Quick Summary: Spend your money elsewhere — you’re sure to get better Details: This used to be called Café Sixty Seven(being off 67th Ave and Queens BLVD). It was closed for some time because it underwent renovation. I just visited this place, now called Valle’s Café for the first time in about 2 months and man, I wish I went to Subway instead. In lieu of a turkey sandwich at subway, I figured: Meh, I’m in the mood for real cold-cuts today(read: Boar’s Head), so lets check it out. Upon first entering, I noticed a new paint job and revised countertop and seating, but alas, nothing that would strike me as, «Wow, they did this in 2 months?!» I obtained their menu to find a standard assortment of breakfast and lunch items and figured, let’s just order a sandwich and see what I get. I ordered: Turkey, Ham and Swiss on a hero with lettuce, tomoato, banana peppers, jalapenos, avocado, oil+vinegar and salt+pepper. Easy, right? Wrong. Ordering: First, I was informed that the ‘deli’ didn’t currently have standard sliced turkey and that they can only give me oven roasted turkey. Fine — no big deal. Second, it took 13 minutes for 2 ‘preparers’ to make the sandwich, during which I went to the next-door CVS to withdraw cash since Valle’s Café does not currently accept debit/credit. Third, I asked if the sandwich came with a side-salad(this is NY — most deli’s/cafes through in a ¼lb of coleslaw or macaroni with a hero): it did not, but I asked for one anyway. Last, when it came time to pay, the counterperson added everything up(I also ordered a can of Coke). My total? $ 16.95. $ 16.95??? For a turkey/ham/swiss hero with a cruddy side-soleslaw(it was yellow, and didn’t look fresh) and can of Coke??? I could go to Subway and order a turkey and ham foot-long, add avocado for $ 1.50, make it a meal, then DOUBLE that entire order and it would still be cheaper than $ 17.00. I know, I know, the ingredients are not Boar’s Head and you’re supposed to pay for quality, etc, etc. But for $ 17, I could go to ‘Fruit Ranch,” which is right next door, and order ¼lb of Boar’s Head turkey/ham/swiss, and buy everything I needed to make my own sandwich — for two days. The Sandwich: Are you kidding? First off, it was missing the banana peppers and an semblance of oil and vinegar. Second, it looked like it was assembled in a centrifuge and miraculously came together between two pieces(the hero was sliced down the middle) of hero bread. Do yourself a favor: Either go to the supermarket and take some time to make yourself a spectacular lunch, or be ignorant of the fact that you are eating processed cuts and visit a Subway. Either way, you’re better off.

Overpriced for the quality of food, probably because it’s right outside of the subway station. The bagels are like bagels I could get at CVS, which is basically next door, and the inside of the place always looks dim-ish and not very clean. When I went to get a simple toasted bagel with cream cheese, the service was lousy, with the register guy having a conversation with a friend in the back and looking pained when he had to come and take my order. Wil not go again.

Café 67 is a pretty standard bagel place. I came here for brunch a couple wks ago and it did not fail to satisfy. I had a wrap sandwich and split breakfast potatoes with my lovely dining companion. Café 67 is pretty good but Twin Donut is my local favorite.

Keep on walking! The bagels are not what we refer to as ‘nyc’ bagels, they are doughy. Even the Sunday Daily News is lacking, no inserts or tv guide. They won’t see us again or get our $.

although Twin Donut is probably my favorite place within a quick walk to get breakfast at, it’s nice to have a backup option for when the weather will inevitably get nasty enough to discourage me from walking down Queens Bully. thankfully, Café 67 is just two blocks down the street from me, and it’s a pretty good backup breakfast joint. I went with a good benchmark of deli breakfasts — sausage/egg/cheese on a bagel. egg bagels are my favorite, so I got one of those. you can customize the sandwich depending on how hungry you are — have up to 3 eggs, more sausage patties, more cheese, etc(the price, obviously, goes up, but it’s cool to have that option). glad to say that the sandwich didn’t let me down! the bagel itself was chewy and flavorful. egg was just a little runny and mixed with the cheese into the bagel’s dough when squeezed. well done! they don’t have flavored coffee, but the regular coffee is decent. a medium coffee and a breakfast sandwich set me back about 5 bucks. not bad. there’s some seating inside. also, they have cookies, pastries, pancakes, and cold cuts. Café 67, you’re my breakfast silver medal. I’ll definitely be back.

I ask for a toasted egg bagel with lox and scallion cream cheese and I’m in heaven every single time, for $ 4.60 which is totally reasonable. There is a really nice latino guy usually behind the counter. I’ve seen a couple of other people man the counter instead of him when things are busy who aren’t as quick/friendly, but I’m content because I usually get him. Recently saw a picture of one of the workers(related to owner?) on the counter with flowers, I wonder if something bad happened to him. Anyone know?

I’m surprised nobody added this place. It’s just outside the subway station, so it’s convenient. I find the service lacking and indifferent, the bagels are a little over priced, and the ambiance leaves something to be desired, but location location location, and the above is not that bad to keep you away. Still, why has nobody added it?
