I could have sworn I’ve already written a review for this place… But Unilocal swears I didn’t. El Burrito Jr. known to the locals as «LBJ’s» is a South Bay Mexican food staple. Ask anyone who grew up in Redondo and they will probably say they’ve been there quite a few times. As a child, my dad would get us lunch here and we would walk down to the beach and eat it. There is seriously not much that is better than that. There is a ton of parking in the lot, and you can also park right in front. It’s harder to get out of your car though because PCH drivers are often busier screaming«woo!» At this establishment as they pass it than they are worrying about you getting out of your car in a timely manner. They have a few specials that are lettered and the most famous one is the Special C. This is two bean and cheese burritos and a drink for $ 5.75. It’s almost free. They also have a Beach Basket which is great for a family or group to take with them down to the water, just watch out for seagulls. The bean and cheese burritos are ordered so often, they are pre-made and put in a warmer. I can guarantee that they haven’t been there long, but if that gives you the heebies, ask for them to add lettuce or something to it. They will made those to order. I just get the pre-made ones and I’m still alive. The chips are whole corn tortillas and are delicious. Their salsa is hot. They almost always give me Dr. Pepper instead of Raspberry Iced Tea… But they get a pass because they make delicious food. This is a hole in the wall and it’s also the original location. You MUST try it if you are in the area… I mean, obviously you’re thinking about it if you are reading this. You might even already be in the parking lot wondering if you should get a burger or A burrito. Get the burrito. Get the burrito. And extra chips. You won’t regret it.

Best Mexican food in the South Bay, especially for a casual food stand walk up window type place(which are often the best Mexican places for food, let’s face it). The line out front tells you something — this place rocks. I have eaten everything from fish tacos to burritos here, and love it all. The wet burrito will keep everyone coming back. I am getting hungry right now just thinking about it.

This place has great authentic Mexican food. Carne Asada Burrito is my number one but they have many many more. I have to try some other stuff from the menu soon. The only reason why I don´t give 5 stars here is because you have to wait quite a while. Sometimes 10 minutes to order and another 10 minutes to get the food.

What’s the first thing I go for when I fly back to Cali? Tacos at a divey hole in the wall. Being originally from San Diego I was not familiar with the South Bay LA area so I quickly jumped on Unilocal and found El BJ’s as the locals call it. Man did it hit the spot! I got to Carnitas tacos and 2 Carne Asada tacos. The wifey got a California burrito. We also shared a half and half side of beans and rice. It was all so good I almost cried! The only reason I went with 4 stars is they don’t serve alcohol, which I wouldn’t expect them to so we brought a 6 pack along to wash down the grub!

I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager, and the food is STILL is amazing and affordable as it ever was. I can’t recommend every location of EBJ highly enough. Go here right now!

El Burrito Jr has been around for quite some time now. When I was in school, my friends and I used to go there all the time and get their hefty combo meals, but going back recently, it seems like they’ve just lowered their quality and standards. As a result, their food and service has been a bit lackluster. It’s a big taco stand off of PCH, so you can’t really miss it. You place and pay for your order and are handed a piece of paper where your order has been hand written and wait. You can take your food to go or sit and eat at one of the picnic tables available. They do have delicious complimentary salsa and chips, but as a long time customer who loves what they’re all about, I would like to see them improve and do better.

Just got super sick from their food. Ground beef tacos. Not sure what the problem was Feb 6,2016. Hopefully they get it worked out because their food usually rocks.

CASHONLY!!! Hole in the wall Mex Food. Probably the best authentic Mexican food I’ve had out here in South Bay — LA. The guy taking the order is friendly, food is delicious, salsa is bomb. Carnitas burrito — WIN Chile Verde Chicken — Delicious California Burrito — Descent Chicken Enchiladas with Red Sauce — My mom loved them even when she had a cold, said that were really good and even put the salsa on top to give it an extra kick

YESSSS some of the best Mexican food in the South Bay I swear. CASHONLYPEOPLE. Special C is the classic but all of their food is good. You can’t go wrong here. Usually people just take it to go, but there are a few tables outside where you can sit :) usually busy so call in your order ahead of time! I’ve been here sooo many times and they’ve never gotten an order wrong or left something out. Yum yum yum yum yum. I want some right now lol

If you are already in Redondo Beach this is a fine place to get Mexican food. I ordered the deluxe carne asada burrito that receives rave reviews on Unilocal and it was a fine lunch. However the carne asada was not remarkable. I almost thought they had mistakenly put in ground beef as the strips of carne asada are chopped up quite a bit and don’t have the seared char flavor flavor I was expecting. The place wins on fun atmosphere and is popular and busy but not too long of a wait for food.

El Burrito Jr. has become my go to for great Mexican food in the South Bay. I’ve become a fan this hole in a wall’s burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. What I also like about it is that the service is fairly quick and the food is made fresh to order. Depending on the time of the day, you may run into a line of people. But for the most part you the wait is quite short. You also have the option of calling in your order ahead of time. The side order of chips with the guacamole and chips may be a bit pricey for what it is, but they give you a good amount. In actuality, I find all their portions to be quite generous. The burritos are already pretty sizable, and if you ask it to be a wet burrito, you’ve got quite a meal. The only issues I’ve only experienced when choosing to dine here is that this place is cash only. If you forget, they have an ATM machine in which you can, with a small fee, withdraw some cash. Secondly, sometimes calling your order over by phone can be challenging… so speak clearly as the guy taking your order is just a couple feet away from the hot and busy kitchen.

