We were at the GSR for the Pentatonix concert. The concert was a sold out general admission show so we had to arrive early so we could get some decent seats. Arriving early meant that we had lots of time to kill in a line. What is a good way to kill time? Playing cards! I headed over to the gift shop to get some of the cheap«played in an actual casino» cards. $ 1.75? Not cheap, but still reasonable. They should be like $ 1 at the most. Anyway as I walked about the giftshop I noticed that they had all the«essentials» that a hotel resort should have in stock. Bottles of alcohol at inflated rates, candy bars, many different types of toiletries, locally made snacks and sweets and kitschy souvenirs. The gift shop really more reminds me of an airport based store, a sales floor too densely packed for it’s particular patrons. At the airport it’s people lugging too much luggage to save on the highway robbery known as baggage fees. At Essentials it’s people who have been drinking since 9:00pm the night before and have a vague concept of balance in general. So yes, the guy who came up and bumped his way to the centrally located register probably could use a little more room to stumble up to his wife and interrogate her. If you are staying here and forgot something, I would check here before walking across the street(¼ mile away) to the Walmart for that needed item. If you aren’t staying at the GSR… what the heck are you even reading this review for?
