Our first experience here was a pleasant one. We came for lunch because the locals say this place is hip, the food is great and it’s healthy. They say the menu is fusion type with an Asian influence. I won’t say no to Asian fusion… I had the Teriyaki kimchi chicken sandwich $ 10 and the girlfriend had the Goddess salad with Chicken with lemon tahini. The sandwich was good, the kimchi was mild unlike Korean version. The server said the soup of the day(cabbage & onion) is marvelous so I had a bowl. she added that the soup was vegan. That doesn’t matter to me because I’m a carnivore but I will eat anything. We also ordered a Vegan cupcake with chocolate coconut frosting. All in all, this place is cool.

My friend is vegan, I’m not so that is the only reason I go there. Not anymore the staff is rude, never smile, and personable with other customers but not us and overpriced!

The food was great but the service and wait time was Less than pleasant. Seems like they need to have a staff pow wow on logistics and customer service

A friend suggested this café for a lunch date a while back and I cannot stay away. My husband is obsessed with their Peanut Butter Deluxe smoothie. And while Its an obsession I cannot afford to indulge — their bread is what dreams are made of. I love to get their soup due jour over brown rice. Yum! Whether its Breakfast or Lunch — you can’t go wrong at Café Deluxe.

I love this little café. Currently my favorite dish is the garam masala bowl, but the veggie burger is pretty awesome. I love that they’re dedicated to organic, local, and sustainably raised food, and the renovated former laundromat is pretty cool too. I’ve also been here for the Indian food they do on Friday and Saturday evenings. It’s called Thalia, and they do an all-you-can-eat style. It’s really awesome, and I highly recommend it.

I’m never disappointed in this place. Yes, it’s always busy and I have to wait. However, when the employees are friendly and the food is beyond delicious, it is obviously worth it. I had the veggie scramble and the flavors are so fresh and complex, I can’t get enough. My wife loves the vegan French toast with strawberries. Daily specials are written on the board, along with the current kombucha flavors. Beer, wine, smoothies, and coffee drinks are also on the menu. The matcha late is delightfully different.

New favorite breakfast spot in Reno. Great selection including vegetarian and vegan options on their everyday menu that aren’t afterthoughts, and tempting specials. Excellent service, cool space, great food, fresh ingredients, solid prices, good music(selection and conversation-friendly volume). Husband got breakfast tacos, I got vegan French toast with almond butter and banana batter. Both were great. We’ll definitely be back.

Great food, bad service. This could of been one of my local favs. It seems like none of the women working there want to be there. If it was based on the food alone I would of rated it a 4 or 5. I love a place with great vegan options! The service is 1 or 2 stars. I dread seeing a specific server, she is miserable. Generally, they’re not pleasant, informative or helpful. Sometimes they’re rude. Ordering it Togo next time. Maybe I’ll be able to skip out on some of the attitude

Amazing little café in Reno. Came here and ordered the Kombucha which normally I hate but their roots flavored one with ginger was phenomenal and tasted more like a less sweetened version of ginger ale. Also ordered their Deluxe Scramble, Vegan French Toast and their soup of the day which was an eggplant minestrone that reached down deep to my soul and comforted me. They did have a weird cleaning solvent or bathroom cleaner smell when we went in, hopefully not remnants of the laundromat that was here previously. The staff was awesome though our at least the guy who was our server /waiter. He was enthusiastic about the food and have is kombucha samples and recommended the vegan French toast as if he was speaking about a good friend of his for a blind date proposal. Best part is he was totally right about the flavors and taste and everything here was phenomenally tasty, healthy and fresh. The French toast is vegan based on the lack of eggs used with the bread being a normal toast but the began based fake egg mixture has banana and almonds and it just pairs so well and is complementary to the syrup. Delectable. I had the deluxe scramble which is generous in portion with avocados and other tasty veggies in there. I will be coming back to Reno just to eat here. Such a breath of fresh air quite literally away from the casino food and cigarette smoke. Awesome place and highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience at Café DeLuxe yesterday. I definitely love the fact that you can get breakfast at anytime(but they are only open until 3 in the afternoon). I often love breakfast for any meal. I loved my Egg Tacos! They are on organic soft corn tortillas and topped with cheddar cheese, one egg(on each of the two tacos), black bean salsa, sour cream, avocado, and Housemade Hottie Sauce. It also comes with a side of home fries. These made me say«Yum!» a few times while I ate them. My hubby had the Cobb Salad and my son had the Basic Breakfast with bacon. They both said that they really liked theirs. We also had a starter of chips and salsa. I wanted more salsa, because it was so fresh and tasty. They have A LOT of gluten free options here! Everything we had is gluten free without any changes, except my son’s Basic Breakfast. Almost all of their menu items can be made gluten free and/or Vegan. Everything is clearly marked on their menus(as being GF and/or V), too. I had been wanting to go here for a little while, but when I discovered that they are the same people who run the Electric Blue Elephant(one of my favorite area food trucks)… I had to practically run there since I have been missing EBC during the cold months(EBC is seasonal). After a lady at another table had her meal delivered to her table, another lady at the counter and I both had to ask the waitress what she ordered. It looked amazing! She had the Deluxe Scramble. I will definitely be trying that soon! From their website: «Café DeLuxe is committed to using GMO free, organic, locally sourced, and humanely raised products… All items with bread can be made with Gluten-Free(GF) bread or wrapped in a collard leaf. Almost all items can also be made Vegan(V) by substituting with tofu, vegan sour cream, Daiya cheese, and Veganaise.»

