Since Stitch in Time doesn’t carry All The Things I want, but only a lot of them, I rated it 4 stars. Customer service is good. They probably warrant 5 stars for their selection of threads in various fibers from various manufacturers. I don’t tend to purchase patterns because I hunt down antique patterns online, purchase full books of patterns, or just make my own patterns. Stitch in Time is really the only specialist needlework store in town. For just about anything else, you have to shop online/by mail order or go to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Lemme sum up: Very good selection of raw materials, less than average pattern selection, good customer service As if I don’t have enough to do, I decided to pick up an embroidery kit and make something nice for the house. Again, I love supporting independent shops, so I sought out Stitch in Time. While the staff was very friendly, and probably highly knowledgeable, I just couldn’t find anything that interested me. Shame, really. This is a needwork/embroidery specialty shop. That said, you can find just about any kind of floss your little heart desires. However, their pattern selection is very… well…grammy. Nothing caught my eye as decorative or tasteful in an art deco or abstract fashion. Plenty of folksy, cutesy, Biblical stuff but nothing that stepped outside of what you’d expect at a nursing home. Mehhhh… To that end, I would recommend Stitch in Time if you need floss, fabric, hoops, or any other basic for creating your cross stitch or needlepoint project. But don’t expect to find modern designs or kits here.
