Johnny Rockets

Went last night after seeing The Peanuts Movie sat ourselves had to ask for the table to be cleared. Sat 15 minutes nobody took our order so we walked out & went to Red Robin. There was another family that walked out too and also was at Red Robin. Come on you are across from the theater hire more people !!! ZERO STARS!!!

I came here because I purchased a Groupon. The service was good the food was okay, disappointed in the burger, tasted bland, the shake was good. I prefer Rubys any day.

Bad location to eat at. First of all when I arrived I wasn’t offer no type of help. It took the cashier 15 minutes to come place my order. Once I ordered my food the cashier told me it was going to be a 15 minute wait. I ended up waiting 30 minutes for my food to get here. Really bad service. They are also very low on staff. 4 workers were trying to run the restaurant that had 30+ customers. Bad management. I will never return to this horrible location.

I thought this place was fine. The food was what I remembered, since I used to frequent Johnny Rockets years ago. I did notice they have phillycheesesteaks now, I was tempted to try it but ordered a Rocket Single and the BF ordered a #12. These orders look basically the same on the menu, the only difference is the sauces. Both burgers were good. I especially liked the bun, which was big and fluffy. I wished I had asked for grilled onions, not sure if they do this here though, but it never hurts to ask. We also got an order of chilli cheese fries that we enjoyed, but got kinda turned off halfway when we saw all the grease and decided to stop eating it.
I liked the food here, service was fine, and it was awesome having a groupon, but I’d still rather go to In and Out any day.
FYI, if you buy a sandwich and drink here, you can purchase your movie tickets for just $ 8. The movie theater is right across from this place so it would be a nice, affordable dinner and date option if you’re in the area.

The service is crappy and the burger didn’t taste any better then what you can get at a fast food place.

Stopped by with my 4 ½-​year-​old daughter to kill a little bit of time before the movie, the men’s bathroom was disgusting and the women’s bathroom was clogged up. I always remember Johnny Rockets as being a fun place to go when I was younger with really cool music playing on the jukebox, however the food was really below average, we asked for money back and went to Red Robin downstairs and had a pleasant meal before the movie. I will NEVER go back to this particular Johnny Rockets however I may try the one in Torrance by the AMC theaters I had a pleasant experience there last year.

The Redondo Beach Galleria location is not even worthy of 1 Star. The food and service was horrible. Don’t bother purchasing the Groupon its a waste of money and your time. I would never go back even if they offered me free meal…

Stopped here for a quick bite before our movie. Food came out in a timely manner but it was just bland. Women’s restroom was clogged up which I found to be very disgusting. I mean if you can’t even maintain restroom can only imagine what everything else is like. Our food was mediocre, paid and left. I won’t return here again.

The staff ignored us the entire 20+ mins we were sitting down. All 3 waiters/​waitress just attended to everyone else. I guess you shouldn’t sit at the large table

This is quite a small location. I was surprised with a major change here: Johnny Rockets used to serve their meals with unlimited fries. Now they make you pay EXTRA for a tiny side of fries along with the sandwich you buy. And the fries are NOT UNLIMITED anymore either. Also, I noticed that the patty melt I ordered was TINY (that is my usual order at Johnny Rockets) — I don’t know if that is the corporate headquarters or this location trying to save money… But altogether this left a bad aftertaste; I did not feel like getting my money’s worth here. Still love the diner style, color theme and table jukeboxes though! And their shakes are great.

Five stars for the great music that is always playing in the background. Really has a wonderful vibe. Really nice atmosphere.
Five stars for the incredible food. As a culinary student I know my food. The meat is cooked just the way you ask for it. The fries are wonderful especially with some salt and ketchup that you add yourself so you know how much of what you want. The best hamburgers ever!
Five stars for the hardworking employees that really do pay attention to everyone that is dining there. The workers are all so friendly and provide great service.
Five stars for those shakes! Handmade and delicious you can’t get shakes like that anywhere else and you won’t have an experience like one at Johnny rockets any other place. Red robins, chilis, tgif, none compare.

Service is what killed my visit.
My sister, niece and I stopped by for a quick bite before catching a movie at the AMC across the way from the restaurant. We sat in the «outside» part of the restaurant.
We all ordered and a server never really came back. We had to flag him down anytime we needed something.
I got a patty melt and a salad. The salad was just iceberg lettuce, a cherry tomato and some shredded cheese. I shouldn’t have expected anything grand. The patty melt needed a little salt in the meat, but it was cooked perfectly, so that is a plus.
My sister and niece shared a sandwich and onion rings and a shake.
Never my first choice, but I will stop by again, if desperate. Shake was mighty tasty. Onion rings weren’t bad.
We had a coupon, which made things slightly more tolerable.

2 RAW burgers when I asked for well-​done other then that the good was good

I liked that this is right across from the AMC theater, giving you a choice vs. the theater «food» or the «food court». We had to rush our lunch, but it was not a problem: I ordered the veggie burger, which came out just perfectly. The fries, which I tried a few of, were hot and done just right. Actually, the veggie burger («Streamliner») was way more than I could eat, along with a huge iced tea, not bottled. (It’s cute how the catsup comes in a smiley-​face shape inside the paper bowl. Of course, you can add to the bowl from the catsup bottle on the table…)
Others had a chicken breast sandwich which they liked, and a crispy green salad. The staff could have communicated with us better, as we weren’t sure we were going to get our food in time to eat it. We did, but we could have relaxed more if we’d have known for sure. Also, if they’d have picked up our money sooner, we could have enjoyed the remainder of our time there, knowing we were fully ready to go. (These seem like OUR problems in retrospect, not J.R.‘s!)
Also, the free parking in the mall (Level 4) outside the AMC is very convenient to this little place. It was the only J. R.‘s I’d tried, and I’d definitely go back. Next time, I’ll save up my appetite for the fries and maybe a shake! I’ll say it again: Organic would be a good statement for a chain like this one. I think they can afford it.

Love it, chili fries are delish, service a little bit slow but wait staff is nice.

One star for being accommodating when it came to my living social deal.
Food: Blah. $ 9 for a small burger and 10 fries.
Price: $ 9-​$ 12
Ambiance: So small. I prefer to location at del amo better. Much bigger and more casual and fun.
Parking: Theres mall parking.

Expensive because you have to buy everything on the menu seperately, however, they just started their 5 meals for $ 5 which includes a side of fries. You can also add an AMC movie ticket to your order for $ 7.50, so that’s a good bargain. Overall, I like Johnny Rockets but I don’t love it.

Three Stars for the food quality. I ordered the hamburger and fries. The hamburger was a bit overcooked and the fries were medium-​cold. Two stars — I agree with Dennis’ review where the hamburger texture resembled cardboard. But, I ordered a chocolate malt with extra malt — 5 stars!
This is a good place to grab a throw-​back hamburger. Fun music always playing.
I want to give this place another try to give them the benefit of the doubt!

If you enjoy overcooked dry cardboard hamburgers, be sure to stop in here!
Such a shame — I love the Johnny Rockets in Encino.
After trying a half dozen times here — I give up.
