Yummay! I love OPA! The gyros are by far my favorite, but I have had the open face hot sandwiches, salads, pasta… yum. I love the food, delicious. My one and only complaint about Opa is that it is so small. At lunch time, rarely a place to sit. Not their fault, I mean, it is a Café, but at the same time, it is a bummer to not be able to sit down. Other than that, great. We just usually try to go a little earlier or wait until later to ensure we can sit and eat. It is always clean and the staff are always friendly, sometimes they are rushed when it is really busy, but they are never rude. I would recommend to anyone and just warn them about lunch wait times.

My first visit was today and I was delighted with the experience, the food and the people. I arrived a few minutes before the friend I was meeting arrived and the hostess came to the table to make sure I knew to order at the counter when I was ready. Thanks for noticing that I was sitting there alone – I had noticed the sign, but I appreciated the personal engagement of a staff member to make sure I was comfortable. I ordered the lamb gyro, with no sides. The sandwich was delicious with the right amount of meat and sauce. My friend ordered a salad with her sandwich and was surprised at how large the serving was. She said it was good as well. We were chatting and catching up for two hours and watched several to-go orders being picked up while we were there. No one waited long for their order, whether dining in or taking out, in spite of the fact that everything is made fresh to order. As my friend and I complimented the hostess/server on the food, she was gracious and welcoming. After we stayed longer for our lunch than everyone else in the restaurant, she brought us a piece of baklava to taste. I don’t have sufficient superlatives to describe how delicious this was! I’ll return to this little place again. The décor isn’t impressive but it’s clean, the food is very good and the people I interacted with – including the chef – were hospitable, welcoming and engaging. I’m a fan!

I am glad I didn’t read the Unilocal reviews on this restaurant before I went today. I might have missed this charming little place. It is off the beaten track and took me a minute to find, but I am so glad I made the effort. I ordered the gyro combo but asked to substitute a salad for the fries that usually come with the combo. That was no problem. The lamb in the gyro was cooked perfectly. I am Basque and am a bit picky about how lamb is prepared and it was excellent, tender, well seasoned and not overcooked. When ordering at the counter you can see into the kitchen and I was immediately impressed with how clean the kitchen was and how fresh the vegetables were. My salad was as good as the gyro. The cucumbers and tomatoes were crisp and fresh and the dressing was perfectly balanced. And the staff is delightful. The hostess was friendly and efficient. It is a family owned and operated restaurant and you can see the pride they take in working together and sharing their heritage with their customers. I learned today that this family has recently taken over the restaurant so the negative reviews I see here are from the old owners. Please give the new owners a chance. You won’t be sorry. The menu is limited but the quality of what is offered is excellent. And the baklava is to die for.

NOWCLOSED-2 words«Greek Meze»…Mmm!!! Thank goodness this place opened because Reno was lacking. This is the owners third restaurant in town and it didn’t disappoint but like the others is now gone.

Not impressed at all. I love gyros and was hoping I found a good place. Expensive and not very good. Had lasagna and a gyro, with my son. Will not be going back.

Deserves no stars. Still cannot believe what happened. I was excited to try this place. Thought the atmosphere was cute and menu had a lot of good options. I was already looking at what to order for my next visit. Server was a clueless dip that lacked human skills, let alone customer service skills. We ordered the feta appetizer, spanakopita entrée, and a chicken gyro. My gyro and appetizer comes. Five translucent, cold, soggy fries. Open the gyro, it’s lamb. Gray lamb by the way. I politely tell the waitress I ordered chicken, she asked me if I was sure. Really? Yes, sure. Few minutes later the owner comes out and he is muttering«you didn’t order chicken I’m not wasting food.» I said I was sorry the server got it wrong but I ordered chicken. He says«my gyro meat is the most expensive in the United States.» What the hell? I guess gray meat costs more. He shoves the order ticket in my face and says the server didn’t write down chicken, I’m wrong, and calls her over to the table. At this point it was very surreal because I couldn’t believe the owner was talking to me this way especially since it was the server’s fault. Mistakes happen, I didn’t have an issue, just wanted what I ordered. He said If I had to have chicken he will make it but he has to waste what I ordered and showed me the ticket again. The server stood there and said nothing. I asked my mom if she wanted to go somewhere else, there was no way I was staying there after that, and the owner yelled«fine get out go somewhere else!» Ultimately, it is so unbelievable the owner of a restaurant would talk to customers this way ESPECIALLY since I had no fault here. It was a very simple mistake that could have been easily corrected. Owner doesn’t seem concerned with treating customers well or retaining business. Also, the feta appetizer sucks, it’s a piece of cheese, one slice of cucumber, four olives, and a pepper. The pita is a disgrace to pita. It has the texture of a tortilla that sat out too long. Mr. Owner you’re a mean and nasty asshole and you are the reason trying new places is a scary gamble!

