While on a road trip to Nevada I was starving and wanted something filling. Seen BBQ on Unilocal and checked in to try. It’s set up almost like a «Fast Food BBQ» so it’s a smaller place. You walk in order and have a seat food was ready quick! The cashier/server was Jennifer and she was awesome. We didn’t know what to get and first time visitors so it took a while to order but Jennifer helped us out about what was her favorites so we were set. Got a rib plate with BBQ beans and their loaded mashed potatoes and we also got a brisket burger. Everything was amazing you also can get extra sauce if need be and they offer free ice cream cones?! YESPLZ. Ended up shooting the shit with the server since we were travelers from the Bay Area, super nice and made us feel welcome. All and all I would recommend for sure and next time we are in town we are stopping in again to grub and say hello!

This location used to be our go to for BBQ before friends introduced us to BJ’s BBQ in Sparks, NV near Victorian Square. Today I came in because I had received a coupon in the mail and my dad wanted ribs from here, so I said whatever I could have a bbq sandwich and kill two birds with one stone since I had to be in the area anyway! Let’s just say food is not the problem here its customer service tonight particularly James. He over charged me and would have not known, but I asked for my receipt. Not cool, when I asked him about it, gave me this crazy look then took my tip I left and returned it to me. I was going to do that anyway! You should train your employees how to properly operate the cash register because it took him 10 minutes to cash me out and did so incorrectly! A note to his employer, I am not sure if drug tests are administered prior to employment, but he was too high strung to not be on something. While waiting for my food I stood a few tables back where you can see into the kitchen. I observed another female employee just drinking and conversing with the lady who was making my food with no hair net ect. and James did seem to be fond of me, but he seems like he would be the shady type, to do something to my food, so I watched close by. He slammed my food into my bag and brought it over to me. I’ll stick to BJ’s BBQ for all my BBQ needs where they know how to treat their locals.

Typically, my fiancé and I really like dickies. The staff here has been nice on a fairly consistent basis. Unfortunately my fiancé has been up all night with vomiting and diarrhea since having dickies for dinner last night. He had meat, and I didn’t, thankfully because I’m 13 weeks pregnant and really don’t feel like getting food poisoning. Sorry, but we won’t be returning to dickies after that.(For the record he had ham and brisket.)

I’m a BBQ snob, but when you gotta have ribs and you can’t smoke them yourself for 6 hours, you have to go out. I had a ½ rack with fries and a drink. Pretty standard order and it was pretty good stuff. A little bit of heat on the standard sauce was very, very nice. Ribs were tasty. I’ll be back for ribs and other things. Friendly service, too.

Delicious! I love this place. Very friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. The pulled pork sandwich is my favorite! Their meats are always amazingly tender and they have three self serve sauces to choose from, so you can have as much as you want! It is also very affordable. The free ice cream is a must; it is always the perfect finish to the meal. Dickies is my go to whenever I want a barbecue fix.

Rally good BBQ, and this location has exceptional service. Although fast casual, the staff here is the best and will take care of you.

I have no idea how people like this place. I think their BBQ is pathetic. Its very bland, dry, and has no character. Moving here from Texas I do have high expectations for my BBq choices, and this is not even close.

This was our second visit to this bbq spot. I could go on and on about the food at this place. We got the family pack with two meats, three sides, 6 rolls and sauces. The brisket that is tender and well seasoned… almost, the chicken has a good flavor but is just a little drier than I would prefer but I know I’m picking nits. The onion rings are really tiny and batter fried, and really enhance the flavor of the brisket when eaten together. The potato salad is definitely the item to skip unless you like more creaminess than flavor. The cole slaw was actually pretty good! Not too much mayo overload to cover the flavor of the other ingredients. The waffle fries are just meh. Nothing special but my kids like them. All of that is fine but the thing that will keep me driving from Sparks to this place, bypassing the other locations that are closer, is the attitude of the manager, Garrett. This guy has a serious heart for customer service. During our first visit, he came out and talked with us and welcomed us to the area. He’s very personable and went the extra mile to make sure we were totally satisfied with our meal. He even ran next door to buy lemons for our water when he realized they had run out! When we walked in this time, he called out to us and reminded us of a joke we made during our first visit which was over a month ago! And that was while managing a large group that was placing their order at the same time. Talk about a memory! He’s got my vote over and over. Oh yeah, and they have free soft-serve ice cream! And kids eat free on Sundays! How many more benefits can you stack up?!

Great salad! The people who work here go out of their way to help you. They were fast, kind, made new tea for me and ice cream for my kids. They are so nice!

