Italian food? Uh yeah I don’t think so. Ok this is strike two for me regarding food establishments at GSR. Strike one Cantina and now this. I did have some high hopes on the place being it’s a Charlie Palmer restaurant and all so I figured the standard would be good. Hey Charlie, you may want to visit this place and oversee the chefs. If my name was attached to something like this I’d be concerned. The food that is served here is lacking quality on so many levels. For the image this restaurant is conveying and the prices they charge, you all should be ashamed of yourself. Olive Garden is more going on that you guys and thats for real. The service staff was ok. They were eager to please, but to me they came off somewhat generic and insecure. Lots of young kids work here and personally I was hoping for some older more mature waiters, but its all good you gotta start somewhere in life. My friend and I were the last to dine here as it was about 9pm, so we just got in under the wire. The menu looked appealing enough, however, the food is pricey so when I saw that my expectations were high. I started with an appetizer of the stuffed mushrooms. They were stuffed with dry yucky cheap tasting ground beef on a bed of some kind of red sauce. Not impressed so far and I quickly began to realize what I was in for: an over inflated menu with no regard for quality and inflated prices… great. Next, I ordered the caprese salad. It’s the most basic simple salad you can have: tomatoes check, basil check, olive oil check, vinaigrette check, fresh sliced mozzarella cheese check. Their version was pitiful. Bland flavorless tomatoes sliced thick(I like my tomatoes sliced thin and you guys should consider getting heirlooms they are more flavorful and fragrant). There was no basil on the salad, just one tiny little piece. Come on thats the best part! Just chop some basil and sprinkle it all over the salad already! I thought the saving grace would be the cheese and I was willing to forgive everything else if the cheese was good. The mozzarella cheese they used was a big gloppy drippy mess sitting in a pool of olive oil. I was in awe of what they are trying to pass on to customers. Finally for the main course, I had the eggplant parmesan. Upon landing on my table I looked at it and it did not look appealing to me at all. So I take a bit and lets see how do I describe this? It tasted like its been sitting under a heat lamp all day, cheap ingredients, too bready with no sign of eggplant, old tasting, and the quality was lacking in spades. I also had a side of grilled asparagus which also wasn’t cooked enough and was bland and dry with no seasoning. This to me was the final straw. When the waiter came and asked how everything is, I was honest and said that this meal is not good and I refused to eat any more. I then requested the manager and told the manager that I was not happy at all with anything I ate and went into detail about my experience. The manager was cool and attentive and apologized about the food and adjusted the bill accordingly. I was then asked if I wanted anything else to which I replied,“no”. My friend ate her food, but wasn’t impressed either. Do your self a favor and go to La Strada at the El Dorado. Those guys get it right.

First time here, service was sad– slow, exhausted looking servers. Not sure if that is typical or if it was a pre-concert rush. The lightly battered fried calamari was very good, as was the melt-in-your-mouth osso bucco. Tried the penne alla vodka with shrimp added and it was very average-bland. I had to ask for garlic powder to give it flavor.

I was staying at the Grand Sierra last week and craving some good Italian food… man did this place hit the spot. We sat at the bar and must have eaten 3 or 4 baskets of their wonderful garlic bread before our entrees came out. My plate of lasagna was fantastic. We also really enjoyed drinking our bottle of wine and listening to some random local guy beside us at the bar. It kept us entertained. I’d definitely check this place out again if I make it back to Reno.

We made reservations for a nice dinner for a bachelorette weekend and thought this place looked good… it was awesome! We were greeted right away by our busser, justin, and he was great. Awesome customer service skills, always checked in on us, and a nice smile! We got the spaghetti, pasta al vodka, chicken parm, and a Caesar salad — EVERYTHINGWASGOOD! And the best part, they brought out some of the best garlic bread as a starter! The only complaint is that the salad was possibly the smallest I’ve ever seen, but tasted good! Our server was also great, but I forgot his name. Overall awesome experience. Can’t wait for our next trip to reno!

