Went here for Valentines Day and couldn’t have been happier. The only downside is they sat my wife and I at the smallest table they had right smack in the middle of the restaurant with all the waiter traffic walking past us. That was a bit irritating since everyone was seated against the wall and we were smack in the middle of the place. Now the food. Simply exquisite. The steak kabob and the Mediterranean steak was the bomb. No other way to say it. Much better than the seasonless steak at Ruby River. Everything was exactly what I would expect from Mediterranean. Full of flavor and blackened vegetables. I especially liked the tomato and zucchini that came with the steak kabob. The onions that come with the meal will light your nose on fire if your into that kind of thing. Our service was spot on to what you would expect in a sit down restaurant. Plenty of water in our glass is a super plus because of the hot onions. Thank you all for a nice evening. We should have come to you first instead of Ruby River.

My wife and I occasionally eat lunch here after church, we are both fans of middle eastern foods. Because we stop for lunch I cannot say anything about the dinner environment, but we always find a relaxed and pleasant lunch experience. Between us both(and an occasional guest we’ve brought) I think we’ve eaten most of what’s on the menu, and I cannot think of a single item I would not recommend. The food is well prepared and made of quality ingredients. I will invoke the old saying that you can tell more about a cook from his soup than from how he grills a chop, and Chef Maruice easily clears the bar. His red lentil soup and naan is the equal of anything I’ve eated, including that prepared by professional Syian chefs. A special shout-out to the waiter Timothy, who is always helpful, professional, and willing to share his knowledge and recommendations regarding the items on the menu. He adds immensely to the experience; a true professional always shines out among the crowds of people who merely work at the job.

Incredible taste. Bought the 4 piece lamb chop to go(they are having really great business on V day) and the lamb is astounding. Minor inconvenience is that when I get home I got a fraud alert on my credit card and I am pretty sure it has something to do with my paying my lamb with that card — it was the only time I have used that card in the last several month. The payment is declined anyway so no damage is done. I am still giving 5 stars since we are talking about food — but I share this little inconvenience just so Unilocalers know.

One of my favorite restaurants in Reno. The customer service is consistent, the food is always fresh. Tonight and all, being Valentine’s Day was special. Tom our waiter took great care of my wife and I and I’m not ashamed of having took advantage of their Groupon you know. 2016 for me is about, great deals, savings and quality. You get all 3 with N&K. Thank you to the General Manager Maurice for coming to visit our table. Made for such a great experience. We will be back again.(Repeat Customer)

Late lunch lamb gyros special in a spinach wrap. Meet was tender and perfectly prepared. Little salad garnish better not eat. Wrap was a bit too much wrap for the contents otherwise good.

I’m a big fan of this place! The food just keeps calling my name. The flavors are robust and they tingle all parts of the pallet. The prices are very reasonable with quite a bit of variety. Chef Maurice comes in later in the day with free awesome dude cards: this desert option is Michael Jackson thriller bad. It comes with baklava ice cream and several other ingredients that shall remain nameless because I don’t remember them and probably couldn’t spell them. Lol It’s the perfect top off to your meal. Now the restrooms have a smell to them but they appear to be clean to me. So that’s my only knock on this place.

This is the only place in town to get some really cool food of a variety that should be TAKINGTHEWORLDBYSTORM. I personally enjoy the ambiance — it’s a funny little place: a bit worn, yet shiny; somehow cramped yet spacious. Sweet people work there, and the owner kinda reminds me of Auguste Gusteau from the Disney movie Ratatouille — only he ain’t French. Rice is usually pretty boring, really. Here you will enjoy Basmati rice with saffron! And it’s a great place for business lunches: food comes to you quickly, and isn’t heavy if you don’t want it to be, and won’t splack and splosh onto your clothes.

This is a very interesting place that we chose for lunch based on Unilocal reviews. First off, our first impression that none of the staff that we saw appeared to be from the Mediterranean area. Not a big deal, however the lady who served us probably is working after she retired from another line of work. She was short tempered and abrupt when speaking to customers, including us. Although prompt, she really didn’t seem to care about customers — like she was«just doing her job». The food was really not as tasty as I expected that it would be. We ordered the chicken and beef Koobedeh, which sounded really good. Ground meat with spices shaped into a kebab. However, the food seemed mildly seasoned and flavorless. It really just tasted like ground chicken shaped into a kebab.

