I can’t believe I have lived in Reno this long and today was only my first visit to Beefy’s!!! They have fantasticly amazing garlic fries. Not sure if they put crack in them or what but I couldn’t stopping eating them!!! I will be back for more.

Beefy’s is undoubtedly a hole in the wall. It originally opened as a diner in the 1940s. Beefy’s hasn’t been around long, but their food is delicious. All the burgers are very good, made to order and come in a variety of combinations. I recommend the breakfast burger: a patty with bacon and an egg on top. So good. Be warned, though, the restaurant is very small and seating is limited. All the staff are very friendly, though, and even though they close at 7, you can stay and finish. Definitely a must try!

It’s early evening and the quest of the day is a burger. My standby burger joint has recently had a significant upswing in the number of smokers at the bar(don’t even get me started), so it was time for a change of venue. First of all, it’s pretty divey. Not the kind of divey where you think you might end up with communicable diseases, but it definitely has an edgy vibe to it where you know it has loyal followers and a whole group of people who has no idea it exists. There’s only about 15 seats in the whole place, so we should all hope it stays that way. The menu is simple: burgers, dogs, fries. There’s a couple beers on tap and a nice selection of bottled. Happy hour for a couple hours in the middle of the day where you can get some sweet discounts. To give you an idea of my appreciation for Beefy’s, the first time I came here was two weeks ago. I’ve been back twice since, each time bringing more people with me. Anthony has been our server each time and he’s fantastic, recognizes people who come back and make them feel special. If errors happen, he’s quick to take care of it. The entire staff is obviously concerned that you enjoy your experience and that you have a delicious beefy burger(or my new go-to is the chicken patty, however it’s just a tad over-fried for my taste). As an FYI, their hours change a bit based on the season. For example, right now they’re only open until 7pm, but they mentioned they might increase their hours again once the weather warms up a bit.

This little burger joint on S Virginia is a gem. Burgers were great and the service was perfect. We had our puppy with us, so looked on Unilocal for pet friendly places and this popped up. They have a small outdoor seating area and you can have your dog out there(summer time). It was winter and snowing when we came ;) The owner/manager was nice enough to let us bring the puppy in and chill under the table while we ate. Cool little place with great food and service!

Stopped in with my best friend for a quick lunch. The place may be small and a little cramped but man is the food amazing. We got the Nevadan burger and the Kansas City burger and we were both blown away by how tasty they both were. Juicy, well cooked and seasoned, and so flavourful! Greasy diner food at it’s best. The milk shakes were thick and delicious. Perfect place for a stop on a walk down Virginia Street. 10⁄10 will recommend.

Awesome food and amazing service. came in with my three kids and it was busy with one guy running the whole restaurant and he had our food ready before I knew it. super friendly service and burgers were on point. The strawberry shake reminded me of ones I got as a kid with chunks of real strawberries. My only regret is not going here sooner.

I love this place. It reminds me of Southern California and all the hole in the wall places that nail the food every time. There is seating for maybe 15 people or so inside and tables outside for when the weather is nice. I have tried many things on the menu from the burgers to hot dogs to fish n chips. We get the fried pickles every time! The fries are the best. The shakes are delicious and a generous size! We have a family of five and it’s not often that we find a place that we all love. Beefy’s is a place where we can all agree to go! What really tops it off though is the staff! We love everyone there and come back time and time again for there company as much as the food!

Oh my! Heavenly blue burger, REAL French fries I’ll be back for sure! New owner is putting the time in and maintaining a quality product! Can’t wait to try a dog next time but the burger was tasty and perfect!

What a great place for burgers, hotdogs and sandwiches. The service was great and staff is nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves burgers and chili cheese dogs. That’s actually why we came to Beefy’s was just to order their chili cheese dogs but I looked at the menu and I wanted to try other things too. So I order a burger and my wife order a chili cheese dog. Both of them were good. I should have order fries too but I didn’t know they came separate. So the burger I order it had an egg and beacon in it along with the patty, tomato and lettuce. Man it was good. It made me feel guilty for eating it. Now I have to work hard to work it off hehe. The parking is easy to get in and out off. There is a small parking lot in the back and street parking I the front. They have a chill and hipster type of atmosphere. Great place if you want to be bad and skimp out on your New Years resolution. Doesn’t any body actually do those anymore? Anyways I will definitely come back for more. I looked at their menu and they have other options that beg to be eaten. It is one of those small establishment that I will go back too and try the different options. My wife and I were sad to see our old burger place close. So we were looking for a new place and this is a fine location to fill my burger and chili cheese dog needs. I look forward to my next visit and hope they keep up the great work. Thanks for reading my review.