One of the best of its kind, and a very good restaurant on its own merits, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is a location you can truly partake satisfaction in visiting, if only occasionally, with excellent food at a great price, and consistency in its quality. Food quality: The barbecue served at Dickey’s is amazingly tasty, with the slow-smoked flavor bursting with every single bite. Usually, I order the Rib Plate, with sides of Waffle Iron Fries and Creamy Coleslaw. Plates themselves come with a roll, some complimentary vegetables(usually onions), which are all outstanding. The ribs are truly to be savored, and have just enough barbecue sauce, with a perfect tanginess to it. I sometimes order other meat plates, and, while they may not be as large, they are almost or equally as satisfying. And, to top it all off(this may or may not still be true), there is/was a soft serve ice cream dispenser — usable at no charge! That’s really good, too, and it’s a fitting conclusion to a barbecue of paradise. Food quantity: Simply put, filling and able to stave off any craves for a long time — with the additional touch of the bread and vegetables. It’s not only the meat plates that are so delightful; there also exist great deals on combos and whatnot. The prices for standard meals are very reasonable, and they allow you not to regret a thing. As it should be, and better — made so by the relative scarcity of this type of establishment. Were it not for the high quality of the food, the prices still would have been highly decent! Service: No major complaints here, really. The food all comes on time, and all requests are easily fulfilled. The staff even clean the tables for you after you leave — certainly reason to tip at least some! The only minor drawback that I could possibly think of is that you need to fill your own drinks — but, then again, this place isn’t a full-scale restaurant, and the prices are lowered, so there will be certain obligations. Besides, complaining about needing to fill a drink is almost like complaining about needing to order in the first place — especially in this type of establishment. Overall, really good. Atmosphere: Not fancy or upscale, but what were they trying to go for, here? A Texas-style Barbecue Pit — and they hit they nail right on the head, I’d have to say.(After all, this place is called Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.) The obligatory sports TVs at the corners notwithstanding, the authenticity permeates and enhances the dining experience, with olden decorations and other flair. Even the smallest touches were included here, including Western-style music played ambiently over the tables at times. Overall: A favorite of mine in Reno ever since I’ve moved years ago. Dickey’s offers some of the best barbecue I’ve tasted, alongside superb prices and a mostly-true-to-Texas atmosphere(the TVs in the corners really can’t be helped, and even they add something to the experience in an abstract way), making it a surefire place to return to — once in a while, as the food here should stave off any cravings for a long time. It’s just that good. If only more restaurants would follow the example put forth by this semi-hidden gem; that greatness is independent from flaunt, style, and pomp!(Not to mention, as a final aside, kids eat completely free of charge on Sundays!) Pros/Cons: Pros: + Amazing barbecue plates… + …with portions that are just right… + …at equally impressive, bargain prices. + Many meal possibilities + The atmosphere is very Texan/Western, and demonstrative of the effort in its implementation + No real issues with service + A semi-hidden gem amidst a scarcity of low-profile establishments +(Perhaps defunct) Free soft-serve ice cream + Kids eat free on Sundays! Cons: — You need to refill your own drinks… what else??? SCORES: Overall: 9.5÷10(5 star) Food quality: 9.5÷10 Food quantity: 10⁄10 Service: 9.5÷10 Atmosphere: 9⁄10 IN A NUTSHELL: In Reno, definitely one-of-a-kind in not only its quality, but its simply being — otherwise, excellent in all aspects.

Cant get enough BBQ. This should be a food group on its own. The only negative are the prices but the specials make up for it.

If you read my reviews, you know that I appreciate and value consistency, taste, and value. This Dickey’s is consistently tasty and you get a great value. My order is usually the sandwiches and or the Brisket Burrito, no pico. $ 6 The pulled pork is probably the best I have ever had, so delicious, and I am not a big fan of pork, except bacon. The Brisket is AWESOME! The Waffle Iron fries on in my top 3 for best FRIES ever! $ 2 The Okra is BOM! $ 2 The Sweet Potato is BOM! $ 2 So many good things here and all REALFOOD! TIP — Ask for pickles, they will ask how many at least 2 per person! Tip 2 — They have daily specials every day, and you can choose any special on any day except Sunday. TIP3 — Don’t forget your free cone!

Great chain BBQ. I grew up I Texas so it brings back great memories. Family friendly descent quality food. I love the fried Okra. One of the few places in town to get okra. Decent waffle fries, ok mac and cheese. The beef brisket if great, the pulled pork is ok, and the ribs are amazing. I hope they stick around.

I’ve been to this place a few times now when we visit our cousin in Reno and they never disappoint. Their l’il hoagie was very tasty; my husband had the ribs and they were fall of the bone delicious. The green beans and bacon was also very good. And of course free ice cream(well more like ice milk but it’s free and satisfying).

I just had the worst BBQ of my life. I ordered turkey because I love turkey and it has to be pretty hard to mess up, especially if you are going to dump BBQ sauce all over it. But the place messed it up. Imagine a place known for BBQ stumbling next door to the grocery store, buying a block of turkey meant to be sliced into sandwich meat, walking it back over to the restaurant, slightly warming it and then cutting it into slabs. Then dump some mediocre BBQ sauce on it. If I wanted coagulated turkey I would, well… I never would. I ended up dumping a bunch of my own BBQ sauce all over it and when I had enough I let my cat eat the rest. He’s happy at least. To top that off my fries were soft and stale and jalapeño beans were the worst beans I’ve had. BBQ is so damn easy a kid could make it. How can a place mess it up THAT much? Maybe I’m a BBQ snob coming from Guam, but really… I just don’t think it’s that hard to make. I would have made it myself if I had a BBQ. Ok, one good thing for one star: The service. Guys were quite nice and made sure I knew about the free ice cream. Although he was also hitting on me asking for my number. «Maybe if I offer her already free ice cream she’ll give me her number?» *scoffs* Yeah right. Stay away and let this place go out of business!

Ate here for dinner Friday night(well got take out) and was pretty happy with my meal. I had the two meat deal(sliced brisket and pulled pork). It came with a roll, pickles, onions, two sides(I chose mac & cheese and jalapeño beans). The meat was good, especially the pulled pork. The brisket was nice too but it was a little softer than I’d have liked. Still both had a nice smokey flavor. I do wish there had been a bit more of each meat, especially the brisket, but the sides are a decent size so its more than enough for a meal. I could have done with 1 side and more meat, but that’s just me. The roll was really tasty and the sides were great. The mac & cheese was a particular highlight. It was excellent. Service was fast and efficient and super friendly. The restaurant itself is quite nice and I can see myself dining in in the future. Overall I was really pleased and I look forward to stopping in again and trying some more stuff.