This was not my favorite place just because the meat was a little greasy and the naan was burnt a little, but the«awesome dude» dessert was really great and wow the young guy who was our waiter provided some of the best service I have ever had. He was patient in explaining what all the dishes I asked about were, and when I was curious about a mint yogurt drink they sold he suggested that it was an acquired taste I probably wouldn’t like but he offered to let me sample some(sure enough I did not like it but I am happy to have tried it). Also he was consistent in checking on us but not annoying(I find this a very difficult balance to keep because I actually hate being asked how my meal is going especially while I’m eating)

This place sucks. Soup nazi chef & owner. This owner called us 2 – 3 times to reconfirm the timing earlier in the day, because we were a big party. This owner offered to keep doors open longer to accommodate us. When we showed up for scheduled reservation time, he asked to «take a stroll for 20-minutes». It was freezing 22-degrees & we had our kids. When we told him that we had confirmed reservation, he asked us to come next year. [Update on 9th Jan]: Maurice in response to your update — we were not in a hurry to get seated, but your attitude, asking us to go for a walk in freezing temperature & «let’s take matters outside» comment helped us leave. If you don’t have customer skills, can’t handle guests & get nervous when you see a big group then hire staff rather than act like an fool & make foolish statements

Everyone is so nice here, very welcoming! I’ve eaten here twice and although the food is beautiful and not bad flavor wise it’s just not as good to me as it seems to be to others. Rice is on the hard side for my liking and both times some of the chicken kebab was undercooked, raw chicken… they need to work on this! Salads are fresh but dressing was bland. That said, if you’re thinking about giving them a try do it! They’re a deserving local business with wonderful atmosphere and welcoming competent staff.

My husband, nephew and I went here for dinner after being reminded of it by a coworker. Phenomenal!!! We were seated immediately and our server was great. A very nice young man who was as excited about the cuisine as we were. We started with two of the special apps(grilled asparagus and the hot dolmas with tzatziki) and the vegetable combination(hummus, baba ganoush, dolmas, and falafel). All were delicious — the hot dolmas were especially great. The naan with salsa was great — nicely spiced. For entrees we shared the Ghormeh Sabzi, the combination chicken and beef Koobedeh, and the lamb shish kebab. They came with rice, grilled veggies, and salad. We chose the tabouli and shirazi salads. The flavors were blended nicely and it was delicious. Our server was attentive and so sweet. Chef Maurice came by our table to check on us and say hello. So nice. We had leftovers(which will be great lunch) and took an Awesome Dude dessert and some dolmas. I am glad this restaurant survived through the recession. I would like to see them expand with a patio and live music and maybe some belly dancers. That would make a wonderful summer evening. We will be back and will have to bring friends. Go — have some beer or wine, and order family style and have fun. Enjoy!!!

BLUF: Delicious Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant with a cozy, homey vibe. The House High Roller was a delicious entrée and the naan with the humus sampler was a great appetizer. After a few nights of eating over priced, buffet dinner at the Pepper Mill, my friends and I decided to cross the street to try Naan and Kabab after seeing all the good reviews on Unilocal. It was just a two minute walk out of the casino lobby so we called before we left our room and they said they would move the tables to accommodate our party of five. The restaurant is a small, cozy family run joint. Once we were seated, naan and tzatziki was brought out as complimentary starters. For an appetizer, we ordered the Hummus Sampler which was a appetizer with four different hummus’s: house hummus, roasted red bell pepper, cilantro, and jalapeño. The naan was made in the restaurant and was the best bread I’ve had in a long time. For my main course, I ordered the House High Roller which was a kabab with marinated steak(cooked rare of course) and prawn(or salmon if you choose). The kabob was accompanied by steamed tomato and roasted artichokes. The steak was juicy with a slightly spicy marination. The steak hada charred outside with a pink inside. On the other hand, the prawns were relatively average due to the heavy butter sauce. While the steak was great, my favorite was actually the veggies on the side and the baked artichoke in particular. What seemed to be simply tossed on the grill while cooking the meat turned out to have its own spicy seasoning which accompanied the rice well. For dessert, we had the Awesome Dude which is Akbar Mashdi’ ice cream topped with baklava. This came complementary with a Unilocal check in and was, well. interesting. I have never had akbar mashdi’ ice cream and tasted somewhat like lychee. Slightly sweet and almost mango like at first but with a more bitter aftertaste. For your reference, after looking at the menu, I realized that the ice cream is actually, saffron-vanilla ice cream with pistachios, rose water and frozen heavy cream. The ice cream was topped with delicious baklava which was crispy and flaky. The honey on top was amazing as well. I used the deal offered through Unilocal,$ 20 for a $ 24 voucher which saved me $ 4(yes, not much but hey! That’s half a Chipotle burrito). The staff was extremely friendly and patient with recommendations when we didn’t know all the items on the menu. All in all, a place I will be soon returning to when back in Reno.

