I’ve been going to Phannys for over 12 years now and I’m sorry to say it’s no longer the friendly neighborhood joint I remember. I’m not sure if their recent press has gone to their heads or if they are just overwhelmed by the amount of people coming in but I don’t know if I’ll go back after my last experience. While the food hasn’t changed, the service has. I placed my usual order and upon going to pick up my food, that’s when things started going down hill. The male owner handed me my bag of food and when I realized there was no salsa in the bag, which they used to give, I asked for a salsa per burrito I was purchasing(which I agreed to pay extra for). He became flustered and asked me to ask for it over the phone, instead of in person, next time. I don’t know if it’s just me but I think that’s a ridiculous request. I’m paying extra for somethings that costs you almost nothing. Allow me to make a last minute decision when I’m paying for it. Next, when he showed me the receipt, I noticed I was charged for more than I ordered. I pointed it out and once again he started raising his voice, trying to argue his point. At that point, I think his son or someone in the kitchen stepped in and said to just charge me for what I ordered. If he hadn’t stepped in, I probably would have walked out at that point. I’m all about supporting local businesses but I was very disappointed by this last visit to Phannys. It’s a bummer after all of these years but they aren’t the only restaurant with breakfast burritos in the area so if they want to keep their customers, they should try to improve the customer experience.

This place is a tiny little spot located about two blocks away from the beach. The parking lot has ample parking but it does get packed during the usual meal times. The seating inside is smaller than average so if you come when it’s busy you can’t beat taking your food to the beach. When I went at breakfast I even saw a guy bring his own folding chairs to eat outside on the sidewalk grass area. The service is fast and friendly. I ordered the three meat(sausage, bacon, and ham) breakfast burrito with no salsa. The burrito cost about $ 8 and I added $ 1 to add avocado. Each bite of the burrito was packed with flavor. The salsa would had added a kick but I was afraid the salsa would include cilantro which it did not. Sorry there’s no pictures but the burrito was so good I forgot to take a picture. I will be back so I can try more items on the menu.

Amazing breakfast burritos. And I love the old school, no frills, ambiance. If I wanted faux cool I’d eat in Venice but nothing screams authenticity like décor that is stain proof from the 80s and just really big, delicious breakfast burritos!!!

Found this place randomly. So glad we did. The Stumptown Coffee is excellent and the breakfast burritos were spot on. But the best part was the service — Super Friendly!

Hi Fellow Unilocalsters, My wife and I visited this place today on the recommendation of my barber. He said«do the breakfast burrito». When we arrived, breakfast was over at 10:30 am so that was a no-go. I ordered a fish sandwich and fries along with an iced tea. The good part was the iced tea. The fish sandwich was typical fast food fried and so soggy that it fell apart in my hands. The fries were inconstant. Crispy on one end of the fry and limp and under cooked on the other end. Damn near every fry was like that. My wife had an egg sandwich and she enjoyed it. The servings are SMALL. They charge for a refill on soft drinks. They only take cash and they have an ATM machine. The décor is sparse and oddly matched. I don’t begrudge diners that are struggling but when the diner you own opens at 7AM and closes at 4PMAND you struggle to make fries correctly, I don’t see how this place makes it BUT maybe I need to come in for breakfast.

*The* place to go for a breakfast burrito, as far as I’m concerned!

This place gets packed out in the morning — calling in on your phone to order is the way to go. Great food, and great coffee. They have a unique cold brew coffee they make with hops(non alcoholic) that is BOMB. If you like coffee, or beer, you have to try it at least once. The barista Jamie recommended it to me and was really helpful.

Best breakfast burrito in the South Bay, HANDSDOWN. I lived in the Torrance/Redondo Beach area for over 20 years and am disappointed that I didn’t know about that place earlier. The folks that run this place are very kind and amiable. Getting some cold nitro brew is a must, and don’t remember to ask for some salsa to slather on your burrito, it’s pretty darn good!

Breakfast burritos are quite good. Staff is friendly. But my favorite part is the coffee, they make expertly crafted espresso drinks and they serve Stumptown cold brew. One of the few places to get a real breakfast and great coffee.

Cute little mom and pop shop. Heard about the breakfast burritos so me and my bf shared one and a ham and cheese croissant with egg. The breakfast burrito was okayyyy, would sag it is 3 stars! Ham and cheese croissant with egg was better! I would go again if i was in the area but nothing to drive out to get. Beach is bearby though so you can stroll at Torrance beach afterwards!

Cash only! We didn’t know right away so we had to use the atm which was okay. I ordered a veggie burrito-substituted for egg whites and avocado on the side. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with chile cheese fries $ 22. I liked my burrito, the size was good for myself. The cheeseburger was good and the fries were just too greasy but overall good experience.

So good! Breakfast burritos served all day, they have stump town coffee as well as other options like cappuccinos. They also have burgers and fries and stuff along those lines. They only serve breakfast and lunch. Great customer service and no problems parking! **CASHONLY!