Worst service I’ve ever had! Walked in at 7:35 and was greeted by the very nice, polite hostess. I asked to make sure we could still be seated as it was nearing closing and was told«no problem, we’re open until 8». After sitting down and ordering drinks I overheard both the old guy in the kitchen and the young man server yelling at the hostess for seating us. Weak! The server basically came to the table n mocked us for forcing him to «stay late» on a Friday. It’s called«your open til 8» so you should seat until 8 you asshats! Never again! Skip it n go to Naan & kabab for a real great Mediterranean experience!

I admit the wait was long but the quality of the food was great. Pricey but i believe its worth it cause it being handmade within the restaurant

Opa! So this was my first time ever eating Greek food. Went here for lunch on a Tuesday and the place had two open tables. You sit, decide what you want and go up to the counter to order. Moussaka is very good and comes with a free appetizer. The Greek salad that came with the meal is one of the best I have ever had. It took awhile for us to get our food but like I said, there were only two open tables when we arrived. The girl at the counter was very friendly and attentive. This is a family owned and operated business and the family is very friendly. I will eat here again the next time I am feeling Greek. Opa!

Wow waited 35 minutes for sandwitches. Boyfriend ordered a basic Gyro and it was bland, the meat was definitely not made in house, and the side of rice was tiny. I got a chicken parm sandwitch. It was just grilled chicken drowning in sauce and a MOUNTAIN of cheese on a french roll. No side with that. I couldn’t finish it because I didnt order a plate of cheese and my bowels wouldnt like me if I did. That plus a lemonade was $ 24. Not worth it at all. Not going back ever.

I was so excited to find a Greek restaurant in Reno. Such a let down. My co-worker and I orders the Spanakopita, 30 minutes later when we asked if our order could just be to go as we were going to be late getting back. At this time we were informed that they only have one piece of Spanakopita left. Seriously, they opened at 11:00 and only had one piece left at 12:00. I had a bad feeling it was going to be left over from who know when. My fears were realized, I received a small piece of totally dried out and burned on 2 edges Spanakopita, pretty sure it had been reheated more than once, surrounded by hard as rocks pita bread and some tomatoes & olives. So not worth $ 9.99. I think I’ll stick to making my own.

Awesome little Greek café. This is coming from someone who has been to Greece. Hands-down, THE best tzaziki and gyros we’ve had outside of Greece. We’re talking, real, authentic tzaziki. Not the watery crap that most places in America pour on their gyros. The gyros on the menu are gyro sandwiches in a pita that Americans are used to, but with authentic tzaziki. They’re the size of a large burrito. The gyro platter on the menu is what is usually called a «gyro plate» with a bigger serving of gyro meat not inside a pita. We had the lamb gyros. Amazing. It’s an order-at-the-counter type place, a cozy, deli-style café.

My favorite Greek restaurant in town so far. I was charmed by the greeting upon entering. We had decided to drop by this place as we drove by on the hunt for a quick dinner. Fortunate that we did! Lovely atmosphere. It’s a cozy little place with soft lighting and the music fits their aesthetic well. Lots of interesting art and other things along the walls. The guy up front was on spot and pleasantly personable to us. I was honestly surprised at first and didn’t quite know how to respond! It was refreshing after so many of the flippant attitudes you get in Midtown. But to the point as I’m short on time, the food is wonderful. Best gyro I’ve had around here so far and the food was delivered pretty quick for my expectations. Considering how hungry I was that’s another reason I’m glad I decided to stop. What else needs to be said? Great service, lovely atmosphere, excellent food.

