Service is great. You definitely feel at home. Lomo saltado was yummy. Peruvian tamales? Had it for the first time here. Verrrry good. But this place closed down! Replaced by a restaurant called Snax! :(

I LOVED this place, but it appears it has closed and is now a «Snax — home of the superburger». If anyone out there knows if they just moved and not closed, please let me know. They had the BEST green sauce of any Peruvian place. Their chicken was always fresh and moist and tasty. I’m having severe withdraw from my bi-weekly chicken Caesar salad. Honestly the best CCS I have EVER had. Miss it terribly. :(

I live right around the corner and I was excited about eating there. unfortunately, it wasn’t a very good experience when we took an order out. the positives: chicken was good, although it was slightly overdone. green sauce was good the middle: fries were meh. they looked fresh cut, however, and I think that was the saving grace from sogginess. negatives: the ribeye that I ordered medium rare was 1) well done and 2) I don’t know what cow it came from, but I was only able to eat about ½ of the cut of meat. How can you treat a piece of meat like that? the iceberg salad I got on the side was yellow and wilted, I didn’t eat it. I would certainly have loved to see more vegetables on the plate. Definitely not going back.

I have to say this is pretty darn good, nothing spectacular but nonetheless decent. Had the ‘Most Popular Dish” the pollo saltado and smothered this with the green Aji sauce! This liquid dressing is highly tatsty and goes hand in hand with the all the entrees here. The staff was very attentive and the place was clean, prices are decent than most other local Peruvian mom and pop establishments, I ate my grub while listening to the sounds of Mana , also the bread they serve is fresh and piping hot! So hot I nearly burned my upper lip from the vapors that spewed from these rolls. I would definately come back.

Great food! Lord knows what’s in the green sauce but it’s the best thing in the world. Can never go wrong with bread and the green sauce. Love the garlic fish, their pesto pasta and grilled chicken. The food there is really addicting. Salivating big time as I’m writing this.

Mmmm chicken. I’m not particularly fond of grilled chicken because it’s usually much to dry to my liking, and not very tasty. But after all the grease I’ve been eating this week, I gave it a shot. First, they gave me a nice toasted roll with the spicy green Aji sauce. Oh man, that sauce is delicious! I’ve never had it before, but I’m definitely a fan now… a very light and fluffy sauce, with a great kick. I ordered their«Most Popular Dish», the Saltado de pollo. The grilled chicken, to my surprise, was juicy and delicious enough that I wanted to just eat chunks of it on its own, without sauce. Along with the rice, grilled onions and tomatoes, it’s all you could ever want in a grilled chicken dish. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the bed of french fries… they were OK, but just ended up being kinda soggy and not adding much to the dish.

Great place to eat. The food is reasonably priced, and the chicken is far better than nearly anything on Artesia, that claims to be Peruvian. The place is quaint and very low key, empty which lends itself to amazing service. The green sauce is a must(order three containers because you will want it). The menu is huge! Just make sure, if your calling for take out, you ask how many chickens they have currently have ready, as your first question. If they don’t have two, and you need two, it will take an hour and a half.

My co-workers took me to Pollo Grill a couple years ago for my birthday. I remember the food and good times. Just recently I found myself back here again to meet up with an old friend. I love Peruvian food and my normal picks would be the lomo saltado (Peruvian Stir-fried Beef and Potatoes) or the Aji De Gallina(chicken). Those delicious dishes would have to wait however since I’m still on my no meat diet for Lent. Once again I was a bit worried about what I would eat here. Even my friend commented that it probably was not the best place for vegetarians. I was happy to see however that they had a vegetarian section on their menu. Vegetarian selections included the tallarin verde(pesto spaghetti– Peruvian style) and a vegetarian version of the saltado(sans meat). I opted for the vegetarian version of the saltado. Right before our entrees were served, we were given warm bread in a basket. The warm bread when topped with their green aji sauce was simply delicious. They also gave an orange sauce that was a bit spicy but also quite tasty. The green sauce is the best though. My vegetarian version saltado was alright. It was mostly stir fried veggies and onions on top of white rice. There was also french fries on the side. It felt like too much of a carb meal though with no protein there. I ended up not eating most of my rice. I think the next time I come to this restaurant will have to be after Lent or when I’m back to eating meat again. It really isn’t a place for vegetarians. The veggie dish was ok but I think the lomo saltado(the beef dish) would be more flavorful and tastier. I’ll need to come back here again to eat that :).

I like it, I usually get the ¼ Chicken combo it’s good and it comes with a salad and rice or french fries. They have this SPICY Peruvian mayonnaise sauce that they bring out with bread, the sauce is made with an herb(Huacatay) that Peruvians call«Black Mint» * even though it’s not black? ok odd fact but still good and in fact everything I’ve had here has been good and I always leave stuffed. * I’ve learned this from a Peruvian friend who thinks he is the«Peruvian Ambassador to the World.»

Good authentic Peruvian food. The Lomo Saltado was $ 11 and delish. Definitely ask for the alfajores(soft shelled cookies with powdered sugar) when you go. They’re the best!

