwich was excellent. The pork was quite spicy but also full of other flavors. The brioche was soft and a little chewy. The reuben sandwich was also good, but not nearly as good as the pulled pork because it wasn’t a hot sandwich. The rye bread was good but the ratio of too much bread to meat was not to my liking. Thinner bread or more meat would be great.