Came here for a friend’s birthday. We weren’t blown away by the food or service, but it had a great atmosphere. Ambiance: low lighting, modern design. This place is great for a group prior to going to a show or the club but also provides a nice atmosphere for a date. Service: sub-par for the level of dining they are serving. The waiter was friendly, but after taking our order we didn’t see him. Our drinks sat empty and even after catching him and another gentleman, no one got a refill prior to leaving. It was our friend’s birthday but we were so irritated and unimpressed, we left without dessert. Food: Their menu online does not match what was offered. Sadly my friend was looking forward to a pasta dish and the waiter informed her that the menu was old. It would be nice if they’d update this. –Calamari: this was tasty and came with a couple of sauces. The aioli wasn’t that flavorful but the marinara was yummy. –Octopus appetizer: the octopus was thinly sliced, like prosciutto. All it tasted like was a mouthful of lemon. Our party didn’t enjoy this one. –Bucatini: This is spaghetti with a hole running down the middle. It came with a pork sausage sauce. The sauce could have used more seasoning and the sausage was sparse. –Seafood pasta: this was a special for the evening. Numerous people in our party ordered this and it was amazing. Full of seafood and covered in a creamy, cheesy red sauce. We all wished we had ordered this. –North Beach Cioppino: This was huge! It came in a large rectangular dish and was covered with a puff pastry. The seafood itself was alright, but the presentation was pretty neat and the person who ordered this enjoyed dipping the puff pastry in the sauce.

Briscola, translation means trump, as in trump card. Located in the Grand Sierra Resort, this trendy Italian restaurant suggests making a reservation, especially on the weekends. We were seated in the front of the restaurant, off to the side in a little private area that has two tables. I really cannot tell you how big the restaurant is since we were in the front. I can tell you that it was extremely crowded. We had a six pm reservation and were promptly seated. Drink orders were taken as we perused the menu. The décor and lighting are very modern and inviting. I do not often take pictures of lights and décor but it all just blended so well. I ordered a Caesar salad to start with and the main course was gnocchi with marinara sauce. The salad was good, but the dressing was very light. I like a stronger tasting Caesar. The gnocchi was perfect. Gnocchi is a potatoe dumpling cooked and tossed in a sauce of your choice. The gnocchi was so tender and basically melted in your mouth. I will definitely be back if we are going to a concert.

We didn’t have too many choices for restaurants to eat last night! We were sorta stuck going here! It was really good, better than expected! Lol The prefixed menu was surprisingly good & the duck was great! And the best bonus was it was super late & they treated us like their first customer! Jeanie was the best server ever! She was funny, sweet & helpful Always there for us all night long. And it was way pass closing time! She is my favorite waitress of all! I would go back just for her :-) :-) The restaurant is very clean. Very nice looking restaurant! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year’s everyone My picture of her is posted too lol lol

I got the margarita pizza for take out. It was made perfectly and tasted amazing. Exactly what I was looking for. For 12 dollars you get 6 slices. Although cheap, very well made.

Wow That could be my review. This place is fantastic. Had a reservation on a Friday evening, was seated promptly. Waiter brought garlic bread, it was delicious. We decided on the specials and split a Cesar salad, which was brought out on 2 plates, garnished with a Parmesan crisp… very nice. I had sea bass with diver scallops, my sweetie had the filet mignon… these were 2 of the best plates of food I’ve ever had… cooked perfectly, looked gorgeous on the plate. Mine came with shells with basil, hers came with asparagus risotto, I would be happy just eating a bowl of the risotto, it was that good. Finished off with mango cheesecake, it was presented nicely and was wonderful, very light and fluffy. Service was attentive, very well done One of the best dinners we have ever had from start to finish To sum up, if you are in Reno at the Grand Sierra, you have to try this place.

This restaurant is considerably better than the reviews I read maybe as good or better than any Italian restaurant that we have eaten at in Vegas or LA. I had the salmon, grilled asparagus, bruschetta, and the house salad. All epic. The service was fast and on the spot.