El Burrito Jr aka LBJ’s! Hole in the wall stand serving up some super tasty Mexican food! I gotta eat here at least once anytime I’m visiting the Southbay. Lines can get long and the bathroom can be sketch but what do you expect?! Is it the BEST ever? NOPE But it ALWAYS hit the spot. Portions are large and prices are super reasonable. Every order comes with the huge oversized chips and salsa too. Wet Carne Asada burrito please! I’ll ALWAYS be back. PS — Cash Only!

I have zero idea why I just found this spot. I lived around here for 15 years and one day my(obviously smarter) daughter says let’s try EBJ. Huh? Ok, so we go. OMG!!! I have the lunch special and my world has been rocked. The carnitas taco was huge, crunchy and perfect. Chips are solid and salsa is fresh. Beans and rice are very good as is everything else I’ve tried in the 12 times I was here this summer. The line is legit. It’s just that good. Next time I’m getting the box to bring home. Load up the car honey, it’s EBJ time again!

I’m an average joe now living in Sacramento. Why then am I taking time to write about a little burrito shop more than 300 miles away that from the outside looks like a Mexican Weinerschnitzel? Because LBJ’s is more than just food, it’s an experience – it’s about as indigenous to Redondo Beach as its sand and waves. It’s basically the best non-kept secret among locals. Hit me up with a greasy Special C with those oversized tortilla chips and a Coke, just like in high school after my buddies and I worked up an appetite after a long day of beach bumming at Rat Beach. Absolute heaven. Yes, the line can stretch down the sidewalk packed with your flipflop-wearing locals and day laborers. And yes, they only accept cash. But if you grew up here and have any sentimental stake to the South Bay, that doesn’t matter. LBJs is that hole-in-the-wall on PCH that in every way screams Redondo. For me, it’s a reminder of home. *wink wink nudge nudge* Telephone your order so you can pick it up in advance.

El Burrito Jr is FANTASTIC. This is the place to go if you’re looking for delicious greasy Mexican food. Just about everything on the menu is delicious, you can’t go wrong. I love the California Burrito’s. Every order comes with large crispy chips and sweet/spicy salsa. They have several other options though and are also delicious for breakfast, my suggestion is the Chorizo Egg burrito. If you want to save some time, or a lot of time on busy hours, you should call ahead. Also, remember, it’s Cash Only, but there’s an ATM right next to it. My fiancé thinks I want to Redondo so I can hang out on the beach more often. Nah, I’m just hungry!

I want to give this 1 ½ stars simply because waiting for 30 minutes at a takeout place is CRAZY. It’s Ridiculous. It’s not OK. My sister and her family had suggested this place before we hit the road for our ride back to Phoenix for breakfast on the go. Their hotel suggested it as fast and good. They were right on the good part. I had the eggs with bacon and toast, with hash brown. .Word. It was so good. Toast was perfect, eggs just right, bacon just right and hash browns were devine. Our group had a variety of pancakes, burritos and egg plates. All very good. Even the coffee was decent. The cash only part? Lousy. It’s 2015. Get with it. HOWEVER…standing there, for 30 minutes… WASNOTCOOL. I’m thinking maybe this was a 1 time thing. Maybe they aren’t slow all the time. Maybe a cook or 2 called out to hang out at the beach. There were maybe 6 people there. It got ugly. It got loud. People demanded their money back. One dude just walked away. Maybe they were short staffed? We had waited soooo long, that going somewhere else at that point seemed crazy. We were already waiting. might as well just keep on waiting. No apology. no freebie thrown in. At least poke your head out and give out some coffee(Geez guys)…no explanation.

I was in the mood for Mexican food tonight, so my bf and I went to LBJ for some takeout. I ordered the mini taco special, which comes with 4 small tacos(you can choose among carne asada, carnitas, or beef tongue. I got 2 carne asada, 2 carnitas) and a drink(I chose the Orange Bang), all for $ 6.25. Bf ordered carnitas special deluxe wet burrito. This place is super casual. Seating is all outside and the restaurant itself is just a little stand(you order outside). The wait was not too bad, but not super fast… about 15 min. Overall, this place was pretty good but not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. For the price and generous portions, it is well worth it and I would come back again. The Orange Bang was so yummy! It tastes like orange creamsicle, in drink form. It’s nice that the mini tacos came with a drink. The tacos were good too, but the carnitas were a bit dry/tough to eat. I think I prefer the carne asada, but I didn’t mind the variety since I had 4 tacos to choose. This place is a solid 4 stars.

This one is a walk up. You get your food quickly. The food is tasty too. I recommend this place if you want to pick some fresh food up to take home or to have as a picnic at the park or beach. P. S. They give you lots of whole tortilla chips and I like their salsa too.
