This place is one of my favorite restaurants in the Rehoboth Beach area. Everything from the dining experience, food presentation, the taste, and even the texture of their food is phenomenal. The crab deviled eggs are a great starter. Their crab cakes are delicious. The Executive Chef definitely knows what he’s doing. The service is 1st class and the ambience and atmosphere are delightful. This place is a must on your restaurant bucket list. CHEERS

We just had Thanksgiving Dinner here. It was all decked out with stunning holiday decorations, warm romantic lighting, and beautiful soothing music to go with. So we were really rooting for this place but it was such a dud. I found myself struggling with my food. My turkey was rubbery, the brussels spouts were like stubborn little cabbages that didn’t want to be cut or eaten, and the mash potatoes were regrettably forgettable. And my favorite Thanksgiving dish, the stuffing, was a sugary mix of cornbread and some other stuff. At that point we surrendered and asked for our desserts to go. What saved the night? Our delicious wine, sparkling water, and sweet comfy window table. We’d go back for their nice happy hour cocktails and light bar fare but for a full meal we’d go somewhere else.

Slat Air is our fav! However, it’s impossible to get a reservation for weeks in advance so hop on it or you won’t eat here. Their food is a mixture of comfort foods, chops, steaks, chicken, and seafood. It’s the perfect menu for varying tastes. They have fun craft cocktails The place is cool and relaxed but has an up scale feel tool. We tend to dress up a tiny bit to go here.

Salt Air, the name befitting because the air is salty as f**k. The hostess and manager were awful. Let me tell you all about it. We walk in and they tell us 1.5 hours to wait, we tell the hostess that’s perfect because the rest of our party will be arriving within the hour. 28 minutes later they call us up and ask if we want to be seated, since we told our party the original quote we weren’t all there so they tell us we can go back on the waiting list which would be two hours additional if we even get seated at all. To me this was inexcusable. This is so unfortunate because the food and drinks here are amazing. Definitely try the Manhattan and the coconut shrimp! I don’t know if I would return though because of the way the hostess and manager treated us regarding the wait…

Good food. I had the salmon. It was excellent. The sauce on the bed if cauliflower and small potatoes was delicious. Salmon was done perfectly. My companion had the shrimp fry. Shrimp fried in cornflakes. She loved it and she is hard to please. The atmosphere wS very nice with soft jazz music playing in the background. Service was good too. I would highly recommend. I had a delicious Vermont lemon martini. It was great!

Pros: Very good food. Very generous cocktails that were oh so tasty! Wait service was very good, friendly, and knowledgeable. This could become one of my faves if they stay consistent. Update: Found out that the owners are same as Summer House. This is good but have to add that while the bar service was lacking in promptness and attention at Summer House recently, the bar staff at Salt Air was very good so there’s definitely a difference in customer service training or caring. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the area. Oh, and if they do not show reservations available online, call. You may get lucky. Cons: Street parking is tough this close to the beach. I was notified that while there’s no valet service, meters are free during the off season. Tables can be a bit close to other diners.

Hits and misses at Salt Air. Love the atmosphere and menu seems varied and interesting. We had the steak/crab cake and brined chicken. The steak and chicken we’re both flavorful and massive portions. The sides weren’t great for each. The greens with the chicken were too greasy and the cornbread was way too sweet. The potatoes with the steak were bland and the crab cake pretty standard. We both felt pretty bloated after. Mixed feelings.

We tried to make reservations this morning, but we missed the window. They take them for 5 – 6 pm. All others have to wait. That’s ok because you can put your name down and they will text and call when your table opens up. So we had a chance to walk around for a while as we waited for a table to open up for 7. The food is fresh. The portions are generous. We(our party) had everything from fish to burgers to chicken. There was not a complaint. It was actually quiet(at our table at least) while everyone started eating. They bring yummy flatbread crackers with a goat cheese spread before dinner as well. Needless to say, we are so full that we must now walk around Rehoboth some more in order to breathe. At 8:33pm, you won’t have to wait. Actually, the restaurant emptied out a little about 7:45/8pm. There are still lots of people, but the noise level has dropped so as we can have conversations now. Or, maybe it’s because we finished eating.

This is late, we dined at Salt Air a month ago. The experience was quite lovely. We ate at the bar top facing the open air kitchen. Our server and food were divine! We will return! We visit Rehoboth Beach once a summer.

