This Place Has A Really Cute Authentic Homey Charm To It! I Stopped By After A Rigorous Job Interview Process And It Was The Perfect Place To Get Some Horchata(Served In A SUPER Lovely Glass Cup) And A Yummy Colorful And Nutritiously Rich Omelette In Before My Super Long Drive Back. I’d Get The Vegetarian Omelette Special Without The Cheese Though, It Felt Too Heavy That Day So I Had To Scrape It Off. The Senors Who Work Their Are Pretty Cool, Very Genuine And Funny In A Playful Sitcom Backdrop Way :0)

I stopped in for a quick lunch while getting my car serviced across the street. I walked by and noticed the sign said closed but Unilocal says they open at 10:30, so I called to see if they were open(you never know when restaurants shut down.) No one picked up, but I decided to try anyway and they were in fact open. I ordered a skinny margarita(im on EST time don’t judge me) and that baby was strong. The bartender brought me extra lime and was very attentive, so that’s a plus. To eat, I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. It’s huge and tasty, but the cheese wasn’t melted. My bill was for $ 15.58. Not bad for a cocktail and a burrito!

This place is a joke, I have been here twice and the first time I forgave them for giving me god knows what when I ordered pasole. I got a salad that had lettuce and tomato only. The food is horrible and the service is horrible. Worst in south bay!

The reason small mom and pop places do survive, great fresh food! Yum! Tacos were on point!

Went here quite a while ago. Will never go here again. You have to ask for chips and salsa and they charge you for it. Not like all the other Mexican Restaurants that as soon as you sit down you get it complimentary. The food was okay. Nothing to rave about. I won’t be returning to this place again.

I’ve been going to Lupita’s on and off for years. They changed the menu a year or so back, and increased prices. None of that matters as long as quality remains. Which it does not. We ordered fish tacos tonight and they were horrible. The fish was not fresh but frozen(as it was still cold on the inside when served), flavorless, and to add insult to injury, was buried in sour cream. I am also guessing the fish was frozen as it took a very long time for the food to be served — and the fish tacos came out well after everything else. I live within walking distance of this restaurant, and I am not returning.

If great Mexican food can be judged by their chips and salsa alone, Lupita’s is a hit! Love the mole enchiladas too, and although I haven’t tried the molcajete yet, it’s the only Mexican restaurant that I know of in the South Bay that offers it on the menu. Very casual atmosphere and authentic décor. My only complaint is the side of guacamole was tiny in my to-go order for the price.

This place charges $ 2 for every basket of chips after the first. The food is average Mexican. The prices are a little more expensive then I though they would be, but not too bad. The place looks nice inside and they do have a bar. I didn’t see any happy hour specials or anything.

Great Food BUT… be prepared to WAIT for them to cook your food. If you are in a hurry then don’t come here — even if the place is not full, it takes them time to cook your food. I was there the night before Thanksgiving. The place was crowded. OK, but 10 minutes to have our order taken? After 50 minutes of eating chips & salsa and not getting our food served, we had no choice but to leave due to a prior commitment. BUT, If you want really tasty and fresh Mexican Food and are willing to relax and wait, then please try this place.

I have been coming here for years. The food is so so, but it’s right next to my house. The food is 3 stars but the service is great!

If you want AUTHENTIC Mexican food this is the place! My boyfriend and I went today. We always drive by there but never actually went in to get food. We ordered food to go and it was way better than I expected. After reading some of these bad reviews I was very hesitant. I am glad we came in. This will definitely be our new go to Mexican food spot. It’s very hard to find authentic Mexican food in this area. So glad we found it.

I come for the Molcajete. Taste just like I had in Puerto Vallarta. It’s a bit expensive, but it’s the only place I’ve found that serves it and it serves two.(Disappointed that they no longer accept coupons.)

Guys, the food is fine. Fresh, reliable, decent. But nowhere in the entire world will you find better flan. The flan is legendary. It’s the best flan. If you try this flan and do not like this flan, then you are WRONG. Put your phone down, grab your keys, get in your car, drive to Lupita’s and order their flan. Right. Now. I never post reviews, and I’m posting one about the flan. Four stars JUST for the flan. Forreals.

I used to love this place, but it’s really gone downhill. Yesterday I ordered two burritos to go. $ 11 each, and they were just not good. The Chile Verde was just OK, but it was not«stewed in tangy green sauce» as it says on the menu. It was clearly just pork with green sauce poured on as the burrito was assembled, so there was no «verde» flavor at all in the meat, just in the sauce. The other burrito was terrible. It was Carnitas, and made from the dried up, overcooked carnitas that belongs in the trash can. My girl would not even eat it, she dubbed it «inedible». I ended up going back out to get a burrito from El Burrito JR since she did not eat the carnitas disaster from Lupitas. LBJ’s burrito was delicious, and only $ 6. When I arrived, there were no customers. The guy who took my order and money was the same guy who made the burritos. With terrible quality like this, it’s no wonder why they have no customers anymore. And with no customers, they reduce staff… and with reduced staff, quality declines. Time to hang a «out of business» sign and get it over with.