I love this place. It has some of the best food I have ever tasted… you gotta try the Saltado De Pollo… and get the ½ Chicken dinner with fries. The bread they serve is superb ! The Best. You gotta load up on the green and orange sauce to mix in with your rice. Spicy and colorful ! The waitresses are really nice and friendly, they have some nice wines and beers from wonderful places besides St Louis, and it has good atmosphere. Fancy? No. Very very Good. Yes. Prices? Quite good. Portions? Plenty to take home ! Just go there. Forget any negative comments you have seen.

I don’t know why this place always seems to be empty whenever I come by. It must be really busy during the week at lunch but on the weekends, there’s always usually only one or two other tables during lunch. This is probably why they only have one waitress who seems to do everything from taking the orders, bussing the tables to taking phone orders and manning the register! She is one busy gal! Anyways, about the food… it’s good! I’ve had the Saltado de Pollo which is the signature Peruvian plate and it’s probably the best representation I’ve ever tasted amongst all the Peruvian restaurants I’ve been to. It’s a generous portion of crisp potato fries, onions, tomatoes and chicken and over a heaping mound of white rice. Eating half of my plate is usually substantial for me when I can resist myself, hehe! I’ve also had their Lamb special on another occasion and thought it was just decent and nothing spectacular except the price. I wouldn’t order this plate because it would disappoint you if you’re looking for a really nice portion of lamb chunks. The taste was pretty ordinary too, nothing outstanding. I was happy to pour the green aji sauce to enhance the flavor, actually. This is definitely a great place to visit for Peruvian amongst all the other competition if you like good Peruvian food. I’ll have to try the Lomo Saltado(beef) next time to see how it compares but I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for good tasting Peruvian.

Sitting in an ugly little strip mall off Artesia in the seediest part of Redondo, Pollo Grill offers some respite from its surroundings — but not enough. The décor was nicer than we expected, as tables were adorned with white table cloths and the owners took some time to put some Peruvian style arbors in to spice up the place. But they left the ugly white popcorn and bad recessed lighting in the ceiling, which detracted from it all. As with all Peruvian restaurants, they offered bread(fresh tasting) with that green crack sauce that we devoured. The meals were a little less delicious. My girlfriend’s saltado vegetales seemed to be primarily onions and not enough of anything else. My «Shrimp Reventenado»(sp?), was fine, but I wasn’t ready for a dinner of pure shrimp, and nothing else(including the massive intact entire shrimp on the center of the plate). Something about ripping off legs and shell and peering into the empty head cavity of your food is always a little unappetizing. At that point, I wished I could follow my girlfriend’s vegetarian ways. The place was a little more crowded that we expected, and more than the single server/cashier/bus girl could handle. However, she was pleasant throughout — if not a bit slow. We skirted outta there quickly, skipping temptation to wander into the local, dirty dive bars to pound a beer and rid ourselves of the lingering tastes of onion and fish carcass…

The only Peruvian food I’ve ever had before this was back in the late 90s at Pollo Inka [down in… Hermosa?]. The restaurant was pretty small, and there was a tiny amount of parking, but it was a Saturday at 3pm, and there was no wait, and it wasnt too busy. Just a few families there. I ordered a chicken soup, which was HUGE. I couldnt even finish it. The chicken was very tender and juicy, and there were plenty of noodles in it to keep me happy. My friends all overdosed on the green sauce. We actually used an entire bottle on our food. They have a vegetarian menu, so props to them for that. All in all, pretty good, and you get quite a bit of food for your money.

Good stuff! Their Aji(thats the green sauce, folks) is MUCH better than the sauce at El Pollo Inka. Youll be hard pressed not to drown your saltado in the stuff. Their saltado itself, however, isnt quite as flavorful or copious as over at El Pollo Inka. Prices are a tick higher, too. But the aji more than makes up for that, as does the quieter, more relaxed, more hole in the wall style. I like that. I also like good aji. And i want more… oh please give me more… Please?

I’ve been to Peruvian places before. This place leaves them all to shame. Good food at great places. I’m not kidding you when I say that they have the only $ 5 meal I actually look forward to. Their quarter chicken meal is simply fantastic. Not only are their fries fresh and uniquely seasoned, but their salad is equally tasty. And their chicken is amazingly juicy and tender. But what ties it all together is their impossibly addictive green sauce. As taught to me by my cousin, I use it for everything – the bread before the meal, the fries, and, of course, the chicken. If I’m with a large party, it’s not unheard of to go through a whole bottle or two of the stuff. If nothing else, you simply must try the sauce.

I’ve only been there once or twice and I was happy with the food there, it was overpriced compared to Pollo Inka — that’s for sure. At least 30% more expensive. On the plus side, the food is not as oily or saturated as Pollo Inka and it resembles more traditional peruvian food(I would know, i was born and raised there, and my mother cooked it for me every week). Major props for making me a pisco sour even though its not on the menu. Only one Pollo Inka location makes pisco sours(I’ve been to four of them) and Pollo Grill made one for me(after asking nicely … in spanish) and it was fantastic. Another prop for their Chicha. It was very good, but don’t think they made it fresh. I don’t blame them, it takes a day to make a batch of chicha, but I wish someone around here would try. Anyways, I’ll say 3 stars for the food, and I’ll add a 4th star because I hope people will go there more often and they shouldn’t be scared off by a 3-star review.