We’ve gotten into a rut, going to the same restaurants every trip. Not that I’m complaining: but we’re bored. I searched for«safe» options for me, and this popped up. I was expecting the usual beachy place. Some of the reviews inaccurately suggest woeful service. Flat out — those are fake reviews. This is one hell of a treasure, and I kick myself for not having gone here when it first opened. We were warmly greeted, and offered seating at the bar where we could watch the kitchen or wait for a table. It’s just the two of us, so the bar was fine. The restaurant is lovely, with intimate tables and a short dining bar. This is not one of the Route 1 places, nor are there gigantic groups yelling and screaming. We ordered the rosé sangria which is light and sweet and we both went for the crab cakes. Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, so this play land for me. I haven’t had crab cakes in years. I started with the gazpacho, which is properly light and seasoned with thinly sliced cucumber. This is not the dreaded cold soup from a can. This is what makes a summer soup delicious. I could have stopped here. Husbear ordered the house cheese with flat breads and the server brought out celery for me. Celery, not gluten free crackers. I could have kissed her: gluten free crackers suck. Don’t drag a class meal down with them. The crab cakes were accompanied with roasted asparagus, which I loved. This gave them a slightly sweeter taste and went nicely with the crab cakes. The crab meat was big, rich and a dream. These weren’t buried in some nightmare sauce, but just an accent of flavor. The portions were so large there was no room for dessert. We were both delighted with the meal and experience — and the signature gift of biscotti and tea.

I really love this place, excellent food, nice decoration, we only wait 30 min for the table in high season. They change the menu all the days, everything is fresh, very good and tasty. Coming back soon…

We decided to try Salt Air after we could not get a table at Henlopen City Oyster House. The experience started out well with prompt service in the waiting area for drinks and appetizers. The hostess said the wait would be roughly 30 minutes but it ended up only being 15 or so and we were guided to our table by one of the managers. The waitress we received was fantastic, personable with lots of charisma. Our party was in town for a bachelor party so everyone was in a great mood to start the night off on the right foot by having a great dinner experience. Unfortunately about ¾ of the way through the dinner experience our table was rudely and falsely accused of saying something inappropriate to one of the hostesses. As my party was enjoying conversations awaiting the main course we noticed the executive chef standing about 3 feet from our table with his arms crossed giving a stern look with somewhat of a smirk. We were pretty confused as to the meaning of the visit. Then a manager walked up to the table and proceeded to rudely scold us about how we should not have talked to their 17yo hostess like that. Essentially a scene was created and our table came out looking like a bunch of seedy jerks. The entire table was absolutely confused and inquiring with each other as to what happened after the rude battering from the manager ended. No one had said anything remotely inappropriate to any of the staff at the restaurant. The only reasonable explanation we could come up with was that the hostess misheard a question that was presented to her when she asked if the table needed anything. The question was«Are you asking about drinks or food?» since it was a bit odd to have a hostess asking the table if they needed anything. Typically the waitress or a secondarily announced server handles the tables orders. From this point on dinner was ruined. We were all angered by the false accusation and the way in which the staff chose to handle the situation. We would have preferred and expected a more professional method to have been applied and for the restaurant to make sure they had all the information before publicly accusing our party. This was a terrible experience and is not an exception for Salt Air. I read through 5 recent comments and found a similar situation of a party being publicly accused of mistreating a 19 yo hostess for something that was misinterpreted. This group decided to leave and received a childish«good» from one of the managers. We will never dine with Salt Air ever again!

A huge group of my girlfriends and I were just here Saturday night for a pre-bachlorette night dinner, and they were very accommodating given that has to be a restarant’s worst nightmare! We were sat right away with waters and parmesean crusted pita with goat cheese spread already on the table. Because we all love to try everything, we each tried to order something different and pass it around the table to try. The verdict? Everything was extremely fresh and delicious. The standouts had to be the crab stuffed deviled eggs with crispy jalapeños(best deviled eggs I’ve ever had — sorry Mom!), the shrimp and grits(with salsa verde, a very unique spin on one of my all time favorite dishes), the Tuna with Sobe noodles, and the seafood stew. For drinks we loved the hibiscus cocktail, the bee sting(had a honeycomb in it!), and the French Mule That being said, the menu changes nightly. They stamp each one to show its brand new each night. I have faith any night will be delicious.

Great drinks, food and dessert here. We tried to go with a party of 6 at 6:30pm on a Thursday night so we ended up with a two hour wait. Since they text you, we were able to go kill time at the boardwalk instead of sitting outside the whole time so it wasn’t horrible. Just don’t go hungry and expecting to sit right away — or call for reservations — not sure why we didn’t do this ourselves but will remember that for next time. Once we got in, we were taken care of fairly well. They did seem a bit slow to bring things out but were overall pretty attentive. We had a fairly good sampling of the menu(from the burger to cornflake crusted shrimp to mussels, chicken and the pasta) with all of us enjoying the food. A few said amazing(the burger with the bacon jam and the green beans with the chicken) but most of us ranked things on the good to very good side. While the portions are very generous, we still managed to make room for a few desserts. Definitely save room.