Im definitely particular about breakfast burritos and Phanny’s makes a darn good one! It’s simple, but all the ingredients just go so well together. We need a Phannys in Venice please! Easy parking and my breakfast burrito is consistently always delicious. Will be back soon.

Damn, this place is good! I ordered, and picked up a burrito for the boyfriend and got me an egg salad and bacon sandwich. To-Go. They were both delicious! BURRITO: Loaded with eggs, cheese, hashbrowns, and salsa(+Avocado). Was amazingly a bigger size that normal and the salsa was not crazy spicy, perfect. EGGSALAD&BACONSANDWICH: Just what I wanted. Fresh egg salad with the crunchy taste of bacon on white bread made my day. Although, they didn’t have the Cappuccino machines available(& I was really craving one) I would deff return for some breakfast or lunch meals again. Maybe sit and dine in next time.

Serving up Stumpdown on tap and all day breakfast burritos, how can you not love this place? Seriously between the beautiful mochas, coffee on nitro and cold brews there is no better place in the South Bay for coffee and the breakfast burritos to boot! Soy chorizo breakfast burrito(with avocado) is so tasty and not greasy, just perfect. It’s got finely chopped jalapeño’s for a slight kick but not too unbearable by any means. But it’s really all about the perfect mixture of crispy hashbrowns spread evenly throughout the burrito. Bring CASH… The coffee is seriously the best!

Q: Is it good? A: Yes. Q: How’s the service? A: Very friendly and welcoming. Q: Was it worth it? A: A bit overprice, but I get why. Popular place where the locals hit up. If you’re in OC and want similar breakfast goods, I recommend Georges in Fullerton. It’s cheaper, bigger portion, and delish. We got the breakfast burrito, fries, and coffee. Our total was close to $ 20. At Georges, you’ll get bigger portion with the quality for about $ 11 give or take. Minus 2 stars for small portions and being overpriced. I wouldn’t come back bc it’s so expensive for something so small.

I’ve had my fair share with breakfast burritos and after reading all of the Unilocal reviews here, I do agree Phanny’s breakfast burrito is delicious BUT it’s not the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. I give their breakfast burrito 4⁄5 stars. Why? Mostly for the portion size. I ordered the breakfast burrito with no meat($ 5.75) and substitute with egg whites(additional $ 2). Total cost $ 8.39 with tax. CASHONLYFYI! The burrito comes eggs, hash browns, cheese and with salsa inside. If you don’t prefer that, you can also ask for the salsa on the side. The salsa is not that spicy. The food comes out quick. After looking at the Unilocal pictures of the burritos and then I compare my burrito, my burrito is not big in portion. I would think it’s because I have egg whites inside and no meat… BUUUUUT I don’t think that should be an excuse to not stuff the burrito the same size as the other breakfast burritos with meat and regular eggs, ya know? Other than that, it’s a good burrito because the hash browns inside are CRISPY and every bite, you get a mix of everything and not just a bite of eggs.

CASHONLY! So far I’ve been coming to Phanny’s for coffee. I’m not a big breakfast food fan so I’ll have to come try this place when I have a strong craving for breakfast burritos. They serve stumptown and it is delicious! The employees(seems like a family owned/ran business) are so nice and sweet! Parking can be a bit tricky since it has a small«lot» in the back and it’s street parking. But I really do like that it’s only two blocks away from the beach!

Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever tried… Is what I really wanted to say. After a long night of work, I typically crave something hot and steamy to fill my belly, and this place didn’t exactly do it for me. Perhaps I was just over hyped by all the positive reviews I’ve read? Who knows. The breakfast burrito comes with eggs, bacon, avocado, hash browns, and some salsa. The overall flavor profile is pretty good and the hash browns and bacon add a lovely crunch for that interesting play in textures. The salsa, which was supposed to add some kick, was lost for me. For those who know I love things saucy, I really could have used some more. Something to note is how clean it all tasted. It didn’t seem too heavy or greasy, and I could tell they put a lot of love into it. Overall, it was pretty good, but there was nothing that really pushed it to the next level. Just your average breakfast burrito with a dash of love. I initially wanted to enjoy this burrito at the beach, but I was short on time. Wouldn’t that have been something. Btw! Cash only guys!!!

This is one of those restaurants that you may drive by if you don’t know how good it is. I know I did that for years. The fact is, this is a very good restaurant that serves very good food. They offer Americana with a bit of a Mexican flare. But, the fact is, what they do they do very well. It is GOOD!!! And, the latte’ chef takes the time to do very nice designs in all of the drinks he creates. This is a very nice touch. Phanny’s has a parking lot in the rear so parking is easy and you don’t have to worry about finding parking on PCH or on one of the side streets. From there you just walk in and order at the counter. They give you a number and bring your meal and drinks to your table a few minutes later. The only downside to this restaurant is that they don’t have air conditioning. So, in the summer it can get pretty warm inside. They do have an overhead fan but it still gets warm. Just keep that in mind. But, other than that this place is great. The staff is nice and the food is good. Recommended!