This meal was amazingly delicious and priced right too. Had eggplant Parmesan and the portion was large. The house salad was delicious with a tasty balsamic vinaigrette. My husband had the baked ziti with a huge portion as well. The ambience was nice and the décor modern. I would definitely go back here again.

Wow! The four of us loved this place. The service was great– really over the top and very attentive. Cody, our server, knew his stuff and was always providing for us. The food was excellent. We saw the poor reviews so were hesitant going but we had a wonderful time with great ambiance, wonderful food and super service. This was our first time at Casino and Briscola.

Why would you say on your menu«a tower of tiger prawns and scallops» if it is actually an appetizer with one prawn and one scallop?

Was in town of the Rib Cook Off and decided to take a break from the meat feast… so we looked this place up on Open Table and got a bonus 1,000 point check in so even better. We were seated immediately and everyone was very friendly. Our will have to give props to our server Brandon he was and has to be one of the friendliest servers I have had in a long time. But back to the food I would give it a 4 star but the service was a 5 star for sure. I ordered the linguini with clams and my lady ordered the chicken pica tat and both dishes were very good. The best part was dipping their delicious bread in that clam broth… could have just ate that for dinner. Either way great dinner, but the only dig I would give is the very expensive wine prices? It is crazy I charge $ 12 for a glass of Rodney Strong. This is a $ 20 bottle of wine at the grocery store. Half of our food bill was on 2 glasses if wine! I would suggest bringing in your own bottle and pay their corkage fee. Either way good place to get a goo meal in the GSR.

How does this place only have 3 stars? My Mom and I came for dinner tonight, and both thought it was great! We ordered the calamari and the«giant spicy meatball» appetizers, house salads(came with our meals), chicken cacciatore and veal saltimbocca. **The meatball was good, but was supposed to be served with bread, and wasn’t. I had to ask for it. Also, it was NOT spicy… at all! My mom thinks garlic is too spicy(lol), and even she said it wasn’t at all spicy. They call it «giant» in reality it was about the size of a peach. Definitely not worth $ 5.00… **Calamari was really good. Light and crispy, and a generous portion, worth the $ 9 **House salads were really good. The balsamic dressing was delicious! **Chicken Cacciatore was good, but spicy. It was served with really tasty mushroom risotto.($ 17) **Veal Saltimbocca was GREAT. I had never had it before, and was so glad I gave it a try! It was served with veggies and mashed potatoes.($ 19) I had a $ 50 comp, so the meal came out FREE! I would definitely go back even without a comp though. It was delicious, and we left STUFFED! Great ambiance too. It doesn’t have a casino restaurant feeling. Would be a great date spot. Service wasn’t anything special, and I’m pretty sure our server forgot about us towards the end of the meal, but all in all, a great experience.

This restaurant is located inside the Grand Sierra Casino… and even though it tries to be classy and nice, it really was just overprice for me. The service was very good and the waiter was attentive. I cannot say the same about the food, I ordered the Veal Parmesan and it felt greasy more than crispy. One of my friend tried the Gnocchis and the pesto sauce was too heavy for the pasta(assuming the Gnocchies are heavy by itself). The reaction of the table was like: «…yes, it’s ok…». None of the plates had the«Wow» factor… like when sometimes you go to an italian restaurant and the sauce is so good you want to lick the plate. I’m saying all this because supposedly is a «Charlie Palmer» restaurant and we have the right to be more demanding. Something that really got me dissapointed(again, for the quality of the restaurant)… was that the wine we ordered(Hedges) was in the Syrah category, when in reality… it had only 10% Syrah grapes and like 40% of Cabernet and another high percentage of Merlot. So it had to be in the«Blends» section.(look at my photos) The desserts were the same as the food… very bland. If you are in the Grand Sierra… just go to Johny Rockets and you will pay for what you’ll get.