My husband and I dined here recently and had a fantastic meal. We did not have a reservation, however, we had no problem being seated at 5pm. The service was on point, food was delicious, and atmosphere was cool. We highly recommend Salt Air! And we will definite be returning when we are back in town.

One of the best food places in Rehoboth! Great place to go out of season as it’s always so busy. Farm to table menu and delicious food evry time. Great bread basket too! Gret fish so fresh as are the meat dishes. Crab cakes are amazing so are the steaks. I have also had the shrimp here and they are scrumtious. The décor is eclectic and inspiring. Great little seating area as you are waiting for your table. In season the atmosphere is buzzing but a little too busy for my taste. Service is really good and staff are attentive. This place is a must for foodies in RB.

This is quickly becoming my one of my favorite spots in Rehoboth. I probably shouldn’t talk about it or there will always be a wait. They do take reservations, but they are not on open table. I usually prefer to snag a few seats in the bar. This stop in was for Happy Hour — they have half price apps and snacks in the bar and a few drink specials. This post is a little over due — so I was still in a Rosé drinking mood. And, ever since then, I have been searching for this wine — so if anyone finds it in the city, please leave a comment. It is a very very dry rose — made from Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah grapes. I found that it had a bright color and definitely noticed berry or fruity notes on the nose. If you like dry wines — this one is super balanced and finishes very smooth. We split a bunch of the apps that were on special. The farm fresh crab deviled eggs. These were great — they weren’t as crabby as the would have been here in Charm City, but let’s be real — who besides Baltimore really knows crabs? They did not top it with Old Bay, but rather a jalepeño chip. We also had this gorgeous cheese plate. I liked the slate chalk board, so that they can write what the cheeses are right on the board. Two of them were goat cheeses, but the Purple Haze was much softer and smoother than the Two Valley. The third cheese was a very soft brie style cows milk cheese. But, more importantly look at those«fixin’s». There were three types of crackers, mustard, berries, nuts, apples. My favorite was the wine berries! As I write this, I am not shocked that my favorite was a berry that involved wine. We also had Matt’s «Slower Lower» Scrapple Sliders. I don’t think I have ever had scrapple before this. Scrapple is pork that is ground and then mashed into a loaf, sliced and fried. These guys serve there’s on tiny slider sized potato roll style buns and topped with a spicy mayo and and cabbage slaw. I am glad these were on special — they were worth it for $ 5, not sure I would order them for $ 10.

Ok… the best restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. After a week of hopes and disappointments, though not too grumbling stomachs because we did eat… just not normally at the money’s worh level… we finally ended up across the street at Salt Air. 3 blocks away from the beach, stop here after having gone back to your beahc house or hotel room, and having gotten the sand out and dressing casually. Reservations? Yes. Otherwise, put your name on the list and hope… it worked for us. Menu changes daily… and it is truly farm and local catch to table driven. Fresh, fresh, fresh. The mussels as a table starter are great. Plump, juicy, hot… in a great broth made full by the tasso ham… not an expected ingredient with mussles, but as with a clam chowder., it works. The scallops were collossal and great, and of course… very rich and filling. The seafood stew was a table pleaser. Great wait staff, lovely owner who works the floor… this is a place to return to.

My family and I had a very pleasant experience at Salt Air last night. While we came at a busy period, we were told we just had to wait 35 minutes, which wasn’t bad and there is a few nice places to sit and wait. I saw that some people had ordered drinks from the bar so that is an option when you’re waiting. We were seated and promptly our waiter came by and took our drink orders. They came out quickly but my boyfriend’s Dogfish took a little longer to come out. Drinks are served in cute little Mason jars. We were also served a goat cheese spread and Parmesan crisps. They were so addicting and we wish that they gave us more! We decided to split 2 salads between 4 people. We chose the Grilled Peach Salad and the Caesar. Both came out promptly and were delicious! The Caesar was pretty basic and expected, but the peach salad was awesome. It was so flavorful and rich that my dad declared that he wanted to make this at home. Then our entrees came. My mother and I ordered the crab cakes, which were fantastic. They were nice and meaty, but not filled with filler. Good chunks of crab. My boyfriend had the seafood stew, which he loved and thought it was very fulfilling, so much that he couldn’t finish it! My dad ordered the porkchops and loved them. All of us cleaned our plates! Then we had dessert. I ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream, which was really creamy and yummy. My boyfriend ordered the Jamaican coffee, which he very much enjoyed. My mother order the grilled peaches dessert because she was so thrilled with the salad and was not disappointed. It was very good. My dad got the winner of the desserts though. He ordered the Cookies and cream, which all of us decided was the best dessert because of how rich it was. Overall great experience! Love this place!