Now we know what place to visit when we’re in Reno. :) The burgers are amazing! Wondering why we haven’t discovered this place for all the time we have been in Reno.

If you’re looking for a hole in the wall restaurant, this is the place to go. It was ridiculously good and the owners and cooks were so friendly and welcoming.

I went here because I wanted a delish burger and after seeing the pics and reviews I decided to give it a shot! I got the Kansas city burger with pepper jack cheese that comes with their home made BBQ sauce and fries! The burger was ok nothing special about it it was a little on the dry side so I had to add extra BBQ the fries were more on the crispy side but again nothing special about it!

Absolutely off the hook old-school diner with all that you would expect from a classic American roadside icon from the 1950’s before«fast food» places came on the scene. Small parking lot in the back but there is plenty of street parking also. I loved the skin-on fries and the deep menu with many choices and variations on the choices. Sodas are Coca-cola products and they have an impressive list of bottled and tap beer, especially for such a small place. What I personally appreciated the most was our server’s sincerely polite manner that was like a refreshing breeze on a hot summer day. His charm made our day– no joke. Check their daily happy hour specials for some real bargains. Be sure to check in on Unilocal for a discount(we forgot). Tip: they have a «square» register now and can take credit/debit cards. If you are searching for good food at a fair price served in comfortable and eclectic surroundings– I would say that you need to look no further than Beefy’s.

Need a huge burger piled with heart stopping ingredients with a pint of delicious craft beer? Need to sit right next to the guy cooking your food in a tiny building? Need to experience the 1950’s? Need to be in MIdtown? Need friendly staff to serve you? Need to have alterations done to your suit next door while you wait? You ship has arrived… They seem to be aiming for a high calorie to dollar ratio here. This seems to be the place where cross-country bike tourists stop to refuel, so there you go.

Came here after some shopping in the area because I was craving a burger. It was hot outside, so I thought to myself, «a milkshake sounds pretty good right now.» And the chocolate milkshake was pretty goo! They give out a lot of Shake, and I couldn’t finish it all. I also had the burger that had bbq sauce and an onion ring on it, which was good. I would also try some of their other burgers in the future. Like other reviewers said, it can get pricey. I would add fries to my order next time. I thought they came with the burger, but I guess not. Would go again :)

Another place I’ve been wanting to try since reading all the Unilocal reviews. It’s pretty amusing how small it is. Like really really small. Seriously it makes me question how they could make a profit when you can only hold a total of approximately 12 people during a lunch rush. The service was nice and you could tell the(owner?) took pride in his food– and beer! I elected the pastrami burger. I liked it, but didn’t LOOOOVE it. I don’t like mayo on my burger, so it was pretty dry otherwise. Some dijon helped a bit but it ended up tasting like a dijon burger and not pastrami and beef. The fries were great– a huge platter for $ 2 and you could tell they were fresh and not altered in any way other than straight into the hot oil. General consensus from my party was we all liked our food but weren’t doing backflips. I got to witness someone at the counter take a stab at that moo cluck oink thing– ya know, the dish that has enough calories to last you for three days. It’s disturbing how large it is, and even more disturbing that this guy pretty much finished it! I’d for sure eat here again, but it doesn’t quite crack my list of top few burger spots in Reno. And DOH– forgot to check in on Unilocal for my 10% off!

I’d heard tell of a meat tower known as, «The Moo, the Cluck, and the Oink!»($ 15.99) and knew I’d have to face it at some point. It was just too frightening and fascinating not to order. The menu describes it as a cheddar cheeseburger topped with grilled chicken breast, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, pastrami, bacon, grilled onions, a Pepperjack cheeseburger, BBQ sauce and an onion ring. Note that last bit: AN onion ring. I did indeed receive a Dagwood of meat and cheese that elicited a burst of nervous laughter when I saw it. But that«onion ring» turned out to be a full serving of beautifully-battered rings stacked on top of the sandwich(supported by a skewer). There was easily enough food here to share with a couple other hungry people, but no. I was on a mission. I had to cut it into sections – literally a hot mess – but managed to get it down. All of it, sans rings. Those I took home to enjoy later. You see, I had trained a bit for this and made sure I was at least 24 hours empty for the occasion. On my way out the door the cook stopped me and said, «I need to shake your hand. I’ve never seen anyone finish that by themselves!» I’m not proud of it, but there it is. I ate the whole damn thing in one sitting and the result was akin to religious ecstasy. The chicken was a little dry, but it’s hard to keep a frozen breast from doing that under the best conditions. The pastrami and bacon were really good, and though the burgers were more medium than I prefer, the flavor was there. Extra points for stuffing it all between two halves of a hearty bun up to the challenge. I didn’t eat again for nearly a day and a half. What a deal! :)

