This is the only place in Reno to stop if you are a true tea enthusiast! We had a wonderful conversation with the shop owner, Margret, who has been in this location for over 30 years. Apparently, she was the first business owner in Nevada to start importing antiques from China after Nixon eased import restrictions in the 1970’s. While the antique trade from China has started to decline, she does still maintain a small cabinet of beautiful china, tea sets, and other art in the back tea room. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this is a great place for martial art supplies if that’s what you are looking for. They have a great selection of everything from uniforms to books and DVD’s to weapons and other training gear. But alas! The tea! Margret took the time to take us through her tea collection and explain the history and composition of some of her favorites. We walked away with an ounce of Bergamot Black(Chinese earl grey), Ti Kuan Yin Oolong, and a wonderful Jasmine blend she recommended for help with sleep. After we had made our selection, she was kind enough to send us away with a few samples of her other favorites and a pamphlet on proper tea steeping and preparation. All in all, this is a wonderful shop to visit with a knowledgeable owner who is more than willing to share with those who will take the time to listen. We will be making another trip back here to stock up on some more wonderful tea just as soon as we’ve finished with our current supply.
