YUM! Why don’t I ever eat here??? The last time I came here was when I went to El Co yearssssssss ago, but I don’t remember this place ever making an impression on me, good or bad. Finally dropped by for lunch on Father’s Day and I’ve been missing out! Wahhhhh! The ladies at the register were really nice and prices are pretty cheap: we got a two item combo and three item combo for about $ 20. I got the California rolls(8 piece), white fish teriyaki, and shrimp tempura, yummmmmmm! The white fish teriyaki was SO good and I don’t even usually like teriyaki stuff. Came with salad and rice– I was stuffed. This place is super tiny and a pretty small parking lot, but luckily when we went, it wasn’t crowded at all. Will be back!

They have really good service and their food is super quick. If you ever need good Japanese food on the go, come here. I would recommend their pork Katsu, tempura udon. And their sushi.

Okay,(Obama voice), let me be clear: the one and only crowned champion of teriyaki goodness is Teriyaki 1st of the hallowed Greenwood neighborhood in Seattle, WA. BUT, no spot has fought for my heart harder than Rice Things nestled in Redondo. I’m a sucker for affordable meals, big portions and well crafted foodstuffs. I’ll be damned if Rice Things hasn’t nailed every one of those. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s not the most hittin, high quality Japanese food that I’ve ever had, but I say five stars because the sheer amount of choice, volume, and great service that’s provided — at a ridiculously affordable price. Yo, you’re telling me I can get a gang of chicken, salmon, AND sushi rolls or whatever other choice from their exhaustive list of choices, with a salad for under 10 bucks, AND(!!!) it’s hella good!!! I’d call you a liar. Right to your face. So naw, it’s not anything to write home to mama about but this place is a blessing in a city where most comparable restaurants would give you half the portion for twice the price. Everyone working has always been super sweet too, so I appreciate that. So don’t be scared away by the boring name, what awaits inside is anything but. Shout out to the three combo plate.

It’s reliable as a local neighborhood option for Japanese food for the residents in the area, and is somewhat legendary for those who used to live here and come back or those in the surrounding area who venture over here as well. You can eliminate the carbs of the white rice and request double salad with your combination platter, which is also a lot less filling, as the portions are fairly generous in size, so a 2 item is filling and a 3 items typically results in asking for a box to take leftovers for another meal. Parking is easy in the lot or surrounding neighborhood streets. I recommend this place to many, as it’s a good quality meal for roughly $ 10 or less.

Great sushi restaurant. The price is just right and you get a lot of food! Food always is done fresh and quickly. Location is nothing special but we love going here.

I love my neighborhood and its places like rice things that make it special. Rice Things has delicious food good, size portions at fair prices. The service is fast and pleasant. Come hungry and order the 3 item special.

I don’t know if I ordered the wrong thing. but the beef teriyaki wasn’t very flavorful. the Cali rolls were as ok as Cali rolls get. & nothing like a little fly in your food to make you barf in your mouth a little. will not return.

This place is awesome! First of all, it’s extremely inexpensive and you get way bigger portions than most other Japanese restaurants give. You order and pay at the counter then find a table so technically it’s «fast-food»…but it’s really good. Their miso sauce/miso dressing is unreal! Make sure you ask for a side of it. Honestly, the only two minor suggestions I would make for them would be to try and figure out a way to seat more people comfortably because the place is SO small, and also that they clean it a little better(I was sitting beside a really dirty wall with window blinds that were filthy with dust and soy sauce splatters) but I mean it wasn’t that bad. I actually found this place by accident because Yanagi across the street(which was my original choice) is closed from 2−5pm every day so my daughter and I walked across the street to this place instead! Yay. So glad we did! I’m so excited to bring my husband back here for a post-workout lunch! Good job Rice Things!

3 ½ stars?! My belly screams«5!!» after each and every time I come. WHY? –relatively cheap/decent prices for huge portions –consistent taste and service I wouldn’t plan a visit SPECIFICALLY here if I were just visiting, but as a local: definitely one of my favorite places to grab a bite.

