Wright’s Kung-Fu

If you want to try this place and see if you like it DO NOT give them your credit card. It seems I’m not the only one who had issues trying to cancel and walk away after one session.

Beware of this place. It’s unfortunate that after my son’s contract with Wrights Kung Fu expired in Feb-​2014, and he no longer wished to continue Kung Fu, Wright’s Kung Fu continued to receive my monthly fee from my bank because of their auto-​billing vendor they used and kept my March and April payments. I gave Sifu Derek Wright the opportunity to do the right thing and return my payments from March and April, but he refused to do so. It’s a sneaky trick they use to keep your money. NEVER DO AUTO-​RENEW and NEVER go through a 3^rd party billing company. It’s just not worth the headache. I fulfilled my contract in good standing. I am a single parent of two boys and I work very hard for my money and he couldn’t do the right thing. BEWARE and do not do an auto-​renew contract with this place. I fully understand that I should have kept closer eye on the expiration and the little box that was checked for auto-​renew, but Mr. Wright REFUSED to do the right thing. No integrity. BEWARE and I DO NOT recommend this place at all!!!

Called them to ask for price (they would not tell me) and tried to get some additional info. Made an appointment to get intro class (which was great), but at the end of call I felt kind of pushed to make sure the person in charge of money will come with me. So I looked them up on Unilocal and after reading some review I got scared. I canceled the meeting. But this review is not about their service, they still could teach your kids a great things.

Wright’s Kung Fu saved my life.
After ‘driving a desk’ for 13 years, I have a little more around the middle than most. I’ve only been learning with them for three months, but I’ve lost more than 15 pounds and two inches around my waist. With dedication and hard work, my brain and self-​confidence are also getting quite the workout. I just earned my white belt and with that, a new sense of accomplishment. I now wear it like a badge of honor.
You can go to the gym and get a workout. Or, you can come here and get a life lesson and some new friends. But, don’t kid yourself, it’s hard work.
The only easy day was yesterday.

I have been a student at Wright’s Kung Fu for a little over a year now. It has been the best decision I have ever made. Since my enrollment, I’ve lost a hundred and twentty pounds, which has completely changed my life. I feel more fit and confident, and have more respect for myself and others around me. With a lot of hard work and dedication to the program I have discovered new limits I have never reached before in my life.
I never thought I would be able to do something like this, but because of what i am learning at the Academy I learn something new everyday about myself and what I can accomplish. I still have much more to learn, but I am very confident I will succeed in my goals here at the Academy.
I encourage anyone to visit our Academy if they would like to find out more about martial arts and fitness, and what they might accomplish for themselves and family at our school.

I actually signed up on Unilocal just to write this review. I will come back and re-​write another review pending my issue is resolved. When initially signing up for Kung Fu classes, they kinda hurry you into choosing a program and you sign three pieces of paper.
Unfortunately, only one of the pieces of paper is actually sent to the billing company. I signed up for a one year term that was supposed to come along with a $ 250.00 cancellation fee at any time. The paper sent to the billing company does not mention the $ 250.00 cancellation fee Mr. Smith and I discussed. I sent the billing company the other paper I signed and the they will not accept it.
Some of the reviews about Sifu Wright being angry are just plain wrong. He is a good teacher and patient. Although I was mislead about the adult classes being acceptable for beginners (it is not), the instruction is OK.
I am cancelling my contract due to personal issues and soon I will be moving. Luckily, I am moving relatively soon and can cancel the contract using a move. It is just unfortunate that I feel lied, cheated and or tricked by people who are supposed to mentor me with self growth and discipline.
I guess a lesson on my part is learned that even the most innocent looking people who are there to teach and train you can also be dishonest and not forthright. I have sent my three contracts to my lawyer, so another review is pending the court proceedings if necessary.

For an art that prides itself on respect and honor this place is a sham. I signed my daughter up for Kung Fu, for six months and paid all in advance. UNDER ONE CONDITION… my daughter travels to visit family every summer and is gone about 6 weeks, I wanted that time added to the end of our contract. Mr. Smith told me it would be no problem. Six month contract ends and SiFu Wright tells me that he will not honor the commitment Mr. Smith made with me. He tells me it would be Mr. Smith’s word against mine except he never even asks Mr. Smith what he said even though he was in the gym. I understand everyone wants to make money but honor your commitments and the commitments of your staff. Well needless to say we quit on the spot… what a waste we threw away almost a quarter of our money on classes. Plus who wants to watch their 6 year old get upset about the abrupt ending of their after-​school activity.
If you choose to do business with this company get EVERYTHING in writing!!!

My wife and I had been looking for authentic Chinese Gong Fu in the south bay area for some time. There are lots of Karate and other martial art classes but we really wanted to learn authentic Chinese style martial arts. Wrights Kung Fu is as authentic as they come.
Great place to bring the whole family. They have classes for «Little Tigers». After they graduate from that they can train along side their parents in the many «Family Classes»

This is a great academy. Sifu Wright is well versed in 7 star praying mantis kung fu. His classes are demanding, but they are a great work out and are founded on on basic fundamental technique and form. Highly recommended.