Purchased several gift certificates in 2011 that never expire. That is, until they refuse to honor them because of some argument they had with . To me, this is exactly the same as selling a gift card and then hanging a sign that you no longer accept gift cards. I paid for the gift certificate, and the money was already received by this establishment, so I feel they should honor it, especially since it is dated and never expires. I have used others here previously with no problems. I was invited to post a negative review by the owner, who told me he really didn’t care, so here it is. Just not good business.

I went to this place about six years ago and wasn’t impressed so I didn’t go back. Finally went again and remembered why I decided to eat at other Mexican places for the past six years. Ambiance is nice but the service was mediocre. My boyfriend and I sat with empty drink glasses for the majority of our meal. I found the tortilla chips to be really greasy and you have to pay $ 2 to get a refill on chips(I’ve never seen this at any other Mexican restaurant before but then again, I’m not sure who would want a second basket of these particular chips anyway). The ground beef on my taco salad was incredibly salty– it overpowered the dish. And really greasy. My boyfriend’s carne asada burrito was pretty good and he liked it, but I’ve had better. The good– parking is free and there is plenty of it. Guacamole was also really good. They serve Coke products and the margaritas(we didn’t try them) were pretty reasonably priced. The portion sizes are also really big. To be fair, perhaps what I ordered just wasn’t a good choice. I think there are a lot better Mexican restaurants in the South Bay that offer better food at better prices.

Lupita’s is an excellent Mexican restaurant in an area not known for great authentic Mexican food. While Lupita’s food is excellent it does not extend much beyond the traditional western palate. I’ve had a number of their dishes including their Barbacoa Plate and Chile Verde Plate; they are all fantastic with tender meats and deep robust seasonings. Since Lupita’s is close to my house, it is my go to place for a quick Mexican meal. Their service is nice and friendly enough. Their parking lot is easy to get in and out of for a place off PCH and has ample parking. Next Time? Crab and Shrimp Enchiladas.

Was sorely disappointed after hearing great things. First and foremost, Mexican food should NOT cost this much! The next big turn off(why didn’t we just go then, I wonder) was the little note underneath the image of chips and salsa… first basket is free, each subsequent basket $ 1.99. Who does that? I really felt gouged and that was before I ate the expensive bland food. Ordered a skinny margarita that was darn near undrinkable. Really, it tasted awful. And I don’t give many 1-star reviews. Why didn’t I send it back? Why didn’t we just stop there? I’ll tell you. Because everything took so long. You wait, and wait, and wait… and then you’re committed. It’s too late to activate a Plan B and still make it to your next event. You’re stuck with the rest of the Gringos. Gasp… what does that say about me? They even have the audacity to say they are #1 on a hand-lettered sign.

I remembered seeing this restaurant on Unilocal a while ago, and since I was in the area I decided to give it a go. It was during lunchtime when I walked in and was told by the waiter to sit wherever. There were only a handful of people there enjoying there lunch, so I sat myself at a table in the middle row of the restaurant. I literally sank through the seat. The chair cushion had no filling in it and the chair itself, was way to short for the table. Now, I would not concider myself a short person, but the top of the table was touching my chin. Ummm, wow… I thought to myself. This is not going to work… So, I moved to a booth that looked like it had a little more padding than the chair. It was better than the table, but only by a few inches. Now, I love mexican food and when visiting a new place it is always the chips and salsa, the first thing that is put on the table that can make an experience great or disappointing. The chips were fresh and the salsa looked good but it was flavorless, which IMO was an indication of what was to come. I ordered the albondigas soup because I love it and have had it many times at other restaurants, however, this version may have changed my mind about ever ordering it again. The soup had a greasy green hue to it that should not have been there. The first spoonful was all grease, which means that the stock was made inhouse, but the fat was not skimmed out. Running my spoon around the rim of the bowl aleaviated the bulk of the grease, but what was uncovered, was a massive amount of oregano floating in the stock. That was the green hue. The meatballs were full of oregano too, rendering the soup inedible. Oregano is a very strong herb that when used sparingly, it can add a beautiful backround flavor to soups and stews. It can easily be overpowering if used in excess, and this was the case here, like 10 times the amount. I also ordered the Lupita combo, which was a lot of food. It comes with 3 items of your choice. I ordered a chicken enchilada, shredded beef taco and chille relleno. The waiter didn’t write it down so he had to come back and ask what I had ordered again. He still didn’t write it down so I wasn’t surprised when my order was wrong. The waiter did not seem very friendly from the time I walked in, and certainly didn’t look like he was in the mood to talk about anything. So I just let it go. I never got my shredded beef taco, instead I got a dry chicken taco and enchilada that was okay with the flavorless salsa. By the time I seasoned the salsa and degreased the soup, I was completely frustrated and it was time to get back to work. I ask for to go boxes and paided the check, leaving the gross green soup behind. I can’t see myself giving this place another try. I should have shimmyed myself right back out the door, the minute I sat down.