Ha. Ha Ha! Ha Ha Ha! I was just complaining the other day about someones review not being up to date. It was a 2 star review for a soft opening four years ago… now the place pretty much isn’t like that at all. I wasn’t really complaining… just noticing that it needs to be dusted off and updated. Now I laugh. I laugh at myself for pretty much doing something similar. No… my review wasn’t 2 stars… but it wasn’t the 5 stars that I believe it should be! In my previous review I talked about a business that is almost completely different. So now… I’m gonna talk about a business that I have come to love. Without a doubt this is my favorite restaurant in Reno. How can I know? Because I go here almost as much as all the other restaurants I eat at combined. We almost have to eat here weekly. I love the Deluxe Scramble, the One Eyed Jack, the Soups, The Quiche, the Kombucha, The French Toast and I especially love the Cabbage Sesame Hand Salad. That darn thing I actually have had dreams about. But the best thing about Café Deluxe is Megan. She rocks as my favorite waitress in town. No one is more fun, real and awesome to be around. So if you check the place out, tell Megan hi from me. Unless of course I am sitting at the bar… I’m the one with the«Warning: Unilocal Critic» shirt on eating some cheesy poofs.

Rich has done amazing work starting, operating and owning DeLux Café. The Café is located south of the roundabout where Wells Avenue starts off of S. Virginia St. The building is the old DeLux Laundry building. There are a few apartments and Rich’s café. I have had many of the items on the menu. My favorite is the egg scramble. You get a healthy portion of organic eggs, and your choice of any three item(i.e. tomatoes, onions, sausage„ bacon and a couple other items). Most all ingredients used are organic and locally sourced. If not locally sourced they are coming from over the hill in the Bay Area. Rich also has a god truck called Electric Blue Elephant. One of the best food trucks here in Reno. If you have not tried Café DeLux you are missing out. I rate this restaurant 5 stars.

8 – 3 are their hours. As a huge group we have had MBC there. Recently the hubby and I returned to try their lunch, which was free thanks to Reno Bites Week and Unilocal.Anytime you eat here make you go hungry– every dish I have had or seen are generous portions. My Cobb salad had plenty of fresh ingredients and I was still eating well after my hubby was done. He enjoyed the chicken teriyaki sandwich with a side of slaw. The food here has great flavor and is always fresh. And the bonus for me they carry Folk Brewing company kombucha. Health conscious give this spot a try.

I was craving some healthier eating recently and have been wanting to check this place out. First I went to another local spot(not naming names) and had a poor service experience and noticed prices that seemed way too high, so I left before ordering. Glad I came here instead! It’s a nice cozy interior, and a good amount of variety on the menu. I opted for the Garam Masala bowl not really knowing what it was. A blend of brown rice, sweet potatoes, some type of sauce, other misc veggies. For $ 9 it was a really big plate and I couldn’t finish it all! The food itself I’d give a 4 of 5. Tasty but not life-changing. Friendly staff, reasonable cost and pleasant location bumps it up to a 4.5. I’ll round up to 5 :-) I look forward to coming back for breakfast one day.

We were in town to visit friends and thought we would check out the local vegan food. The food was great the service horrible. If I had the choice I wouldn’t give a tip. Our waitress was rude and it wasn’t just her the other waitress there was pretty awful too. I asked for honey and I only got it when my tea was ¾ empty & she slammed it on the table very rudely. The building is cool, inside is neat think modern day hip diner vibe.

So good to see an older run down building transformed into a successful business! Years ago the dry cleaners were successful… then years of an empty building. now a Great café!!! Walking in you can still see the value of the old building. From the original bricks to all the pictures and memorials to the old business. The open beams and the black and white pictures make us native Nevadans proud of the history. The waitstaff is young and friendly. They don’t just have their own tables, they all work together as a team to ensure that everyone is served. Our water and coffee cups were never empty. The food is very traditional food, with a vegan/vegetarian option available. This is a big plus when we try to take friends out with us that have these dietary restrictions. The food itself is filling and is definitely made one plate at a time. No assembly line production. Feel free to pick what you want with each dish. Substitutions are no problem! Make sure you do not go during the rush hour. The seating is limited and the customers are so comfortable they do not want to leave, nor are they pressured to do so!!!

