The bike shops that I’ve been at in Reno overall rank as a friendly and competent bunch and BRB is no exception. I recently had two town bikes serviced here and they did a great job — their ideology seams to be «under promise and over deliver». The bikes were ready before they said they would be and they went over everything they adjusted, cleaned, and lubed. If you are wondering what their specialty is, I’d say MTB. They have a little of everything, but definitely mostly MTB. And yes, you guessed it, they cater to the Burning Man event. Location, well, they’re all the way up in North Reno. Kind of out of the way for me, but at least check out their website and see if they can help you if you like MTB for sure. It’s a nice little shop up by Peavine.

I want to thank the mechanic that tune up my bike. I really didn’t have time when I be pick it up, didn’t even look at it. I pull it tonight of my truck and I could tell than an amazing job was done. Super clean. Thank you very much.

We’ve used them for 3 years now for Burning Man. NO one does a better job of being organized and they really do set you up properly. I can’t recommend more highly.

This is a shop for people who might be first time buyers. My experience agreed with some of the other reviews on Unilocal indicating they did not respond to phone calls. In other words, if you are waiting on an order, don’t leave a voice mail– your call is unlikely to be returned. As an astute customer, I attempted to order a very expensive bike from Black Rock, only to discover they gladly took my money and then advised me the bike would arrive on X date. It did not arrive, and they failed to keep me updated. Long story short, I had to contact the factory directly, only to find out they advised Black Rock they were completely out of stock at the time of my order… but I was not advised of this. So, if you plan to order a bike from this shop, be sure to check the facts before you give them your money. Buying a floor model is one thing, but they may not have the capacity to do special orders. Worse, they have a track record of poor communication. Hopefully this review helps them improve how they deal with potential clients.

These guys are awesome! They walked me through my first road bike purchase and get the best deal possible for the bike! I love my bike! Then when I had a part break on the bike they were happy to help me out and fix it. I highly recommend going to them for your new bike and/or for you bike maintenance and repairs.

Best mountain bike and repair shop in Reno. Only place I know the mechanics know more about bikes and service than I do. Great for high end mountain bikes but they’ll also sell you a cheap cruiser too or anything in between. All will be built by those skilled mechanics. Only downfall is location is pretty isolated. At least that allows shop enough space for their needs and speaks to their service that people will seek them out.

Very expensive and the bike they gave me died in the middle of Burning Man. They refunded half the rental cost, but overall I was not happy.

Went for a test ride with Curtis and Steve this morning! Can’t say enough but they were very helpful and great to let me try their bikes on the trail so I could get a real feel for how they ride not just in the parking lot. I can say for sure that they will get my business and I would suggest them to anyone.

I got a coupon for a bike tuneup at Black Rock Bicycles so I thought I’d give them a try. I called several times to make an appointment. They never answered their phone, I just got an answering machine. I left messages asking for them to call me back. Even drove out there one saturday to drop off my bike. The«shop» wasn’t open. There was a sign on the door stating that they were out of town, racing on days when they promoted they were open, and«sorry for the inconvenience» I left several more messages, never got a return call. The place is in a storage garage. Maybe they don’t need business, I tried, they didn’t.

Don’t let the name fool you — this isn’t just a black rock/burning man bike shop. This is a full service shop with friendly and knowledgable staff. They tuned up my son’s BMX bike in a snap and made it better than new. I cannot recommend them enough.

Black Rock Bicycles is the only way to go when renting a bicycle for Burning Man! They provide high quality cruisers that are perfect on the playa! The staff at Black Rock Bicycles is extremely professional, friendly and helpful. They have all the accessories that you need including seat covers, EL wire and blinky lights so you don’t get run over by an art car. Just make sure to rent your bicycles online before August! They closed rentals toward the end of July and we just barely made the deadline!

I only wish that Unilocal allowed a 10 Star rating. I discovered Randy and his crew when I needed to rent a bike for Burning Man years ago. I’ve been coming back ever since and wouldn’t dream of ever going anywhere else. This are trustworthy, dependable and good people of the highest order. Cannot say enough. This is the place and Randy is the man!

I really can’t sing the praises of Randy and his whole crew at Black Rock Bikes highly enough or loudly enough. I don’t live in Reno, but I come in a couple times a summer to see family and to ride N*, the N Trail, Tyrolean, etc. And every time I come to town because I am a large mammal who fancies himself a DH racer, I tend to bust some part that is usually harder to find than a virgin on prom night. Case in point today, Friday the 13th of July. Wouldn’t you know my fantastic bike luck on this trip would give out today? I get to the mountain, pull out my bike, and low and behold the end cap on my front axle is MIA. For a thinner, more talented rider maybe this wouldn’t cause pauses and internal contestations about riding, but when you’re a big man with no real bike talent, you have to think ahead. I make a few calls, and no one has it. Then, out of the back of my addled and slightly hungover mind, I remember Randy and his crew. I get on the phone, and they have the exact part I need. So 30 minutes, $ 25, and 20 «why me lords» later, I have the part I need and I can keep the road show of stupidity and gravity defiance rolling for another day. Thanks a lot guys, you rock!

Randy and his family well, made me feel like apart of their family. During the craziness of Burning Man you would think that thousands of people descending on this establishment would stress them out, nope. They’re located in a residential area, so if you feel like you’re going the wrong way, you’re not. Keep in mind that this is a neighborhood and try to refrain from angering the neighbors with bunch of hoopla. However, Randy being the smart dude that he is employees most of the neighborhood kids to smooth over any ruffled feathers of the parental units aka home owners. I rented a Thule rack that fits 4 bikes(3 comfortably). Randy not only helped me get the rack on our rented SUV, but gave me tips on how to prevent theft and our bikes from getting scattered across the road. For $ 75 I received the best product and customer service. What more could a Burner want?

Best bike shop in town if you are into downhill/freeride. Very knowledgeable and friendly. They stock a lot of specialty items that other shops dont have. They got me on the mountain same day even with such short notice. This bike shop really is as good as it gets! Thanks Black Rock!