Great little place — so tiny and cute. I originally was going to sit at the last seat at the counter, but then I’d be two inches away from the cash register, so I moved all four feet to the back of the diner. Also, think I may have been the only person at the counter not wearing a cowboy hat — LOL! The table in the back was probably a former black jack table — how fun! I was hungry, but not starving, so I opted for a simple cheeseburger and iced tea. The burger was seriously juicy and flavorful and just hit the spot. With tip, the total was under $ 12. Nope, these are not McDonald’s prices, but hey, the people working there had smiles on their faces and the burger was made to order. Thanks for a lovely lunch.

A good solid four stars. It’s small and cute. But, don’t let that stop you. It was burger night and me and pops decided to try someplace that we’ve only been to once before. The old Landrums café location. A 40s era Valentine brand diner. Can you get any more Americana than that? Fortunately, this place is less than a mile from my pops place. We could have walked there! They are located between Virginia St. and Holcomb Ln. on Arroyo St. Parking is slim, but if the lot is filled, generally there is street parking. WATCHFORTRAFFIC. Holcomb is not a lazy street! Enter through the front or rear entrance. Each one offers an interesting view of this iconic restaurant. My dad and I were fortunate enough to score 2 seats at the counter(booth seating is extremely limited… to one booth! The restaurant was filled to about 80% capacity, looking over the dining area. I figure it was the owner who helped us within 1 minute, taking our drink orders. Considering the soda machine was within arms length of where we were seated, it just took about 15 seconds to receive our drinks. For such a small place it sure had a big menu! I ordered the Stetson bleu burger and my dad ordered the pastrami burger. The burgers come À la carte. So, we ordered some of their famous twice fried fries. The meal took a little bit longer to prepare than I thought it would. But, you have to consider the following. It’s a very small place. There is only one cook. And, everything is made to order. Have patience and watch the TV which they have hanging within view of the front counter. Softdrinks are unlimited refills and if you so desire, they have quite a selection of beer. The burgers came out looking just as good as they do in the photos here. The fries came out greasily hot! You know the type I’m talking about. Right out of the frier while the grease is still glistening on each fry. DELICIOUS! — — — — — — — — — — — Bottom Line Yes I would go there again without hesitation. They have outdoor seating for summer time and air condition inside too. Since man does not live on one burger place alone, add this one to your repertoire of quality burger joints!

2.5 years since I first reviewed, and an ownership change seem like good reasons to update this… We pulled into the parking lot behind the building around 6:40PM, at which point I noted that their closing time was 7:00PM. I was thinking maybe we should go elsewhere, as I didn’t want to make them stay open. While I was hemming and hawing, thinking we should go elsewhere, a tall, skinny, black guy opens the door, and invites us in. Ends up he was the cook, and the owner is at the front of the house(i.e. the counter), greets us and sets us up with menus. I’ve heard the owner is the same guy who owns the 7 – 11 by the In-n-Out in Sparks, and has a fabulous beer selection for a convenience store. The beer selection here was pretty solid as well, but I wasn’t drinking that evening. .. One of the owners friends came in while we were sitting there, bringing in a large-format bottle of some sort — definitely a bunch of beer geeks just chilling. In any case, I ordered the fry daddy(fries and an egg), the GF ordered the Korean, and we got some wings(50 cents on Wednesdays). The wings were big, but nothing special — might have to try a different sauce. When our burgers were brought out, the cook brought them out, mentioning that they were his two personal favorites. I really liked my fry daddy — perfectly cooked burger, a solid bun, and who doesn’t like egg on their burger?!? The GF really liked her Korean burger, though I thought it was a bit sweet. I should point out that I’m Korean, and while I like that Korean food has become trendy, if you tell me it’s Korean inspired, I’m going to hold it to a high standard. This didn’t seem Korean to me — just a sweet chili paste, some random cabbage(not anything I’d call kimchi). So, even if it wasn’t Korean, the GF enjoyed it. The whole time, the energy from the cook was evident — he was just happy, and digging making us great food. A bit unexpected considering how close it was to closing time, and checking out for the day… Totally appreciated them welcoming us in late, not rushing us(though I rushed myself), and just the energy and enthusiasm. Definitely still digging the throwback vibe of the tiny space, the retro counter, a cook who cares about his customers, etc.