I’m seriously picky about my breakfast — maybe because it’s my favorite meal of the day, but it’s really hard for me to find an amazing breakfast. And Café Deluxe didn’t fit the bill either. Our waitress was a little cold to us when we came in, but when a friend mentioned something about it, she was apologetic. We ordered coffee and orange juice, but only the coffee made it out to us. So, we re-ordered the orange juice and waited again. The orange juice tastes right out of a bottle, really not worth it at all. I decided on the deluxe scramble with broccoli, mushrooms, and chicken sausage. It’s a pretty big plate, but overall just disappointing. I think the broccoli is actually broccoli rabe, much more bitter than I expected and it really detracted from everything else. It was also more stem than florets. The chicken sausage was pretty sparse. There’s just really nothing special going on here. Maybe breakfast isn’t their strong suit, so I’d be willing to come back and give lunch a try. Their salads and sandwiches sound great. Maybe I’ll be able to bump them up a star(or more)?

Alrighty, I have been to Café DeLuxe multiple times and cannot believe that I have some how left out their review! Sorry man! I must begin by saying that I love Café DeLuxe for multiple reasons. First, it is a great place to work. They have free wi-fi and I can sit either outside if it is nice or inside the adorable restaurant. Second, I love how fresh all the products are they use for their food and how they have some many healthy options! It just makes the food taste that much better. The variety is awesome! I have had multiple meals at Café DeLuxe and think the frittata with its potato crust and the homefries are amazing! Definitely a must try if you are going for the first time. The home made chai and smoothies are also good choices to check out! My husband also really enjoys Café DeLuxe which makes it a great place to bring the family. As I mentioned previously they have wi-fi which makes it a popular place for me and my colleagues to be able to get some work done while having some great food. Some of our best work has came out of that place! Keep up the amazing establishment you have going Café DeLuxe!

Only in Reno will a laundromat convert to a snazzy café, right? With covered outdoor seating, a long bar, booths, low tops, and high tops, most anyone can grab a preferable seat. Great service is easy to come by as it seems they hire staff who have great personalities, hospitality and customer service. The fam and I opt to sit at the bar because we like seeing everything in action. I’ve also sat at the low tops with friends who were trying this venue for the first time. Everything I’ve had for breakfast or lunch has been nothing short of outstanding. They use mostly organic and local ingredients, and offer many vegetarian and vegan options. But what really makes them extraordinary is that their food is made with love… you can just taste the difference. At least, that’s my experience and I hope it will be yours. They have daily specials so be sure to check out the specials board when you come in. And they use hi-tech POS, so pay your check at the counter. Separate checks are easy to do at the end of your meal this way, too. They get their coffee supplied by the great local roasters across the street, Magpie Roasters, and the two venues let you bring the other’s products to where you decide to eat or drink. I think it’s fantastic to see these two support one another… just be careful using the crosswalk! I look forward to coming back to Café Deluxe each time and I will definitely be telling others this is a must try!

Looking for a spot that can please the vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, no dairy eaters, paleos, and people who don’t care about any of that in your life? Well look no further than Café Deluxe! This restaurant has a menu that can cater to it all, and leave every happy, a little bit more healthy, and totally full. Before I met Rich and Katie aboard the Electric Blue Elephant, I thought vegetarian food had to be boring. These two have shown me time and time again that not only can it be delicious, but it can be as inventive or more inventive than some food with far fewer restrictions. Most importantly, they’ve shown me it can be completely craveable! Gotta start with service though. Artie is the man! Being on a super restrictive diet I had A LOT of questions, all of which he answers with ease. He was quick to suggest ways to dress up the dishes with additions that fit in the diet too! smiling, timely, friendly, and efficient, this dude is a model server! At Deluxe, they have really stepped up the game with a recent menu update. I’m doing Whole 30 again, and found myself in need of lunch this Sunday between events. So I grabbed a seat at Deluxe and ordered up the Goddess Salad with chicken. The veggies were super fresh, crisp and full of flavor, the chicken grilled, tender and juicy, and the lemon tahini dressing was the perfect foil to it all! I’m a burger/sandwich kinda guy, but Id return to eat this salad again in a heartbeat. For dessert we enjoyed the Banana iScream, which really frozen, blended bananas that eats like ice cream! We had ours topped with fresh cut strawberries, which was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. So far I’ve enjoyed the collard wrap with egg salad, the Goddess salad, and the warm hummus sandwich, and they’ve all been great. After this last visit, Deluxe is going to earn its way into my regular rotation!