OPA !!! My first time here and I’m already a fan. It’s SOHARD to find a good Greek Gyro. Some put salad on it with Ranch dressing(NONO) others call the meat lamb, but it reminds me of fried pink slime. HOWEVER !! I am a fan of Opa Café’s Gyro. The chef has my stamp of approval. I ordered to go. I was asked if I wanted water while I wait.(4-stars for that) The place is a bit small, but that’s the way it should be! A place for the Gods to hide for a bit. I plan on going back. Wish they delivered, that would’ve gotten 5 stars from me. !! Staff was pleasing and willing to converse(BIGPLUS for me) OPA !!

The first thing I heard when I entered this lovely family owned establishment was the greeting, «Opa!» I was not expecting that and love how that first little touch really adds to the beauty of what they’re trying to accomplish with this restaurant. First things first, thank you SO much Opa café for being one of the first Greek restaurants, yet hopefully not the last, that wasn’t decked out in white and blue tile and matching accessories. I truly appreciate the warm, almost romantic feel this little café has with its red candles, hanging plants and mood lighting which is turned on at a certain time of evening. And while it would be nice to see those plants be replaced with live ones to further bring the place to life, I appreciate the touches of warmness. The service was amazing, I recognized my cashier from a nutrition class we took together which made my visit, while although brief, a pleasant sort of catch up! The food was amazing! I ordered a Greek Chicken Gyro and had them add feta and kalamata olives. The gyro and rice pilaf with cucumber and red peppers knocked off my knickers! I love the amount of Tzatziki sauce that was on there, this sauce traditionally made of strained yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil and sometimes lemon, dill mint or parsley(in this case dill) was AMAZING, and is my all time favorite sauce to date. All in all, I’d say four out five for sure on the Gyro front.

Don’t order to go! Make sure you have time to kill. I only had a 30 minute lunch, and stopped by to get a gyro with fries. I waited a full 30 minutes for my order, and they were not busy. I asked the person that took the order about how long he thought, and he said«oh 5 or 10 minutes.» Wrong. The owner was doing all of the cooking while the two unenthusiastic, unsmiling younger guys were spraying stuff with Windex, getting themselves drinks from the fountain, and pacing around looking bored. Pick up a pita! Drop some fries in! Something. The guys who took my order weren’t at all personable. I ordered the lamb gyro, the baklava, and a side of ranch, and left a 2 dollar tip. I went outside to get some fresh air and wait for my order when one of the guys that took my order came out and said he forgot to charge me for the baklava. When I got back to the register I owed and additional $ 7.50. I said $ 7.50 for baklava? He says«well it’s $ 1.75 for the side of ranch.» I decided to skip the baklava. Finally got the food back to the office, and I’m late, but time to eat the food. The fries were half ass, there were like 10 fries. The ranch was funky. The gyro was okay, but overly slathered with tzatziki. The gyro didn’t have all that much flavor. The owner is a Reno staple, and has had several great businesses here, but today was no opa experience.

First time coming here tonight and it was great. They have their own small parking lot so there’s no need to look for parking elsewhere. The direction there was eh, but it’s really just around the corner of Giroux Street. The menu had a variety of Greek and Italian food and everything on their dessert section sounds so good. My friend and I split a Greek pizza(it was bigger than we both expected so it was good we shared it), and she also got the Greek souvlaki. The food was amazing but it was a lot of food so we ended up taking them to go. At the end of our meal, we thanked the owner for the amazing food and he told us that he makes really awesome baklava but it was unfortunate that they ran out tonight but we would definitely come back just to try that and the tiramisu and other items on the menu. It was a great place to enjoy some awesome food and to catch up with some friends. The wait was a bit long but I promise that it was all worth it in the end. Yum!