Love this place! Good food, good prices, and huge portions! I always get the same thing. the 2 combo item with chicken Katsu and the spicy tuna roll. The only miss with the Katsu is that they sometimes over cook it so the ends can be a bit crunchy to eat but I don’t mind! Parking is pretty limited since its in a tiny plaza with other businesses. So most likely you’ll be parking on the street unless you come at s good time. My boyfriend got the three combo with the sesame chicken, avocado roll, and teriyaki vegetables. He liked all of it but he said he’d probably pass on the sesame chicken because there was so much sauce on it. Overall I like coming to this place. Employees are friendly and helpful and clean up the place very quickly!

If you’re new to the South Bay just know that Rice Things is a neighborhood classic. The combo plates are a steal and the food is always good. I recommend the salmon tempura and really any roll. You just cant go wrong with this place. The line can get a little crazy around lunch time and in the summer it always seems to be jam packed, however you can order ahead and skip past all of that. Honestly this review has to be nice and simple JUSTCOMEHERE, its a MUST.

Great little spot for Japanese food. They have great selection and prices. I feel the best best bet is doing the combo or two or three. And that also includes a drink as well. It’s 7.28 w/drink for the combo of two. And 8.65 for the combo of three The parking lot is somewhat small so during peek hours, it may be really full. As well inside its a tad small, but if you go during non peek hours there’s space. Also on non cold nights and rainy days there is outside seating as well. The food is awesome never had an issue. Inside is usually pretty clean, and after people eat a bus boy promptly comes and cleans the table and sweeps up any mess left behind. Will always come back here and eat

I came here after a beach jog, so I was hungry. The best thing going for Rice Things is that you get plenty of food. I highly recommend the 2 or 3 item combo. I felt the quantity of food you get on the 2 item combo is akin to a dinner portion. Was it amazing, no… but it was good. I got the teriyaki chicken and spicy tuna roll(8pc), which comes with a side salad and white sticky rice, all for $ 7.50! How can you argue with that? They have one outside table for warm days, and several inside tables. You don’t get a waiter, but they do bring your meal directly to your table. During the lunch rush, the inside seating will completely fill up. The staff was all friendly, and the food pace was on point. One big downside is the parking, the little lot can be a zoo. I’d go again, the bang for the buck is as good as it gets.

The food of my childhood. I’ve eaten here so many times from middle school-high school. Little Japanese/Hawaiian eatery, very casual vibe. Well priced, we two eel rice bowls that comes with miso soup and total was $ 18 for the two of us. The combo platters are most popular and you can get teriyaki beef, sesame chicken, sushi rolls, Katsus, etc! Curry pork Katsu play comes with lots of rice and salad. So delicious. I also like the chicken udon soup or spicy eel rolls. Overall, the quality has been consistent to me over 8+ years and I like coming back for delicious nostalgic food.

Small strip mall in Redondo Beach, very busy for lunch. Take-out at lunch time was probably about 15 minutes wait. The lady in the front taking orders wasn’t the friendliest, but the menu is vast. Got the 3 item combo which was about $ 8, but added some extra items like futo maki, tuna roll and sukiyaki, which ended up being slightly over $ 10. The futo maki was really good, but sukiyaki was dry. There were no enoki mushrooms or hakusai or eggs. Maybe I’ll try the katsu next time.

If you’re in need of a quick sushi fix, this is the perfect place for you. And its extremely affordable. Estimating about $ 4.50 per roll(8 pc) for the simpler roles. And if you’d like to get a two item place along with chicken or beef teriyaki, it’s only about $ 6-$ 7. Can’t beat that. The meat isn’t the best quality, but its still tasteful and does the job! If you plan to do take out, order ahead of time, or else you’ll be waiting for about 20 mins. This place gets busy during lunch and dinner hours

Rice Things is a little hole-in-the-wall, fast food Japanese place in North Redondo Beach. They have great, affordable combos and wide variety of items for you to choose from. You can get a combo meal with two or three items and a drink for under ten dollars. My usual is sesame chicken or chicken katsu and a California roll. The meal includes rice and a salad. While it is not amazing, it has always been good, good portions and satisfying for a quick, inexpensive lunch or dinner. To sum it up in three words — simple and economical. Parking: It is tucked in a corner of a tiny strip mall and the parking lot has limited spaces as well as street parking.