We haven’t tried the kebob’s but the«sausage» options were pretty decent. Local dark beer was awesome. The Awesome Dude dessert was great, i loved it. Josepi took good care of us, but food took a long time(30min) to come out from kitchen even though the place only had 2 – 3 tables ahead of us. We may try Kebob’s next time

highly recommended. tried it out for the first time a couple weeks ago and was impressed. Quiet and homey atomosphere. Our server was cool.(I forget his name, but he was a younger gentleman in his early 20’s with darker hair.) He was very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients in each dish. He helped my date and I with our selections. the owner came around to welcome us and introduced himself. he was friendly, and gave us a card for a free«awesome dude» desert. The meal was delicious. I had a lamb gyro. My date had the shrimp kabobs. both plates were licked clean by the time we were done. There were like 5 things on the menu that I wanted to try so I will definitely back.

This has to be some of the best ¿Persian? & Mediterranean food I’ve had in the last decade. Beati out restraints across the country, including Portland, Kansas City, & syracuse, NY. Honestly, I just want to come back and slowly work my way through the menu. The homemade ice cream is stunning and delicious with baklava on top. It’s called the«awesome dude» and they are soooooo correct.

I was so excited to try this place because of its almost perfect reviews, but I was very underwhelmed by the whole experience. The service was a bit slow, especially considering that we went during non-rush hour lunch time and the restaurant wasn’t full. We did however run into the owner on our way out, and he was just as friendly as previous Unilocal reviews had described him! In terms of food, they have tasty kebab and gyro — both were flavorful and juicy meats. However, the fish was both overcooked(even when we asked for it to be undercooked) and overpriced compared to the other dishes. The saffron rice was also pretty plain and dry. We also tried the Awesome Dude dessert(free with a Unilocal checkin!), which could either be a hit or miss for someone trying it. I thought the flavor was unique but had a little too much rose and I didn’t like the chunks of frozen heavy cream that were in it. Overall, the food is probably better than most other places in Reno, but that’s considering Reno doesn’t have the best food options anyways. I would suggest the kebab or hummus plate to anyone who does end up coming here.

As this place had some really great ratings and reviews, I decided to see for myself how yummy it was. For an appetizer, my party and I enjoyed the Hummus Sampler. Our favorite hummus options were the Cilantro-Jalapeño and the Roasted Red Pepper. The House Hummus was also good, though it tasted just as any traditional hummus option would. We were also given a sampling of a new Eggplant Hummus concoction. However, my party and I decided that was our least favorite of the four. I also sampled the Doogh beverage(under the«When In Rome» mentality). I did not particularly enjoy that either, and I’m thankful it was only a sample. Let’s just say that the yogurt-based drink is more of an acquired taste. For my entrée I ordered the Lamb Gyros(Donnar Kababi). Picky eaters be warned; this specific meal includes the Persian way of eating lamb. They also have an Americanized gyros option that is apparently more like what can be found at Daphne’s Greek Café(Americanized Greek food, for those of you that don’t know). Now, I didn’t love the Donnar Kababi version personally. Perhaps I’m too Americanized. The lamb came in thick chunks of meat with a strange sort of red sauce. I couldn’t actually stomach the entire portion of it, and I honestly can’t figure out how to explain the taste to you. It’s easier to just say that the meat tasted extremely«gamey». Also, the rice was rather bland in comparison to the rich meat and sauce. Finally, I did order the Awesome Dude dessert that came free with a Unilocal!coupon at Check-In. That was actually very good. I’m a big fan of baklava, and the fact that it was sprinkled on top of rich ice cream was pure perfection. Another positive is that the other member of my party ordered the Greek Salad with a Chicken Kabob on the side. She enjoyed her meal very much, and I can attest to its yumminess, seeing as how she shared some with me when I could no longer stomach my own. I don’t particularly enjoy writing a relatively negative review, so please note that I believe my less-than-amazing experience had more to do with poor ordering rather than an overall poor establishment. I recommend knowing exactly what you’re ordering before doing so. Ask the waiters to clarify what it is you want. And follow their recommendations! I made the mistake of ignoring the opinions of my own waiter, and I regret it. This place is worth a try, at least once. It’s always great to try new things. Happy feasting.

Right across from the Peppermill, right next to Ruby River. Got the party started with their hummus sampler — like 4 different kinds, with some naan for dipping. This literally made me jump off my low carb diet. My friend ordered it, I was like«the hell with this, I’m having some!» Delicious. For lunch I had the lamb kebabs. Tender, juicy, not too salty, brilliant flavour! It was one hell of a hot day, and they managed to keep things pretty cool in there. Affordable, delicious, attentive, and quick service. Check them out!
